Flew into Pheonix and needed to grab a quick breakfast and coffee. Saw this spot was on my way and highly rated on Google. Orderd a strawberry blueberry smoothie, iced honey comb latte and breakfast sandwich. The smoothie was perfectly blended with wonderful fruit flavor without a bunch of added sugar. The latte was delightful with real honeycomb and perfectly sweetened creamy deliciousness with the rich delightful coffee. That breakfast sandwich though! The fresh made english muffin was filled with cheesy bacon perfectly cooked egg goodness. My only regret was not ordering one of their pastries! The shop is cute, clean and inviting located in what appears to be a business park of sorts. There is no seating but you are greeted with a delectable display of their pastries. Their lunch menu also looked delicious! The lady helping me was as sweet as their pastries looked! Will absolutely return when I am in the area!! read more

Great small coffee shop in Tempe, Az! Tried their iced honey cinnamon latte and it was so good. They have fresh baked pastries and everything looked delicious. Kind service, clean, and not much room to sit this is more of a grab and go. read more

Finally had the chance to get to Experiment coffee and pastry. They are only open Monday-Friday which is a bummer as I usually venture to that side of town on weekends. They were located in an industrial warehouse type area. The inside is super small and no tables. Right when you enter they have all the pastries laid out. Cookies, croissants, breads, cinnamon rolls, lots of options. We ordered 2 lattes- a pumpkin pie and caramelized pistachio. We got a breakfast sandwich, cinnamon roll and cookie. The pastries and sandwich were all fabulous! Great flavor and freshly baked. The lattes were a bit watered down and not a super strong bean. I would definitely go back for the pastries if I happen to be in the area on a weekday again. read more

Nice, little to-go cafe! It's a very small cafe with two little stools and there are two tables outside, but it's definitely a grab and go kinda place. I got the churro cold brew and the breakfast sandwich. I liked the coffee a lot, the flavor and sweetness was perfect for me. The sandwich was just ok - the cheese was spicy for me and the English muffin was a bit tough. I'll have to come back to try a pastry as they seem to be popular. The woman working there seemed very kind. read more

I'm not going to lie. I've had many danishes and this one was by far my favorite. Every bite was so fresh and tasty. It was the soft and with a slight crunchy edge. I also got a cookie butter latte that came with a biscotti cookie. I thought the hot latte was delightful and paired well with the danish. The coffee shop is very tiny so I wouldn't recommend coming with a large party if you're looking for indoor seating. The woman who took my order was also very nice! I would definitely come back if I lived here. read more

I stopped by with my sister yesterday for some pastries and a drink. We walked on in and there was already a customer being helped and someone else walked in right after us. The cashier was super friendly as she welcomed us in and took our order. We ordered one berry matcha and two croissants - one pistachio and one regular. It was already later in the day - close to their closing time so a lot of pastries were already sold out for the day. Both croissants were DELICIOUS. They were flakey, buttery, and super yummy. They also had a nice little crisp to them. The matcha really wasn't our favorite as it was too bitter and we couldn't taste the flavoring. There were a few tables outside with chairs. I cant wait to be back for some more croissants! read more

I thank my fellow Yelpers for guiding me here! If you find yourselves around Southern and Priest roads in Tempe and enjoy coffee and fresh pastries it would be worthwhile for you to stop here. This Johnathan Robbin's wholesale bakery opened in 2020 and has been offering unique pastries and coffees since. Be prepared to have your goodies to go or have a casual sit at one of two of their tables outside. They were sold out of their well known kouigan Amman so I went with their strawberry cream croissant for $5.75. It was fresh and soft though I wished there was a bit more of strawberry and cream filling. On the other hand their almond glazed croissant $6.75 had NO filling but did have a fantastic clear glaze topped with slivered almonds that was flakey and just delicious! Their signature latte $5 which is espresso, honey, bourbon syrup and steamed milk that usually is accompanied by whip cream but I skipped it but opted for oat milk 85 cents due to my intolerance to dairy milk. On my inaugural visits to new spots, I usually order signature items and glad I did but I preferred the pumpkin latte more-$5.25! It probably is a good thing that this business isn't around the corner from me or I'd be there many days a week-but if I'm craving fresh baked scones, cookies or croissants I know where to go! read more

This coffee shop definitely matches its name when it comes to it's food options, they are experiments! The shop had a lot of fun choices I got the Ham and Gruyere Croissant (delicious) and the Fig and Goat Cheese Danish (also delicious). I was extremely happy with my food, the only thing I wish was different was to have more fig on the Danish. I really love figs so that may be an iffy feedback for others. The staff are really friendly and they provide quick services. They also give great recommendations and details about the food. The building is located in an industrial area and may be tricky to find even with Google maps (mine didn't navigate correctly). So just keep that in mind when driving there. There is parking in front of the store, with reserved parking for the store. The parking lot is a little tight. If you have a bigger vehicle I would recommend parking on the street, adds less than a minute to the walk. Overall great experience and I am happy I EXPERIMENTED and tried Experiment Coffee and Pastry. I will be back! read more

This is a long overdue review, but this place is truly a gem, and part of me is like why don't more people know about it! It's a small brick and mortar, open only during the weekdays, but if you have time to stop, definitely give it a shot. Kouign Amann - seriously one of the best, flakey, caramelized, lots of lamination Banana bread - reminds me of Flour Bakery's (Boston); it has a ton of walnuts, so if you're a walnut in banana bread lover, give there's a shot! Cinnamon roll - beautifully braided, not your typical cinnamon roll but lacking nothing the classic one has! read more

Really enjoyed this place. My friend and I were greeted immediately as we entered, it's a small little spot in a plaza. A little tricky to find and seems a tad out of place so I hope they do well with the unconventional location. I got an iced pistachio latte that had little bits of poctachio. Very delicious, and my friend just got a hot drip coffee with cream which was very good as well. This spot does best with their pastries, we got the fig, goat cheese, and walnut pastry which was amazing, and also the 'best cookie' which is was the best cookie. The breakfast sandwich was also very delicious I'd come here again to get a box of pastries for an event because everything was delicious and fresh! read more

Came here for a coffee pick me up. This is a tiny place and a one woman show! When you enter you are greeted so warmly and have a feast of pastries. I got a vanilla latte and I couldn't say no to a cheese danish. The danish was the best I've ever had. It was incredible. The vanilla latte was perfect as well, not too sweet and well balanced. I will definitely be coming back. read more

The absolute best croissants and pastries! A very unassuming storefront with such a friendly and knowledgeable cashier. This place is a true hidden gem! I've had the pistachio croissant, danish, cinnamon roll, and kouign-amann and they were all exquisite! A must try. Doesn't even compare to the other big name patisseries. read more

Small place with a great selection of baked goods! The location is interesting - small building in the middle of an array of office parks The coffee menu is pretty standard, but my Americano was very good. Low acid and smooth. The baked goods selection looks delicious. I opted to a cinnamon roll. Was big and so good. Not super sweet either. Service was fast and friendly. Not much ambiance, small joint. N*joy! read more

Experiment Coffee and Pastry is my favorite place to grab something sweet and a good coffee (when I want some caffeine). Every time I go, it just feels so welcoming and nice. You know, that spot you just instantly love? I highly recommend it! Okay, let's start with the pastries because they are everything. You absolutely have to try the Kouign-amann. It is out of this world! I don't know what kind of magic they use, but it's this perfectly buttery, flaky, caramelized treat. It's my absolute must-get, every time I walk in the door. Their fruit danishes are wonderful too. The pastry is light and crispy, and they always use the freshest fruit on top. Delicious! Of course, I visit for the sweets, but their coffee is good too. I've had one of their seasonal Iced Lattes. It wasn't too strong or too sweet, just right. You can tell they really pay attention to everything they make here. If you're looking for amazing pastries and quality coffee, you should definitely make a stop at Experiment Coffee and Pastry. You're going to love it! read more

Experiment Coffee and Pastry - Pistachio Croissant - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

Cute little coffee shop with fresh pastries made daily! Standing room only inside -- it's pretty tight quarters, but my husband and I were happy to see a couple tables outside to sit and enjoy our treats at. I would say all stars go to the pastries! Customer service was pleasant as well. The coffee just didn't do it for me. I appreciated that the coffee wasn't bitter, but the flavor didn't stick out and the additional flavor that made my drink a specialty latte missed the mark. I ordered the maple specialty latte and you really couldn't tell that it had any maple flavor. If the coffee flavoring was more prominent, this place would be 5 stars, for sure. read more

Found this precious place while waiting for my appointment in Tempe. Hands down all around delicious. All her pastrie (croissants, cookies , muffins and other gourmet pastries) are made fresh daily. She is very friendly and takes the time to describe the gourmet pastries. I didn't have coffee but my husband got a Carmel macchiato. He enjoyed it. I got the expresso filled with vanilla crème drizzled with caramel sauce. My hubby got a cinnamon roll. Plus she has a weekly lunch special of the day. She is open M-F 6am to 2 pm. Hands down, my favorite coffee shop in Tempe. Experiment Coffee & Pastry is a hidden gem that seriously deserves all the love. Every visit feels like a treat, but this last one? Perfection. The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the sweetest barista who made the whole experience even better. She was super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave me two amazing recommendations: the cookie butter latte and the cookie butter croissant. Say less--both were incredible. The latte was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced--not too sweet, not too strong, just right with that dreamy cookie butter flavor. And the croissant? Flaky, buttery, and filled with cookie butter goodness. You can really taste the love in everything they make here. One of the things I appreciate most is that the pastries are freshly baked every morning, and you can tell. They're creative, high-quality, and consistently delicious. The coffee? Strong, flavorful, and never bitter--exactly how I like it. Whether you're stopping in for a quick caffeine fix or looking to treat yourself with something sweet, this place delivers every single time. Amazing service, delicious drinks, fresh pastries, and cozy vibes--what more could you ask for? I'll be back again and again. If you haven't been, go! And definitely ask the barista for her recs--she knows what she's talking about. read more

The store is a very cute one within an industrial / work area. I like that it isn't some over the top fancy joint. This tiny shop has a heart of GOLD and big passion for what they do for people in the area! They make the pastries next door and the baristas are mixing liquid concoctions to get you on your day as fast as their little hands allow! I bought loads of pastries but I had to "try" my Zucchini Bread, first to "baptize" this little gem! It was nice and moist on the inside with visible zucchini strips and flavors on the inside. Don't wait too long because this place WILL be a local favorite here in Tempe! It does so much for the local working industry but don't be embarrassed to share what you buy to spread the love! Jess was awesome dealing, making and collecting goodies for all customers walking in. Loved it read more

I'm not being dramatic when I say their strawberry rhubarb croissant, and their espresso croissants were the two best pastries that I have ever eaten. Truly life-changing and no other croissants will ever compare. The woman at the counter was super friendly and funny. Everything inside the coffee shop looks so good. I cannot believe that this place doesn't have more hype. It is in kind of a weird location tucked back in an industrial area, but it's definitely worth it. read more

I just saw that the owner replied to my review. I genuinely don't care that they were sold out of pastries, I understand. It was the attitude and demeanor. I genuinely have no reason to lie about what time it was or lie about the fact that she told the next guy who walked in that they were closed. I literally watched and heard the conversation. I never said I didn't like her voice, I said I didn't like her attitude. Have a good day! read more

Near our space there wasn't much to choose for a Monday coffee but this spot did not disappoint! The coffee and unique pastries were amazing and so fun to try. It is in a business district tucked behind various offices but has some outside seating for those not wanting to grab and go. The space inside is tiny, so plan to order and take it either outside or to go. Lots of fun options and the coffee was perfect. Would for sure go back there if in the area again, and they seemed to have a lot of regulars which always speaks well of a coffee shop. read more

Experiment Coffee is a little tiny place tucked away in an industrial complex. The first time I journeyed to find it, I thought my navigation may have gotten confused but I decided to trust the process only to find my hidden treasure!! The sign immediately called me in. Walking through the doors, I instantly was comforted by the soothing scent of fresh baked pastries & brewed coffee. The young lady at the counter was helpful & friendly. Allowing plenty of time to look around and make my difficult decision on what to eat now and what to take with me across town to share with my family. There's limited seating outside and plenty of parking. Look for the specialty drink list/menu at the counter and food specials on the board when you walk in to the left of the door. Remember, they are closed on the weekends. Happy to see a store that doesn't burn out their staff. This is for sure on the top of my list as a go to for fresh baked goods!!!! Thank you read more

There's no seating inside but there are tables outside for a chill relaxing spot, I was able to enjoy my food and work at the same time even in December, it was beautiful. There's food was excellent I had the turkey brioche, Caramel Pistachio latte, The Best Cookie, & Kouign-Amann. The baked goods looked really good and I tried the everything cookie and their signature Kouign Amann. They were both delicious! The fact that such an exquisite bakery is tucked away and so tiny is criminal. There is nothing mediocre here. They also serve 1 lunch dish that changes every day. And they keep their weekly menu updated on their website which is so rare but convenient The lunched I've tried have been very good but I usually just grab a savory pastry for lunch so I haven't had a ton of options. Tucked away inside an industrial park is this wonderful bakery and cafe! I am so happy I stopped by this morning before heading back to Mesa. I walked in and saw the line-up of pastries and if I had a bunch of money, I would have had one of each! I always order a chocolate croissant wherever I go and for my husband, I ordered a pecan chocolate chip cookie. My drink this morning was an iced honeycomb latte with whole milk. The croissant was amazing - so soft and buttery! I honestly think this was the best croissant I've had. The PCC was also very good and I regret sharing it.
