Absolutely delicious! The food was incredible, and Austin, our incredibly hospitable waiter, recommended some of his favorite dishes. One of them was the chicken shawarma, and it was so good! We were able to grab a charming spot outside near their garden, where they actually grow some of the fresh ingredients used in the dishes. Such a cool touch! They also offered a variety of sauces, all of which were delicious. Even the habanero sauce was surprisingly approachable, full of flavor without being overly spicy. We go and do Restaurant Reviews & attend special events at The Plot quarterly with my groups San Diego Foodies and Carlsbad Foodies. This time around, it's just the family for Mother's Day. Since I know my food, the table let me order. Fresh hand cut thick long French Fries without a ton of seasoning or oil arrived: one with a cashew cheese truffle sauce, one with no salt, and one salted as requested. My daughter loved her reuben. I loved my blt. The two Caesar salads for the table disappeared quickly because their dressing is unbelievable! Let's see .... what didn't we eat is probably smarter than what did we eat. Beet ketchup, The C Word (braised cabbage), a couple of cronic sushi rolls, and there was a special lemon creme brûlée. Everyone enjoyed everything they ate, including my almost 3 year old grandson (they brought out a specially sliced fruit bowl for him). They offered many choices for kids, but he just wanted fruit. The Plot is THE restaurant to visit in Oceanside! I loved my time here and I highly recommend visiting to try out the food. They have a very unique concept of renewable farming and sustainable gardening. There's plenty of indoor seating (the interior is lovely) and outdoor seating that integrates with the garden. The garden is available for customers to walk around. It's amazing to see how they've efficiently grown so much in a limited space. The Plot also has $5 plants you can purchase for home-gardening. Their eggplants are in season. Freshly harvested from the garden, I tried the panko crusted charcoal roasted eggplant - it was beautiful, delicious, creative and everything wonderful packed into a dish. It was topped with a very unique, naturally salty plant called the asparagus of the sea (I've literally never had it anywhere else besides here). I also tried the c word (which is wine braised cabbage), the beet ruben sandwich, and the mushroom toast. Everything was SO GOOD! The service is also on another level. I have been wanting to check out The Plot for brunch with some friends and I am so glad we finally did. Everyone at the table was quite impressed with their food. Really cool vegan spot! I ordered the breakfast bowl and I really loved it. It was flavorful, filling, and felt fresh and balanced. It is definitely something I would order again. I also tried one of their sandwiches and it just was not my favorite. It was fine, just not as exciting as the other dishes we had. The meat substitute was quite mushy and had no texture nor much flavor. The mushroom coffee was surprisingly nice. It tasted more like hot chocolate than coffee. The pancakes were delightful and fluffy. We also ordered the french fries with the beet sauce and I really liked that combination. The sauce added something unique and tasty. I don't do too much vegan food, but The Plot was a pleasant surprise. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I went with the shakshuka and it was pretty good. It was very flavorful and the bread it was served with was also great. My wife got the breakfast bowl while everything tasted good, the flavors didn't seem to mesh very well. The Plot is such an awesome vegetarian restaurant. Fun fact it is the sister restaurant to Wrench & Rodent! I've come here a few times and everything has been a standout. My personal favorite has been the VG crunchwrap supreme it is sooooo good! I recently tried the coffee and have been dreaming about it too. This was my first time going here. A little spur of the moment as we looked for a local restaurant. The space is very cute and unique. Although that doesn't matter much if the food is over a priced or poor quality. Luckily the food was all fantastic. There wasn't a single item I didn't like, and since I got a preset fixed menu of five courses, I was able to taste a large variety. I even took a nibble from some shared appetizers for the table and my kids food. The kids were not a big fan, but that is kind of to be expected. I suspect that they were also just tired from a long day. I would absolutely go back the next time I am in town. The food was a little bit on the pricier side, but considering the quality of the ingredients and the uniqueness of the meals, it was well worth it. Our sister-in-law is vegan, and she found The Plot. I looked at the menu and knew it would be acceptable to my non-vegan family. It was more than that, it was fantastic! We sat outside, where we now know we could have brought our pooch, and had drinks and appetizers before dinner. While our teenage son was skeptical, he enjoyed the Devil Cräb Fritter and split the fries with us, while the rest of us split the Chronic Süshi Roll, panko eggplant, and bean tartine. They also served us a free süshi appetizer, which was unexpected! We all enjoyed Shepherds Pie, Sweet Potato Gnocchi, Meatless Loaf, Chïcken and Cornbread, and the farmer's Salad. I LOVE The Plot SO much! I previously went to their location in Costa Mesa for dinner, and had a great experience too. I believe Oceanside is their flagship location, and it was truly magical! When you pull up, you'll see a giant mural behind the building that is absolutely beautiful. Then, you'll notice all the fresh herbs and veggies they grow themselves. This is a true farm to table experience. I was really impressed by how large this location is inside as well as on their patio. Plus, I really enjoyed the decor and attention the detail. I ordered the panko crusted eggplant, and the carrotfish tacos. While the tacos were good, the eggplant was out of this world and filled with so much flavor. We finished off our lunch with the banana bread and wow...I want the recipe. The vanilla 'cream' - made with a coconut base was so creamy and delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better lunch. The service was great too. And, I love the fact that they do offer cooking classes, tasting menu nights, and more! I'm hoping they'll do a gardening class one day too. Super excited to write this review and would've felt guilty not to!!! My vegan friend suggested it, even though she has never been here before. I'm usually reluctant to try vegan restaurants because the food normally tend to taste like grass to me. When I saw my meal, I was pleasantly surprised by how appetizing everything looked! Very presentable. The Korean BBQ chicken looked nicely charred but juicy at the same time from the glaze. The portion was generous and the price was very reasonable. After I took one bite, I was in food heaven!! It tasted astonishingly BETTER than meat!!! Like a perfectly cooked chicken without the aftertaste of carcass. Textures were precisely so tender and moist on the inside, firm on the outside. Flavors were well balanced and savory. The salad was also perfect, lightly stir fried and slightly sweet and tangy. I ordered the Sweet & Shroomy coffee, which was creamy without actual dairy in it. Again, it does not taste like vegan!! I told my friend that if I were vegan, I would STALK the chef/chefs and move to wherever they go, LOL!! Everyone there was so friendly, warm, and welcoming. Tastefully decorated and pleasing atmosphere. There's a cute garden in the back. Highly recommend this exceptional establishment, worthy of a perfect 5+ STARS. They're the real deal. The food is high quality with decent portions and prices. I've tried at least 4-5 entrees and loved them all, but my favorite go-to is the carrot fish tacos. Everyone from my work swears by them as well. I'm not vegan, by the way, and neither are my coworkers (one is vegetarian). So this is coming from someone who is just fine eating meat and has no base need to avoid that. But I've been to The Plot quite a few times now, including for Valentine's Day. I love that they get some of their food from their own on-site garden. They also source locally for a lot of their other food. And they compost leftovers for the garden, which is something you can do more easily when all your food is plant-based. I've had a few different servers and they've all been very friendly professional. Everyone seems very relaxed and like they enjoy their work. The atmosphere itself is also very laid back and unpretentious, but classy. That's what makes it a great lunch spot, but also a fine date night. We had such a good experience at the costa mesa plot restaurant we wanted to try a different menu but felt the food was a bit off here. While everything was cooked very well, the seasoning just missed. We enjoyed the eggplant but the veggies were ultra salty. The scallops were interesting and broccolini was nice but some other flavors didnt meld together. The street corn was acidic. The kbbq texture was fine but the sauce didnt taste like bbq... seemed more like tamarind or something. I enjoy coming here and trying something new every time. Today at around 1 pm, it was not very busy and were seated right away. The seating arrangement is comfortable, but this was after we asked to sit at a bigger table than what they were assigning us. I don't understand why you would need to fill in every table if it means to sit a party of 2 in the middle of two parties when there are plenty of other tables. It's just a tad too close, you know? Too personal as far as listening to each other's convo. We split a patty melt and Korean chicken sandwich with fries, both from their regular menu. They also offered a seasonal menu; I ordered their apricot and peach soda from this. They both were very good. The patty melt was gooey with their own version of Swiss cheese. The chicken sando is their basic breaded tofu chicken but with a purple cabbage kimchi and a sauce that I couldn't really pick up on. My bf enjoyed all the flavors from the chicken sandwich. We enjoyed their French fries, but not so much the beet ketchup. I love beets, but I wasn't feeling it so much today so we took the uneaten fries home. read more

I was kindly handed a menu; a few items were suggested to me and I ultimately ordered the Medi bowl. The gyro bites within the dish were a nice touch. I like what they stand for sustainable and fresh local food. No waste. Leftovers thrown in for Compost for the garden. The whole restaurant was nicely decorated with a cozy elevated space feel and natural lighting throughout; the outside patio is next to the garden. The restrooms were clean and tidy. We've had the pleasure of dining at The Plot twice this week, once for dinner and once for brunch, and both experiences were truly wonderful. Every dish felt wholesome, nourishing, and thoughtfully prepared, with beautiful presentation that made each meal feel special. I am not vegan but work nearby and wanted to try the food. I ordered the O'side Crust Wrap and fries and really enjoyed my food! The wrap is a vegan version of the Taco Bell crunch wrap and I might prefer this over Taco Bell's! It's very fresh and flavorful. The Fries were a great mix or crispy and soft and came with what tasted like a beet sauce which was also really good! Never expected to like the combo but I definitely recommend it! Staff is really nice and helpful! I think Austin was the person that took my order, He was very speedy and nice! The place is also really cool! This was our fifth time dining at The Plot. The menu has not changed much over multiple visits, and we have now tried almost everything. While the food is consistently good even though the lack of menu variety is noticeable. On this visit, we ordered cashew burrata with chili crisp, poached pear, pickled walnuts, arugula, and the farmer's salad as appetizers, followed by the Okinawan sweet potato gnocchi and the chocolate tart. The food quality remains strong, and for a vegan restaurant, it ranks near the top. Unfortunately, the service needs improvement. While the servers were friendly and communicated with us via text--which we appreciate as Deaf diners--they lacked basic serving skills. We requested split plates and never received them. I reached out to the restaurant about my experience, and they were incredibly understanding and graciously invited me back to give it another try. The second time around--wow. Everything was amazing, and I'm already thinking about when I can come back! I had the matcha soda, the Caesar salad with tofu fried "chicken," and the plot cake, and every single dish was fantastic. Date night at The Plot was surprisingly good. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, I'm definitely a carnivore. I was a little skeptical about how our experience would go but that was just foolishness! Together we shared a couple of starters including the Scallops, the Burrata and Pear and the Panko Crusted Eggplant. All were outstanding and deeply flavorful. We also shared the Sweet Potato Gnocchi and again it was a fantastic blend of flavors and textures. We ended with the Orange Creme Brûlée and the Olive Oil Cake, both were memorable and left us wanting to take some home. We both left feeling full and very satisfied.
