Had such wonderful service here! Every barista we interacted with were so welcoming and kind. Although they are busy, we could still find some seating on the patio and our drinks came out quickly. I came here specifically for matcha but luckily my husband had a latte so we could try both. I absolutely loved my matcha as it was delicious and refreshing. My husband and I also both enjoyed his salted caramel latte. Perfect balance of light sweetness to delicious coffee. Very cute coffee shop!! I stopped by here one morning to grab some coffee before heading to run some errands. The line was a little long but it was with the wait. I got a vanilla latte and lemon cookie, which was TO DIE FOR! It's an indoor/outdoor coffee shop, which is pretty chill when the weathers nice. I like that they offer WiFi but I couldn't find any outlets to charge my phone (could've just been where I was sitting). Parking wasn't the greatest though. It's on a busy street with lots of other shops and stores in the area so you have to circle around a few times to find parking. All in all, I enjoyed it there. Will be back for sure! read more

Love going to Carlsbad and decided to try a new coffee shop. I had the Turkish latte and a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich. The sandwich was delicious. They added some jam which added a sweet element that worked well. The service was quite odd, from the lack of being able to do a regular matcha without mint, to the shutting of the sliding glass door as I was waiting for my friend inside, it was not a friendly place. We got two of the teas, both okay but has some sweet additive that is not normal when ordering a tea. Was super excited to try this place as the photos looked good, but I sadly hated my matcha latte and we all thought it just tasted like almonds and nothing else. This was a huge bummer considering how expensive their drinks are and I ordered it the way they have it on the menu. However the food was great. I got the turkey croissant sandwich and it was quite good. Their prices are steep considering what you get, I think my sandwich and matcha latte were $23 and just my boyfriend's drink was $9 which was insane to me. I couldn't see myself wanting to come back considering the price and quality of drinks but the workers were very kind. They were super chatty and all of our food came out within 15 minutes or so. I would just readjust the matcha latte to make it taste authentic or mention it just tastes of almond milk, since it missed the mark on what Japanese matcha lattes should taste like, even if using almond milk. read more

Lofty is a local staple that everyone should experience! I've been drinking Lofty coffee since 2011 when they opened their first location and I'm glad they've expanded. They serve up craft coffee, espresso and tea, complemented by a delicious selection of pastries, cookies and a small seasonal selection of light breakfast and lunch options. They're espresso is great, but try the Turkish Latte if you're looking for something a little more unique. The Aztec Mocha is also good if you like a little spice in your drink. They also offer great croissant sandwiches and avocado toast options. I love the Toasted Quickie: avocado toast with olive oil, balsamic glaze and maldon sea salt! The ambience varies by location, but they're all enjoyable. The staff is also friendly and generous when it comes to making recommendations. Some people think they're prices are too high which is somewhat understandable. I do think it's partially due to the high quality ingredients that are used to make their food and beverages. In summary, Lofty has my vote! Try it out for yourself. Yes it may look modern and kinda cute and the coffee isn't "that" bad but unless you need a good matcha or a croissant I highly recommend going across the street to another organic coffee shop. Two coffees came out to $22 and I'm a high priced coffee drinker but even for me that's absolutely absurd. When they sold from a sole ownership to a larger company their staff (who were a phenomenal bunch) left and now they are filled with a bunch of snobby unaware kids (mind you I'm very early 30s). Along with the rotation of staff the love of the barista art complete disappeared with it making guess what- the coffee now not near worth the price tag. I was a 2x a day daily customer here in 2023 and since have been trying to love it again on occasions but after today I officially will not support them anymore. The taste, vibe, and prices are a little too out of wack for me. read more

The tables are close enough together that all we could really hear was the sound of a person on their laptop getting work done and the friends at a table behind us catching up on the last five years of their life. Food = Just okay - the prices are so unbelievably exorbitant that you desire better taste and it just doesn't serve Service - SLOW. There was one cashier and only one party in front of us when we arrived - we still waited almost ten minutes to order. After ordering we waited about 15-20 minutes for our food. On top of the wait, our food came out in waves. Seems as though they need more employees and a larger kitchen If you're looking for good coffee and food, give it a try, just apply for a second full time job while you wait for your food so you can pay your credit card bill. read more

If I were to pick out anything as my go-to, I would say the Turkish coffee with oat milk is to die for. Dog friendly location (water bowls are present!) here with free Wi-Fi. Great staff always offering suggestions and listening to your tastes. Love the outdoor open air atmosphere with plenty of bar space, tables, and meeting room here both on the patio and sidewalk adjacent. If I had one gripe about being here it might be the chairs. Being a bigger guy, these were pretty uncomfortable to sit in. Obviously the furniture has to weather being outside here at lofty and there's always the potential for furniture being stolen... So I understand the choices here with no padding and hard poly material But being a bigger guy and really having to squeeze my thighs into these was really not pleasant being here for a couple hours. With that, if I could make a suggestion to Lofty it's to purchase chairs without arm rests... Maybe even just a quarter or half your chair selection so there are options! Lofty Coffee is that spot, the one I keep coming back to because the drinks are just on a different level. I always get stuck deciding between the Aztec mocha and the Turkish latte because they're both incredible. Nowhere else in town has flavor lattes like this, bold, unique, and not overly sweets The Aztec mocha especially hits in the colder months, the kick of spice makes it feel warm and cozy in the best way. And the chai tea latte? That's my comfort drink. Any time I'm feeling sad I go get it and it feels like a warm, comforting hug in a cup. On top of all that, their food is fresh and actually good, plenty of vegetarian options too. It's one of the few places where the drinks and food are equally strong. We have been steady customers of Lofty since they opened several years ago but sadly yesterday was our last visit. They cannot make a hot cup of coffee! We always ask if they can please make it extra hot but they take it out of a carafe and serve it. The same with their hot water. If there's one thing coffee lovers can't stand is drinking only a half cup because the bottom half is cold. If you want a perfect cup of coffee served hot go to Starbucks. read more
