We came to Little Fawn for our anniversary and had such a lovely experience! The bar area is beautiful with a really cool ambiance. It's a smaller space, but I actually think that adds to the intimate atmosphere and makes it feel even more special. We ordered the Wagyu burger and the steak frites, and the steak was cooked to perfection. I will say that the portions looked a little larger online than they were in person, but given the quality of the food and the overall experience, I wasn't disappointed. Everything we had was delicious, and I'd definitely come back to try some of their seafood options. The highlight of the night, though, was absolutely the cocktails. They were so enjoyable and you could tell they were thoughtfully made with a lot of care. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Little Fawn for a more intimate and romantic experience with great food, beautifully crafted drinks, and a really nice atmosphere. For a small restaurant attached to the Fin Hotel, this place has a fabulous hangar steak and eggs breakfast with home style potatoes. Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. Potatoes just a little too greasy for my taste. Coffee was not as good, hence the four stars. Service is great and location is cute and intimate with a full bar. I have been here for both brunch and dinner and both times they were so good. we stayed at seabird resort, and little fawn was about a 10 minute walk so super convenient if you're staying downtown. dinner was honestly incredible. the heirloom tomato was a fave. such a light and refreshing dish that's the perfect pair to something like the steak and frites which were also delicious but could feel a bit heavy. the charred broccolini absolutely slapped lol. the curry aioli was so subtle but yet made such a strong impact. the branzino, while was also good, was my least favorite. solely because for whatever reason, i could not get a bit of the fish without chewing on bones. it was clearly a me issue, because my gf's had zero issues with it. whipped feta with grilled sourdough. i mean how can you go wrong? you can't. also delicious. for lunch, we got the avocado toast, shakshuka and cripsy chicken sandwich. all 3 were solid, but the tomatoes on the avocado toast absolutely stole the show for me. it's clear little fawn takes their vegetables serious and i freaking love them for that. i will 100% be visiting again if i'm in oceanside! read more

Went to Little Fawn last night with a friend and I'm not exaggerating when I say I woke up this morning still thinking about the food... so much so that I'm going back tonight with another friend. We had the kale salad, ahi crudo and chicken skewers and every single plate was a 10/10. The food was fresh, flavorful and genuinely melt-in-your-mouth good. Not one thing missed. The service was just as amazing. Robyn our bartender made me one of the best espresso martinis I've had (another 10/10 ), and after my friend started with a blonde ale, she recommended a white wine that paired perfectly with our meal. Tom was also fantastic super attentive, speedy and really knowledgeable about the menu. And THE VIBES. Little Fawn is intimate and quaint with dim lighting, jazz playing and this gorgeous modern, sultry, Art Deco feel. It feels elevated without being stuffy. Such a good spot for a date night, cocktails and small plates, or dinner with your girlfriends. Needless to say, when a restaurant is good enough to make you come back two nights in a row... 5 stars. We came here for a girls night. It looked small from the outside but has another part to the right of it. To start I ordered their NY sour and it wasn't bad, it looked good and had the flavors. We skipped appetizers and just decided to do 3 entrees and share. We got their steak frites, mushroom pappardelle and the branzino. They had everything but said they had to prep the branzino which took like 20 minutes, which wasn't bad. For the steak frites, we ordered it medium rare and it just came out pretty medium, more on done side. It had good flavors but overly salted. Fries were crunchy but salty as well. As for the mushroom pappardelle, it was good except the pasta was severely doughy and undercooked. It wasn't even al dente, it was dough. The mushroom and sauce were pretty salty as well. The dish we liked most was the sea bass. It had a good amount of salt, which you always need in fish. Flavors were there. My friend found a couple bones, so just an FYI. Food could be a little less salty, don't overcook the steak and cook the pasta more. I think the chef was just too generous on the salt that night. Overall, Little Fawn had potential, good flavors but just many "little flaws" here and there. read more

Excellent return visit. They are SO friendly here. I'd say 5 stars for the patio, 5 stars for the service, and then a little lower for what I ordered this time, but no prob! They have a seasonal squash dish to replace the JUSTLY FAMOUS butternut squash one. It was good, but didn't slap the same way. I'd still order it again! I got the fish again, which is delicious and huge. They didn't have the Mai Tai cocktail anymore, so I tried the one called The Owner Likes This One. I do like amaro based cocktails but this one tasted a little extra medicinal. I'd get something different next time. But I still liked the squash and fish, and the cocktail was worth trying even if not my favorite. And the vibes are immaculate here! read more

Great little date night spot. We were told by friends to try this spot. Young servers that helped us order some of the favorites. The cocktails were the highlight. The food is very good however the portions are extremely small for the price. We ordered the shrimp for example and there were 4 shrimp for the price of a higher end entree. I wasn't expecting large portions necessarily but ordering an appetizer with 2 entrees and leaving hungry when we don't eat much in our everyday lives , not ideal. The service here is wonderful, I came in last night for a glass of wine and even though they were closed they still served me a glass and a second to take to my room after. This morning I came down for breakfast, the server was a happy beam of sunshine. She brought me coffee, and I relaxed for a bit. I then ordered some he steak and eggs. I wanted so much for Little Fawn to do well. I'm in Oceanside two mornings a week and have breakfast there. I loved the Switchboard and was a regular. I've tried Little Fawn several times and am now ready to take them off my list. I'm usually the only one in the restaurant and yet they want to seat me where I can't get direct sunlight in order to read. The food is expensive, which I'm use to yet the last visit I was gouged even more. So sorry they didn't work out. read more

Little Fawn is a relatively new restaurant in the Fin Hotel. It's relatively small and cozy in the restaurant but there are a few tables in the hotel lobby that were less cozy. I'd recommend requesting a table in the restaurant or at the cool bar. Started with a couple glasses of wine. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating and allowed us to taste the wines before ordering. Nice touch! The wine was served at the proper temperature and was fresh. We shared the Arugula Fennel salad and it was delicious. For mains we ordered the Green Chile Wagyu Burger and the Branzino. The branzino was excellently prepared in a Mediterranean style and perhaps the best I've ever had. The burger had promise but was served on a very soft roll and became disassembled as I tried to slice through it. Was hard to taste the ingredients in a single bite like a burger should be. I would have recommended that it be served on a stiffer roll like a brioche. With the exception of the burger, this is a five-star experience. Would highly recommend it. read more

We decided to make our first visit to Little Fawn to try a few specific dishes that we'd heard about. The roasted butternut squash and the mussels lived up to the hype - both were amazing. The steak frites was good, but not great. We asked for medium rare, which is important for a hanger steak so it isn't too tough - but received medium well. To be fair, we did not point this out to our server. As a prime cut steak, however, it was still good, especially with the accompanying sauce. But probably not worth what we paid. Finally, we ended with the chocolate mousse. It was tasty but a bit dense, and served with a full sized spoon that seemed way too big for the accompanying cup. A smaller spoon would be better for that dish. All of that said, the service was fantastic and the decor maintains the charm that spot has always been known for. So, we'll be back again and are looking forward to it. read more

Oh YELP reviewers I feel you've failed me. Came to Oceanside to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. Looked up "romantic restaurants" and this was HIGH on the list. Excited to try it and a short walk from where we were staying. Arrived and the music (hip hop) was BOOMING. Between the music and people trying to talk over the music it was crazy loud. No real atmosphere. We ordered a glass of sparkling (our anniversary) and the ceasar salad to split. The salad was, perhaps, one of the best I've ever had and hubby agrees. We ate every bit and it was a generous bit. Hubby had the lamb chops and loved them. Would order again. I had the burger. It came out way after hubbys lamb (they do disclose on menu that food will come as it's ready) but it felt awkward. The burger was good - gooey and messy and the house made pickles were vinegary and spicy. Hubby finished before me (obvy) and asked for the check so they awkwardly took my plate (I was 3 bites in) and put into a go box and brought the check and that's a wrap! The waiter who brought the check asked how everything was and I said "not great and it's our anniversary@ (I had also noted that on open table) so he offered a cheesecake to go. I would say this is a solid place to have dinner and some drinks. They were a little discombobulated... we had reservations and they weren't ready for us! We waited about 15 minutes. No biggie. Once we placed our order, they also let us know that all of our food wouldn't come out at the same time because "that's just how they do it" it's not a tapas bar so not sure why "that's just how they do it" but fair enough thanks for the warning! Overall, our meals were yummy, and I appreciated the fact that they marked gluten-free items on the menu! The ambience is nice. Our waiter didn't ever really check on us, but thankfully, the bus boy who is working his butt off made sure we had everything we needed! Forgot to take photos of all food. Having been to their Echale location in Encinitas, Little Fawn truly delivers on another level! It's ideally positioned in Oceanside and is perfect for walking around downtown afterwards . Second visit... and somehow even better than the first! My husband and I shared the whipped feta (I could have licked the plate!), the Caesar salad (the flavors were incredible), and the steak frites. I honestly don't think I'll ever order another entrée.
