My friend and I stopped by Buttered Up Bakery to pick up breakfast. The bakery is not visible from the street because it's tucked away in the corner of an industrial business park. The bakery has an assortment of pastries, sandwiches, and pizza. We were helped by Steven (who is one of the co-owners). He was extremely nice and personable! He explained some of the items and made suggestions. I ordered a Kouign Amann. I've never even heard of this pastry, but it's one of my friend's favorites so I decided to give it a try. We ordered our food to go, but there is a small dining area down the hallway from the ordering counter. The Kouign Amann was so flaky, buttery, sticky, and sweet! It was a lot more filling than I expected because it had so many layers. Parts of the edges were crispy while the inside was soft and pillowy. I really enjoyed it! The next time I visit my friend in Phoenix, I will be requesting another visit to Buttered Up Bakery!

Tried out Buttered Up Bakery for the first time and it didn't quite hit the mark for me. It's tucked back in a little unassuming industrial area. There is parking right in front of the door and the moment you walk in you're facing the counter. The space is unique with separate seating areas and rooms. It's definitely more casual and basic. I'm not sure I'd hang out, but ample seating if you wanted to meet with a friend or get some work done. They have a generous line up of savory and sweet pastries and offerings including sandwiches, pasta and much more. I went with the mini pie trio, with the breakfast egg and bacon and the spinach and feta. They were both tasty and definitely a great option and perfect to share if you just want a little snack or indulge in all three! I also liked the ability to be able to try difference flavors. They are more bread heavy, but still tasty and warmed up upon ordering. For my sweet tooth I got the cinnamon roll croissant. This did not hit the mark for me. Far too much icing and honestly I'm not really an icing person in general, I prefer a cream cheese frosting so I suppose that's on me. The whole thing was just too sweet. I'd opt for a different pastry on my next visit. Lastly a cold brew, which honestly seemed light hot coffee poured over ice. I would try them again if I found myself in the area, but just explore some other menu items.

What a cute little bakery! I came into town from Colorado for my son's 21st birthday celebration and I needed a little something to take to him. I purchased the chocolate birthday celebration mini cake and a little three layered chocolate cake. He loves them!

It smells so good in here! Staff were amazing and friendly. Fresh made bakery in the air. Crème Brûlée French toast and their cinnamon buns are delicious! Definitely worth coming back!

Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The bread is like a cross between a croissant and Texas toast

My worst nightmare: understaffed with only three high schoolers managing the orders on a busy Sunday.

This beautiful little shop feels like stepping into another world the moment you walk in. It's family run, and you can truly feel the love and creativity that goes into everything they make. From cupcakes and tortes to cookies and so much more, every display case looked amazing. They even had gluten-free options, which was great to see. Gabriel welcomed us in and took the time to walk us through all the delicious treats they had to offer. His kindness and enthusiasm made the experience even more special. Since it was our first visit, we were treated to complimentary shortbread cookies -- we chose lavender and rose -- and both were absolutely delicious. We ended up taking home a strawberry brownie, the tuxedo cupcake with dark chocolate and buttercream frosting, a vanilla cupcake, and the limoncello cupcake. Every single dessert was wonderful and beautifully made. This is the kind of bakery you instantly know you'll return to again and again. We will definitely be back!

I've been here 3 times in 2 weeks after discovering it and plan to go again in the next couple days. There's so much try! They even do high tea, which is a treat to find! The decor is unique and gives service to their heritage and personally curated feel. No doubt there is something to enjoy for everyone here. I'm not sure about Vegan or gluten free options.

They sometimes sell out of their croissant wheels, so we had to get one: croissant consistency shaped into a circle with filling and glaze. When you cut into the raspberry lemon, the so-named filling oozes out... decadence on a plate. They also had a pistachio and chocolate one, and others. Somewhat similar to cronuts but less flaky. At $9.50, I'm good for awhile! We also tried the soft lemon blueberry cinnamon roll which also came in several different flavors. Their sandwich bread is also quality; we enjoy the honey whole wheat. They have a rewards card to buy 10 loaves of bread (or challah, sweet bread) and get 1 free. They also donate their leftover goods at the end of the day to a homeless shelter. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the kindest, most welcoming staff, which makes the whole experience even better. There's such a wide variety of delicious treats to choose from that it's hard to pick a favorite. Personally, I love the sugar cookies--they have the perfect level of sweetness. My daughter can't get enough of the mint brownie, and my husband always asks me to bring home one of their coffee cake loaves. Beyond those favorites, they offer an incredible selection of cupcakes, croissants, cookies, cinnamon buns, and so much more. Anytime we have visitors, this is one of the first places I take them. I truly can't recommend this bakery enough!

We've only been to the one in Old Town Mesa, by the fine art theater. Just glad its not next door, because I'd start living there! Not to sound like a hoity toity food snob, (kind of like when someone says they are not a "conspiracy theorist," but then they go into great lengths about conspiracies -- I'll be a snob here. Their pastries and breads are next level. They aren't just baking an excellent product (which would be enough to make me happy in area that lacks artisan bakers) they are "crafting" baking art. I hate to compare to the European Bakery craft (because there are plenty of great American bakers) but Europe does have that as a trademark (at least France, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.) If all I ate eat each day was one of their croissants, it would be enough - theirs just flake away from the outside, and then a tender airy sourdough inside. Pain au Chocolate - excellent. Croissant - excellent. Oh -- Chocolate Chuck cookie - unbelievable. Best I've ever had. Chewy, buttery, crunchy. Not caky. I'll be heading back for sourdough bread and other goodies. No photos - I eat the goods too fast.

I know they're vegetarian, but I wanted to double check with her. She responds as "vegetarian means no meat, right"? All employees working at a food establishment should know what vegetarian means. This was quite baffling to hear. I asked her for a new slice because the one that was out on display was visibly burned and the other slice was touching pepperoni from the meat pizza. As mentioned, I'm a vegetarian. Therefore, I could not have either one of those slices. She proceeds to say that's how the pizzas are. They are slightly burned because they are so sourdough. While I can accept this answer, I do not accept the fact that she would not be willing to give me another slice as a paying customer. She insensitively said she can't give me a new one until all the old slices are taken up. She mentioned that this is their procedure. According to this, they are saying that they will not provide a proper product unless the old, damaged product, or unacceptable by the customer is used up first. If this is their business model, then it is apparent they do not value customer service. This business should have the competence to understand that if they want to sell a product, they cannot sell it in a condition that the customer is not satisfied with. Most importantly, being a vegetarian, they should have the sensitivity to understand that if a slice is touching the meat product then they cannot consume it. And again, the employee completely disregarded my health and religious beliefs by not accommodating me. You usually won't encounter problems when you're just trying to buy bread. However, it reflects on the business's employees greatly when there is a problem and they do not value customer service by resolving or accommodating the customer's satisfaction. I will be switching to Noble exclusively. Especially since it's so readily available at the farmers markets and stores.
