This is not a gourmet spot, but it sure hits the spot. After power shopping at Sam's and Costco all in one day, my boyfriend and I decided to deviate from the dinner plan and go out to eat. I wanted a burger he wanted to sit down meal and we ended up at the Moonlight Diner. Walking into the diner is like a step back in time. The decor is 1950s memorabilia with chrome touches and leather wrapped seating. It's everything you would think a diner would be but the food is so much more. They have a full bar as well as dairy treats, including shakes and malts. They also have breakfast all day and love their pancakes. They also serve barbecue. But I went for the patty melt. And my other half went for breakfast. His breakfast was the mountain man breakfast and was full of meats, eggs hashbrowns, and Ken with pancakes, but he opted for English buffet instead. It also came with a side of toast. It was a very ample breakfast. My patty melt sure did hit the spot. It was a perfectly medium cooked hamburger on rye with cheddar, and Swiss melted with grilled onions and thousand island dressing. Instead of fries, I went for the mashed potatoes and gravy. It was comfort food to the max. My date also got the peanut butter shake. He slurped that down in a hot minute. He said it was wonderful. He offered me a taste at least twice before I noticed it was gone. There's also meatloaf on the menu as well as a pulled pork barbecue Frito pie and they have a Frito pie burger. Stopped by and we were seated right away and place was clean and the diner was pretty simple than the other ones ive been too so far :). Decaf coffee was good, I could drink it multiple times, will definetely order next time. My family loved eating at Moonlight! Huge portions so be aware of this when ordering. It was right near our hotel and my kiddo was really into the way the building looked so we had to stop in. Diner's in new place are a must! Came across this place on a Monday morning with a group of 5 and a toddler. Waited no longer than 10 minutes to get seated. Menu was straight forward and our group did have some questions and the service was helpful in answering questions along with suggestions on what to order. Nice meal after an event at the Gaylord Hotel. It wasn't as busy yet which was nice. But there was a large party in our section so our server was busy. I decided on the lemon pepper salmon. Wanted a peppermint hot chocolate but it turned out that it was alcoholic so I decided on water. The salmon was fine. The veggies were bland. Roll nice. Rice meh. My mom and I have started a tradition of coming here after I fly in to Denver to visit. We always have a really nice experience! Food is terrific, service is great and the atmosphere is welcoming. They have counter seating, as well as booths and tables. You feel transported to the 50's as soon as you walk in through the door. It's such a unique experience these days. Previously, we had ordered their Signature Moonlight Reuben with onion rings and The Kitchen Sink (Pancakes topped with bacon, sausage, sausage white gravy, eggs, biscuit, smothered in pork green chile, served with country potatoes.) I know it sounds crazy, but it was the perfect breakfast- the best of everything! I actually enjoyed their pork green chile too (it has been so hard for me to find one with flavor!) Our most recent visit...we went on a Friday around 3 PM and were able to sit down right away at the counter. Service was quick too since it wasn't very busy. Now, on to the food...We ordered the Patty Melt with sweet potato fries and Not Yo Mama's Mac n Cheese which has green chilies and is topped with pulled pork. Both were so delicious and flavorful. Really cute diner. Lots of parking (they need it - the place was full). We were greeted quickly both by the hostess and by our server. That's pretty much the extent of the service - service was absolutely awful. My husband found a carafe of coffee and refilled everyone's coffee himself. I'm currently digging for a bottle of water in my backpack - unfortunately we didn't find a water pitcher to serve ourselves. We had the brisket and corn cakes. I know it isn't a BBQ but they smoke their own meat - but I still should know better. The brisket had a nice crust but was chewy and extremely fatty. I wouldn't have even served the piece that I had - it was almost all fat. The corn cakes were alright, the eggs and hash browns were neither here nor there. Our friends shared the big breakfast burrito. It was huge. They said it was alright but they wouldn't order it again. We sat outside on the covered patio. What a fun throwback to the days of the Diner. Food was great, service was great (even considering a busy Sunday morning). Cocktails are available, coffee, tea and soda also.
