We consistently get our bread from here most every week and have tried many of their pastries and baguettes as well. The ginger molasses cookies are the best and you can't beat their croissants. If you're in the mood for pizza, they also make a good slice as well. Service is fine and on the weekends they have live music outside which is a nice touch. read more

Really good baguettes and ham and cheese sandwich. I do not eat bread or gluten much since my wife is Celiac but when I can sneak it, I will be popping in here. I like the fact they bake the baguettes darker for our climate so it does not get too soft too quickly. Next day a 1-2 min in the toaster and it came out perfect. Good stuff. read more

Friendly service and products are organic and have clean ingredients. Went at the end of the right before closing and there was still a lot to choose from. I will definitely be going back and I'll try one of their freshly made pizzas or sandwiches. read more

Constantly getting bread with big holes from this place. More than half the loaf has air bubbles. It's a little too pricey for the product they provide for their customers. read more

Pastries: I usually don't like almond croissants, but theirs has a different flavor that I actually really enjoy, and this is 5/5. Fruit danish was okay. Bread: We got the walnut loaf on a friend recommendation. It was unexpectedly bland, but had good texture. Coffee: Not good at all. Vanilla latte was overly sweet, couldn't even taste the espresso. Brewed coffee was also very acidic and unpleasant. read more

I'm a huge bakery fan especially a baguette fan. Saw this online right before I left Oceanside to San Diego. Decided to give it a try. Hit the spot. Baguette was one of the best I have had down here in so cal. Been here almost 2 years previously in the Bay Area where bakeries are abundant and have lots of options. 2 thumbs up. read more

Ah, the mouth-watering smell of freshly baked bread! One simply can't escape the comforting feeling it brings. There's a huge selection of newly baked breads, freshly made sandwiches, and pizzas -- and the pizza is so good. There are a few logistical challenges when it comes to ordering pizza, so it would be great if the website made the ordering process a bit easier. They also offer delicious packaged cookies to take home. We absolutely love sitting on their outdoor patio, enjoying a cup of coffee with a buttery, flaky, and delightful croissant. (I don't think they have gluten-free options, though...) read more

I wanted to like this place so much, but it honestly felt like a waste of money. I don't understand the hype.My sandwich was hard as a rock, it hurt my teeth to bite into it. I also ordered a vanilla latte half sweet. I literally could make a pot of coffee and just throw ice on it which felt like this is what they did. For the price it's very disappointing. As they were making my drink I noticed they filled my cup with ice and I kindly asked her to do light ice and she mentioned that if we did that the drink wouldn't be a full drink... not sure why since I'm paying for a full coffee. Usually if you order a large coffee the standard is 2 shots of espresso I asked how many shots were in it and she said one. Won't be coming back and wouldn't ever recommend to anyone read more

This is such an amazing place! I was looking for a delicious bread for a long time and finally I found this place. The bread is fresh, tasty, simple, no preservatives. Great variety, stores well in the freezer. The viennoiseries are a combination of classic and unique, and amazing: you have to try their fig bar! Do not try their almond and chocolate croissant though, please. Otherwise they will ran out and I won't be able to get mine. I compared their regular butter croissant with other "French" ones, and this one wins by a huge margin: airy, fluffy, just enough sweetness. They recently expanded in their main location, now you can get a sandwich, coffee and pizza. They also collaborate with other local vendors and you can find some unique items in their fridge. The vibe is so cool too. Friendly, chill, California style. Highly recommend this place, or their other locations. read more

Prager's is the local gold standard for all things bread. We stop in at least weekly to stock up on my family's favorite pizza dough, baguette, and croissants. Prager's is so consistent! It's always good, all the time. They're a well oiled machine when it comes for churning out flaky goodness. Plus my kids enjoy watching the bakers & their process during morning visits. Prager's is our go-to gift for teachers, friends, or potlucks. Grateful to have such a nice bakery so close by! read more

I like this place, and I like much of what they sell. I am a big fan of the fruit galettes, the danish rolls, the morning buns, the butter croissants, the sourdough bread, and the baguettes. I have not developed a taste for their flatbreads, oddly flavored breads like olive or spelt, their sandwiches, or their bagels. Their carrot cake, when they have it, is delightful. Their sandwich bread is a waste of money; bread from the grocery store is fresher and makes better sandwiches. I've tried the sandwich bread twice (both times on days they make it) and both times I've dumped it into my compost bin after a few bites. I have never managed to finish eating a Prager Brothers cookie (too dry) and never managed to get down more than one bite of their cardamom knot. So I don't buy those. Their list of products is huge. I know which ones I like, and I buy them regularly; I know which ones I don't like, and I don't buy them. I guess you need skills to be a customer here. I wish I didn't like their epi baguettes so much, because when I buy one, I eat too much of it. read more

I have a pizza oven at the community I just moved to and was looking for pizza dough. I found Prager Brothers and stopped in. They have the dough already formed and packaged right at the front counter. I was having friends over to make pizza. It turned out so well! This will be my go to spot. I also want to go back and try some of their fresh baked goods. read more

The crumb on their sourdough is what I hope to achieve whenever I bake sourdough! Their country sourdough didn't even last to the end of the week because I kept treating myself to a slice. Their sausage croissant was reminiscent of a sausage roll I had in Australia. The croissant stayed flakey and buttery with flavorful ground meat inside. I also enjoyed their homemade mustard on their sandwich! Overall, delicious bakery and I'd probably go back to try some of their sweet treats since their savory stuff were all good. read more

So happy for this wonderful business to have the opportunity to expand their Carlsbad location to a bigger storefront layout. Same location, but just bigger! I tried the Turkey Chimchurri Sandwich for breakfast with my usual coffee drink, a Honey Oat Milk Latte. My friend got a Mocha with a side of Espresso. We both enjoyed our beverages. I loved my sandwich. I also got a country sourdough loaf. Service is always friendly here! read more

This is a hidden gem! I was greeted at door which was in industrial area and a bit tricky to find. I was happy to meet friends and sit outside (only seating) with my pup and drink coffee and eat fresh pastries which were delicious. There was a lovely view across the street and soon a musician arrived w a guitar and played some lovely jazz. I understand music is only on Sunday. One of my friends was on way to airport and got a sandwich for the trip. I also saw a handful of salads in the cooler. Choices changed quickly as best choices were earlier in the morning. I got there at 9 when things started getting busier. I had a latte with yummy cheese danish. A gentleman next to us had a pizza so basically known for all things made of dough. read more

Prager Brothers is just one of those places that never disappoints. Their bread is truly fantastic -- you can tell it's made with care, and everything always tastes fresh and high quality. I also have to mention their croissants, which are excellent. I love all of their locations. The Carlsbad spot has a slightly more extensive menu -- especially with the pizzas -- but the Encinitas location is just as good and always worth the stop. My personal favorites are the ham and gruyère baguette and the Pizza Florentine, and their cookies are dangerously good. And if you're a coffee person, you'll be happy here -- their espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos are consistently great. It's simply a gem of a local spot for really good bread, coffee, and casual bites. read more

In a word... delicious! Every pastry and every loaf of bread we bought was perfect. Had to drive 22 mins to get there and it was worth it. I've tried to support this place as a local business, but this crossed the line. I paid $10.75 for a turkey sandwich and the turkey portion was so small I weighed it myself: 1.9 ounces. That is not a fair portion for that price. What makes it worse is that the same sandwich was listed at $6 in 2021. So now customers are paying about 79% more and apparently getting a sandwich with barely any turkey on it. That is not "artisan." That is taking advantage of people who trust they're getting fair value. I don't mind paying more when the quality and portion match the price. Here, they didn't. People should know what they're actually getting before they spend their money. For me, this was enough. I won't be back. read more

my bread was stale and today and i was extremely disappointed in the hospitality which says everything about a business-

People served cake and I went for another slice of Prager bread instead. Yes it's THAT delicious!!!!!!!! read more

Wanted to try something new for coffee. Give an independent a try. Website said they were open until 6. Went there, people all around. Wanted an Americano. My review is the mean of the parts: ***** (5) for the food - best croissants in San Diego (and I'm from Montreal!) *** (3) for the customer service - I often feel like the staff is doing me a favor - like Praeger Bros is so good, I'm lucky to score a purchase ***** (5) ease of online ordering *** (3) Not having my order ready, after waiting 10 minutes in line only to be told that oops, the pick up for the bakery is next door. I am so disappointed in you turning the best bread I ever had in the United States into the typical white, Pillsbury flour bread. Your epi bread used to be epic and now joins the ranks of nondescript supermarket breads. What a shame. We drove 60 miles to buy 6 Epi loaves at your Encinitas store for a party not knowing that you change the recipe since our last visit two weeks ago. This is no longer artisan bread . Taste like you changed to commercial frozen dough. Be sure to change your bag labels from Artisan to Artless. read more

Have tried a few sandwiches here so far. The turkey chimichurri sandwich is decent. Thought it was a little bland and wasn't a fan of the chimichurri. The Spicy Italian sandwich was pretty good. It hasn't been consistent though. Some days I really enjoy it and other days it seems to be lacking in ingredients. Some fine tuning in the preparation would be appreciated. The staff are friendly and we've always been able to easily find parking in this plaza. There is a sister restaurant right next door that makes pizza to check out. I wasn't a fan, but it seems to garner a good number of customers. read more

Prager is in an industrial area. It has a bakery side and a restaurant side. I wished they had more sweet baked goods. I got the Almond and plain croissant. The almond croissant was hard on the edges bit soft on the inside. Perhaps it had been sitting out a bit. The filling of almond paste was tasty. I also got a pre cut loaf off country sourdough bread. The bread was good. It was spongy with a definite taste of sourdough. Service was friendly and helpful. The bakery had indoor seating. You can even watch them make the bread through a large window. read more
