Penn Street Kitchen provided a lovely backdrop for our group brunch while we were visiting friends in Denver. The aesthetic is absolutely perfect because it feels both classy and comfortable at the same time. Our table was ready to go well ahead of our arrival which made the start of our meal very smooth. The food was a major highlight of the experience. The Brie and Bacon toast was delicious and you really cannot beat their bottomless mimosas for a celebratory morning. We did run into a bit of a strange interaction regarding an iced tea order. One friend asked for iced tea and was told twice that they did not serve it, so she settled for a zero proof mixed drink. However, when the rest of our party arrived and someone else ordered an iced tea, the server took the order immediately. When we asked for clarification, he mentioned he was simply confused by the initial question. It was a bit of an awkward start, but my friend eventually got her tea. I guess our takeaway is to be more specific about what we mean by iced tea. Later in the meal, our server cashed us out because his shift was ending. We were still eating and finishing our drinks, and unfortunately, we were not introduced to a new server to take over. This meant we had to walk back and forth to the bar ourselves for refills or any additional orders. Aside from those specific moments, the server was actually very efficient and kind, and the rest of the staff was wonderful and accommodating. Penn Street Kitchen is in an office building across from the Swedish Medical Center and serves contemporary American food. We had large group of 10 people, which they accommodated easily without any crowding of our party or other tables. The front desk was very efficient with getting us seated, including directing others to our table they arrived. The initial table service was quick and efficient, however after the orders were taken, the service lagged considerably. Follow-up visits by our server were lacking and numerous times had to literally flag down our server for any drink refills, to-go boxes and our checks. As far as food is concerned, all the lunch meals looked fresh and delicious as they were being served. However, the Fish and Chips I ordered turned out to disappointing, due to the fish seem to have been steamed at some point and had a mushy texture rather than the firmness of a nice filet of fish. The chips served were very good, with nice crisp outside, which also was the case for the light tempura-like batter on the outside of the fish. I must admit the Reuben sandwich that another ordered looked amazing. Overall, the location of Penn Street is convenient and with the accessibility of the parking garage (Penn Street validates the 1st 2-hours of parking), is a very nice place to meet for lunch. Even with the service and my lunch meal, I would return, as all restaurants have off days of service or food, and many of the other dishes ordered looked great. Tips for your visit: If you have a large party, they use Open Table for reservations and accommodate us with separate checks. If you like people watching, ask for table by the window. read more

We dropped in on a day that I happened to be very hungry. Their happy hour is THE place to go if you are hungry or hungry AND thirsty. The Happy Hour $5 menu has wonderful choices, from a heaping bowl of fried pickle chips with deeeelicious dipping sauce, 2 amazingly crispy tacos with 2 sauces, one of which was smoky and absolutely delicious!! I also got a Caesar salad. Yes, I was THAT hungry! We ordered a jam burger and short rib stroganoff. The burger was cooked perfectly to order and was dee-licious! I substituted sweet potato fries and they were "homemade style small wedges" and cooked perfectly. My only complaint is that the sweet potato wedges were a substituted upgraded item and I only had about five fries, but I had to pay the upgrade charge. The short rib stroganoff was so fantastic that my mouth is watering at the memory of it. The short ribs were cooked to perfection. The noodles were also cooked to perfection with creamy delicious mushroom stroganoff sauce. Oh my goodness! I want to go back now. Lol! Service was amazing. Gary was very knowledgeable about the menu and was such a warm kind person. We almost felt like we were dining with family! Michael was very attentive and helpful and ensured our food was properly and quickly served. This unassuming little gem immediately became one of our favorite restaurants. We can't recommend it enough. The restaurant didn't look like much from the outside. But once inside, it is a cozy, warm, upscale restaurant. They also have a large back room with a large TV. Little under the radar brunch spot right across from swedish medical center. The design was cute and mid century mod and I loved the vibe inside. Server was incredibly nice. I got a bloody mary, which was the right amount of spice and absolutely delicious. Food wise we got the blueberry pancakes w/ bacon, the chicken & waffles, bacon brie toast w/ an egg, and the denver omelette. everyone loved their food I think except for me with the denver. the ham was thin sliced kind of like deli meat and the bell peppers/onions were huge, the ratio of egg to fillings was 70% egg and 30% filling it felt like. I also think it's strange the omelette doesn't come with toast so had to order a side of it for $4 which I don't love. read more

We went here on New Year's Eve and had a bad experience. It was slow so there was no excuse for poor service. Waited ten minutes to place a drink order and then another 15 to get the drinks. Order a second drink halfway through the meal and we had to remind the server, another ten minute wait for drinks. The enchiladas were dry, not good at all. I had the chefs special, some collard greens and bacon dish, my mistake but I didn't pee for two days it was so salty. We've scratch this place off of our list of restaurants. This place was incredible! They had a full bar service with very yummy drinks and our server was amazing. We started with the salmon croquettes which is a must. These had a lot going on in the best way possible. Then we had the short rib stroganoff-I don't typically love stroganoff and I was obsessed with this dish. The meat was very tender and juicy and the sauce for the stroganoff was a 11/10. We randomly got a chili dog special of theirs which was also awesome. The Greek salad was probably my least fav of them all but it was still good. There is a ton of construction outside this building at the moment but don't let it scare you away. A friend and I had lunch here today. A neighbor of mine had eaten here and recommended Penn to us. As we were entering, two older ladies were exiting and we asked them: "How was the food?" They said it was great. I ordered the prime dip sandwich. The hoagie roll was fabulous, my favorite. The au jus was also good. The meat itself was kind of curled up and a little bit chewy. Lemonade is Minute Maid from the soda machine, always a disappointment to me. My friend had a breakfast order of mountain man Benny, still available at 1245PM. He was totally pleased with it. Service was good, but I felt a certain amount of apathy among the staff. Ambiance was kind of a corporate feel. The place is brand new and very clean. The fried pickles are excellent. So is everything else, but fried pickles deserve special mention. The service is friendly and attentive all day long. I've had late breakfast and supper here, and both are lovely, but the happy hour menu is something special -- great cocktails, filling and tasty food, excellent prices. Looking at the extensive menu, my eyes landed on the Jam burger, which made me think of the Great Divide. And yes, they are part of that chain and that is such a good thing! The food was amazing! I got the Prime Rib Dip with sweet potato wedges and this was one of the best Prime Rib Dip sandwiches I have ever had! The horseradish sauce that it came with was so heavenly. My husband got one of their specials the Florentine Piccata Pasta with Chicken and that was good as well. We ordered drinks that were both a good balance of tasty and boozy. Impeccable service, fabulous food and beverages. Heartily recommend. We came for an early dinner and arrived during happy hour (M-F, 2-5 pm). Everything on the HH menu is $5, including craft cocktails. And everything is made onsite from scratch. We started with the chips, guac and salsa. The dish was plentiful and scrumptious, Chips awesome, guac and salsa tasty (and just the right spice level for me with the salsa. Tangy but not overly hot.) For dinner my partner and I split the chile rellenos entree and the salmon croquette appetizer. Both were exceptional. I took the photo of the chile rellenos AFTER I split the dish, so the photo doesn't do it justice. Both were beautifully presented (as were the chips, guac and salsa appetizer). The rellenos were honestly the best I've had. The best part was the cheese on top was maybe broiled (?) as it was a little crisped, too. The salmon croquettes (3) were beautifully seasoned, and together they were a perfect share. The restaurant opened in May 2025 and construction work on old Hampden (near Swedish Hospital) started almost immediately. It's now been almost 6 months that the construction work has dragged on. BUT: the parking garage on Penn, just south of the corner on which the restaurant sits is open and we were told the restaurant will validate for 2 hours of parking. read more

Just tried this brand new spot. It is beautiful spot with a ton of natural light and a very sophisticated atmosphere, but not pretentious. The food is really amazing and fresh and the menu has a very good selection. We were warmly welcomed and the staff was very attentive. We came in the dinner, and we will definitely be back. Met a friend for lunch and the food and service were great. My only complaint was they did inform us that the "free" garage parking needed to be Validated. Today was a five-star experience for lunch. Our server was Shannon and she was very attentive. I had fish & chips and my husband had the prime dip. Both dishes were excellent. The food was excellent, I would really love to give this place 5 stars but the service was not good at all. There were maybe 6 tables on a Sunday afternoon, not at all busy. After more than 5 minutes of sitting there, no one had stopped by so we asked the guy that delivered the food to the table next to us if he could send someone over. Meanwhile, the manager is sipping her coffee chatting away with a server and completely ignored us when we looked in her direction. When we finally got some water, it was pretty warm and there was little fuzz particles from a dishrag in all the cups. The appetizer we ordered came out with our entrees instead of before. After we ate, we sat for more than 5 minutes before we finally waved our server down to bring the check. I left full of delicious food but highly annoyed. read more

The decor is classy modern and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The service was timely and Veronica was an attentive knowledgeable server. I've eaten both breakfast and dinner. For breakfast I had the baked sweet potato with apples, nuts and a caramel sauce that shocked me at how delusions it really was. For dinner I had the short rib enchiladas with a creamy jalapeno sauce. I'm from real close to the Texas and Mexico Border right on the Gulf of Mexico and I LOVED those enchiladas. This place really needs help. I've been hoping for their success as we live close, but we've never seen such inconsistency. Having owned a restaurant, we now that's a killer for a restaurant. Sometimes the food is good but too salty but the service is usually poor. We ALWAYS have to ask for water, coffee and drinks refills. Some friends just tried to go for breakfast (8:10 am) and said they aren't open even though hours are advertised as opening at seven and other ads say open at 8 daily. There are two things that are deal breakers for me when it comes to pricey dining...service must be on point and the coffee should be good. I don't know if the coffee was old or what; since it was a local roaster I would've expected better but it was quite bitter and I didn't enjoy it. The waiter neglected to fill an empty ice tea glass until summoned from across the room and that's my other pet peeve. It took forEVER for him to return and the place was near-empty during the lunch hour on a Monday so that was a red flag in itself. The food was bland and unmemorable. The most boring turkey sandwich I've ever paid $17 for. Won't likely return. read more
