What a surprise, this was phenomenal! Never judge a book by its cover. We got the avocado burrito smothered and a bacon/sausage breakfast bowl which were both out of this world. Massive portions and great prices. The service was impeccable (8 out of 5) and the inside has some really cool decor. Absolutely coming back!! read more

I am always on the hunt to venture beyond the usual chain restaurants and bars along 285, so I decided to take a short detour onto W Hampden to check out Home Cafe. While the exterior looks unpretentious (think old school roadside diner), step inside and diners will find fun decor, some of the most friendliest staff, and be treated to some fantastic breakfast/brunch menu options. The breakfast menu is simple (and in a good way). I ordered the Avocado Breakfast Burrito, smothered. The latter is a definite recommendation because the green chili here is perfect and IMHO, not too spicy. I might have added Cholula to kick it up a notch. ;). Home Cafe is clearly a neighborhood favorite, as the booths were occupied as well as the outdoor cafe tables, but I was still able to grab a seat at the breakfast bar. One thing to note is that parking can be a little challenging, especially for those needing mobility access. The front lot fills up and there are no spaces designated for ADA access. Same goes for the restrooms, which are located downstairs in the basement. read more

The service here is quick. We sat as soon as we walked in and food was cooked fast. The cafe itself is very quaint with lots of bright colors and fun decor. The food- my son, who grew up in SoCal eating his fair share of burritos, absolutely loved his Meat Lover's Breakfast Burrito. His words: decent price, very good size but something to fill me up for the day. I got José's and it was good, but nothing to rave about. The gravy is decent. Good taste of pepper. The biscuits were good, but the bottom was just slightly too crisp making it not easy to cut with a fork. The sausage patties are basic. We also wanted to give their pancake a try. Glad we did. It was good. We opted to do a chocolate chip one which was a great choice. The pancake was good. It's not too dry or dense but not fluffy either. I would get the pancake again. Overall, cute little place with good service and food. read more

I am so disappointed! Went here two months ago and it was amazing. Went here today and it was terrible! Ordered Carnitas burrito both times first time it was moist and shredded just like Carnitas should be. This time my burrito was filled with hard dry chunks of meat that I could not finish. First time ate in, unfortunately, this I got it to go and I wasn't going back. Really too bad. read more

This place has been a favorite of mine for a few years now... they're so friendly and the food is good. Their skillet menu could be a little better, maybe add a build your own option, but their Mexican specials are delicious. My only frustration with this cafe is that they've been closed at random times when i expected them to be open. I've crossed paths with others experiencing the same confusion. Today I ordered the rellenos breakfast and everything about it was impressive, the beans, potatoes, eggs, chili and especially the rellenos! read more

My wife and I have driven past this place dozens of times over the last ten years and we have never stopped in. This morning, we opted to fix that. As we walked in, we were immediately hit by the small town look and feel off this place. I felt like I was walking into a small town diner in the 50s and I really enjoyed it. It's very small inside but with only four other people inside, it didn't feel cramped. The decor is very interesting and the small "counter" you can choose to sit at is very quaint. The menu is simple but filled with lunch and breakfast favorites catering classic American tastes as well as Mexican. Service was prompt and courteous but oddly distant. Not a word was spoken to us that wasn't about ordering or paying the cheque. I ordered the smothered vegetarian and a short stack of pancakes. It was huge and much more than I could eat in a single sitting. It was hot, fresh and quite possibly the best vegetarian breakfast burrito I've ever had. The pancakes were three times the size of a typical ihop pancake and they were fluffy and quite good. We look forward to trying their lunch menu next time. Plus, I think we will sit outside as the area in front looked very inviting. Parking is simple and very close. I think I walked 15 feet from my car to the front door. Here are the only drawbacks we noticed about the place. First, the restroom is in the basement and the only way to it is the stairs. Add to that the fact the building itself i likely 80 years old and was likely a single family home at one time. Picture the thin, steep stairs going into the basement of a very old home and that's what this is. I have no mobility issues and the stairs were steep for me and the ceiling I had to duck to get under. Nobody with any level of mobility issues with be able to negotiate these stairs and they should not try. The second drawback, though trivial, is the fact they charge a credit card processing fee. I despise credit card fees. I understand them but despise them. I paid 60 dollars for two people to have breakfast so they can eat the 1.50 credit card fee or hide it in my food bill. I hate seeing it as it makes me feel like I'm being nickel and dimed. All in all? This is a great place to eat and you get plenty of food. The only reason it's not a five star rating is the credit card fee. Which I've started with no ambiguity that I despise. read more

Great old fashioned cafe with Mexican influences. Good eggs and hash browns. Neat and clean.

What a little eclectic place! We went here for breakfast on a Tuesday AM and we were the only sit down customers, however, many people picked up breakfast burritos to go. At least on the day we were there, it was a one-man shop! We ordered the pancakes, denver omelette, and bacon breakfast burrito. Everything was really fresh and tasty! Would definitely come back again and absolutely want to give their hand held burritos a go. They need to get an updated sign though, I have driven past this on Santa Fe thousands of times and due to the lack of signage (completely faded) I had no idea it even existed until looking on Yelp! read more

The couple that was working the cafe were very friendly and the timing for our food was very nice. The service was fast and there was options for almost everyone. There were tacos, breakfast items, sandwiches and a lot more. There prices are very affordable and when you get your check they even have little candies they give you. The environment was very quiet and had many decorations that you can look at while you eat. Everything there was amazing and I would recommend it. read more

Home cafe was okay. I ordered a smothered avocado burrito with bacon. The green chile had a good amount of heat but there were several chile stems and roasted chile skin that I had to pick out. The avocados were a nice touch and the bacon added a good flavor but I had to keep picking those little stems out of my mouth. We also ordered pancakes and sunny side up eggs. The pancakes were the best part of the meal. They were huge and fluffy. The eggs could've been cooked a little more. I was hoping this may be a hidden little gem but it did not hit the spot. read more

Super cute little diner. I have been her many times and always got delicious food and friendly service. This is a neighborhood gem!!

Make sure you confirm with the server that the dish you are ordering is what you will be receiving. Menu says cheese omelette comes with veggies and cheese when I got my order it was eggs scrambled and cheese. Asked the server what happened and said the menu was done incorrectly. The whole experience was comical with the staff telling us we should have a better understanding on how their operations are done. It's not worth the headache might have been a great spot once but not anymore try Mike Cafe way better. read more

Pull up a barstool for a classic diner experience, table, or booths for more intimate dining. This little cafe has it all including very warm and colorful decor. GREAT CAFE! My bf & I stopped in for the first time today & absolutely fell in love. We will be coming back for numerous reasons, one of the biggest being the friendly staff & customers. It has a family restaurant vibe because it is! The brother of the waitress is actually in the Navy & there are cute photos of the family everywhere not to mention funny posters everywhere as well. The waitress is SUPER friendly & so nice to everyone as well, love her vibes & everything in general. Great great prices & super cheap for the most part. For our 2 meals & coffee we paid just over $20! read more

What a gem! I was looking for a quick and easy breakfast and happened to find this place was close by. I decided the menu had some compelling options so I went for it. Wow! The waitress was so friendly and welcoming. The food arrived quickly and was well prepared. My breakfast burrito was EXCELLENT. The chile smothered on top was delicious. The ambiance was cute and well put together. That evening I was mentioning to some friends that I had gone to this place. We ended up going together for breakfast on Sunday. Yet again they knocked it out of the park! read more

Great fast service! This awesome mom and pop diner has yummy food! Brightly colored walls with tin signs and photos. I love it!

This restaurant is very clean. There are a lot of items here but they keep things clean.

This is a great inexpensive place to get breakfast. There's not a ton of room inside but there was no line at 9am so that's a nice change of pace for breakfast in Denver. Service was great. Menu is no frills but they have a great selection of Mexican items available as well. The food is great for the price point. Plenty of parking available. read more

Delicious! This little restaurant is distinctly Hispanic with a wide variety of options. When we arrived, there was one person working both the kitchen and as a waitstaff. He was working very hard and we appreciate him. The restaurant is small and maybe holds 30 people. As its name implies, the restaurant feels like we are in someone's kitchen sand is very comfortable. The four of us ordered different items- huevos rancheros, French toast with blueberries and bacon, chilaquiles with chorizo and favi's rellenos plate. All were delicious although the chilaquiles were not traditional. I had the rellenos with two eggs over easy on top, served with potatoes and refried beans. The green sauce was very flavorful and not too hot - the beans were clearly homemade and dusted with cheese. The rellenos were delicious with a little heat- the eggs muted the heat as well. The coffee was perfect and overall, we were all satisfied with our meals. We did not use the restroom. read more

While visiting from California I had the pleasure of having breakfast here twice. First time I had a breakfast burrito with ham and the second time I had huevos rancheros. Both of my meals were absolutely delicious and served promptly with a friendly attitude. Also, you'd be hard pressed to find this quality of food for the affordable prices they have at Home Cafe. Even during this pandemic, I felt very safe because of the distancing they employed within their dining area and that the staff wore masks at all times. Also, I don't know how they do it but their coffee actually taste like coffee! Most restaurants I eat at I find it so watered down that I drink 5 cups and don't really feel the coffee. Here I could actually enjoy a couple of cups and be quite content. Also, I have to give a huge shout out to Mariah who personally ran the dining area like a boss! She served everyone that could fit in the restaurant, handled multiple phoned in orders, and checked out a few who came to pick theirs up! During all this she still had bandwidth to check on me multiple times to make sure I was enjoying my breakfast and ask if I needed anything else. And though she was wearing a mask, she was as easy on the eyes as she was an amazing hostess :-) Also, they have gluten free options on the menu, which is a treat for a place like this. I highly recommend this quaint little cafe. read more

This is my favorite sort of place! It's a wonderful mix of 50s classic diner meets cheerful Mexican home. It felt just like being at a little roadside taqueria or visiting a friendly home in Mexico--but where your can also get pancakes and biscuits and gravy.
