Knock-knock! Who's there? Donut. Donut who? Donut ask, it's a secret! At least, I'm tempted to keep Sesame Donuts a secret. I got the #1 combo which is a coffee with two doughnuts. For my doughnuts, I chose the coffee cream doughnut and the Doughnut of the Month (May is Strawberry Shortcake). While I would not suggest coming here for the coffee, the doughnuts were pretty fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed both doughnuts. I also got to try their gluten-free doughnuts and they were decent. All that was missing was the gluten. ;) Service was amazing, the location is massive and cute, and it's just a great place to grab a doughnut!
I stopped by Sesame Donuts after getting a haircut in the same plaza and figured I'd get some treats for the family. For it being later in the afternoon, I was actually surprised by how many donut options they still had, pretty much the full lineup! The shop itself looked clean and well-kept, which is always a good start. The employee behind the counter was a bit standoffish, not rude or anything, just not super warm. but hey, maybe it was a long day, so I didn't take it personally. I picked up an assorted half dozen to try a little bit of everything. That's where things got a little mixed. About half the donuts were great, soft, fresh, and hit that perfect sweet spot. The other half? Pretty dry and tasted a bit like leftovers from the day before (or maybe even the day before that). So, I'm on the fence. If I come back, I'll probably stick with the classics instead of the "fun" or seasonal ones, and maybe swing by earlier in the morning when everything's freshly made. I wouldn't cross this place off completely. Just might need to catch them at their best time of day.
Tried three Donuts with limited success. One was free since it was my first time. The best of the bunch was ths Coconut Cream which was light and airy and had a good filling. The Blueberry fritter had alot of blueberries, but was still oily and the blueberry crumb cake was just stale with no taste.
Very welcoming staff. Wonderful smell coming in. Large menu. The sausage could have been warmer on sandwich.
We adore this place! We are always welcomed in with a warm smile and a friendly compliment. The modern and clean store show the attention and care that goes into running this location. We have never gotten anything we didn't love. My nephews favorite are the "monster" donuts. I love the Donut of the Month. This month is a Pumpkin Cheesecake. My sister always orders the French Cruller. But the jalapeño cream cheese croissant is special. Truly adore this family owned and operated donut shop and you can taste the love and care in each bite.
I have visited Sesame Donuts many times, and it is among the best donut shops Tempe has to offer. One of my coworkers had his birthday today, and I got Sesame Donuts, as not only is he fond of donuts, but Sesame Donuts is conveniently located along the route I take to get from home to work every day, and back. When I walked in today, a friendly gentleman who was not only fun to talk to but was also patient with me when I was deciding what donuts to get when I ordered a dozen of them, greeted me. I also saw the gelato that the shop offered, and I said that the gelato looked delicious. Upon making that statement, the gentleman offered me samples. Since I had yet to have breakfast when I stopped by, I decided to sample only one flavor. The flavor I sampled was birthday cake, and it was amazing. The atmosphere of the shop is nice and colorful. Perfect for stopping by to grab some delicious donuts for any occasion. As I was selecting the final two donuts for the dozen I ordered, the gentleman even gave me an extra donut for free, which was a nice bonus. Therefore, I got a baker's dozen rather than a regular dozen. I highly recommend Sesame Donuts to anyone who is looking for a great donut shop in Tempe.
All of the great reviews here caught our eye so we made an unplanned stop. We were impressed that they had a good selection of donuts still at 1 p.m. on a Saturday. An incredibly nice woman sporting the name tag "Da Boss" was helping us (the boss, I would presume, lol) and she offered us samples. We also heard how Sesame donates their donuts to hospitals, which is pretty awesome. We purchased a variety to try: chocolate frosted raised, French crueller, apple fritter, raspberry bismarck, buttermilk bar, churro. And then Da Boss may have added a couple extra just because she has the freedom to do so. (!) I liked the apple fritter and chocolate raised the best. It's nice to find a business that cares about their customers and their community.
This is a family owned business that takes pride in their work. I just ended training at my new job so I decided to get the dispatch at my work a dozen donuts. I really wanted to make a good impression so I went out of my way to not get the regular Bosa donuts. This place exceeded my expectations!! when I called and asked for the price of a dozen a very nice woman answered the phone. She told me they had very unique donuts to come in to choose so I did. They had one of a kind donuts that were clearly freshly made and once a batch was over with they don't replace it for the day. It's a first come first serve. I would recommend these donuts to everyone and since I now know how fresh and sweet they are I will be coming back. Much better than "Voo Doo" or "Hurts"!!! Make sure you speak with "DA BO$$" she's a wonderful woman who carries on the legacy of her father and employs her son as well. Very cool looking venue as well. The inside is fun for people of all ages.
This is the coziest local spot. The owners have been in business for 20 years! They have shops all around the United States. This is the only Arizona shop. They make the donuts, hot and fresh, and so yummy! They treated my niece with such love and grace. The owner: "Da Boss"was so kind and loving! It felt like going into your Aunt's shop and getting her homemade donuts! They had cute decor that we took pictures next to. It was just this beautiful experience and we will definitely be coming back support local donuts
I used the Too Good to Go app here and that was awesome. Donuts are delish, staff is friendly. No complaints. It's donuts... they are small cakes IMO. Main positive is using that app to prevent food waste and get a deal. Overall donuts have become exorbitantly expensive now. Some places charge $2.50-4 per donut. That's literal insanity given their operating costs most likely haven't gone up that much (they've gone up but not $4 a donut, up). And I'm not just talking about Sesame. I'm talking about the "donut industry" lol. They are just very popular now and people will pay stupid money for cute things. That's why I don't get donuts often but enjoy them from time to time. As I said, they are simply little cakes.

Such a cute and lively place! It is clearly a favorite because it was busy when we arrived and there was a woman working that I heard a lot of customers calling "Mama" so clearly she is known and cherished. Customers also knew the names of the other staff who were working. There is a large variety of options. Truly something for everyone. We ordered a cheesecake donut, churro donut, strawberry sprinkle donut and Dutch crumb donut. All of the donuts were fresh and yummy. We also got the zataar and feta croissant and an iced chai latte. The croissant was perfectly made and flaky. The chai latte was a little on the sweet side for me and it seemed like the iced in it melted quickly. They have a nice little seating room and patio seating. They have a shared lot with plenty of parking. We will be back.
Fresh, tasty donuts with a selection that would satisfy any craving. Super friendly staff that offered choice ideas and a free donut to first timers. Clean establishment with quaint seating.

First time here in person, and so impressed! They are so incredibly friendly! They have an incredible selection! This place is nice and clean and plenty of seats! The donuts are delicious; gluten free and regular and the savory items looked amazing! I didn't realize they sold GF bagels! I ordered a gluten free bagel with cream cheese and watched them make several decisions gluten free sandwiches! They all looked delicious! My bagel was so good, moist and chewy! read more
Come one, come all! This is truly the best donut place I've ever been to in Arizona. The donut flavors range from classic to fun flavors. The taste of the dough itself is so good. I personally recommend the strawberry frosted and the coconut cream. They make their bagels in-house and make breakfast sandwiches. There are other pastries, such as croissants, and jalapeño cheese croissants. They sell gourmet coffee drinks too!!! The staff were always kind and welcoming. Open sesame. Want a place that offers gluten-free doughnuts? Stop here. I got some gluten-free doughnuts here recently while accompanying Joyce who went full gluten because "My stomach isn't a coward." It was a good experience. The coffee isn't anything to write home about but the doughnuts were great. In a time where nothing is ever free anymore, not even the gluten, treat yourself to a doughnut. read more

The gluten-free donuts and bagels here are amazing, as well as their regular donuts and bagels! The vanilla gluten-free donut (they have a chocolate option too) is the most cake-like GF donut we have ever had and the GF donut is customizable with the same toppings as their regular donuts (we ordered maple frosting for ours). Very delicious! We also ordered some regular donuts (my favorite was the blueberry fritter) and they were so delicious as well! We also ordered a gluten-free everything bagel sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheddar cheese and a sesame seed regular bagel sandwich with maple, sausage, egg and cheese, and both were amazing! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. Da Boss is an amazing friendly woman who helped make our experience at Sesame Donut excellent. 10/10 will visit again when we visit the Tempe area again! read more

Recently I've been using an app that connects people with local businesses to help reduce food waste & so glad I took advantage to coming here as I it wasn't on my radar. I purchased ahead a dozen doughnuts and when I arrived I was happily surprised to find the large variety of doughnuts, bagels, gelato & specialty items they have on hand. Service was great and the donuts they selected were quickly taken down once I got home by the family. Some of the flavors, they were a first!!! Lots of items are made in store daily which highlights a commitment to excellence... Sounds old skool, but that's what's missing from businesses these days. After a few minutes of conversation, he mentioned Oregon and I quickly connected the dots that I had been to a shop there and that this was the 1st store to open in Arizona. Family owned & run business!!! They made sure to share with me some of the things they do in house and how it makes a difference in the quality. Thankful that I was able to connect with Sesame Donuts and learn a bit more about the business. Since my initial visit, I've return 2 other times while driving by (near Dutch Brothers so avoid all the drive thru traffic & use the VIP parking signage, in front) I do still struggle with the individual price of donuts (~$2/each) so I would highly recommend ordering a half or full dozen. My last trip, picked up a few Kolaches... yeah, they have traditional ones. Next trip will incorporate a breakfast sandwich & donuts via one of the Combo Meals. read more

A nice place with unique and traditional donuts. I had a strawberry cheesecake donut that had a nice topping and a custard like filling. The wife had a gluten free chocolate donut that she said was more like cake than a donut, but she liked it. Lady at counter was super nice! read more

The young lady behind the counter (Da Boss- name tag) was great!!! We had flown in from GA and she insisted that we each get a free donut. And then she gave us 3 free donuts!!! The food was great and so were the donuts. The place smelled great and they have a really nice seating area with big windows. read more

You can pick up a dozen of their signature donuts coated in sesame seeds or mix and match from over 60+ varieties of freshly baked raised antique donuts. They even have a gluten-free options here too! Sesame Donuts also serves up other delicious baked goodies like croissants, kolaches, muffins, bagels, and cake pops. If you're a fan of sweet pastries do yourself a favor and try the Dulce de Leche or Chocolate Croissants. Oh, and don't forget to grab some of their delicious baklava while you're there! They also cater, too, which we have ordered during the holidays. It couldn't have been any easier or smoother of a process. The person who took our order over the phone was as sweet as can be and super helpful! Pickup later that week was as also a breeze. When you see a donut shop with 5 stars, you are are absolutely required to detour and check it out. I would nearly give them 5 stars for the staff alone. They were super friendly, helpful, and made sure we got to try plenty of samples. The store was clean, and definitely showed that they cared about what they were doing. Every donut we tried was fantastic, each were filled with flavor and made extremely well. In addition to the donuts they also had some savory items and gelato. Their signature sesame donut was a really fun flavor and I'd recommend everyone to try it. I don't know that I'd order it every time, but it would absolutely be on my rotation. read more

Been here a couple times now and will always come back for the food and thier redbull infusions. Not only are thier prices fair but the quality is still high level. The service is always 10/10 & I am always greeted with smiles. Inside it's always clean & the are is filled with yummy smells from the bakery. Great place to stop by in Tempe especially during lunch or on the way for work. read more
If you are looking for great fresh halal donuts and perfect quick breakfast such as bagels or croissants with eggs, sausage or halal bacon go to Sesame Donuts. Their combo deals are very affordable. The breakfast items were fresh and flavorful. The owner "da boss" is the most friendly business owner I met. Be brave and try maple donut with bacon. You will not regret it. The amount of fresh yummy donuts in all kinds of flavors I never saw before. Coffee ice cream is one of the kind. Peanut free restaurant!!!!!! Very very clean restaurant. read more

I've been to this spot once for a meeting on their patio and their donut holes were yummy! They also offered savory baked goods which were good as well. I recently visited because I purchased two dozen donuts from TooGoodToGo. I arrived early, before the window, but the employee was cool and let me pick up my goods, as long as I marked my items as "picked up" once the window opened, which I did. There was a great assortment of donuts. I tried the S'more's one and it was delicious! Loved the (halal) marshmallows on top and the flavors mixed well. BTW everything here is halal, including their bacon and sausage. Definitely want to come back and try more from their menu! read more

This is the place you want to get your donuts! Promise! I was lucky. Bosa was closed so I found this place. What a gem. The place is clean. The staff are the friendliest!!!!!!! And the donuts are perfection!!! As a donut hole lover, I love that they have over a half dozen different kinds of donut holes. And a special donut each month. I highly recommend this place. You won't regret it! read more
