I was so excited to finally try Voodoo Doughnut. Inside is decorated super cute and it was bright and clean. The employee was so friendly and I loved the options available! We ordered the Homer, regular glazed, fritter and pop tart. The prices are on par and the donuts are huge. Unfortunately, the donuts tasted like straight grease. Not sure if they always taste like that or maybe they had been sitting a while? I might stop in again but there's tons of great donut shops around.
Always a stop when I'm in town and today I had exceptional service. I placed my order and the guy was very friendly and threw in an extra doughnut "just because". Being away from home in the Pacific Northwest, these acts of kindness are rare and it really just made my day. Kudos to him! As always the doughnuts are exceptional. This was my first time trying the dark roast coffee here and while my first sip was a little bitter, once I paired it with my doughnut it was actually perfect. Thank you Voodoo for giving me a little taste of home!
Having been to Portland LOVED Voodoo Doughnuts, I've been stoked to come and try out the Tempe location. Thankful that there is one closer! The doughnuts were great! We got three vegan ones to go and ate them later in the day. The space is classic and fun, staff was good and we enjoyed our visit!
Voodoo absolutely lives up to the hype. Having visited the original Portland location years ago and being thoroughly impressed, I was excited to see if the Tempe spot delivered, and it did not disappoint. I grabbed a dozen for my hungover crew, and it turned out to be the perfect cure, sweet, satisfying, and morale-boosting enough to repair us for the day.
The first time I tried Voodoo Doughnuts was in Seattle and they still have the same great unique decorations as ever. Decent parking lot with plenty of space. Customer service was good. They were patient with me ordering and designing one of the donuts. LOL Average donut taste. It's all about the wild toppings and colors. I got the captain crunch, bacon maple, butterfinger, and the cock n balls. Special request writing on the last last one. The employees had fun with this one. If you know what movie it's from, you're cool. Check em out if you haven't tried.

Voodoo Doughnuts in Arizona! A staple when visiting Universal Studios on either coast, and so excited to have them locally for the occasional treat. As someone with goth witchy vibes, this location fits my aesthetics and always love stopping in! This location is as beautiful as the other two I have been to at the Universal parks with the same exceptional service. The Portland Cream is a must have every visit and I tried the Blueberry Cake for the first time. Both were exceptional and my friend who tagged along loved hers as well. Definitely worth the 25 mile drive from my place and I'll definitely be back. Yum!

The college kiddos have all the good stuff As a former cali kid myself my heart is filled with memories of going to Universal Studios and walking around City Walk double fisting it with 2 doughnuts So imagine my surprise when I was coming home from a game and saw Voodoo Doughnuts here in Tempe Great open venue Minimal seating so I don't really see this as a spot you're sitting and eating it's more of a order your doughnut and bounce kind of spot Great options and seriously you need to take your time on the doughnut carousel. I always get myself a classic kind of doughnut which was the churro doughnut this time. I mean you can't really go wrong with a churro doughnut and it met all my expectations. I also, ordered a chocolate and peanut butter doughnut and felt like it was the size of my head and I have zero regrets

Well the original doughnut shop opened in Portland Oregon: it was a super quaint shop! Now you can find their shops throughout: universal studios, Denver airport and more! And now on rural street in Phoenix by ASU! This place was a horrible Boston chicken restaurant but not is filled with fresh doughnuts! Not only are they fresh! They are also super clever: with cool names and decor! You can get one named after a rapper: m&m and of course it has m&ms! You can even get custom decorated doughnuts! Beyond doughnuts the shop has super cute clothes for sale! Lastly I like to thank the super friendly staff member who helped me: she said I could take all the time I wanted to decide! Plus she does weddings: she can do your wedding in the shop! Imagine having that on your resume!

We've been wanting to try Voodoo Doughnut for a while, and when we found ourselves in the neighborhood, we decided it was the perfect time! We ordered the Maple Old Fashioned, Dirt (Oreos and icing), Marshall Mallow (M&Ms), Banana Cream Pie, and a cake doughnut with chocolate icing. The Maple Old Fashioned was definitely our favorite! The others were a little too sweet for our taste, but it was fun trying a variety. The service was outstanding the woman behind was so friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely come back to try some other varieties, and next time we're going to give their coffee a try! read more

Donuts were just okay. Too sweet. Seemed gimmicky and not thoughtful. I ordered for delivery and 4 donuts came in a bag?? (The pumpkin one was falling apart so we ate it before taking the picture) What's the point of drawing a design on a donut if I can barely tell the donuts apart. It was giving grocery store and not $4-$5 a piece donut shop. Any decent shop uses a box for more than one donut. Do not recommend. I'll go to Outcast donuts next time. I was seeing what the hype was about but I would give zero stars if I could. read more

I took my son here for his birthday as a new little donut place to go since I've heard such great things. We enjoyed seeing all the donuts on display and so many different flavor choices. It seemed super clean in there and staff was pretty attentive and friendly. My son chose the dirt donut and the voodoo doll one, my daughter chose the Homer and I chose some donut of the month with cheesecake flavor. The kids enjoyed it, only finished 1/3 of one each and I only took a few bites myself too. For us I guess it was just overly sweet, and we found the place to be more hypey I suppose. Love the pink box theme. But to me it was a waste of $20+ since none of us ended up finishing a whole donut. Not for us but I'm sure the right place for many. read more

Pleasantly surprised! We have been searching for a vegan donut at an affordable price for more than a decade and FINALLY seems we found it- VOODOO DOUGHNUT. They have a great selection of vegan donuts but our favorite is the plain old, raised glazed and boy, did it hit the spot! First the size is HUGE, a bit bigger than a competitor that has a flashing red sign (but has eggs in their recipe, not these ones). Next, the soft pillowy texture. Handling it itself is delicate. Then, the melt in your mouth taste. YUMMM, I am in heaven. Of course, it is not healthy, but no one claims it to be. And it is a guilty pleasure you can definitely afford. Very competitive pricing! They seem to be baking at multiple times a day. At mid day, the parking lot was empty, but could smell the fresh baked goods. Worth a visit definitely! After that, if you are hooked, don't blame me! read more
Okay, I'll admit it: I've been avoiding Voodoo Doughtnut because I've only ever heard it's overrated. And I'm sure if I were a Portlander seeing daily lines out the door for donuts, I'd say the same. But we're in Arizona--where you can park and grab a Voodoo Dozen within a minute--and I must say it's a touch better than your average donut shop. Don't let the slightly gimmicky doll-shaped donut deter you. This spot has fantastic flavors: a pink sprinkled donut with *actual* strawberry flavor (my favorite), one of the best maple bacon donuts I've tried, jelly and cream donuts that are nicely filled without literally oozing with sweetness. They also have an interesting grape donut (not my thing, but so unique and my friends loved it!). The Voodoo Dozen was the perfect treat to contribute to a Halloween party, and all of us thoroughly enjoyed sampling each option. I'm not even a frequent donut eater, and I'd return! read more

Whoever decided to open the Valley's first Voodoo Doughnut shop near ASU campus was quite clever. And they open late hours after the bars get out which I'm sure gets a nice crowd. Even before they expanded, Voodoo Doughnuts already had a reputation around the U.S. as this killer iconic doughnut shop in Portland that had lines out the door. They were featured on Anthony Bourdain's show many years ago. For me, it was the first time that I had ever seen doughnuts with crazy toppings like cereal and bacon on the top of them. I eventually made my first visit to a Voodoo Doughnut location on a trip to Colorado. I also picked up a Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale to pair with my doughnut. Voodoo Doughnuts offers more than fifty artisan flavors including vegan options. They are known for their creative names like "Grape Ape", "Voodoo Doll", "Memphis Mafia" and "Cock and Balls". The Bacon Maple Bar and The Homer are some of their best sellers. I like that they have a menu on the outside of the building with pictures of the doughnuts on it. It allows you to decide what you want before you go inside. Voodoo Doughnuts are also known for their pink boxes and merchandise. The doughnuts are laid out on a revolving display case so that you can visually see them. Even though the sugar overload is usually a bit much for me, it is fun to fill up a pink box with a variety of choices. Just keep in mind that the bill adds up quick. read more

Not much is better than a freshly made doughnut. We had the pleasure of staying at the hotel across the street from this new location, and stopped in multiple times during our stay! The interior is bright and pink with a bit of that classic Voodoo Doughnut flair. This is an easy-to-access shop off of Rural Road with free parking. Plus -m they're open late, which is part of the Voodoo magic. Some of the best doughnuts I've ever eaten were served well after midnight at other Voodoo locations (Portland and Austin) - so I had high expectations for this store. Some of my go-to's - like the Apple Fritter and the Homer - definitely lived up to the hype I remember. Some others, specifically the Peppermint Chocolate Crunch, were a little dry for my taste. Even still, I'm thrilled to have experienced Voodoo's newest location in Tempe, and definitely recommend a visit to anyone in the area! read more

I love the concept, the creative donuts and their flavors. The whole vibe of the shop, the box, their merch, the display cases, etc. It's cool and matches my style. I wanted the giving donut but it was sold out. I assume because it's the donut that gives back to a charitable cause. Maybe next time. It was so hard to choose flavors because they all look great. I settled on the ones pictured which includes the signature Voo Doo doll donut. The prices are high because they're specialty so be prepared for the total. My only wish is to make a create your own box for a discounted rate, in a half dozen option. Aside from this, it was a great experience. I'll for sure be back for the Givint donut sometime. read more

Finally got to try these donuts! I believe they are originally from Portland. They remind me a bit of Dunkin and even the smell of the donuts. I got the voodoo box which is 13 donuts. It's pretty pricey like $30, if not it's you pay per donut. The powder donut is so good. The donuts are fresh and soft. Also the m&m one, dang that's a lot of candy on there. read more

Well, unless you conjure up her spirit in a seance we may never know but whether you are a voodoo queen or love cuckoo cuisine, all that have a sweet tooth will find enjoyment in these doughy delights. I got a half dozen of some various donuts. In addition to some of the more elaborate designs, they also have plain cake for those that are purists. I got a few filled (banana cream pie, voodoo, mango tango), an "O Captain My Captain," (AKA Captain Crunch topped donut), a plain cake, and an apple cannolo. They were packaged in a giant pink box and we were off to enjoy! I enjoyed the filling in the mango tango and voodoo donut, which had great mango and raspberry flavor. The banana flavoring in the banana cream pie wasn't that great to me, it tasted too artificial but my husband enjoyed it. I didn't try the apple cannolo but it did look mighty delicious and no complaints from my husband who also had the plain cake.The tiny tot had the Captain Crunch donut and she gave a full salute to this captain! The iconic Portland doughnut phenomenon, Voodoo Doughnuts, has open a brand new location in Tempe. The crowds during the opening few days open were completely bananas (wrapped around the block). Luckily, we were able to somehow magically order online and that made life a whole lot easier. We got a Voodoo dozen, which includes a staff-picked bakers dozen featuring some classics and some Voodoo Crazy. Plus a few other donuts that we absolutely had to try. A few of my favorite ones included the Grape Ape, Strawberry Go-tart, Vicious Hibiscus, and the Voodoo Doll. Probably my favorite part is that each Voodoo Doll Doughnut looks different and that's just super fun. You have to get one when you go to see what your spooky little doughnut doll will end up looking like. Overall the donuts were slightly sweet for my taste and the crowds were a little much. But now that things have calm down a bit after the initial buzz has kind of worn off, we'd definitely go back. The custom doughnut order options look pretty interesting as well and I'll be looking into those as well. read more

Portland-loved and Tempe-treated, Voodoo Doughnuts has made its way to the Land of the Sun Devils; Fork 'em, Devils! If you haven't been to Voodoo Doughnuts, you're in for a treat. Voodoo Doughts is famous for introducing the world to the bacon maple bar. On my inaugrual trip to this new Tempe location, I got the Voodoo Doll (of course!), Voodoo Bubble, Maple Cream, and the Viscious Hibiscus. Not one bad doughnut was had and I low-key wish I got the Voodoo dozen because I want to try them all! This location is definitely loved by the Sun Devils. Most of the customers seem to have walked over from campus and I have never been more jealous in my life. I'm both sad and happy to not be living too close to Voodoo --- sad because they're oh so good and happy because my wallet would be wrecked, haha! read more

4 stars because I think they are good doughnuts, but also, because I didn't have a long line to wait in and I thought the price was decent, $12. I have spent that much at hurts or bosa donuts before. Overall, I'm not hugely picky when it comes to doughnuts. They are baked sugar bombs so what's not to like? It's a pastry, chill people. My test for if a place has good doughnuts is to try their old fashioned and if that's good then it sets the tone. I had the chocolate one, it was good. A little crispy on the outside and soft in the center. It's not the best old fashioned donut I've had but it was good. And I'm the kind of person who also will use donut and doughnut interchangeably, so if that drives you nuts well then... So a couple things to note- this location is in the heart of college town and ASU peeps are mainly who else was there at 10pm. I live down the road in north Tempe so I'm used to the campus feel, I really love the ASU area! I don't usually feel "old" but tonight it was different, I was certainly the most elder person in the store lol. Everyone looked so young to me, that's how you know you're getting older ;) Maybe it's just how it is for a middle aged chick on a Tuesday at 10 pm in a college area doughnut shop haha. So my sage wisdom is this- 1. Don't wait in a long line for these donuts. They are good but not worth wasting time over. 2. If you have favorites don't feel bad for ordering them in place of the cool looking donuts. 3. Alternatively don't be lame and only order the standard favors, go wild and get something new. I should have done that. 4. Have fun, it's a cool little donut shop that became popular in Portland. Love that city. 5. Do stare at the rotating donut case, it's a thing of beauty! read more

Donuts anyone? I heard the noise about this place a few weeks back. I saw the long lines from social media, and I was going to wait it out for a month or so. I ain't about that life to stand in long lines. I was around the area, and I saw no lines. I took the opportunity on a Tuesday night to stop in. I really like the viscous hibiscus donut. It's a tart dounut. The maple cream is good too. I will stop by again to try the other flavors. FYI: Becareful stepping out of the Voodoo donut shop. I stopped by with friends on Friday around midnight and we were happy that the line wasn't bad. We found a parking spot right at the front entrance and we saw that a lot of people had parked in the vicinity and were walking. We stood outside for about 25 minutes until we finally made it to the door. It was warm out but not too hot. My friends and I are from Arizona so the heat was tolerable but for someone that is not used to the heat, I can see how it could've have been miserable. Once inside the AC was at full blast. Tip: Maybe install some misters outside? We waited in the inside line for another 20 minutes and then it was finally our turn. We ordered 7 doughnuts in total. We tried: One sprinkle Two hibiscus One homer One Voodoo doll One plain One powder There were a few flavors that we wanted but they were sold out :( Our total was about $24 and the cashier was very friendly. She did mess up the icing a bit when handling and boxing some of our doughnuts but no biggie... The outside has three tables so we sat there for a bit to eat. (This area would be perfect with misters) None of the doughnuts were dry which is a plus. On the inside they were airy and soft and the cake textured ones were soft and moist. The icing wasn't too sweet and they all had unique flavors. Do buy a drink though because you will get thirsty! The inside is cute and the chandeliers are beautiful. I saw some cute merch available for sale but I did not buy any. Overall we had fun, the experience was great, and the doughnuts were good. The donuts at Voodoo are large. I purchased a variety to try. I was excited to try the donuts because I had heard about them before. One of my friends had visited one of their original locations in another state. Each of the cannolos have different flavors, I liked the way the sweet cream cannolo tasted. On the picture of their donuts in the store, the cannolos look like they have the different colored fillings. Of course, because this is a donut, the outside of it was soft. I think it would be exciting if it had a little bit of a crispy crunch to the outside layer of the donut. Otherwise, I would say that this was my favorite donut at voodoo. I especially enjoyed the cream filling. The filling had a clean and non-greasy buttery flavor. I also had a doughnut with Oreos on top. There are two donuts with Oreos on top, but the one that I had was the circular one without the hole in the middle that had a chocolate frosting. That one, they named "dirty old." I thought it would have a filling, because I thought it was a raised shell doughnut and not a raised ring doughnut. The one that I had was good, I could taste chocolate and Oreo. I was glad I could not taste the peanut butter drizzle. The second favorite donut I tried was the maple cream. It had a raised shell filled with Bavarian cream and was topped with maple frosting. It was supposed to have been decorated with a mustachioed face, but I couldn't really see it since the frosting all blended together. I enjoyed the Bavarian cream part of the donut the best because the flavor was good. The maple flavor was also delicious. I may have liked the Portland cream a little better with the chocolate frosting instead. Another donut I tried, was the mango tango. I didn't know what flavor it was before eating it. The mango tango has a raised shell filled with mango jelly and topped with vanilla frosting. The mango flavoring was very light, and I wasn't quite sure that it was mango. In a blind taste test, I would have thought it was some sort of fruit. This was practically the case here because I had forgotten what flavors were which in the donuts. My third favorite was the raspberry with the raised shell filled with raspberry and topped with glaze. I also tried the banana cream pie donut with banana Bavarian cream, dipped in vanilla frosting and topped with cinnamon and banana chip. I usually like Buttermilk style cakes, but didn't get it here. The voodoo doll donut looked cute. It is a raised yeast doughnut filled with raspberry jelly, topped with chocolate frosting and a pretzel stake. I also didn't purchase this one during this visit. The graphic on the box and the names and the styles of most their donuts are appropriate for the upcoming Halloween season. I feel like they opened their store just in time for the Halloween season. The pictures on their website don't seem to match the pictures of the cannolos on the donut photograph in their store. The other cannolo flavor listed on the website was wild berry. They might rotate flavors. read more
