This place makes me so happy! I have to work occasionally on Saturdays and my favorite coffee shop doesn't open until 8, so when I found this place and it opens at 7 I thought I would give it a go. OMG! So good and owned by the same people that own my favorite coffee shop Berdenas. Their pastries here are to die for and the coffee just as good as Berdenas. The staff is so friendly and it's just a cute little shop but only has outdoor seating and no public restrooms so keep that in mind.

    Lamination!

Lawsey! I feel sorry for all those people in the Starbucks line that I passed on my way to this unassuming, but divine, store front! I got the almond croissant, a beautifully laminated, almond creme (not paste) filled bit of deliciousness and chased it with a cortado with rose and cardamom syrup. Heavenly! Pass the Starbucks and head here people!

With that said there are regular bakery options too, but you can not go wrong either way because many of the gf options look and taste better than the other bakery options. I got the peach cobbler cupcake, which was almost $7, and for that price I was definitely expecting more. The texture was honestly so strange. The outside was dry and crumbly, while the inside had this really dense, gummy/doughy texture. Somehow it was dry and doughy at the same time. There were actual pieces of peach in it, but I could barely taste any peach flavor. Overall, it just didn't have much flavor at all. I'm not sure if it was specifically the flavor I chose or if it's because I'm not really used to vegan baked goods. I can definitely appreciate that they offer options for people who are vegan, have allergies, or have certain dietary restrictions and still want to satisfy their sweet tooth. But for me personally, the taste and quality just didn't justify paying almost $7 for one cupcake. The customer service didn't really help the experience either. Since it was my first time, I asked the girl at the front what their best sellers were and what she recommended. I was genuinely trying to make conversation and get some guidance on what I should try, but she wasn't very helpful or engaging. It honestly felt like I was talking to a wall. Overall, it's a cute spot and I appreciate what they offer for people with dietary restrictions, but between the price, texture, lack of flavor, and customer service, it just wasn't for me.

The live DJ was INCREDIBLE and really brought the energy. Service was great as well. One thing to know before you go: it gets LOUD, especially on the weekends. We had a hard time hearing each other talk at times, so if you have sensitive ears or prefer a quieter, more relaxed brunch, I'd probably recommend going somewhere a little more low-key. That said, the lively atmosphere is definitely part of the experience, and we personally loved the vibe. Great food, good drinks, amazing music, and lots of energy. If you're looking for a brunch where you can eat, drink, listen to great music, and have a good time, Sugarjam is definitely worth checking out.

We made our reservation online and were seated right away, which made for a great start to our celebration. It took a little while for our waitress to come to our table, but the restaurant was very busy since it was the weekend. Once she arrived, she was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. One thing we really enjoyed was the live DJ, who kept the atmosphere fun with excellent music. We were seated toward the back of the restaurant, which worked out perfectly for our large party and gave us plenty of space to enjoy our meal together. For drinks, we ordered two Bloody Marys, two beers, a mimosa flight, waters, and lemonades. The only disappointment was the Bloody Marys. For the price, we expected them to be garnished with olives and the traditional toppings that usually come with a Bloody Mary. Our table ordered a variety of dishes, including the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, Flapjack Tenders, the French Toast Sandwich (served with breakfast potatoes and syrup), Oxtails with Dirty Rice, and Catfish & Grits. Overall, the food was delicious. The Cinnamon Roll Pancakes were good, although we expected a little more cinnamon roll flavor and icing, similar to what we've experienced at other restaurants. The biggest disappointment was the oxtails. While they were flavorful and well-prepared, the portion size was smaller than expected, especially considering the $43 price tag. A helpful tip for anyone visiting with a large group: the restaurant will only split the check into two separate bills, so it's a good idea to bring cash or plan your payment arrangements in advance. Overall, we had a wonderful experience celebrating our sister's birthday. The lively atmosphere, great music, delicious food, and attentive service made for an enjoyable brunch. We look forward to returning in the future. We also learned that the owner has another restaurant called Soulful Tacos, which we're excited to try soon.

I was scrolling TikTok (yep, I still do that sometimes) when one of their videos popped up and I immediately thought, "Okay... it's time." I decided on a Sunday morning and showed up around 6:45 AM (they open at 7). The parking lot was already pretty full, and I got in line behind about 40 people. Ohhh boy. Once the doors opened the line moved surprisingly fast. Walking inside, the smell of fresh baked goods literally punched me in the face in the best way possible. Since it was my first visit, I went full sample mode: two chocolate chip cookies, a carrot cake truffle bite, a cinnamon roll, a ham & cheese croissant, a pecan sticky bun, and a morning bun. Quite the spread for a little over $50. How was everything? Let me tell you... My wife and I split the cinnamon roll. Ten seconds in the microwave and it was pure magic...soft, gooey, and just melts in your mouth. The balance of sweet and slightly savory was incredible. Then came the ham & cheese croissant... equally outstanding. It was so good that one of our dogs just sat there staring at us like, "Uhh... any chance some of that could fall on the floor?" Fine. He got a little too. We saved a cookie for later and it was just as delicious. I held onto the carrot cake truffle for my wife since she loves anything carrot cake related and she was not disappointed. Damn, what a great find. So glad I live down the street. We will definitely be back!

The ube cheesecake cruffin was such a fun surprise flavor and the carrot cake truffle bite was personally my favorite. I can't speak on the customer service as we never left our table and our waited just walked over and got what we needed. We were pretty stuffed from our massive meal, but we decided on sharing a cup of gelato just to satisfy our sweet tooth. I peeked inside as our table was right at a little walkway from the restaurant to the bakery. Gelato is just one of many things they serve here. They also have all your typical Italian desserts. Cakes like tiramisu, pastries like Italian flag cookies, cookies like Italian wedding cookies, cannolis of different varieties, and of course gelato. What was suggested to us if we wanted gelato was the hazelnut flavor. I was expecting a little cup for the 6 of us just to get a taste, but what he brought over was a massive serving. I don't know how many scoops it was or even how much we even paid, but we all got plenty with some even left behind. Now this gelato was life changing. Probably the best I've had in the states. I know it's gotta be way better in Italy, but I'll take what I can when I can. Think of a Ferrero Rocher but in gelato form. It was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't overly sweet and it had a little crunch with bits of chocolate and hazelnuts. My sweet tooth was extremely satisfied after having dessert here. I have literally been thinking about that gelato since I left Phoenix. Luckily this company has locations in Texas so I will definitely be seeking out this gelato soon.

We've worked our way through what feels like almost the entire dessert case over the years, and I can honestly say I've yet to find something I didn't love. Every pastry is beautifully crafted, incredibly fresh, and tastes like it was made with so much care. This visit was all about the cannoli, and let me just say... craving officially satisfied! The shell had that perfect crisp snap, while the filling was silky, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. It was everything I had been dreaming about and then some. Walking into The Sicilian Baker always feels like stepping into a little slice of Italy. Between the gorgeous display of desserts and the irresistible aroma of fresh pastries, it's nearly impossible to leave with just one treat (don't say I didn't warn you! ). Whether you're stopping in for a post-dinner dessert, celebrating something special, or simply giving in to a sweet tooth like I did, this place is absolutely worth the visit. Every dessert we've tried has been phenomenal, and this cannoli was another delicious reminder of why we keep coming back. Sweet craving? Check. Happiness? Double check.
