I really wanted to enjoy this French bakery, but the overall service was slow, not customer oriented and the products were unsatisfactory. I ordered an Americano coffee and asked for a squirt of chocolate syrup and milk. But they didn't listen and just served me a black coffee. I ordered the tomato quiche but it was served cold and eggs were runny. I had to ask for my coffee to be made right and had to send the quiche back to be cooked. Le Rendez Vous is not worth anyone's money because the staff doesn't follow through to get orders correct, they don't listen to customers and don't seem to care at all. The staff does not seem to know how to run a restaurant but I won't be going back. read more

They make a Challah style bread loaf that is light and airy inside with a nice color and texture outside. Almost like a croissant but not flaky. I discovered them at their booth in the Vista farmers market but they have a little shop on Oceanside Blvd. I also tried their beignets but they're not super special. At least they have them though. Popped in to get a quick bite. No line so thought it would be fast. Ordered a slice of quiche even though staff informed me it would take 15 minutes to warm up. Also ordered a croissant and orange juice hoping to get it upon paying. However another customer came in and ordered and staff did not provide us with our orange juice and croissant until after helping the next customer with their order. I've been here twice recently. The first time was a great experience. I really only wanted a cappuccino, but after seeing how nice the pastries looked, I figured the family and I would try some. We had creme brulee, a couple beignets, and the cappuccino. I was not disappointed. My family loved it and the coffee was great! This time around, I came back for the coffee and ended up grabbing a slice of mousse cake that was better than I could describe. On top of that, the best part was the person at the register. Great place to work/study! Ambiance: I stopped here because I needed a quiet place to take a meeting with my boss in a pinch, and I'm so glad that I did. It was a Thursday at ~4:45pm so I was the only one in there save for a couple ppl who came in quickly. They also didn't have any music playing so it was just calm white noise from the fridge and other machines. Honestly this was actually ideal, the loud music chain coffee shops/bakeries always play are too overstimulating and I prefer to listen to my own music anyways. Lots of tables and they had two outlets on either side of the place for a computer. The decor was giving older vibes but it felt more homey that way. Service: There was one gal working at the front at the time and she was very nice! No complaints lol :) Food: I got a double shot iced latte and the bread pudding. Latte was standard, good. One thing I wish this place and other small cafes had was more non-dairy options other than almond milk (oat milk or just lactose free even). But I kinda get it since it's a small business so it's not that big of a deal. They also unfortunately didn't have vanilla syrup or simple syrup, but they did have a bunch of interesting flavored syrups like lavender, rose, etc... which I thought was interesting (it's possible they were just out and it was the end of the day). Sugar packets + iced coffee never really works lol. But another very minor detail that often comes with smaller businesses. I thought the bread pudding was good, and it was even the last one they had. Very eggy which I personally prefer. Everything was a bit pricey but as the sign by the cashier front explains, it's more expensive than usual as a result of the hike in egg prices, which is very valid. Can't imagine being a small bakery during that so we gotta give them some grace. Overall this was a great spot if you're looking for something chill. read more

A very cute, quaint and charming bakery. I have always had a huge obsession with Paris and the idea of going and visiting. The Owner is such a wonderful gentleman and the young lady who assisted with taking my order was very sweet. We went here right at closing. Not too many items left but we did try an almond chocolate croissant, and another pastry that tasted like a beignet donut (can't remember the name). Both were really good, especially the almond chocolate croissant. I never had anything like the almond chocolate croissant before. It was stuffed with so much filling, and had a nice flaky layers. There was also some nice carmelization on the outside. I would drive here again just for this pastry. The person working at the front was very friendly, and (I presume) French since she was speaking French to someone in the back. Definitely coming back here! Popped in for breakfast as the name sounded a bit fancy and was in the mood for fancy pastry. I had read good reviews about their cronuts (Croissant/Donut) and wanted to try it. The place was empty when I walked in. The cronuts were not ready and they said it was still being prepared. It was about 9:30am. I settled for a croissant and a tea. The croissant was okay not exceptional. I should have asked them to warm it up. There was not much selection on tea.... it was either black or green tea. They could add revenue by offering more varieties of tea like example herbal teas to go with their pastries. I asked for the green tea and it came in a humongous mug! I see what the other reviews mean about the attitude of the staff. After eating my croissant and drinking my tea, I asked when the cronuts would be ready. The way and attitude of how the female at the counter answered, it was like as if they were doing me a BIG favor to buy their precious cronut. I could have just said never mind but I really wanted to try it and it was not ready yet so I went grocery shopping at Aldi next door and came back about 30 mins later. I purchased a couple of the cronuts (they spell it Croxnut). Surprisingly, it was not warm for just having been prepared. Long story short, it was delicious and scrumptious! The Le Rendez-Vous French Bakery has a stand at the San Marcos Farmers Market. We ordered a loaf of Blue Cheese Sourdough Bread, Olive Bread, a Blueberry Croissant, and Cream Brûlée dessert. Best bread I have ever had! Love the croissant and cream brûlée! The owners are so nice, excellent service! Next time, will take more photos of all the breads. I was craving pain au chocolat so badly this morning and kept flipping a mental coin on petite Madeline and this place. Reading the recent reviews for this one I was pretty apprehensive but decided to give it a try, and I am so glad I did. I'm not sure if anyone has made 'chocolate croissants' before or they're just going off of Starbucks' version... but they are time consuming to make and the chocolate to croissant ratio is hard hard hard to get right. To my tastebuds the ones here are divine. Perfect flaky yummy baked outside, soft, airy inside. JUST enough chocolate for me without being overwhelmingly sweet or attacking my face with chocolate overflow. I mean deliciousssss. I was a bit sad because they were out of fresh bread (the owner said they were making another batch for this afternoon but I didn't want to wait) They sell their bread at the Vista Farmers market and Oceanside Market and I will definitely be stopping by. Sometimes other people's reviews of a place can leave you doubtful and they end up being correct, sometimes their reviews leave you doubtful and you end up pleasantly surprised. I'd rather drive to Petite Madeleine by the beach for pastries, or even Prager Brothers in Carlsbad, or Parlor Doughnuts (they specialize in cronuts!) if I want a treat. Besides a lack of ambience, tepid service, poor selection (I always come early in the day!) and when there was dine-in available, the cheap flimsy paper plates, they served me a stale, burnt cronut. Also, the macarons are both ugly and a waste of money from here. I know they have a booth at the Vista Farmers Market, where they highlight their breads but that doesn't interest me. Because we do not eat a lot of baked goods I do not go there on a weekly basis. But their baked goods are the one of the best outside of Europe. Saying that after going there many years and ordering for special occasions, I have been left in a quandary and will not go there again. This Christmas I ordered a special dessert which was supposed to be a ring of their large cream puffs on top of a pastry case and it was supposed to be festive. (now I regret not taking a picture ). Instead I got five very mini cream puffs separated with a huge amount of cream and strawberries, which my child is allergic to. The baker was unapologetic, did not offer any solution except adding another mini puff in the center if I waited 40 minutes (there were plenty in the counter she could have used bearing in mind they were closing for Christmas within 40 minutes !!!). I ordered 2 baguettes to pick up the day after christmas. I asked if I could change the order to one as my guests had cancelled and use the difference as credit toward 4 cream puffs and some other pastries and I was flatly told no. Now the credit would have been about 4 dollars, and I was about to purchase around 30 dollars of products. I had to throw away the Christmas dessert the base was too hard, the mini puffs very chewy and the cream tasted artificial, I have never had such a horrible product from them before!!! a waste of 30 dollars (and for a very small tart) On reflection, there are many French patisseries opening in the area, and for now I will travel further. read more

Open during COVID19. Was working in the area and upon a Yelp search, I needed a good pastry and coffee to jumpstart my day. What was charming about this place was the friendly Vietnamese lady with a slight French accent. Unfortunately both the coffee and croissant did not satisfy. As shown by the photos, there was barely any chocolate in the pain au chocolat. Moreover, the pastry was not buttery! I cannot tolerate gluten but sometimes I risk the consequences for a good pain au chocolat. A pity I had my stomach symptoms and the pastry was subpar. The coffee was horrible. I saw her freshly prepare the shots of espresso for my latte, but it must be the espresso beans that this bakery uses. However, the lady is pleasant. So I may give them a second chance. read more

I have been coming here for years and also go to them at the Carlsbad Farmer's Market on Weds. I come for two things: Their french baguettes are the absolute best- crisp on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice texture and flavor. They do not put in plastic wrap which messes it up-only paper-they freeze well too. They only make this fabulous ciabbata bread for the Carlsbad Farmers Market. Kept secret! I do not know why. I have wanted to keep them a secret for so long, but I want them to stick around so I can order their delicious baguettes, beignets, cream puffs, crêpes, croissants, and so much more! They even do my annual custom orders for Christmas! They are legit French! I have not found a true French bakery in all of San Diego county yet. The pastry side was not flaky at all rather it seem to be more of a bread filling with not much flavor. I ended up only having a few bites of them and then discarding them. This was our first time there. How cute and everything was so beautiful, we ordered multiple things. The cheddar jalapeño croissant was amazing and my husband really enjoyed his berry cheesecake. There was a young man working, he's in the photos.. he was very sweet and you can tell his mama raised a good kid.
