We were on the opposite side of town looking to have some breakfast. I remembered that breakfast palace was right around the corner from where we were at so we decided to stop and get some breakfast/lunch. We were greeted and seated immediately! We had water brought to our table. We had our tea and our juice. Our breakfast came shortly after or green. I ordered a French dip know normally when I go out to places in order French dip they always ask if you would like cheese and mushrooms for your French dip well, this time I didn't get asked that and normally I would say no to the cheese as I am lactose intolerant so of course I sent the sandwich back and asked if they could just send it without the mushrooms and cheese, and I would just take it home with me. Well they hooked me up with another sandwich now I felt or I feel that they put mushrooms in the meat in order to make it more hearty, so needless to say, there was more mushrooms than meat on my sandwich. Looking for a solid diner with typical diner fare without any frills? This would be your place. We had the breakfast skillet (basic with bacon and a basic with ham), which came with toast and hash browns, with a side of gravy. The skillets were good sized portions (enough for a box for me), came out in about 10 minutes, were hot, and were perfectly satisfactory. Nothing fancy or spectacular, but we weren't disappointed. The gravy was super bland and from a can, I'm sure. But again, it was satisfactory. I do wish they'd let you butter your own toast, vs a splat of butter in the middle that doesn't go to the edges (ok, I'm being a little nit picky there). The ambiance was that of a typical diner: not exactly super clean (ceilings and walls were overdue for a good scrub; tables/utensils/important stuff were clean), very busy staff, tons of what appear to be locals, pay at the counter. No frills, but good enough. Prices were a wee bit more than I'm used to (I'm from St. Louis, and Denver is just more expensive, period), but not exorbitant. Service was very good. They were super busy, but we never waited for anything. Everyone was friendly. So, if you're not looking for anything fancy, just a good, solid breakfast, check this place out. very disappointed! after watching a review about the breakfast palace i had been wanting to check it out, we checked when it's busy to get there before the rush and felt lucky to have made it! but upon entering we were ignored by our server who went out of her way to quickly help her regulars she knew by name which i'm sure is nice for them. but meanwhile none of our food served was hot, hardly warm even is a better description. she was friendly and filled my water as we paid atleast. safe to say we won't be back for soggy fries, cold grilled cheese, lukewarm burrito, and burnt but still not even warm cinnamon roll! read more

This place won the cheapest good eats award! It is very diner menu and it has a couple healthy options! The ladies that work here are super sweet and hospitable! This hit the spot! I was really craving chicken fried steak, so my partner came across Breakfast Palace in their search. The restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall that's unassuming, down-to-earth, and not the sort of exterior that makes you think their food would be very good. But the food is delicious for what it is: hearty breakfast/diner food for a great value! My chicken fried steak was absolutely smothered with country gravy, which is my personal preference, but people who don't appreciate their meat drowning in gravy should probably note that. My partner's French toast and breakfast plate was fairly standard breakfast food but satisfying. They have specials running Monday-Fri, the food is on the affordable end, and service was friendly and attentive. There is a lot of space for bigger groups and families, and the tables are well spread out. I'll likely come back here whenever I'm craving some good chicken fried steak. My sister and I have been here for breakfast on a few occasions and have enjoyed the service and the food, however, our last visit was just a few days ago. We had been out running errands and decided to drop in and for coffee and pie. They don't have pie but they do have cinnamon buns which are huge but quite tasty and expensive. We finished with our order asked for our check and noticed a big error on our bill. Not a few pennies or a couple of dollars but rather ten dollars. When the owner was made aware of the error she was very defensive and unapologetic. Needless to say we will not be returning there for what we had become to enjoy a good breakfast as well the close distance from our home. Any time an owner treats their guests poorly means to that they are not worthy of my business. I am a senior on a certain budget and ten bucks is too much to be swindled out of by her waitress who can't add. read more

The good: my eggs were a perfect "over medium" and my hashbrowns were well done as requested. The sadly bad: my hamburger 'steak' came with two long curly beard hairs sticking out of the patty. Our waitress dutifully returned my plate to the kitchen but without comment or apology and brought it back with cooled eggs and taters and a wonderfully hairless beef patty. The food: The hamburger was tasteless except for the grease. Definitely a lower grade beef since our last visit. Overall, a very disappointing visit. In addition, my wife's grilled cheese sandwich consisted of a single slice of processed Swiss cheese and a few amazingly bland slices of what was presented as tomato but what was truly an insult to that fruit. Very rarely does a Chef get it right. Not here: The Chef NAILED IT! The yolks were slightly firm, and the whites were perfectly white. The other combination of flavors makes the dish taste healthy and fresh. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Side: Corned Beef Hash ($3.99). Generous portion that is moist on the inside and a slight crisp on the outside. Very few potatoes in the hash, so it's mostly meat. Again, that's rare. They were not the best I've ever had (that honor goes to a restaurant inside a Baltimore Holiday Inn), but these were VERY GOOD! Service: Excellent. They checked on me often, and were very courteous. Well done! Ambiance: The Breakfast Palace is a Diner, so you're not going to see candles or cloth tablecloths. You go to Diners to get decent food and a good price. Always a delight. I seem to arrive when it is not very busy. Then the masses flock. The food is reasonably priced. It's standard diner food with massive selection to choose from. I usually go at breakfast. It used to be voted "Denver's Cheapest Breakfast" but I unsure if the moniker still stands. The biscuits and gravy are nothing stellar, but they fill the belly. Add a side of bacon and a cup of coffee and one it set for breakfasts. The green chili is weak. I suppose a mild attempt fits into the niche of certain patrons. But the food is good standard. The wait staff is experienced and have been there many years. The owner is always on site and helpful. The atmosphere is cozy and old school. I support local businesses. Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200 Eating here had to be one of the worst dining experiences I've had in recent memory. Just about everything was bad!! OK, let me at least point out the good stuff before I tear this place a new one. The menu is huge, the prices are low, and they serve both breakfast and lunch at any hour. Now that I have thoroughly covered the good angles, I am prepared to give you the skinny on this joint. The portions (food & drinks) are extremely small. Don't expect to get full with one entree, but please don't punish yourself by ordering two. I made this mistake and suffered for it. I ordered an omelet without cheese. The omelet was tragically small and loaded with cheese - inside and out. I told my server that I had asked for no cheese to which she responded, "All of our omelets come with cheese." I hate being that person that sends stuff back, so I ordered a chicken club sandwich on top of that. Again, the portions were small. The quality of the food was very poor, too. Double whammy! I can get past small portions and mediocre food, but I can't handle lousy service. My waitress was truly awful. I had ordered a hot tea when I first got there. I finished it quickly and put both my cup and the water pitcher to the side, expecting a refill. That never happened! As I was about to pay my tab, I finally just asked her for more tea. She quipped back, "Each tea bag costs a dollar and thirty-five cents." Are you kidding me? I've never seen a place do that! Still, she could have told me that early on as a preface to a refill offer. I recently visited a friend in Denver and stayed the night nearby. As soon as we drove by this place we knew we had to try it. This place seemed to be filled with regulars, which is always a good sign. I ordered one of the breakfast skillets that has egg, chorizo, and hashbrowns. It's all thrown into a mini-skillet and served with tortillas. As I normally do, I requested the hashbrowns extra crispy, which was one of my favorite parts of the meal.
