Today was the day to experience this spot after taking family to the airport. It's about a 10 minute drive from there. Location on a busy corner and not a lot of parking, so time of arrival can be limited to find a space. We were there just prior to noon, so there were a few parking spots open. You can take your food to go or they have some inside seating and a nice outdoor patio. So many sweet treat! Danishes, dessert's, pastries, cookies breakfast items, sandwiches, fresh baked breads, and so much more. The time, passion, & energy is what makes this place incredible. The croissants are so flaky and exactly like what you would find in Europe & France. It is nothing like the breads baked we usually find here. Better imported ingredients make for better quality products. They have different flavors which can range from plain to filled with various flavors. A stand out to try next time is their pistachio. We got the homemade chicken salad- delicious. The Croque Monsieur sandwich was rich, salty, savory & devine. Definitely perfect for two to share. They will toast it upon request. Highly recommend. Drinks-Biscoff Cookie Cold Brew & The Hawaiian Latte. My cold brew was decent. My daughter thought the latte was the BEST she's had yet in AZ! Finally found time to check out this viral bakery/cafe and it did not disappoint! I came by on a Thursday morning around 845a and there was no wait/line. The people working were all very friendly. The parking lot is kind of small, but since it was slow I was able to find a spot. There was indoor and outdoor seating + an area with merch and grab/go drinks to purchase! Everything was very clean and bright too. I decided to try the chocolate pistachio croissant and one of the seasonal drinks called the Biscoff cookie cold brew which they turned into a latte for me. I finally got to try this place. We went to the Central Ave location. Ample parking , patio seating and indoor seating. Most customers took their order to go , as we did. We arrived a little after 7AM. There was already a line to the door. It went fast. Cheerful clerks at the register. We ordered the black sesame strawberry crème cruffin, almond crème and pear croissant, almond crème croissant and ham and cheese croissant. The black sesame just melted in my mouth. Texture of the cruffin was soft with a creamy filling. After a few bites, I tried the almond and pear croissant. Yes, very buttery, crunch factor and the almond crème and pear was perfect. Tried the Phx location closer to closing time. No line however there were limited selections. Picked up a butter croissant, morning bun (cinnamon/cardamon/sugar), and pistachio croissant. Brought my aunt who was out of town and she said "this is the best croissant she's ever had...not like the other doughy croissants she's had in the past". In their refrigerated section, you'll see a selection of soups, sandwiches and side option available in togo packaging. Some options include chicken curry, potato salad, croque monsieur and beef bourgenion soup just to name a few. The line moved fairly quickly and there was SO MUCH goodness to choose from. Eclairs, mini pies, tartes, pastries of all kinds, and everything looked so incredibly delicious. We ended up with a fresh baguette, pistachio croissant, butter croissant, cruffin, and pain au chocolat. Literally every single bite had a buttery, soft yet slight crunch in EVERY.SINGLE.BITE. The girls at this location were helpful and patient as we decided on which goodies to take home. I'm so excited to be able to write this review. After all the online buzz that made this place a viral sensation, and the coveted 10/10 rating by Keith Lee, I needed to experience it for myself. The order: my MO was to get the black sesame strawberry cruffin. My partner-in-food also got us a chocolate pistachio croissant, almond croissant, and a cinnamon roll. Additionally, we opted for coffee. I chose an iced pumpkin spice latte with oat milk. I want to start with the coffee. I moved to Phoenix 2.5 years ago from WA. I promptly realized WA had made me a coffee snob. I've been trying to find coffee made like my favorite shops back home to no avail. I took one sip of this coffee and was overcome with nostalgia. This is the best iced coffee beverage I've had in the valley. I don't know who their roaster is, but I need to know STAT. The flavor of the coffee itself is unbelievable. The drink was definitely on the sweeter side, so if that's not your thing, I wouldn't suggest the PSL. I, for one, enjoy a sweet coffee. It was right up my alley. I'll be dreaming about that drink until I have it again. Now, let's focus on the food. The black sesame strawberry cruffin was everything I wanted it to be and more. This pastry has everything. The outside texture is so flakey and firm, while the filling is creamy and jammy. The black sesame flavor is so unique. I wouldn't describe it as savory, but it's definitely not a heavily sweetened bread. The sesame flavor is forward and delicious. That paired with the more sweet filling is a perfectly balanced bite. Sometimes when eating sweets, I feel like I'm done after a couple bites because it's too rich. I ate half of this pastry and enjoyed the last bite as much as the first. I tried bites of both the pistachio chocolate and almond croissants. To my surprise, I enjoyed the almond more. It was so buttery and the nutty flavor of the almond was decadent. I almost wish the pistachio hadn't had chocolate in it, but that had everything to do with my personal preference. It was delicious as well, especially if you're a chocolate lover. I didn't get to try the cinnamon roll, but my friend said it was on par with everything else. In summary, you should believe the hype. It really is that good. I admit that I was TikTok influenced to try this spot. I saw the viral post and set my alarm for the next morning to be there when this adorable bakery opened. I'm from DC so add that to my commitment (3-hour time difference!). We arrived at 7:07am and there was already a formidable line. For good reason!!! The bakery is classy and simple. The service is so friendly and approachable. And the pastries? So. Incredibly. Tasty. Was so happy to find out that I had a JL Patisserie closer to Tempe and made sure to stop by. It did not disappoint. Although there are some differences, the food is the great, old, same stuff and I couldn't be any happier. Absolutely delicious. Amazing pastries and fresh breads. This was my first time here, drove 2 hours to experience all the talk about JLP. Someone told me to get there before they open and I was glad I did. I was first in line, 30 minutes before they opened and the line quickly formed down the sidewalk behind me. It was worth every waiting minute. Got a black croissant-muffin (Croi-muff) that was filled with homemade strawberry jam and what tasted like Bavarian sea salt black truffle cream.
