I had the opportunity to experience this restaurant and it did not disappoint! I dined on the outdoor patio. It was on the warmer side and they didn't have any shaded seats available, but I love the sun and wasn't bothered by this. The servers were very attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and provided too notch customer service. I love when they can speak to the menu and offer suggestions. Me and my friend opted to share a salad and pasta because we weren't super hungry. We ordered the very fren salad and the Malfadine pasta. The salad was fresh, crisp and had a great flavor. The seeds at times felt like I had them all in my teeth, so needed to do a teeth check afterwards! Haha the pasta is made fresh and was light, but so flavorful. We did not leave a morsel on the plate! I only walked through the inside to find a restroom. It looked like they had a lot of seating for larger parties and a private dining room as well. I couldn't give five stars because of a few hiccups I experienced, but I'm going to bury the negatives at the bottom of this review. For our first appetizer-type courses, we ordered sliced sourdough with butter and roasted cabbage - both great options. The roasted cabbage ended up being my favorite part of the dinner. It was like a Caesar salad on a juicy, tender cabbage spear with a slight char. I felt like I definitely needed to order some bread to try some element of the bakery. We got another taste of the bakery because we also ordered pizza from the kids menu. I snuck a piece and that was great. We ordered two main courses: one pasta dish and the other was a braised rabbit with morels. The pasta dish was fine but my wife and I weren't planning to share it. We had to share it because the rabbit dish took so long that I had to cancel the order. It was unfortunate because I was really looking forward to that. That was one inconvenience. The other hiccup was they didn't have any beer available because of a cooler issue. They had really good beer on the menu too, so finding that out after I ordered was a let down. I entertained ordering wine or a cocktail afterward, but passed. We were sitting by the bar and the cocktails they were making looked really good. With those issues, the manager spoke with us and sent us home with a slice of lemon meringue pie to rectify. We appreciated the gesture and the service we had all night was good. I've been wanting to make it to wildland since its inception, but I'm just not in the area that often. I had an appointment earlier in the day in Oceanside so I decided to drive the coast and stop on my way home. I could see where parking could be a problem, but I found a spot relatively quickly. I walked up and admired the patio. It's definitely a nice spot for outdoor dining. I walked in and noticed a big wide open industrial space. The bar was in the middle as well as the coffee bar. The woman at the counter greeted me kindly when I walked in and answered my questions. I know I already like steadystate coffee so I happily ordered a latte. I asked if they had oat milk, which she said they did. The pastries and breads looked tempting so I also ordered a Madeline. She advised me that I needed to pick up my coffee at the end of the bar in the middle of the large room and handed me my Madeleine. Upon payment I had my receipt emailed to me. I was greeted at the bar by the barista who served me my drink. It took a few minutes, but I wasn't expecting otherwise, and I was happily enjoying looking at the restaurant. There were people in the back working on their computers and people dining throughout the restaurant. It was only about 11:30 so there weren't a lot of people there yet but I imagine it gets quite busy. She handed me my latte and I was on my way. It was good, nice and strong. My Madeline was very good too, and I could've eaten more than one easily. When I looked at my receipt later, I noticed they charged me an extra dollar for oat milk. I understand that some places do and some places don't, but when I asked if they had oatmilk, it should it should have been stated. Enjoyed my time catching up with friends and working from Wildland! The place itself is BEAUTIFUL very open and a lot of natural light. Even though it was busy throughout our time, there was enough space it did not feel stuffy. I started with a vanilla latte with oat milk which was delicious but not very hot. After paying extra for oat milk it was over a $10 latte. Note that the surcharge is 4% as well. Later I went up to the cashier and ordered the quarter chicken. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and I really enjoyed the sauces it came with. The lettuce was interesting and good but could have used a salad dressing as it was quite dry and I didn't want to dip it in the aioli, chili oil or humus. Also some parts of the lettuce tasted weirdly chemically - I wonder if because they did not cut it it was hard to wash and something stayed on it that was foul tasting. Also cutting the chicken multiple times created cuts in the paper and I didn't accidentally eat the paper which got soggy and easy to pick up which was not pleasant. Lastly, one of the water carafes we used had dark sediment in the bottom which was very off putting. This place gets busy! I arrived at ~1pm and there was a line out the door. I waited for a good 15-20 min until I was able to order. I ordered the puff rice bowl which came with puffed organic brown rice, cucumbers, avocado, kale, cilantro, feta cheese all topped with a delicious sunny side up egg. I added bacon which made this dish extra savory. The bacon itself was too salty though. Everything tasted fresh - I love all the crunchy rice puffs and all the delicious veggies. Finally trying out the food scene in Carlsbad! Wildland was such a great first experience. And I'm always a fan of a viewable kitchen; it's so fun watching the artists create their pieces of art. The space has high ceilings, so it feels really open and spacious. The beverage menu is impressive with spritzes, classic cocktails, beer, clarified drinks, and mocktails. We were a group of friends celebrating a birthday, so we ordered a mix of salads, a pizza, a pasta, and a steak entrée to share. The wood‑fired cabbage is their take on a Caesar salad and wow -- I may only make Caesar with cabbage from now on. Soft on the inside, charred on the outside, so much flavor. The 'Nduja pizza was great, and the homemade bread crust makes such a difference. Sadly, they didn't have ranch, but they brought out a fresh dill aioli‑style sauce that worked perfectly. It was VERY soft bread, and really tasty. I'd get this again in a heart beat! Everyone raves about this place but from what I can tell from the couple times I've been here is that their cocktails are severely overpriced snowcones with barely have any liquid in them, there's no consistency to their recipes - go one night and get a certain dish then go the next night and get the same exact dish, it's completely different. The actual food is fine - nothing that I'd rave over. The wait staff can't read the room, they interrupt abruptly and quite literally mid sentence with little regard to what's happening at the table, we were all joking about it because it felt like every time someone was in the middle of speaking about something important, our guy would just barge in so loudly with a pointless question that definitely could've waited. The ambience is nice, I don't really care for the dirt floor in the front, be careful with nice shoes - but we can't have everything. I ordered the quarter chicken plate while it was photogenic, the flavor was essentially standard rotisserie and the hummus came with a confusingly small amount of veggies. My group enjoyed the breakfast plate. The breakfast sandwich was decent and the yolk was runny though they ran out of pain au lait for the bread and subbed it with sourdough. On a high note, the olive oil honey latte was delicious definitely get it hot for the full flavor profile though mine was served in a glass and arrived lukewarm. For dessert, skip the French silk pie and the pain au chocolat, get the pistachio blackberry tart instead. 3.5 stars. I wanted to like them more but the entrees were a tad disappointing. We had reservations and I recommend making one because this place is busy. We parked in the public parking lot one block over so it was a 3-ish minute walk to the restaurant. The ambiance is posh with an industrial yet minimal feel to it. The two person tables are a little smaller than we would like (3 plates of food just about fit on the table). The chairs are uncomfortable. We started with drinks - my friend got the margarita and I got the boxing day cocktail. The margarita was based off grape juice but somehow sweeter than we anticipated. My friend does not like sweet drinks and we had to ask for almost no agave to make this drink to her taste. The celery salt was interesting and the best part of the drink. It should be spread all around the rim and not just on one corner. I know it makes the presentation look better but that salt cut down on the sweetness immensely and we loved that combination. PLEASE add the salt all around the rim! The boxing day was a gin based cocktail served as a latte. While you get a hint of gin, it isnt overwhelming, so I liked it! It tasted like a decaffeinated latte :) it is a pricey cocktail though because we paid $18 for this. For food, we started with the wood Fired Cabbage, then the 'Nduja pizza, followed by the lamb meatballs and bucatini carbonara, and a dessert of the chocolate hazelnut cake. The wood Fired Cabbage was the bomb and I will definitely come back here for this dish. The cabbage is, as the name suggests, wood Fired and then stuffed with salad, crispy shallots and covered with shredded Parmesan. The whole thing is delicious and surprisingly light! The shallots elevate the dish completely. The 'Nduja felt like there was a lot happening - too many ingredients, too many flavors so that nothing was able to stand out. The menu said there was spicy 'Nduja. We didn't taste the spice because the cheese, the onions, the fennel, everything overpowered the main component of this dish. I also felt that the crust was fried and burnt a little. I would request removing a couple of ingredients so that the star of the dish i.e. the sausage, can remain the star. The lamb meatballs were ok. Nothing to sing songs about but not bad either. The bucatini carbonara was not good. There was a weird flavor in the dish, which I think came from the guanciale...an almost sweet bitter flavor that ruined the carbonara flavor. I also felt that the carbonara sauce itself was thicker than I am used to. The bucatini was a little chewy too. All in all, that dish wasn't my favorite. It tasted better the next morning after I had cooked it a little more. We ended the meal with the chocolate hazelnut cake. We thought it would be an individual cake but it was a slice. The cake was delicious but heavy. The hazelnut chocolate ganache in between the layers was delicious and the cake sponge was soft. Between the two of us, we finished less than half the slice, so I highly recommend getting this only if you have more than 2 people in the group. All in all, our experience was not as wonderful as we would have liked and this was primarily driven by the main course. We won't be back. read more

My husband looooooooved the crudo. Clams were ok. Then the entrees were unfortunately a miss between myself and most of my party. One of the pasta dishes my 2 friends got, the mafaldine, they said it was under seasoned. But another got the bucatini and it was good. And the mushroom and brocollini pizza we got was very bitter and bland. Just seemed like there was better opportunity complimenting than flavor combo. I love all types of pizza especially mushroom but it was honestly a 1/5 personally . My husband had it as well and didn't like it either. Tiramisu dessert was great. Another friend had the steak and they enjoyed it. The gnocchi was rich was good as well. Noticed no one came by for any fresh pepper or cheese when we received the entrees. The other thing we got was the pizza sandwich which was delicious as well especially with the egg yolk. Drinks we got was Paloma and Romantic comedy they were delicious as well very refreshing. It was tasty if you love old school smoked fish - but it was more bread: a wee little bit of smoked salmon spread on three pieces of bread. If you get this, don't order the sourdough - or ask them if you can maybe get it on vegetables? Very heavy on the carbs, light on the fish, but still tasty. Corn agnolotti: a very nice dish, not the same thing you get every where. It didn't blow my mind and it wasn't huge but I enjoyed it. Dessert: I tried the stone fruit tart. The cream was YUM. The pastry was very good. The pieces of stone fruit (plum? nectarine?) were very large and a little bland, so I pushed them aside and ate the cream and pastry. Maybe slice them thinner so people get a little of each in each bite? Or maybe they need to soak in something. He recommended I tried the Woodfire pizza sandwich and it did not disappoint whatsoever. I paired that with the oat milk salted maple latte & it was quite literally the perfect breakfast. This is my second time dining here and have really enjoyed it. I love the fact that they fresh make their breads in house as well as the pizza dough. I love the fresh sourdough bread and butter as a started to share with the table. You have to order the cabbage dish it is like a ceasar salad and the flavor of their house dressing is so good last time we went we ordered two of them for the table to share. I enjoy doing things family style so we shared some pizzas and pastas. I have to say the mafaldine pasta is my favorite thing I have had for an entrée and we add steak to it as well for some protein. The wait was understandably an hour on a Saturday night, but we were able to be seated outside a bit more quickly with a reservation through open table. Our server was friendly and happy to go through his favorites on the menu (which were most of the items, ha), but after we ordered he didn't come back to the table and someone else brought our check. We landed on the mushroom agnolotti, which was delicious and just about the right portion, and the 'Nduja pizza, which was very spicy and had slightly too many flavors going on. This is a takeout review on their bakery items. The place is chic and spacious. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We ordered a chocolate croissant and almond croissant. Chocolate Croissant- I would recommend eating this reheated for optimum enjoyment. Pastry is flaky with a light crisp outside. Soft and fluffy inside. Chocolate filling is gooey and just the right amount of sweetness. Almond Croissant- This is the best almond croissant I've ever had! The quality of the pastry is impeccable. The filling is custardy with a deep almond flavor. There is a generous amount and you can taste it in every bite. Great experience overall. read more

This is the sister restaurant of Campfire (where reservations are needed). In Wildland, just show up and if you can wait (which really doesn't take very long), you will not regret it. Upon arrival for lunch, we were able to wait our turn to order from a line. We were given a number for our food order, as we chose to sit inside or out - we can even bring our furry family member (seating is at a patio in the front). Didn't take long to get our food. Check out our attached pics, that aren't really that many because the food smelled and looked so good, we devoured our orders immediately. Yum to the max! Our surrounding inside was very... chill. Enjoyed people watching for awhile until our order arrived. After that, the world existed only in a distance as we took in the feast before us. Oh yeah, we're coming back! read more

Had early dinner at Wildlands and it was a great time. The atmosphere is California casual and great for friends who wanna hang out. The front outdoor seating is great especially in the late afternoon. Indoors was nicely decorated. Lots of warm medium tone woods and comfortable seating. The food was very good to excellent. My favorites main dish was the Branzino. Perfectly cooked! The green sauce on the side makes you keep eating non stop. Also the charred mushrooms was an unexpected delight. The smokiness of the charred played nicely with the earthiness of the mushroom. I've never had anything like it but highly recommend. My chicken dish was cooked nicely but the sauce was overpowering IMO. The margherita pizza was delish as well. Our service was spot on. Friendly and attentive enough. Our server took care of us without being overbearing. Overall this is a fun place to have good food and hangout with friends. read more

Wildland is the epitome of delicious hipster culture. It's putting an expensive low key bougie place next to a self serve car wash. lol! Parking is rough as it's free street parking. Plan to walk a couple blocks - you can park at the train station for free too. It's all free. Then you wait in line. It's good though. Love the different rooms and offerings. Big indoor, nice patio and some private rooms. Just cute and yummy with some unnecessary and fun design choices. read more

The standouts here for me are the fresh olive bread and the butternut squash loaf. They are absolutely EXCELLENT. That said, I think breakfast/brunch is where it's at here. The first time I came here it was for dinner and I will admit I was a little disappointed. They truly excel with their breads, pastries, and pizza. Nothing else really stood out to me. This place is huge, but it can get really busy with a long line at certain times of the day. They can also run out of breads and pastries in the afternoon. Overall, perfect casual spot to grab a bite, but I'd recommend trying the pastries, breads, or pizza above all else! read more

We arrived at Wildland around 4:00 for our 4:30 reservation, grabbed drinks at the bar while waiting for the kitchen to open, and took an outdoor table since we had our dog. At 4:30 we checked in with the host stand and confirmed our table was okay, but despite this we sat for about 30 minutes without being acknowledged while nearby tables received service. After checking again 2 more times between 4:45-5:15, it still took another 15 minutes before our server approached and oddly opened with, "I heard you guys wanted to order some food?". She didn't explain the menu or anything so we ended up panic ordering. We honestly should have left prior to this but we were settled in with our drinks from the bar and also had our dog with us so it would have been a hassle to go elsewhere and we were also really excited to dine here. There were no check-ins during the meal and we had to flag someone down for the check. It felt like she didn't want to serve us for some reason, or maybe thought we just sat there without a reservation, but we made sure everything was good with the host 3 separate times. We had a party of 4 and our check was on the higher side, so it felt odd that we were being treated weirdly by the server. The busser in our section was excellent and attentive throughout, but overall the service felt disorganized and disappointing. read more
