It's the 1st day of Summer and I wanted to spend a lot of time outdoors soaking up the sunshine. What a perrrfect time to finally go to the Tower39 Rooftop Lounge! I wanted to go there for the longest especially for Happy Hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I got up there, I was amazed at the ocean views and pleasantly surprised it wasn't crowded during this beauuutiful late afternoon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I picked my spot to sit then stood in line while looking over the front-n-back menu. Everything sounded good but I wanted something fresssh and summery. The friendly staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in my decision to keep it Summer related. Not too long afterwards, my order came out. Looove the quick service! Both female bartenders were slaying it as soon as the line grew. Great spot, but no service. You have to go up to the bar to order which is a bummer. It would be my go-to spot if they had servers. Been here a few times. Fairly consistent in terms of food and the drinks are well made. I think where this place falls short is the lack of umbrellas. It's full sun at all points of the day and you will start to sweat rather quickly which can leave you feeling pretty uncomfortable. There is a breeze but it's often not enough. We have wanted to try this place for sometime and finally made it one afternoon. We were greeted by a hostess and handed menus and told to seat ourselves and order at the bar. The sliders are made with roast beef, which was odd, but we gave them a try. The pretzel bun was a nice choice, but the roast beef wasn't good at all. We also shared a Cobb salad which had a great presentation and was fresh, the dressing was awful and ruined the salad. I finally made it over here, after hearing about this place awhile back. It was a bit confusing as we had to wait at the host stand, but then had to seat ourselves. The strawberry pear-adise cocktail was bold fruity flavors, a bit on the sweeter side, and good pour of vodka. They have 6 So cal beers on draft, and good selection of other specialty cocktails and drinks. There isn't a waitstaff so you need to order drinks at the bar, and they'll drop off food. It takes quite a while for tables to get bussed after people leave. Bartenders aren't the quickest so it does take a bit of time to order. Theres 1 big tv behind the bar, but really only visible when you're waiting in line ordering. Underground parking is validated with purchase greater than $50. read more

Perched atop the Spring Hill Suites hotel on Carlsbad Blvd. in the heart of the Village is Tower39 Rooftop Lounge. The lounge has a dedicated elevator that can be accessed from the sidewalk below, so patrons don't need to enter the hotel. The lounge is really nice. Sweeping views of the beach and ocean and Carlsbad Blvd. Comfy chairs, a lot of tables and seating. They also have comfy sofa seating and several really nice fire pits. We were there on a sunny 80-degree afternoon, so they weren't lit of course. I'd bet they are really nice at night. The vibe is upscale casual. I was perfectly comfortable in my shorts, t-shirt and flip flops. Prices were a bit high as one would expect from a hotel's lounge. $9 pints of beer. Only canned seltzers and they were $7. A seltzer (Ashland, or Brewery X or similar craft) would be nice. I enjoyed a pint of Tower39 El Capitán Mexican Lager. Bex opted for a White Claw seltzer. We did not try any food offerings. Service was a bit slow, but it was pretty busy and only one bartender was working. The bar is really nice, by the way. Yes. We will return to Tower39 the next time we're in Carlsbad. read more

Bartender must've been 1st time bartending. I asked for a pilsner on draft, and it poured like a hazy IPA. I pointed that out to him, and he was argumentative and said that's what's coming out. How are you even a bartender if you dont know what color certain beers are? Then I told him to keep the tab open. He returned my card and receipt. We're 0 for 2! The hostess/server was very apologetic and righted the situation though. Food was mediocre. Holiday Panini was a little cold and lacked flavor. Best part of my experience here was the drinks, they were very refreshing! For the food, everything tasted fine but nothing special. I upgraded my waffle fries to garlic parm and they still tasted pretty plain. We were shocked to find out that you had to go to the bar to order food and drinks. While ordering, the bartender was not the friendliest and we felt extremely rushed (there was maybe one or two parties behind us in line). The photos on yelp of the ambiance and rooftop seating excited us but we were a little underwhelmed. The seating did not look as presentable in person as the pictures and it felt dirty. We were here for vacation and stayed across the street.You take the elevator to the roof and you get a great view of the Carlsbad beach. You have to make your food and drink order at the bar. Isabel took our order and she was very nice. I got the Karl Strauss red trolley ale. We ordered three flatbreads and pretzel bites. These were all hand delivered from the head chef Exton he was great as well. Kelly the manager was hustling everywhere making sure it was a smooth operation. She checked on us frequently. I ended up leaving my backpack there and they put it at the front desk. Mary and Tyler were also incredible at the bar!! What an excellent restaurant and atmosphere. Like a family. What a great find! First of all, the view is fantastic. Enjoy your lunch/dinner while overlooking the ocean. You can't beat it! The food is very good. I had the buffalo wings, and they were great. Well cooked, crispy, and spicy! I also really liked the pretzel bites. Probably the most generous helping of pretzel bites I've ever had. My wife really enjoyed her tomato bisque and Mediterranean Breeze wrap. The service was very helpful and friendly! The first time, it was cold and windy, so Melissa fired up a firepit, making for a wonderful experience. The ocean views are great! This is now one of my favorite rooftop bars to come and watch the sunset! The view is beautiful, you lose some of the sunset into the rooftop of the homes but still a great view. It was a little chilly so the firepits or tall heaters kept everyone warm. The food was delicious and the plate sizes were pretty big... we had the Happy Hour pretzel bites with cheese and cheesey flatbread (pretty much it was like pizza) and they were both amazing. Even with happy Hour it was kind of expensive... for one beer and one of those appetizers it was $18 but with the view too it was all worth it. Friendly staff, clean area, and parking is available all around the block for free or you can park in the hotel downstairs lot for a fee. Definitely go check it out!! read more

Tower 39 is our absolute favorite spot to enjoy what I thought was a hidden gem, but obviously the word is out because so many locals as well as tourists have discovered this amazing rooftop restaurant/bar. True to the laid back Carlsbad vibe and the warm hospitality extended to each and every customer is the incredible Nami Faramarzi!! This Food & Beverage Manager stands head and shoulders above many of the establishments we have visited in the village as locals. Since we are lucky enough to live in this vibrant coastal community, we have made it a habit to pop in at various times and days whenever we are enjoying our walks. Despite the crowds during the summer, I am still impressed at the warm welcome we receive from the hostess desk to the young servers doing their best to tend to their customer's needs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Yes, the line may get long during crunch time but let's face it; you are still in a beautiful outdoor setting, overlooking the blue ocean and enjoying an iconic view while you wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If that's your only complaint, then I say we really have nothing significant to whine about. We had a group in town for a wedding and stopped in for lunch, drinks and some sun on the rooftop. The drinks and beers were excellent and the food very good. I had the chicken quesadillas, others had the pretzel bites, the Cobb salad, panini sandwich. All very food. The bar tender and staff were very attentive, running drinks and food efficiently and helping with needs for additional sauce or whatever. Second time coming here and it has completely failed in service. Last time we had the best experience stayed for drinks for hours. Today we could not leave fast enough. We were one of 5 tables and the hostess was so rude to us. We tried to move an umbrella less than a foot to block the sun and were the only table it covered and she rudely came over and yelled at us for moving it. We offered to move it back and she snapped at us. We don't mind going to the bar for drinks but the environment was so un welcoming that we did not want to stay. We get it, they close at 9pm even on Friday, kitchen closes at 8 and we were so rushed at 7:51 to "order now" and at 8:45 the amount of servers that came by to get us to start packing up was crazy. My favorite, at 8:58, was when they turned off the little lamp we had on our table and took it away....haha. We get it, they want to go home. Absolutely worth the trip! Some of the most beautiful views in the area. This rooftop bar and restaurant is on top of the Springhill suites. If you are walking up to the hotel from the beach direction, there is a separate elevator that will take you to the rooftop. It is open to the public, you do not have to be a guest. There's plenty of seating, and when the sun goes down, they turn on all of the fire pits and fire features. We only came for drinks. They are on the pricier side, but the views are worth it. read more

The shredded cheese wasn't melted and it seemed like they tried to "heat" them by just pouring warm nacho cheese over them.
