I used to stop by this donut shop all the time because it was my customers favorite. So glad they turned me on to the ham & cheese croissants. This place always has fresh donuts. On todays visit I had the ham, cheese & jalapeño croissant, it was bigger then my hand, fluffy, buttery, crusty goodness. Super messy to eat but don't let that stop you from getting one for now and another for later. You'll definitely need to vacuum the car if you eat it on the go (def worth it tho!). They also sell croissant sandwiches & boba drinks. Located next to South Mtn CC in the Target shopping center (on the 24th Street side). Plenty of parking, service is fast.

If you don't know about this place you might miss it. It's hidden around the corner from Fry's. Glad my friend told me about it. Very good, big, fresh donuts! Lots of selection. Also they are always very friendly! Great service. Not much space to sit, but great to grab and go!

Stopped in for none other to feed my donut craving. I was pleasantly greeted by the staff. The inside was very clean and welcoming. I wanted to order a glazed twist but they were out. However, the lady advised me she could make up another batch but it would take about an hour. That right there let me know these donuts were going to be over the top fresh. I didn't have the time to wait so I ordered a Coconut Glazed, Glazed Chocolate, Apple Fritter, Maple Bar, Buttermilk Bar and Maple Glazed Crueller. All of the donuts were light, fresh and airy. They were perfectly sweet, not to sweet to satisfy my sweet tooth. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try as it won't disappoint. And no, I know what you're thinking.....I didn't eat all of them. I shared. Lol!

We were already on Baseline, so when we peeped Black Rock, we made a quick turn and made our way inside. The space is nice, and clearly fairly new, as is many other surrounding buildings and businesses. They are set up with a few 4 tops, a large communal table, lounge seating, an outdoor covered patio and of course a drive thru. We decided to hang out in the lounge seating, which was comfy and perfect for our brief visit. The menu is straightforward, has all the classics and a few specialty house items. The drinks are listed as bases essentially, and then you can build and flavor it however you want. That is exactly what we did with the shaken espresso. We added the blondie syrups, which were white chocolate and caramel, both sugar free, and a splash of oat milk...sweet and delicious! Was the perfect pick me up before heading to the game. Service was friendly and helpful. The staff were as efficient as they were friendly. It only took a few minutes to get our drinks. After a quick google, I see that Black Rock is a west coast based chain...which makes me sad, as I would LOVE to have one in Nashville. Maybe one day! Overall, stellar spot!

When we got to the window, we were handed 1 Matcha and as we waited for the second one we paid and thought it was unusual that it was $8.20 when we calculated around $12 with tax included. We asked for the receipt and opted for receipt via text, because they did not have the paper option, and when we received it it showed that we were charged for 1 Tea Latte shortie with oak at $7.35 ($6.60+$.75 for the oatmilk upcharge if we do the math) + tax to total $8.20. We asked the employees about the price difference from the menu and that we wanted two matchas. The employees had a hard time explaining the price difference and when we asked for the second one we were charged $6.60 + tax which totaled $7.20 for the second one. We stopped coming here due to their inconsistency in pricing. We used to get a cafe de olla and one of the sweet mocha ones, the prices were always inconsistent, we were hoping to have a better experience this time. They didn't even have a manager we could speak to. For sure we won't be coming here anymore, nor will we be recommending the place. EDIT: We threw away the drinks because they were horrible. They tasted like coffee sweetener with matcha, too sweet, and they just left this sticky dry mouth taste like medicine.

I was hoping they'd have some good tea options too, and they absolutely do. I ordered the iced peach black tea, and it was incredibly refreshing with a really nice peach flavor that wasn't overly sweet. The cashier was also super helpful in walking me through the menu and helping me decide what to order, which made for a great first impression. For breakfast, I got the avocado cream. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the chive cream was an absolute standout, it was so flavorful and ended up being the perfect dip for bites of the avocado toast. My only complaint is that it was pretty cumbersome to eat as served. I basically had to deconstruct the whole thing to enjoy it, so I think a different presentation would make the dish even better. The atmosphere was another highlight. It felt much more like a cocktail lounge than your typical coffee shop, which made it a really enjoyable place to sit and relax. Even though I can't personally vouch for the coffee, I had such a great experience that I can't wait to come back and next time I'll bring one of my coffee-loving friends to see if the coffee lives up to everything else!

When I first moved here, I stopped in out of curiosity, and I still remember how genuinely kind and welcoming every employee was. As someone who was new to the area, that first impression meant a lot. Three years later, the same warm atmosphere keeps me coming back. Their hours have always worked perfectly with my schedule, giving me a comfortable place to study after work. There is plenty of seating, and best of all, lots of outlets, which has been a lifesaver for someone like me with an ancient laptop that seems to lose battery the moment I turn it on! Beyond the amazing coffee and cozy ambiance, what really sets this place apart is its commitment to the community. They regularly host events that are open to the public and even keep an event calendar posted so customers can stay informed. I've also seen them partner with organizations like Prisma HealthCare to offer free health screenings, which speaks volumes about how much they care about the people they serve. After searching online, I called one of JL Patisserie's other locations to ask whether they sold sourdough starter. The employee told me to head to the South 24th Street bakery because it was the location selling fresh starter that day. As someone who's just getting into sourdough baking, I really appreciated being pointed in the right direction before making the drive. When I arrived around 7:45 on a Saturday morning, the parking lot was overflowing. After circling for several minutes I finally found a spot, only to discover a line nearly reaching the door. Normally that might discourage me, but after walking inside it became obvious why so many people were willing to wait. The first thing that surprised me was the bakery itself. From the website, I had expected something that felt a bit older. Instead, the interior was bright, clean, modern, and beautifully designed. The open bakery, sleek white finishes, updated equipment, and thoughtfully arranged displays immediately gave the space a polished feel while still feeling warm and welcoming. The pastry case was just as impressive. There were rustic artisan loaves, oversized cookies, cinnamon rolls, pecan sticky buns, savory pastries, specialty Cruffins like the Banana Dulce de Leche and Cherry Cereal, along with a seasonal drink menu featuring items like the Biscoff Cookie Cold Brew, Hawaiian Latte, and Strawberry Cloud Matcha. Everything looked fresh and intentionally displayed--it was honestly difficult to decide what to order. I originally planned to leave with only the sourdough starter, but ended up adding the Quiche Lorraine, which was excellent once I got home. The crust stayed wonderfully flaky, and the filling was rich and flavorful without feeling overly heavy. The staff made an already great experience even better. They patiently answered my beginner questions about caring for sourdough starter and never made me feel rushed, despite how busy the bakery was. My total came to roughly $22, including the quiche, sourdough starter, tax, tip, and I walked away feeling like it was an excellent value for the quality of the products and service I received. I'd especially recommend JL Patisserie for adults looking for a leisurely morning coffee or pastry, anyone interested in artisan baking, or those wanting something beyond a typical neighborhood coffee shop. Families are certainly welcome, but this is an order-at-the-counter bakery that can get quite busy on weekend mornings, so arriving early is probably your best bet. I came looking for sourdough starter and ended up finding a bakery I'll be making excuses to return to. Places like this are more than just somewhere to grab breakfast--they become part of a neighborhood, bringing people together over good food and good conversation. It's easy to see why JL Patisserie has developed such a loyal following.
