We have already been to Javier's Diner twice in our first week here visiting our son and daughter in law. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First of all what a cute place! Decorated so fun for Halloween and a great outside patio that allows dogs![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated right away and on both visits we had excellent servers. They hustled around tables and constantly checked on orders and drink refills. The absolute best part of our visit was the food! Big, hot portions were served quickly and everyone in our party was happy with what they ordered! I love their green chili sauce, it's not spicy but very flavorful! Coffee was surprisingly good too! I also hope they enjoy a long life for representing Hispanic cultures through food and not let Tennyson Street glide into a cultureless vacuum independent of any connections to the people from Mexico and Spain that have been in Colorado a very long time. Just came back to dine in. (Got a breakfast burrito to go before). This place is fast, great service, and the food amazing. Most dishes can also be done vegetarian style. I had the tamale breakfast with vegetarian tamales and green chili. I'm glad I split it because it was enough food for too. Potatoes and eggs were a perfect cook. Green chili warm, not too spicy for most, and the tamale excellent. And this was for breakfast! It's a real diner with diner menu and great options, with more Mexican breakfast than just the standard huevos rancheros. This is my new go to breakfast diner in Denver ! read more

We are 4 months new to Denver, we've explored a few restaurants in our area off of Tennyson in Berkley. We decided upon this place for breakfast and what a good choice that was! Upon approach, I was a bit hesitant as the menu pics in the window were a bit faded However......, the food was incredible! Everything was very tasty and flavorful, the chips and salsa was fantastic and our service was sooooo genuine, attentive and kind! The interior is authentic/ typical of what I would expect in Az- nothing fancy however, we are already planning a dinner here with incoming family next week. "What are we celebrating?" and "can I take your picture?" was just the beginning of a great dining experience here at Javier's. It was a beautiful Saturday morning so we opted for sitting outside where there was significant seating options. They have a video running showcasing their food, which influenced us to get the molcajete and I tell you, it did not disappoint. Filled to the brim with different meat options, cactus, jalapeño and green onion (I wish there could have been more of the cheese) and a tangy sauce made it so delectable. And my personal fave, it came with rice, beans, cheddar cheese, guac and sour cream. The service was so friendly and they really cared about your experience and that everything was up to par, including if the salsa was too spicy (grandmas sauce that is). The only thing to note is that their parking lot is a little tight for how busy it appears they get and the amount of seating inside so be patient or plan to walk from a side street. read more

It has been a good 15 years since I've visited Javier's and it was called Javier and C back then. It has since been sold. I was open to revisiting it as my friend has wanted to try this place so it was a go. From what I recollect, it was basic diner food and nothing knocked my socks off. The menu has changed significantly as it is primarily Mexican fare now. Mexican fare was offered before but I recall there being items like hamburgers available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The setup is essentially the same. They serve liquor now and there are lights that flash under the bar area. The music playing was an eclectic mix of decades with some dance music thrown in[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. It was kind of funny considering the clientele. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While we were there, a lot of the old neighborhood inhabitants popped in. They didn't really have any clientele that reflects what the neighborhood demographic has become. We actually liked that about this place. It is a relic from the past that has withstood the test of time, although I wonder how long they will be able to stay around as this is a prime piece of real estate with parking[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They serve the classic orange tinted green chile studded gravy served all around Colorado. My dining companion enjoyed his breakfast burrito very much. Uncharacteristically, I wasn't in the mood for Mexican so I opted for a simple BLT. It was certainly overpriced and kind of skimpy with two pieces of bacon but it was enough food for me. It essentially was a lettuce sandwich with a couple of slices of tomato. The fries were just frozen ones freshly fried back to life. Most of those were left abandoned on the plate. This was a very poor value and borderline insulting given the price. Service was a little slow and scattered but there wasn't a whole lot of expectation there. The food is fine but certainly I can easily do better at home, especially for the price. I could have gone to one of the new places on Tennyson and gotten a better sandwich within the same price range or maybe a little bit less expensive. And Tacos Jalisco is definitely better Mexican food just a little further east on 38th. read more

Never get all your order at once! Have been several times and they always bring the toast late or never! Wait staff appears very nervous and I will leave it at that! Crazy running around, mumbling ! She had pancakes too. The silverware was gone. She asked for syrup and another set of silverware. They forgot. My food was good. Atmosphere was great. Javier's diner by far has some of the best service we've ever experienced! From the moment we arrived employees greeted us and made us feel welcome. The food and drinks were amazing! I had the steak and eggs which were beautifully seasoned. Our server noticed my fiancé and I were wearing our "bride" and "groom" hats and asked us if we were celebrating. We let him know that we were getting married the following week and instantly he and other staff members went above and beyond to make us feel special and celebrated. First time stopping in on a warm early fall morning. I sat outside by the fountain that provides a nice distraction from the road traffic and adds to the nice vibes here. My server was quick to stop by with menus and to take my drink order and delivered warm crispy tortilla chips with a very nicely spiced salsa. I had to hold back yo leave room for my Juevos Rancheros but, I did add a bowl of green chile because I couldn't resist which was tasty and perfect heat and consistency. My Juevos arrived quickly after the chili and what a huge portion it was! This was one of the best versions of Juevos Rancheros I have had in a long time. The Green Chile was spicier than what was in my side order and just spot-on perfect amount. The beans and potatoes both were delicious and full of flavor. My friend had a side of pancakes that I had to sample and wowee- I did not expect them to be so good but, they were. A bit crispy on the edges, light but yet dense in their way- I couldn't stop snacking on these and they did not overly fill me up. The menu is full of standards and some unique options and for the vegetarians like me, there is plenty to choose from and prices are good for the quantity and quality of food and experience. They didn't even count the whole meal. What they did was comp and remake the chicken and waffles. We had to wait another 20 minutes for that to be done after the rest of us had already eaten. Over the last year or so, this place has become one of my favorite locations for having breakfast. I always get good service, and I really like the choices on the menu. I have had several things that I enjoy, but the one dish that I keep coming back to is the Enchiladas Michoacanas. This is a three cheese enchiladas with carnitas, served with beans and potatoes, and topped with roasted jalapeño, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese & sour cream. This has so much going on with flavor and heat, is an extremely hearty serving. On one occasion, when my system just was not up to spicy food, I went with a more traditional gringo breakfast of chicken fried steak, with two over easy eggs and toast.
