During my second visit to Denver, I was determined to find a nice Creole restaurant to try. First on my list right off the plane was Lucile's. Based upon the reviews I figured it would be a good start, however it did fall short IMO. Food * Biscuit: The biscuit was large, fluffy & edible. 8/10. * Cajun Breakfast: I figured I would try something different but wish I hadn't. There was a lack of seasoning & the potatoes were fried quite hard. The food came out somewhat cold so that didn't help but tells me it wasn't freshly made just thrown together & it showed. It took the mimosa & me being hungry to eat what I could. I highly would not recommend! 2/10. My husband used to live in New Orleans and constantly misses the food from there so we were pleased to find Lucile's close to our house! We stopped by for a brunch situation after a hike. I ordered a shrimp po boy and was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a side of some wasabi sauce. I love wasabi and felt like this would be a great accompaniment to the po boy. However, the sauce was very chalky tasting. Kind like wasabi flavored chalky water? My stomach also did not feel great for the rest of the day. My husband got the red beans and rice with andouille sausage and was not impressed with it. He said the beans reminded him of Busch beans. I was let down with our experience at Lucile's. read more

This is a great place. Very authentic feel to it and a Cajun breakfast sounds good to me. I age. To say...the portions are HUGE. We took about half home. Stupidly, we ordered the Beignets (which were perfect!) then realized a massive fresh biscuit came with the entree order. My daughter had the blackened Salmon breakfast with a side of collard greens and I had the Cajun breakfast with red beans and potatoes with cheese on top. This is NOT a place for a diet. I met a friend here for brunch in a Sunday morning. There was no wait which was lovely. This place is much bigger compared to the Boulder location. We ordered beignets, a latte and hot chocolate. The latte was good in just not a fan of the big cups they used. I had the basic breakfast of eggs bacon grits and a biscuit. It was good. The bacon was perfect! I love how eclectic this place is with everything being mismatched, but it somehow all works together perfectly. Everyone that works here was extremely nice. Started with the Beignets, which were delicious, but huge! I definitely almost died from all the powdered sugar I inhaled, but it was worth it. Honestly, outside of New Orleans itself, these were some of the best beignets I've had. I do wish I had some chocolate or caramel sauce to dip it in though. I didn't like the cornbread they served as it was really dry. I ended up getting the Blackened Salmon as my main and it was too good. I couldn't stop eating it even after I was full. Soo much flavor and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were also really good and flavorful. My friend got the Crab Eggs Benedict and the plate was too cute! They turned the whole thing into a crab (see picture)! My friend enjoyed the flavoring of it as well. While not the best food I've ever had, it is one of the better diners I've had in a long time. Lucile's is delicious! The portion sizes were giant for the price, and the food was amazing and fresh. Their chai and dirty chai are both to die for, and my husband and I finished every sip. The fruit that came with my breakfast was ripe and fresh, not squishy. The pancakes were amazing with the praline syrup, and my husband loved his eggs and grits. The staff was friendly, and our food came out quickly. We came in a weekday in the morning, so it was much easier to secure a table than it would've been on a weekend. Parking spaces available in the back. I like the way they have the tables set up inside, with space from each other. I've been to other locations where the guests sit a little bit too close in my opinion. Our server did a wonderful job, she clearly cared about giving excellent service. The restaurant its self is gorgeous! It feels like you're eating at your grandmas house I love it. The staff is very nice and quick. Their chicory coffe is excellent has that butter hint that I love. Also fresh squeezed orange juice to order will wake you up as much as the coffee! I got the Pan Purdue (French Toast) with the fruit and scramble eggs and Louisiana sausage. So adorable this New Orleans style, Cafe. This charming little southern nook was absolutely darling. Very adorable mixed, matched from the decor to the dining utensils, and even the toiletries. Large tables for dining, vintage, and antique decor with plenty of windows for lighting. The countertop for dining is unique and inviting. First, let's start out with sweet fresh squeezed orange juice and a nice blend of coffee. Here, they are in all their glory beignets. Square shaped lightly toasted and so light and airy, and did I mention smothered in powdered sugar? YUM! Now, that's heavenly I ordered the Eggs Eisenhower with potatoes and bacon. The potatoes were heavily seasoned and a little on the dry side. The homemade ketchup was devine and bursting with flavor. The bacon was flavorful and a little dry. The eggs were plentiful and enjoyable, but room temperature. Also included were 2 generous size homemade biscuits and jam. Just looking at them had my mind thinking of how good they were going to be. Yep, the biscuits brought back memories for me, and the taste is just like home. PERFECT! The homemade jam was delightful and full of tang. The staff was very engaging and professional. Lucile's is a treasure. I love Cajun/Creole cooking, but the implementations outside of Louisiana are not always the best. Lucile's is the real thing. I've never eaten anything here that was not authentic and delicious. The older Denver location, on Logan Street, can get very busy, so this second spot is a welcome addition. It offers two spacious indoor dining areas plus a nice patio. The "Cajun kitsch" decor sets an immediate good mood and nothing that follows disappoints. I usually can't get beyond the breakfast offerings on the menu, but this time my friend tried the Andouille Po'Boy. The sandwich was huge and superb with a tremendous depth of flavor. My friend, who usually has a hollow leg when it comes to tasty food, had to take half the sandwich home because it provided so much to eat. I was lucky enough to have a bite--really great, but how can you beat authentic sausage with peppers, onions, and cheese? Yum! I stuck with my favorite, Eggs Pontchartrain: cheese grits, mountain trout, two poached eggs, and bearnaise sauce. Breakfast bliss. Plus a giant cup of their amazing hot chocolate. After having to drive by this restaurant for nearly 5 years, I finally dined there today on a beautiful sunny Sunday in late October of 2021, and my experience was nothing but a compliment after compliment. I chose this place for my brunch date. Both he and I wanted some great place for us to meet over a nice brunch, my well sought-out internet search lead me to this place. When I mentioned this place to him, his response was, "Well played!" As soon as I stepped inside, I was shocked to find the round and spacious bar seating area to the left of it. Since the bar area is first come first serve, I grabbed two seats for us at the closest to the entrance. A couple who had already eating their food gregariously greeted me and carried on a friendly conversation with me while I was waiting for my date to show up. By simply looking at what they were eating, my mouth couldn't help watering. As it was my first time to dine there, my anticipation grew as high as Mt. Denali (or should I say My. Fuji as I am from Japan?!) The Logan location of Lucile's used to be my date's favorite place for brunch. After he had arrived, I had to ask him for a suggestion as to my very first meal. He suggested between Eggs Sardou and Pain Perdu. This time, I went with the first choice: Eggs Sardou. And I didn't regret my choice at all. The creamy spinach was rich and yet not too decadent. The grits were already seasoned with salt. Although it was a bit salty to my liking, t wasn't over the top. Let's not forget; I, for the first time, had chicory coffee. And to be frank, I couldn't differentiate between the regular coffee and chicory coffee; my chicory coffee tasted very much like the regular coffee unless the bartender made a mistake by pouring me the regular coffee! I hope not!! The highlight of today's brunch experience was the plate my date ordered: the chicken gumbo. He let me taste it, and it tasted so authentic. I'm nowhere near the expert level in this regard however; I hope those of you who are reading my review trust my judgment to try the plate. read more

I'd been to Lucile's before and enjoyed it so it was good to be back. The restaurant seemed to have the tables more spaced out but no one was wearing a mask. The food was good - I love beignets - and the chicory coffee was appropriately bitter. Our server, Kiara, was upbeat, friendly and efficient. Hadn't been here in years and prob won't be back to this location. The service was good. The food, ok. Eggs benny sauce was barely there. I could have asked for more, but it wasn't that tasty, so I didn't bother. The tomato slices were crisp and unripe so I picked those off. Our server offered me potatoes, grits or a combo of both, included with the benny. Yay! I chose both and was then offered plain or cheesy grits. I chose cheesy. We did a side of pancakes which were drenched in syrup, so we had no control over the super sweetness of it all. When the check came, I noticed a random 70 cent charge, I inquired and was told it "might be a surcharge for the cheese" sprinkled on my 2 tablespoons of grits. REALLY? Then say so! Just say this "For 70 cents you can have a quarter tsp of shredded cheese sprinkled on your grits" Also there was a 25 cent recycling charge. If Lucile's or any other establishment wants to recycle, that's part of doing business, that's on them, not me. What's next, 50 cents for dish washing soap, TP charge for the bathroom? This is ridiculous! And I know it's only 25 cents but this is the very definition of "nickel and diming to death". I'm surprised there wasn't a kitchen staff tip add on. This was a late morning where the temps were maybe in the upper 70's if that, and the restaurant was hot and stuffy. I'm beginning to wonder if Lucile's is struggling and unable to afford A/C, recycling and cheese in grits? And maybe they are. Denver is not exactly supportive of our restaurants. I've heard from many, that the Boulder Lucile's is the only good one and I'm beginning to see why. Do better! (as they say). read more

Our friend recommended this place and it is amazing. We came during the weekday closer to lunch time so there was no wait. Beignets- not as good as the fresh ones from Cafe Du Monde but it's pretty good for the cravings. The ones from Nola are a bit softer and puffier. 4/5 Gumbo + biscuit- biscuit comes with the gumbo. I got the cup. The biscuit reminded me of cornbread texture which is good and it came with homemade jams. The gumbo tasted really good except the rice is a little hard which I was not a fan of. 4/5 Benedicts- they offer HALF ORDER Benedicts here so you don't have to order the whole order. The half portion is quite big (as you can see) especially if you're getting beignets or gumbo or a side. If you have the appetite get half of different kind to try. It comes with potatoes, grits, or you can ask for both! They also have homemade ketchup which is a little interesting. The Eggs Jennifer has really fresh spinach and avocado. Eggs Benedict had a generous amount of ham. Both were delicious. 5/5 The service was great! I'm a big fan of Lucile's, particularly this location because the wait doesn't seem as long as the other locations. I don't mind when I have to wait because the food is worth it. Lucile's has such cute decor, great table set up, and bonus parking lot/plentiful street parking. When you walk into Lucile's you are hit with he smell of food, and it's sooooo good. There are different sized tables for all groups, and the art and table settings are really cozy. Let's get down to business with the food - you have to order and appetizer for the table, and I strongly suggest the beignets. They come out nice and warm and they are even better dipped in some of Lucile's homemade jelly. Next up the brunch entree. I looooove the Eggs Rockefeller! The oysters are fried perfectly and pair so well with the spinach and eggs. If you're not a fan of oysters, I'd definitely check out the shrimp and grits. I hadn't been to Lucile's since I went to the location in Boulder about 5 years ago. I was excited when I found out they had a new location near to Wash Park! I went in for brunch last weekend and we (2 of us) were able to get spots at the bar within 10 minutes, which was unexpected. Our waitresses were really nice and were initially very attentive. As things got busier it was difficult to get their attention but overall their service was great! I ordered the Eggs Jennifer and with cheesy potatoes and grits (check out the picture) - I highly recommend all of it. The breakfast was delicious and also made great leftovers. I also recommend switching the English muffin out for a buttermilk biscuit! So delicious. The food was great and it came quite quickly for a busy Sunday morning. Yummy brunch spot! My friends and I originally tried to go Maddie's Restaurant for brunch yesterday, but there was a one hour wait. Luckily, Lucile's was just two minutes away so we stopped by. It was pretty packed, but there was still seating available so we were immediately seated. Score! I ordered the Eggs Sardou and asked for Steamed Spinach instead of the Creamed Spinach and also opted in for cheese on my potatoes (note: they don't tell you how much it costs to get cheese on anything. It's an extra $1.40 to get them on your potatoes. I assumed it would cost more, but a more specific warning in the menu or by the server when she asked would've been appreciated). Anyways, the food came out fast and was delicious!!! That biscuit! Wowowow. Freshly baked with a perfectly flavored and crunchy top and soft, buttery inside, it's definitely worth all of its calories. The Eggs Sardou were tasty too. The eggs were perfectly poached (I like mine runny, but you can tell them if you want it less runny). The potatoes were good, but the cheese was too much. Especially since I had already devoured half of my biscuit before starting on the entree. We were all so stuffed within a few bites, but kept eating because it was delicious. O.M.G!!! What A breath of fresh air especially after a bad experience I had a previous restaurant that day. As soon as you walk in the maitre'd calls you friend with a friendly expression. The server greets you just as nicely and answers your questions without attitude or act like you're bugging her. My server today was Lucy and I had an issue with a dish and after she exhausted all avenues for a replacement but I was pressed for time I had to turn it down and she then comped my meal. I will say the collard greens are to die for and they use fresh squeezed oj which added to the mimosas even more tasty. I forgot to order beignets but I've had them before and they are divine! We came on a Tuesday morning and it was not too crowded for a party of 7 to be seated. We ordered the beignets which come with 4 servings. They were able to accommodate for most of our food allergies, and even had gluten free French toast! The atmosphere was a little hectic for a small restaurant but employees still served us well. Everyone enjoyed their food. There is very limited seating for multiple larger parties so be aware that employees may feel a little rushed to get large parties seated in a timely manner. Great food and service as well as obvious care taken during Covid for its customers. Arrived around 0900 on a Friday and found the place easy to find as it is a business on the corner of a residential neighborhood. Parking was a bit trickier. They do have their own private lot but it was packed during our arrival so we circled a few times before getting the space of someone leaving(lucky). Street parking is an option too. Walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. I started with an Cafe Au Lait and their large biscuit. Cafe Au Lait is huge and tastes like It should. I also loved the biscuit but did find it bland. Add the butter and house jam and your good to go though. To eat I had the Atlantic Salmon, eggs over easy, and a grits and potatoes mix. Not something I'd normally put together for myself but I found it surprisingly tasty. The hot yolk with the blackened salmon made for a great bite every time. Potatoes a little burnt but good and nothing negative to say about the grits. All and all a great birthday breakfast with wifey. Will return. Recommended! read more

I was very surprised at how greasy everything was. I am used to lighter beignets but these felt oily. The potatoes did not have flavor.
