How should a restaurant make it right after a sickly looking mouse hobbles by our table while we are eating? (Needless to say we did NOT finish our food and immediately left) Before we left we alerted the staff and they acted like it was a common occurrence and proceeded to beat the mouse to death in front of our table with my 2 year old grandson watching. I WISH I WAS JOKING. They didn't offer to comp our lunch bill or take accountability or offer a real apology. Instead they made excuses that the mice sometimes just happen to come in. After we left I asked Google how a good restaurant owner should respond and this is what a hould have happened: This is an incredibly distressing experience, and the restaurant needs to take immediate, significant action to address both the severe hygiene failure and the psychological impact of witnessing that violence in front of your child. To make this right, the restaurant ownership and management should immediately take the following steps: 1. Financial Redress & Immediate Apology Comp the entire meal: Your bill should be completely wiped out. If you already paid, they must issue a full refund immediately. Provide formal compensation: A reputable business should offer additional compensation (such as a substantial gift certificate or direct financial gesture) along with a formal, written apology from the owner acknowledging the severity of the incident. 2. Immediate Health & Safety Measures Voluntary temporary closure: The restaurant should voluntarily close its doors immediately to address the pest issue. Professional pest control: They must hire an emergency extermination service to inspect the premises, seal entry points, and eradicate the infestation. Deep cleaning: The entire front-of-house and kitchen areas must be professionally sanitized. I did attempt to contact the owner, Oscar, numerous times same day to discuss calmly and provide him an opportunity to do the right thing but kept getting the brush off each time I tried to contact him. This is so disappointing in many ways. This was our favorite Mexican restaurant in Englewood and it's been severely tainted, not only by the obvious rodent issues but also by the lack of accountability and willingness to at least attempt to do the right thing. I hope the $80 was worth the bad review and no longer will I recommend this restaurant to friends and family as I used to. :( read more

Most Mexican restaurants in Denver aren't open for breakfast...but Catrina's is! They have several delicious options. The mystery was why we were the only ones there at 9:30am. The woman who waited on us and also seemed to cook our food was very friendly. She explained they most people don't expect Mexican restaurants to be open till 11am so that could be why we had the place to ourselves. We saw one or two people pick up take out and as we were leaving a family came in. We really enjoyed our food. My husband had a steak burrito and I had the chilaquiles. Excellent! read more

I have only ever gotten take out from here. Specifically the birria pizza. Which is probably the only thing you need to eat here because it's soooo delicious. It comes with a couple roasted jalapeños, delicious spicy and fruity dipping sauces, of course the birria liquid to dip in, cilantro, onions, and limes. Absolutely delicious! Went to meet family for a quick bit to eat, decided to give this place a try and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the pizza birria and man was it good. The flavor was amazing and the serving size was massive, the chips and salsa was a pretty much basic Mexican restaurant appetizer. The only downside I would say was the water had a very dirty taste to it when I was drinking it. $6.29 for a reasonably sized chorizo burrito and a cup of coffee. Not too bad! The burrito is excellent. I do not like a "potato-forward" breakfast burrito and this lives up to that, while still having a nice greasy chorizo, some green chili (this is a key component that makes for a great burrito) and just the right bit of kick. The coffee has an irritating cinnamon flavor so I added some half and half to sort of offset that. Anyway, good place with loads of parking and it's on the right side of the street if you are commuting into town from down south--stop in for a breakfast burrito to start your day! read more

I was excited to see another Mexican good option in the area so I dropped in on a Saturday night. When I arrived, there were a couple of small parties, otherwise not extremely busy. Was able to seat myself and a pick a spot. Let's start with the good: The restaurant is small but has plenty of four-top tables. Parking can be found either on the street or the lot in the back which is shared by the neighboring establishments. Very clean, bright and colorful. The menu has lots of options, including vegetarian. No, your may not look exactly like the photo on the wall/in the menu, but if you've ever been to this kind of restaurant before you'll expect that. They're just helpful visuals to give you an idea. The salsa they serve with the basket of chips was also very good, I'd easily eat that alone. The meh: My entree. While four enchiladas for $13.99 is a good deal, they were pretty mediocre. Rice and red sauce were good, beans didn't seem too different from what I could heat from a can, and the chicken just seemed off and there was little flavor other than chicken. I ended up eating the tortillas and leaving the chicken behind. The bad: The service was pretty disappointing. The young girl who was servicing the tables was very nice but she seemed a bit flustered, and I didn't have much interaction with her other than when I ordered, when I got my food, and then when I asked for the bill. Didn't come by to ask how everything was, refill my water, or just feel attentive in general. One other party of two people came in during my time, so it wasn't super busy. I think she was new to being a server and learning the ropes, but there were two other people there in addition to the cooks, so it's not like she was alone. I didn't desperately need anything (I was going to ask for sour cream if she had come back), though I did sit awkwardly waiting for the bill. Kind of ended up feeling like I was being an inconvenience to the restaurant. The reviews off Yelp for this location and for the one in Elizabeth are mostly 4-5 stars so I feel sad to leave this as the first review here, but I really did walk away wanting more from my experience. With their extensive menu and reasonable pricing, I want to give them another shot, but I won't be rushing back. read more

This place is the bomb.com! Freaking delicious, and I am so glad I found a great Mexican food spot near by. You can even order to go packages for home with choice of meat (Al pastor, beef, chicken), and it comes with tortilla, beans, rice, and toppings. It's a great deal and the food is so good. My fiancé and I have talked about trying Catrina for a while and we're sorry we waited as long as we did to stop in! The restaurant interior is beautifully decorated with lots of color and a neat wall showcasing what different dishes look like. Our waitress was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful when we had questions; service was also quick so we were in and out in under an hour. The chips & salsa were fine - nothing particularly special but still good and we finished the basket! Our entrees though...my fiancé ordered beef enchiladas with red sauce and really enjoyed it. The meat was seasoned well, the sauce was delicious, the refried beans weren't soggy or "wet" at all like you sometimes get at other places. I ordered the quesadilla de birria and LOVED it. The shredded beef was super flavorful and tender, there was a good amount of super meaty cheese, the char on the quesadilla was perfect, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about drinking the consommé like soup!
