Andrew was fantastic. We celebrated our anniversary here and were warmly greeted. We promptly were sat and always had everything we needed. Andrew gave us fantastic recommendations and was so kind. Little Fawn is a relatively new restaurant in the Fin Hotel. It's relatively small and cozy in the restaurant but there are a few tables in the hotel lobby that were less cozy. I'd recommend requesting a table in the restaurant or at the cool bar. Started with a couple glasses of wine. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating and allowed us to taste the wines before ordering. Nice touch! The wine was served at the proper temperature and was fresh. We shared the Arugula Fennel salad and it was delicious. For mains we ordered the Green Chile Wagyu Burger and the Branzino. The branzino was excellently prepared in a Mediterranean style and perhaps the best I've ever had. The burger had promise but was served on a very soft roll and became disassembled as I tried to slice through it. Was hard to taste the ingredients in a single bite like a burger should be. I would have recommended that it be served on a stiffer roll like a brioche. With the exception of the burger, this is a five-star experience. Would highly recommend it. read more

The service here is wonderful, I came in last night for a glass of wine and even though they were closed they still served me a glass and a second to take to my room after. This morning I came down for breakfast, the server was a happy beam of sunshine. She brought me coffee, and I relaxed for a bit. I then ordered some he steak and eggs. Delicious meal here at what used to be the Switchboard, in the Fin Hotel. I was meeting a friend from the OC and we needed a place to meet in the middle. This place opened not long ago, and we decided to give it a try. Paige was a great server, just like other folks on Yelp said. The menu is not huge, but there are options for vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores. And everything we ordered was yummy! The kitchen was may be a little slow, but we were comfy on the patio and did not mind. Butternut squash: you want this! Not like every other butternut squash, giant unctuously soft chunks, in a really savory honey Greek yogurt and salsa matcha sauce. Roasted carrots: harissa honey, pistachio, mint. YUM. Branzino: not served with any carbs (I would have had to order bread). But a big giant piece of perfectly cooked fish, in olive oil with olives and roasted tomatoes. Are you hungry yet? My friend got the beef cheek pomodoro. She said that it might have a little too much oil, but that it was delicious. They don't have a big online presence yet, but I'm so glad we decided to come here instead of going elsewhere in Oceanside (you can find the menu on their instagram or in the photos I posted). Easy parking on the street in front of the restaurant/hotel, and very creative and tasty Mediterranean inspired food. And the cocktails were delicious too (I got the mai tai, a classic made without orange juice or pineapple. She got The Old Fawn, one of their Old Fashioned type of drinks). I love this setting the service, the quality of food, and I remember loving the potatoes. For some reason I think the way they were cut and prepared and their flavor was not typical and very enjoyable. I also remember the plate that it was served on, and the silverware went nicely with the overall look of the plate when it was served.. of course the eggs were hot and cooked very nicely the way they should be. We started with coffee that was outstanding and ended up having an Irish one from the elegant bar too. This review is making me want to visit soon. read more

We decided to make our first visit to Little Fawn to try a few specific dishes that we'd heard about. The roasted butternut squash and the mussels lived up to the hype - both were amazing. The steak frites was good, but not great. We asked for medium rare, which is important for a hanger steak so it isn't too tough - but received medium well. To be fair, we did not point this out to our server. As a prime cut steak, however, it was still good, especially with the accompanying sauce. But probably not worth what we paid. Finally, we ended with the chocolate mousse. It was tasty but a bit dense, and served with a full sized spoon that seemed way too big for the accompanying cup. A smaller spoon would be better for that dish. All of that said, the service was fantastic and the decor maintains the charm that spot has always been known for. So, we'll be back again and are looking forward to it. read more

I would say this is a solid place to have dinner and some drinks. They were a little discombobulated... we had reservations and they weren't ready for us! We waited about 15 minutes. No biggie. Once we placed our order, they also let us know that all of our food wouldn't come out at the same time because "that's just how they do it" it's not a tapas bar so not sure why "that's just how they do it" but fair enough thanks for the warning! Overall, our meals were yummy, and I appreciated the fact that they marked gluten-free items on the menu! The ambience is nice. It was a crazy busy Saturday night when my wife and I visited. The owner, short staffed, had to turn away a few groups (which you could see was painful for him). Our party of three had just ordered our second round of drinks when the owner approached us and -- without any grace, tact, or basic courtesy -- essentially told us to leave to accommodate another reservation. No apology, no warning, no "we're so sorry to rush you." Just a blunt and frankly rude dismissal. There is a way to manage table turnover while still making guests feel valued. This was not it. As a new business trying to earn the loyalty of locals, this kind of treatment is not only off-putting -- it's counterproductive. We genuinely wanted to love this place and support a new local spot. We had an absolutely incredible experience celebrating my wife's birthday at Little Fawn. I initially had a reservation for 4, but about three hours prior, I decided to try my luck and see if we could expand our party to 7. I stopped by the restaurant and was met by Paige, who checked with the team and miraculously made it happen. That level of flexibility set the tone for the night. We knew that with a place this popular, there might be a slight wait for food, but the amazing company and the vibrant atmosphere made it fly by. A huge part of that was Paige's excellent service. Jon and Seth were awesome as well, but Paige truly went above and beyond to make the night special. And the food? We wanted to try a few things on the menu so we ended up ordering the Caesar salad, butternut squash, meatballs and the beef cheek pasta. Every single dish was incredible!! I think I'm going to feast on the meatballs and butternut squash regularly - squash is my favorite vegetable but this took it to another level - just amazing!!
