This is a cute location in Scottsdale. We were promptly greeted by another customer's adorable dog when we walked in. The lobby area is quite small. There are a couple of tables outside and inside. We got a dozen donuts to take home. These are our ratings on the ones we tried: Glazed devil's food chocolate cake donut: 3.5 stars. This is a decent cake donut. Nothing super special or exciting, nothing unpleasant about it. Strawberry sprinkle: 3 stars. Didn't have much strawberry flavor but the donut itself was good. Pumpkin spice coffee cake donut: 5 stars. This was delicious. No detractors to this donut whatsoever. Cinnamon roll: 4 stars. Pretty decent. Comparable to some of the better donut places out there. Definitely a good stop for donuts if you're in the area! Maple bacon: 4.5 stars. Bacon was still crunchy. Maple had good flavor. Great donut. Cinnamon crumb: 4.5 stars. Really good. Lots of cinnamon flavor. Great crunch. Vanilla cream custard cronut: 5 stars. Raspberry on top was lovely. Custard was delicious and well spread across the donut. Creme brulee: 4 stars. We have never eaten here, however the owners generaously donated boxes of donuts for a church event. Flavors included creme brulee, lemon poppyseed, crullers, cronuts, and many others. We sampled the Girl Scout Samoa's inspired one and a cronut. Both were fantastic, and we heard from church patrons that the others were also wonderful. Thank you for your generous donation. The donuts here are fantastic and on another level. Now in my top 2 of donut spots I've tried locally. It wasn't busy in the AM and there's so many options to choose from. Customer service was friendly and willing to answer any questions. We went with a dozen with a mix of fancy, classic and their special bar. The donuts were fluffy and pillowy with no weird oil or fried taste. My favorite was the salted caramel and crueler. Every single donut was great though. Ended up going here for breakfast as the establishment next-door was too packed and the reservation list was taken too long. It was quick and easy. All the donuts were ready to go. The coffee was hot and fresh. I ended up ordering the chocolate glaze donut and the strawberry crunch donut and paired it with the blueberry coffee. I was very satisfied with my selection and the donuts were nice and soft and fresh and flavorful. We originally planned to have brunch next door, but the wait was way too long, so we stopped into The Local Donut Shop instead and I'm glad we did! These aren't your typical donuts; they have a great variety of specialty flavors. I tried the strawberry shortcake and Bavarian cream and both were delicious. There were SO many specialty donuts to choose from, they even gave me a piece to taste test when I couldn't decide on one lol We ended up with the banana cream pie and crème brûlée donut we both preferred the banana cream but they were still both really good. Stumbled across this family owned donut shop in south Scottsdale on superbowl Sunday. What a variety of donuts with unique flavors and pastry like quality. So many to choose from. I chose a traditional dark chocolate cruller and a apple fritter. My non traditional pick was a Chantilly cream topped croissant donut. Great take out packaging. The apple fritter was filled with apple cinnamon goodness and was not greasy at all. The eggs cruller was topped with a hard shell of dark chocolate. The cruller dough was light with that rich egg taste. The Chantilly cream was like a pillow on top of a croissant dough donut. Definitely a pastry treat. This shop has plenty of traffic and we will be back on our annual trek to the area. read more

Visiting friends in the area and they made sure to bring us to everyone's favorite donut shop - the Local Donut. Located in a small strip mall next to the car wash. Ample parking in the front and tons more in the back lot. Since the new brunch spot opened in the same plaza, parking has been a little bit tougher but be patient the donuts are worth it. They have your regular donuts but what's cool and different about this place are their craft "fancy" donuts. We got a little of everything to try. Creme brulee, oreo, chantilly berry, maple bacon, apple cider, pumpkin cheesecake, and their cronuts. Enjoyed all the donuts and the flavors are top notch. The Local Donut is located in a shopping center. They have parking in the front and around the back. We visited this location on a Thursday and Saturday morning and parking was not an issue. Both visits we did an assortment of donuts. The donuts are easily viewable in the case. Pricing is clear on the wall. All the donuts we tried were delicious and fresh. My favorite was the blueberry old fashioned. Store had a small seating area & was clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Updating my previous review since it has been a few years since I wrote that. They have modernized and cleaned up the location a bit as the little shopping center they're part of has also gotten a revamp. The place still has a few tables outside and a few inside, but the location is largely occupied by the donut counter. They have many standards that are fantastic (we like the old fashioned varieties and I really love the mochi style donuts), but the fun part is the rotating selections -- if you can get a black sesame mochi donut, (or, there was some kind of a berry-yuzu mix that I swear I had but can't remember the exact mix), those are great. Be aware that the flavors on the mochi donuts are more subtle than those on the crazy "Fancy" or "Schmancy" varieties. They do a great job with crullers, which can be difficult. (Just be sure to eat those on the day you buy them!) Note that it can get crowded, especially on weekends, but the lines tend to move pretty quickly. Also note that there is parking behind the building, which can be important to know when the front lot is absolutely packed! Still a solid choice and still 5 stars. read more

I'd heard good things about this donut shop, and have tried a donut or two from here, but this was my first visit. I stopped by one weekend afternoon to pick up a surprise bag from TGTG. It's a great deal, donuts at a discounted price and you help reduce food waste. I got there and was greeted by the friendly employee. I let them know I had a bag to pick up and they packed up a box for me. I double checked my order and made sure I got my assorted dozen. I got home and tried a few flavors, including their chocolate glazed and red velvet crumb. Both were tasty, as was the chocolate sprinkle cake donut. I also froze some donuts as we weren't going to eat them all, and when I reheated it, it tasted good! Some of their fancy donuts in the shop looked really appetizing, like their cronuts and mochi donuts, so I'd consider paying more for the surprise bag that would include some of those. They do offer traditional donuts as well but I would highly suggest to come here mostly for their fancy donuts, as I feel you can get traditional donuts for cheap elsewhere. After an event in the same shopping center, I stumped into The Local Donut. Located in a popular shopping center, I was able to find a spot. While they don't have the most creative name for a donut shop, I was very much impressed once I went outside. Ambiance (3/5): Pretty much a standard donut shop with hipster vibes. I got takeout but they have a couple of tables if you want to dine in. You order at the counter. Service (3/5): Since you order at the counter, service isn't a big part of the experience. There was no line so I ordered quickly. Even though there isn't much service, their electronic kiosk does ask for a tip. Drinks (N/A): Donuts only for me on this visit so I can't comment on their beverages. Food (5/5): Now this is what you've been waiting for. They have an impressive array of impressive donuts. They are known for their creme brulee donut and it lived up to the hype! It's is a delicious glazed donut. Don't pass on it. They also have cronuts and I'm a big fan of cronuts. I went with their chantilly cream cronut which was also delicious with its flaky and sweet goodness. If you've never had a cronut before, don't wait any longer. They have Nutella cronuts on the weekend only so I'll have to return since I stopped by on a weekday. We were visiting in the area and saw this rated as a top spot so had to come check out. The selection of donuts was awesome and we wanted to try everything as it all looked and smelled amazing! Service was quick and friendly, there was a constant flow of people coming in and out and you can tell this is a hot spot for breakfast. Oh my donuts! This place is fabulous! We came on a girls trip back in 2018 and it was our #1 stop we needed to get back to this time, and so glad we did! Amazing selection of donuts. I ordered a dozen of half traditional and half classy donuts to bring to the office. Everyone said they were delicious! I saw a matcha crumb cronut and had to order one for myself. I wish I could relieve the experience of biting into it for the first time. Buttery, flaky goodness filled with matcha cream and had the perfect amount of salt as well. I would go back for that alone but everything else is tempting too!
