Okay so there are a couple Lofty locations, four to be exact (C'bad, La Costa, Solana, and Encinitas). Although, if we wanna get technical, there are five. Because across Coast Hwy from the flagship store in Encinitas, is another Lofty. The one on the west side of Coast is easier in my opinion--because the parking lot at the flagship is super tight with limited spaces. (Maybe 10? One handicap.) Okay now onto the coffee. I made the "mistake" of ordering the Salted Caramel Latte and can't bring myself to try anything else! It's heaven in a cup. Literally the smoothest "covfefe" (I got jokes) I've ever had. The C'bad location is the most consistent with my order, whereas the Encinitas (flagship) seems to be hit-or-miss with how well it's gonna come out. And, since it's an $8 cup of coffee.... ($6 + $2 tip)..... I expect nothing less than perfection. Does that sound entitled? Probably. Meh. I saw the Fellow pour over and kettle set up in the store and after a bit of research decided to purchase. I did so online though just out of convenience. IT IS A FABULOUS SET UP!!! **Highly recommend** (The XF pour over and carafe plus the kettle. You can thank me later.) If you're looking for a good sit down coffee with a friend, do C'bad location. The croissant is quite pricey for what it is, so I wouldn't get that again, but I was pleasantly surprised by the coffee. We live in Torrance, so we aren't in the area much, but this is an obligatory stop for us whenever we are down here! We stop here on our way to Legoland - less than 10 min away. The salted caramel latte with almond milk is my favorite coffee treat hands down! Poached eggs with toast and hummus and the toast with hummus and avocado are our favorite savory snacks from here. The avocado toast is absolutely delicious but we've switched to the above order because it's easier to eat/share. The açaí bowls here are the best! Literally one of my favorite açaí bowls from just about anywhere . Delicious açaí and crispy crunch granola with fresh fruit toppings. The barista that helped me was very friendly and recommended the Turkish Coffee with the Ethiopia Sidama single-origin espresso ($1.5 up-charge). The coffee was BOMB! Don't get me wrong it was delicious and filling, but it did hurt a bit to pay $12 and wait half an hour for them to prepare one pretty slice of bread. But the garnishes were fresh, the hummus was tasty, and I had a nice break. I'll definitely come by again, just maybe not for the avocado toast. Or we'll find a breakfast fav (like their toast and eggs plates) and it'll be great for a while and then the eggs will be just about raw (I'm into a runny yolk but a runny everything is a little nasty). I can't even say this only happens when they're slammed and having a huge breakfast rush. It seems to unfortunately just be at random. Traveling from OC into SD and stopped here for caffeine fix. I ordered a cappuccino and the yogurt bowl which was delicious and aesthetically pleasing. Received my order in less than ten minutes. The only turn-off was the parking. We were confused where to park at first. We proceeded to park in the back and we were about to pay for parking when a friendly local informed us we actually didn't have to pay. If you're someone who cares more about nice vibes and flavored coffee this might be the place for you. I haven't tried any of their flavors or food so I can't speak to that... but the coffee I did not like. I'm what some might call a coffee snob The milk was steamed fine. Usually if a place can put out consistent latte art then they actually know how to steam milk. But I just could not stand the taste of the espresso. I don't even know how to describe it, like nutty cardboard, not like coffee. Just not for me, might taste good with flavor mixed in. Most of the seating is outside so wear a jacket haha. I did like doing work there. The staff wasn't super friendly and the coffee was very very overpriced. I think I spent like $7 for an unflavored latte which I know it's oceanside, but I can feed myself a meal for cheaper than that. Will I go back or recommend? probably not. Wow, this place is popular. Sorry folks, I just don't get it. The coffee was fine, really spicy latte was enjoyable. The breakfast was sad, two poached eggs, a very sad sausage patty, and some tomato slices for like $15 - 20. Much better breakfast to be had in the area for that price. I always feel compelled to tip table service prices, but that's a tough sell when really it's counter service and an expensive couple of eggs. Very hip ambiance, if you're into that sort of thing. Really bad coffee. This is seriously not well flavored or balanced. I gave this place three tries hoping it was an error but no, it was not. My head said no to this place but I was in the area while running errands. I went anyway. Drank about 4-5 sips and was done. Could not drink it anymore. Threw it out with our money. Sour and acidic. Hard on the stomach and mouth. Not a great combo for coffee. Roasting is not good here, obviously by the coffee. I still haven't found a really good coffee place in North county. I asked if they had hot drinks but said I didn't think so from looking at the menu and the girl agreed saying they don't. I ordered my choice and then noticed a lemon bakery item. So I asked if it was really lemony, and she said no not really. Which is fine but she didn't really sell it for me. So I didn't get anything else. My drink came out fairly quickly and then I asked where the lids were. She just pointed to the back wall. I went over there and let me tell you, it's very hard to find. It wasn't fully stocked so easily missed. No one bothered to help me when it clearly looked like I was lost. Whatever. I love lofty coffee!!! It is the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and food while working or catching up with someone. The only problem with working there is that there are no outlets. I absolutely love that they have their own homemade almond milk and homemade breads. They make their own bread and gluten free bread. Everything that is done at lofty is done so well. I love their hummus/avocado toast and their acai bowl. I'm not gluten free but I love their homemade gluten free bread, it is very dense so it is filling. I'm not sure if this is affiliated with the Encinitas location, but this coffee shop must be fairly new. It's so sleek and modern, with emphasis on outdoor seating, truly the Cali way to go! It's very simple in design yet not in a bad way. It definitely stands out. They've found a way to maximize the small space yet it still seems so roomy. We stopped by while on a bike ride in the village. The guy working the register greeted us. He was very nice. Even had half of a banana sliced onto a little plate for my daughter. We ordered an açaí bowl and a lofty style NOLA. The açaí bowl was very tasty. The granola and coconut flakes were crunchy and not at all stale. The fruit was the best part! The berries were fresh, ripe and sweet! I'm not much of a berries fan because they're too tarty. But these were perfect! I almost went up and asked where they get their fruit! The NOLA cold brew was very good. It had a fresh mint leaves on top which did not overpower the drink. I could taste the vanilla with a hint of mint. It was very good, although I would have preferred the coffee a bit stronger. I definitely recommend this place for a quick run in the morning or if you are looking to relax in the sun and people watch, this is your place! read more

I knew whoever took over our beloved antique store, i'd hold a bit of a grudge. So when the hubby mentioned a much needed coffee shop was moving into the village, I was beyond excited. When he told me where, I was like hmmm, i'm one to hold a grudge but lofty coffee????? They might've already been forgiven. If one thing was severely lacking in the village, it would be a good craft coffee spot. So, this was a welcomed addition. The store decor - 5 stars! Outside of the typical barrio look and feel; this lofty is more industrial and modern but yet, it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb like most of the monstrosities being built in the area. Very open and inviting. The coffee this morning however, HUGE disappointment! We are regulars at their encinitas locations so we know how their drinks are usually prepared. Typically with precision. When our drinks came within a minute of ordering, it made us both pause. It never comes out that quick! We appreciate the time it takes to prepare a good cup of coffee. So, We are happy to wait. We save sloppy for Starbucks. And life is too short for slop. While we appreciated the quick return, it wasn't made with the same precision. My trusted iced americano tasted burnt and my husband swore the milk in his latte was bad. Both were discarded after a few sips. Had we stopped and enjoyed our drinks there, we would've asked them to remake but we were making our way to Cafe Topes for breakfast and a block too far to turn around. They fell short on this visit but hopefully it was just a fluke. read more

Food, coffee, and service is solid here at Lofty! We had great service from the cashiers and baristas, all our items were made perfectly, and the open air gives a nice ambiance. Had a cloudy Kyoto cold brew, matcha latte, sausage croissant sando, matcha donut, and savory breakfast scone. Everything was great, next time I'd just get the cold brew black or nitro as the coffee just itself is tasty and has some nice notes to it, smooth roasty chocolate and a subtle bright berry note.
