I like to go here for football games and mimosas. The staff is always pretty chill and they will turn on TVs to any game you want based on where you are sitting. The food is always solid too. Haven't been to Spanky's in a while and the bar food was on point! There was a bit of a snafu with bottomless mimosas as they ran out of bubbles, but remedied the situation by opening up smaller, more expensive bottles until the reserves arrived. A variety of juices are put out to add to your bubbles. Today's selection was pineapple, mango, and orange. Our server was communicative about the issue. Food was great. Our cheese curds had a bit of spice and were lightly breaded with a great sauce for dipping. On the bartender's advice, in ordered her favorite, the Rueben sandwich. Plenty of meat with a generous portion of crispy fries. Even though Spanky's is on DU campus, it is a restaurant that serves many different types of clientele. Who doesn't love brunch on a long weekend?! Spanky's is a staple in the DU area. Spanky's offers a large selection of items for brunch or you can order off the regular menu. We shared the fried cheese curds- those are a yes! And for my entree I ordered the Monte Cristo. I have never been able to find a Monte Cristo like good ole' Bennigan's used to make. This is the closest to that core memory of deliciousness! Bottomless Mimosas are available for a steal at $19 with your choice of orange juice, pineapple juice or mango. Being Denver Born and Raised I had previously heard of Spanky's, but it wasn't until recently when the restaurant got new management (GM, Bar manager) that the place became welcoming to all. The energy, the amount of attention put into every conversation and decision being made really allows this place to feel like THE place to go. Let me start with the positive: our server was super friendly and nice. My burger was delicious. The problems- My husband was served a warm beer. Not slightly warm, but WARM beer. That beer was $12. Also he ordered the fish tacos (2) and for $16, the tacos needed to be a lot bigger. I've never seen such small tacos with one tiny little piece of fish (basically the size of a fish stick) in each taco. His tacos came with a side and he chose the chile lime fries. Stumbled on this place trying to find somewhere open on Christmas Eve before heading to the Broncos game. Wow we were blown away! Vibe is local sports bar- food is AMAZING! We ordered the pretzels with queso cheese and fried pickles as an app. I've been on a hunt to find a great pretzel appetizer & found it here! Fried pickles are always a fave of mine and these were crisp & came with great dipping sauce. Next I had the Jam burger.... Wow.... Just wow! I did substitute the brie for goat cheese- it was perfection. The burger was so juicy and flavorful. The bacon jam paired perfectly. Highly recommend this burger. Service was also amazing. Spanky's us a sports bar near DU. My husband and I attended an event at DU last weekend and decided to try Spanky's for a bite after as we'd only ever had drinks there. So the atmosphere is loud and fun- lots of tvs on and a mix of college kids and families with younger kids. We were greeted right away and able to get a table quickly. Our waiter was nice and efficient. The drinks were good- I'd intended to get a beer but since drafts were an unbelievable $12.50, I opted for an Old Fashioned for $13- while it wasn't the best Old Fashioned I've ever had it was strong. My husband got the whiskey mule and said it was a very weakly made drink. We both ordered entrees marked as "favorites", and they weren't very good- I'd kind of hate to see what the regular food is like. The salmon was bland and the Cobb salad wasn't really a Cobb salad. The chicken croissant tasted like something you'd get at a cafeteria under a warming table and the bacon was undercooked and flabby- I couldn't eat it. While I would go back for drinks and might order something fried to pick at, I wouldn't go back for a meal. read more

Came here to satisfy my burger craving, and it did not disappoint! I had the All American (hold the egg) with tots. My burger was perfectly cooked and exactly what I was looking for! Oh Spanky's. I've had you bookmarked for a minute now. Your drool-worthy brunch menu really lured me in. So when Marissa C and I found ourselves craving a mid-day meal, I knew just the place for us! Knowing that parking in this area is tricky we snagged a spot on a side street and walked about a block to your doors. I was initially excited that we got a seat on your covered patio, but that changed quickly. The music and noise from other tables made it very difficult to have a conversation of our own. We both were craving bloody marys, so naturally we ordered a couple. They hit the spot. After browsing the menu, we opted for the Hangover Helper and the Breakfast Burrito. The menu designations for "Vibe Favorites" are super helpful to find favorites. The Hangover Helper def delivered on it's "Vibe Favorite" designation! With scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits, applewood smoked bacon, jalapeño, sautéed onion, jalapeño gravy, and cheddar cheese - damn that was everything we needed and then some. The Breakfast Burrito was chock-full of scrambled eggs, chorizo, hash browns, cheddar cheese, and smotherd with green chili, pico, and a lime crema. While the Breakfast Burrito was delish, it was just missing something. Throughout our meal, we found ourselves waiting for our server frequently. Whether it be for water refills or boxes to take home our leftovers. That really put a damper on our experience. I'm always seated quickly, cared for well, and genuinely pleased with the food. The first time I had one of their crunchy, delicious salads I knew I had waited too long to come by. After searching on Yelp for a place to grab dinner, I settled on Spanky's and overall I'd rate it a 4/5 with a caveat that they forgot two notes mentioned with my order. I got the American burger medium well (cooked on par) with tater tots. The burger was not bad (bun was toasted more than I'd preferred) but ate it all cause it was good and the tots were nice and crispy but soft on the inside. The atmosphere was pretty loud due to a party of 8 that was there so I'm not sure exactly how the noise is on a regular basis but I'm going to chalk it up to that group being pretty excited to celebrate the birthday in the group. We came to Spanky's for nostalgia reasons. We used to live on the same cross street as Spanky back in 1994 and it was a place we would visit frequently for a easy night out with a beer and a burger. We were back in the area on vacation and saw that it was still open so we decided to take our daughter to our old hangout. While there have definitely been some upgrades and expansions since we were here last, Spanky's immediately brought back some great memories and is still serving a similar menu to what we remembered. We started with the fried cheese curds and the fried pickles for appetizers because our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. I preferred the cheese curds, who doesn't love fried cheese right? The pickles were really salty and we ended up leaving those behind while we devoured the cheese curds. For our meal, I got the fish and chips. The fish was cooked well and you got three nice pieces of the flaky fish to enjoy. Served with lemon and tartar sauce you had everything you needed for a great fish and chips meal. The fries were pretty standard fries, and since I do not eat a lot of fries I do not know that I can judge them fairly. We also ordered the fish tacos at our table which looked delicious and got good reviews from my wife. The bacon cheeseburger was also a hit. I walked out feeling stuffed and with renewed memories of a great time at this little neighborhood eatery that is just a good place to chill out. read more

We arrived with a party of 16. We suggested if they could seat two tables of 8 that would be fine. Unfortunately, it was packed so, they sat us 6 and 10. It worked out of us. The service was quick and friendly. It got the boneless chicken wings which they were able to make with no sauce but provided me two sauces on the side and two dips. My husband got a burger and said it was really good and unique since it came with fried pickles on it. We didn't partake but some people in our party got milkshakes to go. Cool concept that you are able to build your own. They bring you a note pad so you can check off the ingredients you want to create your milkshake. It is right next to the DU campus.
