I'm an americano purist -- every trip I take, I make it a point to hunt down the best cup in the area. Better Buzz did not disappoint. Their americano ($4.69) has this natural sweetness at the finish that comes straight from the beans, not from anything added. Genuinely one of the best americanos I've had in my life. I liked it so much I bought a bag of their beans to take home. On the food side, I tried the cherry danish ($5.29) and the Crumbonne ($5.29). The Crumbonne is a fun concept, monkey bread in muffin form, but the texture fell a little flat and it didn't quite live up to the idea. The danish was fine, nothing memorable. That said, the experience was still a 5/5 for me. I visited around 9 AM when the shop was peaceful and easy to find a seat. Plus, the staff were memorably friendly. If you appreciate a truly well-crafted coffee, this is the spot. The Americano alone is worth the trip. read more

Tried Better Buzz and ordered the Vanilla Bean Latte. It was definitely tasty, but wow... it was so sweet. It honestly felt a little like dessert at 9 a.m. I'm not sure if they can adjust the sugar level, but I'd probably ask for that next time or try it with a different milk to balance it out a bit. I was buzzing (maybe a little too much!) for the rest of my workday. That said, the staff was lovely. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, which made the experience really nice. I love Better Buzz, and I'm so glad they are expanding all over the valley! I really love the special banana pudding drink they've had recently, and decided to get it again! When I arrived around 9am on a week day, there was no line and I was able to place my order quickly! They also have an app that can be used for ordering online and picking up in store. The dining room was clean and stocked, I love the fun colors and lights they use for decoration. There were grab and go drinks for purchase as well as personalized merchandise. I visited this Better Buzz location when it first opened back in late 2024 and it was a little underwhelming then so I had not been back. It also is not in the general area I frequent so that was another reason. A friend of mine was raving to me about their new Best Drink Ever - Banana Pudding flavor which I of course had to see about myself. Banana Pudding is often one of those flavors that is hard to replicate without tasting too artificial or just like banana cream pie but this drink exceeded my expectations! I mean, I could've eaten that cold foam by itself . I also ordered a Crumbonne. The baristas inside were ok, the store itself was very clean and efficient also. I really like this coffee shop! It is beautifully decorated with a decent amount of seating. The menu is unique with some interesting seasonal options. I purchased the mint infused iced coffee and my friend ordered the hazelnut divinity (iced). Both drinks were delicious. The barista even offered to make me a new drink if I did not like the mint infused iced coffee (since you cannot sample). Wow!!! Stopped by today and they had recently launched some new refreshers and they sounded incredible. The cashier was super friendly and offered lots of great suggestions! Smooth, sweet and the perfect caffeine hug after a long shift. Now the acai bowls deserve a shout-out too. I've tried the OG Deluxe and the Blue Crush -- both solid 4 out of 5 stars. Fresh, filling, and beautifully topped. And listen: they actually give you a full bowl. It's not one of those rip-off places charging $13 for a teacup-sized portion. You get your money's worth and then some.Worth every penny! Now... let's talk croissants. The almond one...Dry. Like... Sahara desert dry. The pistachio croissant had no real flavor. I've only had one "meh" encounter, but 99% of the time, they're on point. One time they gave me a banana loaf instead of my usual zucchini! It was my first time at this location and it's smaller but cutie! I've only been to Better Buzz a handful of times, typically back in San Diego and over ten years ago! This is my first time experiencing a Better Buzz Coffee. I've passed by this place 1 million times and finally decided to give them a try. Their building is decorated cutely with the honeycomb pattern and bees. I went through the drive-through. I love that. The drive-through has two lanes to order from. It makes things so much easier and flow better. They have a great menu with plenty of options. They have lattes galore: snickerdoodle, honey, chai and now pumpkin too. There are tea options. They have breakfast items, wraps and bakery items too. I ordered the Horchata latte with a peanut butter cookie. I was not disappointed with the cookie, nice moist and oversized. My latte was perfectly balanced, not too sweet. I love the amount of cinnamon, you can actually taste it. I always order light ice and some places are heavy on the ice. They did it perfectly. The doors have like gold plated "B" handles, I felt like I was the queen of England walking in this place. The blended mocha caught my attention, and the cashier told me we could add caramel, which I agreed to! The drinks were out quick, they call your name if you use your loyalty number. Mine was delish but a little sweet (nothing wrong with the drink, I just don't have much of a sweet tooth). My friend and I plopped in a corner and read our Bible together. There was much positive community buzz for Better Buzz leading up to their first Arizona opening in Tempe. A friend of mine lives nearby and ranted/raved about them so I decided to check them out recently for breakfast. The decor/interior design is honeycomb everything, everywhere - super cute! I decided to do walk-in/carry out rather than drive thru since I had some time. Seems like they are still working out the organizational kinks because it took awhile to get my drink, waaay after my sandwich. The Better Breakfast is a solid sandwich, but silly me, I forgot to ask for no cheese (havarti). Unknown if that is an option. The price is a pain point... California esque coffee prices from a California brand in AZ. ::sigh:: Another bummer - they don't offer plain cold drip coffee. Just cold brew and nitro cold brew options. For someone like myself who dislikes hot coffee and doesn't need a caffeine boost from cold brew/nitro, the only real option is an espresso or a dairy-free latte, which gets pricey when you want just some cold coffee over ice! Price alone makes me feel very "meh" about Better Buzz... I'm probably better off saving my money and getting my caffeine buzz at home. read more

Today is National Coffee Day, and I am expresso-ly excited for it. This foodie holiday commemorates the date when the United States received its first shipment of coffee from Brazil on September 29, 1723. Beans to that! Two drinks were ordered on our first visit to this mellow yellow coffee shop: Best Drink Ever (classic Americano with creamy vanilla) and a Cinnamon Cold Brew with the seasonal cold foam added. Both drinks were good, and I quite enjoyed the seasonal cold foam. Of the two drinks, the Best Drink Ever was the star. It really lived up to its name. We went this morning for a quick caffeine and breakfast run. We went through the drive thru. It was a long line, but it went fast. The guy that took our order was nice as well as the girl at the drive thru window. The coffee is excellent! Some of the best coffee I've had since moving to Tempe. The latte was not too sweet which I like. They have alternative milk there if you like oat milk or almond milk. The wrap was great, it came out piping hot. Congratulations to Better Buzz on their grand opening day in Tempe!! I don't normally show up to a new place on day one, but I've been secretly waiting for them to open closer to home, so I don't have to drive all the way to North Phoenix! Also, what better way to celebrate my birthday with a delicious breakfast? I ordered their iced pumpkin spice latte and had my pistachio croissant warmed up. The level of sweetness of both were just right. Be sure to check out their bakery shelf - so many yummy treats!!! For about an hour in the dining area, I saw every single customer greeted in unison by the team (think of when you showed up at a Japanese restaurant and the servers and chefs all yelled out "Irasshaimase!!"), it's so cool!! I was so tempted to get their merch, but I'm glad that I showed up early enough as they were giving out the hat, hot drink cup, and stickers to thank their customers. I ordered the horchata latte and the coffee was so bitter! I wasn't a fan at all, it didn't really have an horchata flavor either. The staff was friendly and it was recommended- I had 3 sips and stopped drinking it. I also got the chili crisp burrito - it was okay, the spiciness of the chili crisp was lacking...17.00 for an iced coffee I threw out and a burrito that lacked spice. 4/19/25: Short version - This particular Saturday we wanted to try someplace new for a quick bite to eat. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my sister is -- and we were more interested in a quick sandwich anyway. Better Buzz satisfied the craving. It was quick, and food was decent. Long version - There's a nice patio on the west side of the building (not sure it's going to be shaded enough for the coming summer, though; I did not notice misters), pretty decent parking, and the store was clean. The tiling on the floor in front of the counter was a bit disorienting. :-) I liked they had compostable straws. What I didn't like was that although their signage indicated they participate in recycling, it turned out to be a lie. The gentleman was very nice about explaining how, because they are a California-based company, they had to put up California signage. What this means is that although you may feel good about recycling the items, in truth you are simply adding to the landfill. Not cool. I mean, if they can offer compostable straws, why can't they offer recycling and/or other compostable containers? Another bummer was that although we ordered for dine in, we were both given our sammies in plastic containers. Of course both drinks came in plastic cups, but that was to be expected. I was just hoping to limit our plastic consumption. Ah well, now we know. I am not a coffee connoisseur so I cannot say Better Buzz is better than say, Starbucks, Dutch Bros, or any of the other numerous coffee spots. I can say the food was decent (if not mediocre), the staff was friendly, and the tea buzz (matcha) was flavorful, w/o having the matcha be overpowering.
