I had a great breakfast at the Breakfast Queen. We were looking for an early breakfast that was open at 6am. We came in on a Friday early morning at around 6:30am. They offer plenty of parking on the back. We were greeted as soon as we came in and able to choose where to sit. The restaurant is taken care of and the servers were friendly and checked in our table. They offer most popular breakfast items: pancakes, french toast, waffles, omelettes, skillets, Benedict's, South of the border inspired items and lunch food. My first time here and I loved it - That classic, busy breakfast dinner. We went Friday morning and had a 10 min wait for 2. We sat at the dinner and were able to place our order quickly. When the downtown diner is full, you know it's probably a good place. Breakfast Queen was quite full -- we had about a 15-20 minute wait -- but it was more than worth it. FOOD: Decent coffee. Menu had a bit of every classic breakfast dish -- eggs and meat, omelets, skillets, burritos, benedicts, tater tot bowls, battered brekkies -- as well as an array of burgers, sandwiches, salads. I had a Spanish skillet which was well-made, though the jalapenos made it a little one-note. My wife had the corn beef hash, which looks to have been made in layers on the plate and was very, very good. SERVICE: Despite the full house, service was snappy and pleasant. We felt neither pushed nor neglected. AMBIANCE: Serious diner vibes -- and not ironically chosen retro, but "yeah, this is a diner and would have looked this way if you'd visited in 1954." Noisy (but not deafening), bustling (but not overcrowded). The customers were of all ages, from families with small kids to seniors to teen-twenties in hoodies and tattoos. That's another sign of a good place. TIP: Huge free public parking lot behind its Broadway-facing location. Makes the downtown Englewood place a lot more accessible. NET-NET: I loved it. I don't spend too much time in the Denver area so I took a lot of care in selecting this place this morning. It was highly rated so I had high expectations. Breakfast Queen is about what you would expect from a diner. It's noisy and employees scurrying around quickly getting people their food. It took a lot longer than I expected to have someone bring me coffee, which was a disappointing start. It might've been a fluke because the table next to me got served pretty quickly. By the way, the coffee was just okay. I decided to try the Mountain Man Skillet, since my server said this is the most popular dish. It was good, but not great. I'm no Mountian Man, but I imagine they would expect more meat! However, the over easy eggs were cooked perfectly, which seems to be difficult for restaurants these days. This is my second time here and both times have been fantastic. Ambiance it is more of a diner so hussel and bussel inside. Service expect a wait both time we went thankfully we were not in a rush but it took then some time to take order and serve so just keep that in mind. Stopped here on Sunday after a sweat sesh at yoga box nearby and were lucky enough to get 2 spots at the Bar, the rest of the tables were all full and had a waitlist! (At 1pm) The bar staff was so nice and attentive, she recommended trying their green chili topping so i went with the classic supreme breakfast with my eggs over easy. Delicious. Probably would recommend getting the eggs a different way next time bc the runny yolk combined w the green chile made it super liquidy, but the flavors were on point! I am writing this review to document an issue regarding service animal access. I have been bringing my 5-lb service animal, who remains quietly inside her carrier, to Breakfast Queen multiple times per week without prior incident. During my most recent visit, a server informed me that I was no longer allowed to bring her into the restaurant. I explained that she is a service animal, and I was told that it "didn't matter" because the restaurant is cracking down on animals. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are permitted in restaurants and other public accommodations. Businesses may only ask two specific questions to determine whether an animal qualifies as a service animal, and access cannot be denied solely due to a general no-pets policy. The owner was present during this interaction and did not provide clarification, and staff responses were inconsistent, as another server previously indicated that my service animal was allowed. This experience was disappointing and concerning. I encourage the restaurant to review ADA guidelines to ensure compliance and to prevent similar situations for others who rely on service animals. read more

We were sat quickly at the bar, it was usually about a 15-30 min wait on a busy day from what I saw. I got the chicken fried steak skillet. I didn't like that it was cut up already, there's wasn't much under the eggs, more hash brown than fried steak. Somewhat too salty for my taste and still, we had a great experience. We finally found our new breakfast spot. Took a few years but now the fretting is over ha. We have been here several times now and everything...service, ambience (diner/classic coffee shop feel) and food has been ON POINT. The staff is amazing. Coffee refills a plenty. The mix of customers gives a real local and urban but no suburban feel. The Supreme is not to be missed because ya get a little of everything...eggs, potatoes, meat and french toast or pancakes. The pancakes here taste homemade...cakey yet light and fluffy....not heavy or weighed down. Fresh butter and real syrup make these cakes a 10/10. The skillets are another dimension with just the right balance of browns n eggs and however else one orders it. The green chile is amazing. I get it on the side because it is so good it feels like an added treat. Rich and hot, spicy and roasty delicious. All food is served HOT and FRESH and quick by folks who really care about what they do and this shows. And, the restaurant is spotless. Looks clean and smells clean. Even the windows and sills. The day we were there, window washing was going on. No dust or dirty booths. That attention to detail is appreciated by many. If I had anything to "complain" about it would be the odd taste of the water served. Supposedly it's filtered but it tasted like "earth" each time we've been there. This doesn't help the otherwise good cups of coffee. Our servers say it's a "known issue" and blamed it on "Englewood water". Maybe needs investigating...That alone isn't a dealbreaker for us. BQ is a WIN! Just awesome. We're back as often as we can! read more

We loved this place as soon as we tasted their biscuits and gravy. They made us feel like we were breakfasting in The South. But they don't just do southern food. Their menu includes every other breakfast goodie you can imagine and all their food tastes delicious! The coffee is horribly bitter, the pancakes are mushy, the syrup is so fake it hurts your mouth and gives a horrible aftertaste. The worst is the overly salty and seasoned hash browns. My bacon was cold too. Yes, they have been around for a long time and their reviews are good, but I've lived in southeast Denver my entire life and now I know why I've only been here once. With the cold temps and falling snow, all I wanted was a warm and hearty breakfast to kick off the new year. With my husband and parents in tow, we made our way to this famed establishment to see what the Queen was serving up. Let's just say we were not disappointed! STAR #1: Tucked into the small strip of South Broadway, this spot is easy to miss when not looking for it - making it more of a hidden local gem. A large parking lot sits in the rear with ample parking and brightly painted mural on the outside is first to greet visitors featuring the Queen herself! The interior, although small, yet the wall of mirrors makes the space feel larger. It is laid out perfectly - open kitchen, bar top, booth lined wall with tables scattered throughout. The only awakward(ish) part is the front door entrance - as it's right in the middle of the dining room, while the host stand is in the rear. So rather than walking through the entire space, enter in the back near the patio! STAR #2: Staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable on the menu. Being our first visit, we were overwhelmed by the massive menu, as everything looked delicious! Our server was smart in bringing us 2 carafes of water, refilled our coffees endlessly, gave us killer recs from the menu and had our meals delivered quick AF! STAR #3: HOLY MOLY - talk about delicious! We opted for rounds of piping hot coffee before attempting to decide what to order. The menu is massive and features everything your heart could desire. Our server informed us of the specials, popular dishes and the fact they are known for their green chili. I opted for the Chili Rellenos featuring deep fried stuffed rellenos, a side of hashbrowns and beans with drippy over easy eggs! The portion was huge and the mixture of the gooey cheese, savory green chili and crunch of the rellenos - made for one outstanding meal! Mom opted for the breakfast burrito, while my dad chose the Mountain Man Skillet (essentially my meal but in skillet form!) and husband opted for the traditional breakfast with a side of house maple pancakes! Everyone was pleased with their meal and left with boxes for leftovers! STAR #4: Prices are on point for both the quality and quantity of food! Each meal ranged in price from $13-$15, with our overall bill just $65 for 4 with bottomless coffee. WIN!
