The tree in the middle of the dining room is honestly worth the visit on its own. It's this massive sculpture built as a tribute to a real 2,000 year old tree in Oaxaca that holds the world record for widest trunk, and it completely anchors the room. Vibe is high end but not stuffy, would work for a date or a family dinner just as easily. Food wise, the queso fundido was a great start, Chihuahua cheese and chorizo with house-made tortillas. The standout for me was the chicharron de filete, crispy fried tenderloin over guacamole and salsas negras. I thought about that dish for two days after. Save room for dessert. The flan and the arroz con leche were both excellent, tasted like something out of somebody's actual home kitchen rather than a restaurant. Handmade masa, imported ingredients, mole negro with 45 ingredients in it, you can tell the kitchen cares about doing Oaxacan food right. Sorry guys while this may be the newest Mexican restaurant for DTC it lacks in efficiency, expediency and timely delivery of food - it is a helluva long time to get your food!! And execution of (correctly ordered) customer food selections is consistently wrong! Let me explain, I ordered off the regular Brunch and ordered the (Lunch menu) and received the Brunch menu selection. The Waitress argued that it was Brunch and 'thought' I wanted Brunch!' I was pretty specific about what I was ordering! Also the Bottomless Mimosas are only as good as your waitstaff pays attention to you empty glass!!! Otherwise its the timeless empty Mimosas! Good spot. Beautiful restaurant. Super modern feeling. Nice bar. Free parking for 3 hrs in the parking garage. Very convenient. Came for dinner on a Friday. Staff were very accommodating. Service was great. Got drinks apps and entres. Tequila manhattan was awesome. Other drinks were a bit sweet and foofoo for my taste. Really liked the apps. Got queso fundito con chorizo and mango passionfruit ceviche. Both were very good, especially the ceviche. Super bright and fruity but also healthy amount of halibut. The mains were ok. My wife got the halibut that we both thought was kind of hammered (overcooked) but the potato mash was good. The skirt steak was good but nothing super out of the ordinary. I think the place needs a bit more time to work out their menu for entres. Overall would come back in a while once the restaurant has some more time to iron a few kinks out. Experienced the worse brunch imaginable. Made a reservation for 1:15pm. We arrived on time and were seated and a gentlemen said he wasn't our waiter but would get our drinks. My guest ordered the bottomless mimosas and I got 1 mimosa and with it ordered an Iced tea. I got the Hibiscus Mimosa which was good but never got my tea. We ordered and proceeded to wait an hour for food. I kept looking around and no one had food which was a red flag. When we got I could already tell this wasn't going well. The French toast looked awful and was barely warm. I got the skirt steak and got no steak knife to cut. Our waitress Ahli but I thought she said Ashli never came and checked how good was. We had to ask multiple times for refill of Mimosas. I then asked again for Iced Tea and came with no sweetener. The steak was tough and had no flavor so I asked for any kind of salsa. My guest ordered the lunch enchiladas and when it came it had no rice or beans and an egg on top. I asked waitress about the rice and beans and she says it doesn't come and left some beans and walked away. We realized she gave us breakfast enchiladas vs the lunch but again she never came to ask if everything was ok so we couldn't even tell her. I could not wait to get out of here after waiting an hour then the food being sub par. The place is beautiful I found myself looking it was opening weekend but I saw reviews from 1-2 months ago so I don't think kitchen issues should be a factor. Great spot for brunch! We walked in without a reservation and got a table. I had the Hibiscus Mimosa, which was a little too hibiscus-forward for my taste but still good. We also ordered guacamole, street corn, shrimp tacos, enchiladas with rice and beans, and the fire-roasted halibut. Usually in mexican restaurants I have to share enchiladas because of the huge portion size but the portion size was perfecttt for one person. The street corn never came, but the owners were kind enough to offer us drinks on the house, which we really appreciated. Overall, the food was good. The service was a little slow, but the ambience was beautiful, especially the large green tree in the restaurant. Overall, a nice place for brunch and I'd come back. read more

For me, Oaxacan food is some of the best to be found in Mexico, and this lovely eatery is doing a great job. We made a lunch reservation but needn't have; according to our server, weekends and nights are busy, but weekday lunches have been quiet so far. They had black mole on the menu when we went, so I ordered the Enmoladas Oaxaqueñas, chicken enchiladas in mole negro. This is a great mole sauce, obviously made with care and attention by someone who understands it. Delicious. My husband got the chicken enchiladas with both sauces, divorciada style, and said the red guajillo sauce and the green tomatillo sauce were equally tasty. I really like Oaxacan style black beans, and wanted more. That's all I've had from the menu thus far, but I plan on returning and trying more of this cravable food. One of my favorite recent openings in the Belleview area. Family-owned, super friendly service, cute space, feels like the kind of neighborhood spot you'll become a regular at. Our favorites: - Elote with crushed Hot Cheetos (or similar) -- a must-order. - NY Strip Aguachile -- honestly one of my favorite steak dishes I've had lately. Thinly sliced steak in a bright, spicy, citrusy sauce. So fresh and flavorful. Think like a spicy ponzu sauce. - Ribeye & Bone Marrow Tacos -- rich, decadent, and completely worth it. 1 Chicken Tinga Tostada -- incredibly tender and packed with flavor. I could eat these for lunch every day. - Queso Fundido -- always a winner. - Lychee Martini- Passion Fruit Margarita We mostly ordered smaller plates this visit, but the larger entrées looked fantastic. We all loved our food which included Quesa Birria tacos, the Tinga tostada, the emmoladas from Oaxaca (which came with a devastatingly good mole!), the guacamole, the passion fruit ceviche and the churros. We asked for a few extra plain tostadas for the guacamole and they did provide 3 more for an additional charge of $3 --Kind of a cheap shot given that we spent well over $300 for our 4 person table. Service: 4.5/5. Our server Shaneah was pleasant and efficient, showing up most of the time when we needed her. Ambiance: 3/5. This was the Achilles heel of El Tule. The single room was packed on a Saturday night with a table of 20 and another 15 smaller tables. It was so loud that we had to shout to be heard even at our table of four. It was really hard to hear our server. My iWatch alerted me to LOUD ENVIRONMENT at least twice. We didn't care for the sports bar atmosphere with the four large televisions above the bar. El Tule disappointed on the ambiance. Overall: 4+/5. Some of the best Oaxaca inspired food that we have found in Colorado. Mole was wonderful. Perhaps on a different night than this Saturday it would be less loud. We would definitely come back for the food, which was outstanding-- but the atmosphere was bothersome enough that we have some hesitation about a return visit. read more

I've been in a few times now and El Tule has never disappointed. The bar team and servers are attentive and provide amazing service. The room is absolutely gorgeous, ask about the tree in the middle of the room for a really cool story, and the food has been stellar. The cochinita was outstanding, but a portion worth sharing with a few appetizers. All that being said my standout dish has been the tinga tostada. Price point is fantastic and it is easily the best app I've had south of Denver in quite some time. Highly recommend. read more

My personal opinion: El Tuul is overpriced for what you get. The food was good, but honestly, not that good for the price. The queso fundido, for example, was essentially melted cheese and chorizo, and I felt like I could make something very similar at home for a fraction of the cost. We also had a pretty long wait when we were ready to leave and were trying to get our waitress to come over so we could pay. What was frustrating was seeing the owner's son come in and spend a lot of attention on a table that had arrived well after us, while we were still waiting. I understand paying more for a great dining experience in Cherry Creek or downtown Denver, or for something genuinely unique like a chef's counter experience. But for a restaurant in Bellevue, I personally don't think the food or overall experience justifies the price. The food is good, but expect to pay more and expect to wait. We came in for their practice/soft opening, where the staff was training in exchange for half off on food. Everything we had was delicious. We will be back. The staff were pleasant and attentive. This is a great addition to the neighborhood! Kudos to the owner for spending extra on atmosphere, vibe and impressive flair to the menu. We found the cocktails to be phenomenal. We had multiple Mexican inspired drinks and there was not a single clunker The food was delicious overall. For apps the fried cheese and street corn were both great. I am not a bone marrow guy, but it seemed to be a hit. For entrees, the enchiladas and carne asada were done well. The churros to finish didn't miss either - smartly done. Put all of that together with a well hired staff and it's a must try. My only areas of upgrade were small. The tortilla soup will need to be swapped out at some point. It's a tomato soup at best where someone tried to get too creative. On the flip side the carne asada tacos are too simple. Small corn tortilla and finely diced steak. We went there a couple of weeks ago and it was great. We brought friends back with us and it was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. (We are foodies and have been everywhere). Took 20 min for anyone to bring us water or talk to us, ordered Queso Fundido and they brought no chips or tortillas. We asked 3 people to bring them including manager (she was very rude). After 20 minutes finally got those. Never an acknowldgmemnt for issues. Food is amazing, but the service, responsiveness, rudeness of staff and manager makes it hard to go back.
