The rooftop area isn't very large, but WOW, it's beautiful! You have a view of the beach, umbrellas, little chairs and couches, and just an overall relaxing vibe. It's such a nice place to hang out, enjoy the view, and grab something to eat or drink. We ordered the summer salad and a flatbread, although I can't remember the name of the flatbread. Both were actually very, very tasty! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the food. Everything came out quickly too. The view is really nice and one of kind to the area and the decor is chic and beachy. The Cali sandwich left much to be desired and the $3 upcharge for waffle fries that tasted like cardboard left me wondering why. The only dessert really is a chocolate fondue pot that comes with strawberries, salty (?) apples, canned (!!!!) pineapples and vanilla cookies. The price point was a little wild for that IMO ($20) but the chocolate was decent. I didn't try any beverages and there's only street parking if you're not staying at the hotel. We were interrupted by a loud "hey think we can go on the other side of the rope" by a food runner who could've 100% said it with a little less of a tone. It's the 1st day of Summer and I wanted to spend a lot of time outdoors soaking up the sunshine. What a perrrfect time to finally go to the Tower39 Rooftop Lounge! I wanted to go there for the longest especially for Happy Hour. When I got up there, I was amazed at the ocean views and pleasantly surprised it wasn't crowded during this beauuutiful late afternoon. I picked my spot to sit then stood in line while looking over the front-n-back menu. Everything sounded good but I wanted something fresssh and summery. The friendly staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in my decision to keep it Summer related. Not too long afterwards, my order came out. Looove the quick service! Both female bartenders were slaying it as soon as the line grew. It was niiice to see the world cup on the t.v. screen. I enjoyed watching it while I ate my yummy food and watched the magical sunset. We stayed at this hotel! My wife and I were looking for a bar that was close by and found out about the rooftop. We ventured up, and had one of the best nights. Met some great people, had some good cocktails with a beautiful view of the ocean. The bartenders were friendly and it was perfect. I can't wait for my next visit to Carlsbad. I finally made it over here, after hearing about this place awhile back. It was a bit confusing as we had to wait at the host stand, but then had to seat ourselves. Also it was kinda hard knowing if the seats were available or not as there would be a number sign on the table but no one there. Eventually we realized they just don't take the number signs off once food arrives which adds to the confusion. The drinks were good, but the food wasn't. The fries we got weren't crisp at all, which I can't stand limp fries. Also, besides seating yourself you also have to order both your drinks and food at the bar...which can make the line rather long. We were there on a sunny 80-degree afternoon, so they weren't lit of course. I'd bet they are really nice at night. The vibe is upscale casual. I was perfectly comfortable in my shorts, t-shirt and flip flops. Prices were a bit high as one would expect from a hotel's lounge. $9 pints of beer. Only canned seltzers and they were $7. A seltzer (Ashland, or Brewery X or similar craft) would be nice. I enjoyed a pint of Tower39 El Capitán Mexican Lager. Bex opted for a White Claw seltzer. We did not try any food offerings. Service was a bit slow, but it was pretty busy and only one bartender was working. The bar is really nice, by the way. Yes. We will return to Tower39 the next time we're in Carlsbad. read more

This is now one of my favorite rooftop bars to come and watch the sunset! The view is beautiful, you lose some of the sunset into the rooftop of the homes but still a great view. It was a little chilly so the firepits or tall heaters kept everyone warm. The food was delicious and the plate sizes were pretty big... we had the Happy Hour pretzel bites with cheese and cheesey flatbread (pretty much it was like pizza) and they were both amazing. Even with happy Hour it was kind of expensive... for one beer and one of those appetizers it was $18 but with the view too it was all worth it. Friendly staff, clean area, and parking is available all around the block for free or you can park in the hotel downstairs lot for a fee. Definitely go check it out!! read more

Absolutely worth the trip! Some of the most beautiful views in the area. This rooftop bar and restaurant is on top of the Springhill suites. If you are walking up to the hotel from the beach direction, there is a separate elevator that will take you to the rooftop. It is open to the public, you do not have to be a guest. There's plenty of seating, and when the sun goes down, they turn on all of the fire pits and fire features. We only came for drinks.
