I don't think I had ever had a cronut before. I've always heard about them. I'm not a huge croissant fan, and I'm very particular about my donuts, but I will say I was impressed by these The menu is mostly just a variety of cronuts, coffee, and beer. You can even do a beer & donut flight. There are nearly a dozen varieties of cronuts on display. You can buy one or multiple. We opted for a box of 4. We tried the Wicked Creamy, the strawberry Shortcake, the Maple, Eh, and the churrito. They had utensils that we could easily split the Cronuts up so we could all get a taste, and everything was delicious The staff were very friendly and helpful. All our questions were answered, and our order was prepared quickly and with care. We were told that the Strawberry Shortcake was their best seller, and it wasn't even on our radar, but I will say it was a great recommendation as it was my favorite of the ones I tried The spot is a fun vibe with bright colors, plenty of natural light, art and murals, a couch and gaming system. It's actually pretty spacious for a donut shop, but it would be a great place to eat donuts, grab a beer, and hang There Some tips: Downtown Mesa is a lot of fun. There's an antique shop/pinball arcade around the corner. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, a beer garden, a distillery, and other boutique options. The AZ distillery has great cocktails, and the Salted Knot is definitely worth a stop. Parking is limited, but you can find street parking (free), and paid parking lots/garages Join their InKind rewards to get discounts and free stuffs. I just opened their website and it has a notification that says "Get $10 towards your next $30+visit" Cheers!!
Quirky, delicious, and, elevated is the three best words to describe this donut shop. When you step in, the counter is right there. Showcasing their donuts in all their glory. At least 18 choices! But it doesn't stop there. They offer breakfast sandwiches too, including avocado toast. Coffee drinks and bar drinks available too. Once you decided on a donut, breakfast sandwich or one of each, the seating area is plentiful. Including a little living room with plush pink couches AND video games for your enjoyment. I ordered the Bandito breakfast sandwich. A flaky bun, egg, hash brown, chorizo patty, green peppers, cheese, and, crema. It has no business being that delicious!! 10/10 would order again. If you want simple, The Standard is for you. Flaky bun, bacon or ham, egg, hash brown, and, cheese. Basic but delicious. Service was great! Very hospitable. Nice young man with a sense of humor. Felt welcomed. But before we could we leave, we had to get a donut. I tried the Happy Camper. A s'more donut! Another banger if I say so myself!
Outcast sells what they call layered donuts which seems to be their version of the cronut. The base is a croissant donut with various toppings you can choose. (They have about fifteen flavors to pick from.) The donuts are not cheap but seem to be about the same price as a pastry might cost you - just more expensive than traditional donuts. I liked the Happy Camper (chocolate frosted, graham sprinkles, toasted marshmallow and Hershey bar) but would have liked a little more graham flavor. The It's Wicked Creamy (their take on Boston Cream) was good too. The All Hail Churrito was simple, but a basic cinnamon sugar delight. The Maple, Eh? was too cloyingly sweet for me. The guy who helped us both times is very friendly and helpful. I may come back on a rare occasion but the higher price point here also might keep me away.
Well, I didn't realize this was a CRONUT shop, and honestly I don't know if this a good new realization, because they're even better than I imagined, but I may be getting them way more often than I need to. The staff was so sweet and helpful and they were extra sweet to my pup whom they gave some whipped cream too. So cool there's a full bar here too and a super cute patio right in the heart of downtown Mesa. Everything I had was delicious: chai tea latte, churrito?, and the monkey one (Nutella/banana). The crunchy outside and buttery flaky middle makes these insanely delicious. I highly recommend!
Tried this place a few weeks back when I was in the area and wow I don't typically like donuts and these were amazing. The shop was a cool little place with a cute lounge area to hangout and watch tv and place game. The offered donuts and breakfast sandwiches which had me very tempted but had to stick with donuts! I got a 4 count of sprinkles, s'mores, beignet, and fruit pebbles! The donuts are more of cronuts which are my absolute favorite and so so good. The bread is so moist and crisp on the outside. I will say you cannot leave these donuts to eat for later or the next day. They are donuts you do need to eat sooner than later! All around though very good and unique!! The guy working there really loved what we was doing and was very friendly and happy to help us out!
To start, majority of their donuts are actually croissant donuts, cro-nuts, which actually has some really great taste and texture. We got lucky with parking and got up front and were greeted with a delightful lineup of cro-nuts. The guy at the counter was extremely friendly and patient while we stared at the menu. After ordering, it felt like the drinks and sandwiches came really fast. Eating cro-nuts is definitely not the cleanest activity (or eating any specialty donut for that matter) so either bring hand sanitizer or hopefully the bathroom is available to wash your hands right before. Cool thing about this place, they do have a lounge area with a whole Nintendo switch set up, and they actually have pro controllers available so you're not stuck with the tiny switch remote. For the food, it's a bit pricey. Feels like you're paying more for the lounge and hang out. The sandwich we had as well, we asked if the kitchen could cut it in half. They were not able to, but the guy who took our order quickly provided us with a knife and fork to cut it ourselves. Great service, great place to hang out, would recommend if you like cro-nuts, though it's a tad bit pricey.
The perfect place if you're craving something sweet! Got a cappuccino to balance the sweetness. They're basically fancy croissants! It is street parking, but we didn't have a problem on a Saturday afternoon. They also had video games so it is a good place to hangout. There was a red head who helped us, she had the best customer service, didn't get her name. Had the most welcoming attitude.
I went to Outcast on Sunday and got a Cheeky monkey (Nutella and banana) and a Boston cream (I don't remember their name for it) both donuts were excellent. I also got a campfire but I didn't eat it yet (froze it for later). Their donuts are cronuts (croissant donuts). Around $4 a donut but a little cheaper if you buy buy 4 at a time ( you will want 4)! They have many choices and all are great. This was my second trip to Outcast. The staff was very attentive (to be fair I was the only one in line) but they were very friendly and helpful. The shop is very colorful and energetic.
First off, this is not your regular donut shop, this is a cronut which for my family and I enjoyed very much, we have had cronuts before and weren't a fan of as it's dry. They did an amazing job making them fun and delicious! Super friendly staff, very helpful and patient with us as we were all over the menu trying not to order everything. Definitely get breakfast sandwich to go with a cronut to enjoy as dessert and definitely get a latte to enjoy it with, their coffee is really good, you can taste the espresso and not just syrup and milk. Definitely will be our to go special treat!
Hands Down, the BEST Donut Spot in the Valley! I don't say this lightly--this donut shop absolutely crushes the competition. Whether you're into the classics or the crazy, over-the-top creations, they've got it all dialed in. If you're in the Valley and not stopping here, you're seriously missing out. 10/10. Would eat again (and again... and again).
Outcast doughnuts is such a fun place to spend time, whether it's with the family, or some girl friends. We had a great time picking out of all of the awesome doughnut options and loved all of them! The mimosa flight and mini doughnuts were fabulous and I can't get over how great the coffee was! Chelsea was so helpful and I've been back twice since! Check out my photos, everything is DELICIOUS! Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the breakfast sandwiches!
Great atmosphere. Cool vibes and out of this world donuts can't miss with the mimosa donut flight
Doughnuts are definitely a difference here - more abnormal variety with ability to challenge your taste buds in a good way . Brother and i came late in the day and doughnuts definitely have been sitting - tasted fine but not as fresh ? The half dozen is 8 doughbuts for them so just fyi . Very friendly staff, and patient .came here to check it out after we ordered some Gus' Chicken down the street . Laid back atmosphere and they seemed to have lot to offer but we only did doughnuts .
Outcast doughnuts mainly sells... You guessed it, doughnuts. So normally, you save a bunch of money if you ever decided to buy bulk options. We decided to get a 4 pack of donuts which saves us a measly 40 cents... Which I've gotta say is the lowest discount I've ever seen for buying a pack. However, the doughnuts themselves were above average and they've got around 15 flavors to choose from. We also got a breakfast sandwich but those are pretty small as the bread they use is in the shape of a donut. Service was relatively friendly and I thought it was cool that they had a Switch if you wanted to play Mario Kart with your cronies. read more

Well this is a neat donut shop with a fun name! The guy behind the counter was a cool guy. The donuts are delicious with layers of flaky dough. How did they do that? I highly recommend trying all of Them. We also had a cold coffee drink with an interesting name. You will have to Go and see the interesting coffee name for yourself. read more

I was in the area for an event and had some time to walk around to grab a snack. We saw Outcast Doughnuts from across the street and felt called to check them out. We were greeted by two friendly faces and asked if we visited before. The person behind the counter explained their array of offerings and was patient while we made a selection. There are a variety of donut flavors from plain to strawberry shortcake. In addition to donuts, they offer breakfast sanwiches, coffee, ice-cream, and cocktails. They also have a donut and beer flight! A bit spendy for a donut at $3.85 each or 4 for $15, but honestly, compared to other specialty donuts I've tried, this is worth it! The space was clean with plenty of seating. It was inviting and felt like a nice place to hang out for a bit. We opted for the maple as that's my go-to flavor and it did not disappoint! It was certainly sweet, but the glaze was well done. The layers are flaky, but also offered a bit of density, making the whole thing texturally enjoyable. We had to stop ourselves from indulging in another so as to not ruin our appetite, but we would certainly recommend and visit again! read more

We went here since it was right in front of Mesa's NYE event that we were hanging out at. The place is spacious with seats inside and some tables outside. Outcast doughnuts sells fancy layered donuts with fun names at gourmet prices, so if you are looking for simple, look elsewhere. They also sell coffee, cones, cocktails, and breakfast sandwiches but didn't try any. Unfortunately it was slim pickings when we got in line around 11am. With a lot of people coming in and out from the event I wasn't surprised. We were not greeted when we walked in and the girl who took our order wasn't very friendly and you could tell didn't want to be there. We managed to find a table table inside for 3 adults and 6 kids. We ordered the Birthday Cake and Most Dope. The birthday cake was dry and the Most Dope was a bit oily so after a few bites, my kids and I lost interest. My friends said theirs was oily too. Also kind of small for almost $4. Honestly I was going to give this place a 2 but bumped my rating to 3 stars since it was so busy and they prob weren't prepared for the crowd. And bc I'm nice and it's my first review for 2025 :) But I wouldn't go back... read more

This family-owned donut place is a hidden gem. Everything tastes fresh, but the croissant donuts really stand out ,light, buttery, and perfectly made. Friendly service and amazing quality. So happy to support a local business like this. Aiden and the crew are awesome! read more
There was a free doughnut coupon we received and figured we might as well go! The inside was very cool looking - lots of pink! All their doughnuts were on display and we choose two. I got the Beignet All Day and my husband got the Maple, Eh? Both doughnut were very good and flaky as they were the croissant/doughnut hybrid. I typically don't like Maple but the glaze on their was just the right amount of sweetness. I did buy a cold brew off their Halloween menu. It was any coffee drink with an ube cold foam topping. The coffee was pretty good and I really enjoyed the topping. We'd like to come back for their breakfast sandwiches. The service was also very nice and helpful, the facilities were very clean! read more

I've been here a few times and I really enjoy the layered texture of the doughnuts here, as well as the creative flavor combinations they create. Service is always quick and friendly. I appreciate the way they pack each order carefully. My favorite doughnut from my recent visit was the Drop Kick, with Irish cream filling and espresso dust. read more

I am always stoked to see a new business in downtown Mesa! Outcast Doughnuts was no exception. I've been my them numerous times and the timing or craving has just not aligned, but I was in the mood for a little treat this week and figured it would be a perfect opportunity to try them out! Their line up of flavors is unique and decedent. My husband and I shared their fab favorite strawberry shortcake, the employees favorite, drop kick, which is a coffee inspired option, along with a cold brew and their bandido breakfast sandwich. I believe all of their donuts are croissant donuts or cronuts. This was my first time having one and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I don't always lean towards donuts, as they can be too rich or sweet for my preferences, but the combination of the two creates a very balanced pastry! Not to mention Outcast balances the flavor perfectly. The strawberry shortcake was sort of lime a Chantilly filling which was light, airy and delicious. This was our personal favorite between the two. The drop kick though equally tasty, I found the filling/topping to be harder to enjoy since it was dolloped on top. The breakfast sandwich came with hash browns,, chorizo, cheese and cream - delicious, but would love an chipotle sauce over the crema on a cronut bun. My husband and I shared it with our donuts, which worked out since we had multiples, but definitely more personally sized. Donuts are super reasonable in price at $3.75 at time of review and breakfast sandwiches are $9,50. They offer. Adu espresso bar, but don't advertise anything beyond classic options, which is usually what I end up doing. The space inside was bright and open, great option to do a little work. They also offer beer, mimosas, bloody Mary's and espresso martinis if you're looking for a little treat in the alcoholic variety. Overall, it was delicious and I would absolutely return for any donut cravings or needs! read more

Amazing donuts, wonderful service, and cool vibes! Wish I would have taken photos of the inside. They have old vide games consoles set up on a big screen to play. Very fun decor! Donuts were incredible! Today, I tried the limited time dubai chocolate donut. It was fantastic! They offer beer and donut flights, which I would definitely come back to try. If you're cruising through Downtown Mesa on the east side, do yourself a favor and stop by this donut gem--hands down better than Voodoo Donuts. It was my first visit and I was blown away. My son went for the s'more, I had the shortcake (their best seller), and both were next-level delicious. The vibe? Chill and welcoming. Friendly staff, great music, and a cool donut-and-beer hangout atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. Must-try spot! read more

Stumbled across this on a late Friday night in downtown Mesa as we parked - was walking by and normally I don't care for donuts, but the "layered donut" sign caught my eye. Decided to stop in and wow, so glad I did. Turns out all the donuts are layered and I was quickly enthralled with all the flavors and fun names. Forgot to grab his name, but the employee was friendly and polite while I took my time trying to decide. Ended up taking a few of his suggestions and none of this disappoint. Will have to be back for the beer/mimosa and donut flights! read more

Taking a stroll and saw the signage and decided to go check it out. The inside of the establishment was very colorful and clean. The server or batista, Brooklyn, was extremely friendly. She suggested a matcha blend that was delicious. My daughter hot a Dirty Chai that she really enjoyed. It's a quaint little place that I think everyone should visit when on Main St read more

Outcast Doughnuts has a charming atmosphere, and the staff is very welcoming. I ordered the avocado toast, which was just okay--pretty plain and a bit overpriced, especially since it didn't come with an egg. My girlfriend got the mimosa flight, which included four small mimosas and three donuts. It was a cute presentation and a fun idea. While the food we tried wasn't anything special, I'd definitely return to try their donuts since that's what they're known for! read more
A cute place in downtown Mesa. The decor is cute but simple. We walked in on Friday night at about 8:30pm and the place was pretty occupied. A box of 8 donuts was 50% off. The menu has the ingredients of every donut broken down. There were so many to choose from and so we got a variety. The lady behind the counter helping us was super nice and welcoming and she answered all our questions. While we were trying to decide which donuts to pick, the incredibly delicious smell of coffee distracted me! Wow! What an amazing aroma! After we grabbed our donuts, we decided to order chai lattes (with some nutmeg). I tried mine with half and half rather than whole milk for a change. We sat on the hot pink couches, which were actually set up like a game room! A screen was on the wall and a couple of Nintendo controllers were on the couch and super Mario was on the screen! We didn't play but still enjoyed sitting there and devouring our donuts. First bite, yum! I tried "How you like them apples" first. This to me was actually a cronut! It had the lovely layers of a croissant but the flavors of a donut with apples and cinnamon. I also tried the "Happy Camper" a chocolate donut topped with marshmallows (removed the marshmallows prior to having it). It was very good. I could have gone on but it was too much sugar for this time of night! For our drinks, we tried chai latte and while it was delicious, it was super sweet for my liking, and that's just me. But the flavors were beautiful! We cannot wait to return, especially after trying "Drop Kick" the next day, a delicious coffee and chocolate flavored donut! My oh my!!! A must try! They are open only on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday but they have long hours on Fridays and Saturdays (until 10pm). We are planning to go again soon! read more
The cronuts are amazing. There is a lot to choose from and I had a hard time- I had intended to get one (there were 4 I was eyeing), ended up with 2 and killing them right in the shop. I got the nafta (jalapeño bacon crumbles, maple glaze, and bourbon creme drizzle) and the strawberry shortcake (strawberries, cream filling, condensed milk drizzle, graham cracker sprinkles). Both have super different flavor profiles- nafta had some slight heat at the end and it wasn't overpowering, strawberry was a little intense but so so good. I asked for a knife and fork since I knew it would be a big mess if I tried to use my hands. Interior is fun, music is loud, lighting is bright, service is super nice and friendly. The guy serving me has an announcer like voice- like he could legit be an announcer. He said they would be opening 4 more locations this year too. read more

Are the "doughnuts" used as bread for the bfast or lunch sandwiches sweet? I'm trying to understand how a Reuben works on a doughnut etc.?
It's a croissant based donut...I didn't find the actual donut sweet and just the glaze and filling which to me made it balanced. I haven't tried the sandwiches yet but they sound amazing.
