Came here in a whim because we were out of eggs, missing our days at the Breakfast King and looking for a simple breakfast, decent coffee and pancakes. This place has been around forever and now we know why- it delivered on all of the above requirements! Love the orange booths to boot (throwback to the king). Food is decent but their service sucks! We sat over 20 minutes and never got water or acknowledged by the lady who sat us. There were 2 other servers handling tables around us, but we were ignored completely. When we left out of frustration, one server actually thanked us for coming in. Terrible service and not worth the time we took to go there. They've lost us and we will never recommend. Do better. If I could leave more negative reviews I would. oh no no no....we are on vacation and visited this place and quickly found only one server and a cook doing the best they could. We actually felt badly for the server and I almost jumped in to help her as customers were not yet served and more people coming in. I found the there was a women and 3 men not bothering or knowing how to help the waitress that was throwing defeated signs all over the restaurant. 2 men showed up with what appeared to be some kind of authority and we thought Finally our waitress was going to get some much needed help. Nope they only walked around the back of the counter and then sat down and watch the entire process fail with no intervention. We are staying in downtown Denver only minutes away and we will not ever try venturing in here ever again. Food was just ok, I order Faye special based on yelp pics looks good. Steak was not seasoned and eating my shoe would have been easier. eggs and potatoes were not very well seasoned at all. My wife orders Mexican Omelet that had a green chili sauce that was very good so much in so I added her green chili to my entire plate because it lacked flavor. Oh forgot !!!!! We've been here once before and today we're extremely disappointed. Both my partner, and I found hair in both our plates. None of the staff cooking were wearing hair nets, gloves, etc. One of them was wearing a hat backwards which makes sense why we had hair in our food. We had our plates taken away and they took a long time to bring us new plates. I asked for them to remake me eggs, bacon and hashbrowns (since I thought it would be quick and simple )when I had originally gotten the super breakfast which was $11.40 and they were trying to charge us $11.25 for the remake. They then took a $1 after we brought it up to their attention! The small basic plate was the same price as the super breakfast. Then not to mention the service was not great... very disorganized and I get it was busy but we were barely attended to. Especially after we had hair in our food you would think we would be given priority but that was not the case. Very sad experience... we really wanted to like this place :( read more

More disappointing, however, were the hash browns. Nothing better than some diner hash browns with your breakfast. These weren't hash browns, however. Just straight up potatoes. The standard breakfast fair was delicious. Eggs, thick bacon, quality flavorful sausage, and great fluffy pancakes. The hot chocolate was delicious. My husband got the breakfast burrito and he loved it. Someone else got the chicken fried steak and it was one of the best I've had. Perfect balance between meat breading and seasoning and cooked so well. The menu is extensive and can be overwhelming however we loved everything we had and the price is reasonable. Today my boyfriend took me here for breakfast after hearing a coworker say it had good food. Unfortunately right after being seated we noticed how horrible it smelled... the only way I can describe the smell is broken like a broken sewer line or rotting wet mop smell it was so disgusting. We stuck it out to at least see if food was worth it and it was not it was very basic and not worth sitting through that stank smell. The restaurant was not clean and bathrooms were disgusting. My boyfriend ordered big breakfast and I ordered smothered breakfast burrito. I suggest going to a chain like ihop or Denny's over this, at least they are clean and don't smell bad. Took a very long time for food to come. I understand this is just a basic diner but food quality was very low. Tiny hockey puck hamburger patty they call "homemade". We discovered this place during the pandemic and really tried to give it a shot. The prices were pretty good and the food wasn't bad. Through the heart of the pandemic we chalked the poor service up to lack of help. We stopped going about 3 months ago because of a TERRIBLE waitress believed to be named April. Just last weekend we decided to try it again to see if things have changed. Sadly, they are only worse. Our waitress was Tonya. We had to ask for sweetener for coffee twice, once when ordered, and again after it wasn't brought with the drinks. We placed our order quickly as we knew what we wanted. It took approximately 45 minutes to get our food!!! The first time Tonya returned to our table after placing the order was to drop off the food. Needless to say we had to request drink refills as opposed to good service, offering refills regularly. On top of a severely delayed breakfast, Tonya couldn't remember who ordered what. THERE WERE ONLY TWO OF US!!! Side orders were missing and had to be requested, but the delivery of the bill was certainly expeditious - it came with the missing side orders. That was the last time Tonya came to our table. Now before you assume that I am one of THOSE people who doesn't know how hard restaurant work is, let me assure you I do. I worked in several restaurants in different capacities in my past. I found that if you made the effort and were forthcoming with your customers, you could earn some grace. While we were eating our meal, a woman a few tables away asked about her order that was very tardy as well. The response from Tonya? "It's Sunday. It's how it is. You just have to accept it." She finished her coffee, put some coins on the table and left. I don't blame her one bit. Another table had their order delivered to the wrong table....TWICE. The disorganization on the front end leads me to worry about what's going on in the back end. Check out some of the other reviews for Swift's and you'll catch my drift. Trust me, skip this place.
