Yadira was a terrible server. She never refilled our drinks, she didn't clear dirty dishes, she didn't check on our table, and when we asked for boxes, she was incredibly rude and snappy. When asked to split the bill, she gave a long speech about how it would take her time to split everything. Customer service was 0/5 stars. Food was fine. It was definitely sitting out for a period of time before we got the food. Cheese on our plates were not fully melted, meat was cold. Our milkshakes were very good and we liked the portion sizes (huge- had to take home). Where do I begin??? I'll start by saying that I've been successful using Yelp to find restaurants for many years and I have never left a review -- either good or bad. We're in Colorado visiting our daughter, who lives a few miles from the diner. We've been coming here to visit for the past few years ever since she moved to Commerce City. So this was not our first time going to the diner. OMG! What happened to this place??? We had good experiences the past couple of years. This time, so many things happened that I feel compelled to let others know not to waste their hard earned money. There were 6 of us. The problems started the moment we were seated. That was bad enough but when our food arrived the real problems started... 1) one of my daughters ordered the pulled pork. It arrived with a long black hair prominently showing on it. It grossed her out so badly she returned her food and didn't want to eat anything else. 2) my other daughter ordered BBQ ribs & brisket. The brisket was very fatty and the ribs were burnt and dry. 3) my wife ordered a turkey reuben. The turkey was also dry. 4) I ordered plain scrambled eggs with home fries. I chose pancakes instead of toast. The pancakes tasted like cardboard and the syrup wasn't even good. The eggs arrived as an omelet. I said that I asked for scrambled eggs and the waiter said that's how they make them. I like ketchup on my eggs. Even the ketchup was some 'off brand' - not Heinz. I asked to speak to the manager. He listened politely and said the owner knew about the situation with the ice and flies but there was nothing the manager could do. They removed the cost of my daughter's pulled pork sandwich from the bill and also gave us an additional 'military discount'. But honestly, I wouldn't go back to the Moonlight Diner ever again even if they gave us our food for free!!! My next call is to the department of health. I was out in Denver for work a couple of weeks ago and was staying at a hotel near this place; so I decided to check it out for an early dinner. The place is located right on Tower Road and there is a nicely sized parking lot on the premises. I kept it simple with a cup of green verde chili and a chicken Cobb salad. Both dishes were good and the salad was big enough to box up and take what was left. The service was quick and polite. This review is for breakfast only. We stopped here after picking up fanily from the airport one weekend morning and everyone was starving. Stopped by and we were seated right away and place was clean and the diner was pretty simple than the other ones ive been too so far :). Decaf coffee was good, I could drink it multiple times, will definetely order next time. They have a full bar as well as dairy treats, including shakes and malts. They also have breakfast all day and love their pancakes. They also serve barbecue. But I went for the patty melt. And my other half went for breakfast. His breakfast was the mountain man breakfast and was full of meats, eggs hashbrowns, and Ken with pancakes, but he opted for English buffet instead. It also came with a side of toast. It was a very ample breakfast. My patty melt sure did hit the spot. It was a perfectly medium cooked hamburger on rye with cheddar, and Swiss melted with grilled onions and thousand island dressing. Instead of fries, I went for the mashed potatoes and gravy. It was comfort food to the max. My date also got the peanut butter shake. He slurped that down in a hot minute. He said it was wonderful. He offered me a taste at least twice before I noticed it was gone. There's also meatloaf on the menu as well as a pulled pork barbecue Frito pie and they have a Frito pie burger. Great good, huge portions...! I unexpectedly stayed the night in Denver while traveling home from Tampa and found this place close to the Courtyard Marriott I stayed at. The place was busy and there was a wait for larger parties, but being by myself, I was able to be seated right away at the counter. The service was friendly and nice and Janessa took good care of me. The pancakes are an easy go to but definitely give the breakfast burrito a try. It is of great portion. It seems like the Diner is a popular spot as it is always busy when we visit. In town for work for a week. My wife and I chose this place. I have a little pet peeve and that is I want my drink quickly and often. I mean like as you seat us if you ask what we would like to drink is a huge plus for me. That didn't happen here as a matter of fact we sat for twenty minutes and no one paid us any attention. Finally got to order drinks and it took another ten minutes to arrive. No bueno. So I ordered the bbq platter because the restaurant has a smell of a smoker. The food was not very good. My mom and I have started a tradition of coming here after I fly in to Denver to visit. We always have a really nice experience! Food is terrific, service is great and the atmosphere is welcoming. They have counter seating, as well as booths and tables. You feel transported to the 50's as soon as you walk in through the door. It's such a unique experience these days. Previously, we had ordered their Signature Moonlight Reuben with onion rings and The Kitchen Sink (Pancakes topped with bacon, sausage, sausage white gravy, eggs, biscuit, smothered in pork green chile, served with country potatoes.) I know it sounds crazy, but it was the perfect breakfast- the best of everything! I actually enjoyed their pork green chile too (it has been so hard for me to find one with flavor!) Our most recent visit...we went on a Friday around 3 PM and were able to sit down right away at the counter. Service was quick too since it wasn't very busy. Now, on to the food...We ordered the Patty Melt with sweet potato fries and Not Yo Mama's Mac n Cheese which has green chilies and is topped with pulled pork. Both were so delicious and flavorful. Some of the best pulled pork I have had! Their portions are always generous so we had to take some leftovers to go. Next time, I'd love to try one their milkshakes. The food was good, nothing too special, just average diner food, as to be expected. Service was not the fastest in the world, but it wasn't unbearably slow, especially for a Saturday morning.
