Hawaiian Chicken Katsu
Archie S.

One of the few places open late on a weekday and for all the craft beer lovers, this place has a good variety of local beers that you would definitely enjoy. I was hungry and had to stop by for a bite and since their kitchen was open till 10pm I got a chance to get a bite. They have all the finger foods, burgers, sandwiches and plates here as most brewery style restaurants do. I wanted something a little hearty so I had ordered their Hawaiian Chicken Katsu plate which comes with Rice and Macaroni Salad. The food was alright, the breading was not really the Japanese panko but it's a brewery so it did the job. The place itself is nice, and they have a nice indoor and outdoor area along with their nice bar area. Definitely a place to get some good beers and drinks along with a bite.

Fajitas

This has been my second time giving this location a try. Great location and lots of TVs to catch any game. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating to put on the game you are wanting to watch. Unfortunately though I have been disappointed in the food order both times. Price doesn't match the quality of food. If I ever go back it will only be for drinks and to watch the game. The meat and shrimp for the fajitas were overcooked and bland. Tortillas were were steal.

Went to Biergarten today with a bestie and it was amazing! The food was great and the drinks were awesome. Our server Haley was great and on top of it! Highly recommend to visitors and locals (like me)!

Located in the SeaBird Resort in downtown Oceanside right across from the beach, Piper has that classy beachside aesthetic with light grey and sand wood colors. They have a nice outside area for drinks and lounging, but we ate inside. We had a reservation for a Saturday evening and when we arrived, we were sat right away. Our party of 4 started off with the Prager Bros bread & whipped butter with sea salt and the Grilled Peaches appetizer. The grilled peaches came with burrata cheese and I really liked the two flavors and consistencies together. A friend got the lobster & coconut soup, whipped smoked eggplant, and I had the house-made spaghetti and meatball. It was a beef meatball My other friend got the Steak frites which was grilled prime NY Steak with bone marrow, chimichurri and of course french fries. Also good.

The restaurant was not very busy as I saw some open tables. Our waiter really was the worst. He seemed inattentive and then borderline rude when we asked to order. We sat down and got our food 2 hours later. Then we sat around for another hour waiting for our dessert/coffees and finally the check. A total time of 3 hours for dinner and the restaurant itself was flashing lights to indicate it was closing. You would think that would mean they hurried to get us settled out. Nope, the employees were just talking to each other and starting to close down...and apparently forgot about us. Some of our party started to leave because it was way too long to wait. The food was overall fine. Some plates were good and some were lackluster. The decor was sophisticated and obviously going for an upscale vibe. The bill finally came after we asked multiple times and it totaled over $1,000 and it really was dissatisfying. I would recommend everyone take their business elsewhere. There are better spots to blow some cash.

The beer and drink selection alone is worth the visit--tons of options whether you're keeping it casual or trying something new. Food-wise... the Bacon Mac N Cheese was next level. Rich, flavorful, and exactly what you want it to be. My buddy (who was literally about to move out of town) went with the burger--and let's just say he picked the right "last meal" in Oceanside. What really stood out though was the service. Top of the line from start to finish. Big shoutout to Mitch--young guy, super personable, clearly takes pride in what he does. He was everywhere in the best way, checking in on tables, making people feel taken care of. Honestly, the way he moves, he should be serving--he's got that natural touch. Great food, great drinks, great people. One of those nights that just hits right. I'll definitely be back.

We moved chairs around and grabbed blankets and got it worked out without any help from staff. Porkbelly appetizer was overcooked and lacked anything special that made it memorable. The pork chop was also overcooked and the grits were very thick.. cheesy but not creamy. The short ribs were dry.... Strange for braised meat and not enough sauce. The sauce was really good as were the mashed potatoes and carrots. The burger was excellent. Really juicy with a great bun. The atmosphere is very cool and inviting. I would return for burgers and to try the fried chicken. It looked awesome coming out of the kitchen. The burger was excellent.

On this last visit, we had the chance to meet the owner and chef, and they, along with the entire staff, were incredibly kind and attentive. It was my first time dining at the bar counter, and the experience was just as lovely as ever. We ordered some of our go-to favorites, but also tried a few new dishes like the beef tartare, which was fantastic. The chef's special with green mussels and spicy coconut curry both looked amazing and tasted even better. We finished with a dessert that was light and perfectly balanced between tart and sweet. As always, an incredible experience--we'll definitely be back again soon.

Nearly everything we tried was bursting with flavor, well-deserving of the Michelin Bib Gourmand designation the restaurant has earned the past five years. The food is served family style, and the cocktail menu is unique. Conveniently, there is also a good amount of street parking around the restaurant, even on bustling weekends. To start, I had the black rose, an agave wine cocktail with black sesame, rose orgeat, and egg white. I'm not sure the blend of flavors worked, but it was certainly unique. We also tried the gypsy king (their version of a spicy margarita) and the pandan, lime, and coconut mocktail, both of which were decent. For the small plates, we agreed that the charred eggplant and sea bream ceviche were stellar. The sambal shined with the eggplant, and the cassava chips paired perfectly with the makrut lime and coconut cream in the ceviche. The roti was just alright - nothing to write home about. The pork belly skewers were juicy and well-flavored, although we had finished all our small and large plates by the time the skewers came out (we had to ask about them - the waiters/kitchen likely forgot about our skewers, as multiple tables seated after us received theirs before we did). The ayam penyet, nasi goreng, and beef rendang were delicious and well thought-out dishes. We agreed that while the menu is heavily Indonesian-inspired and the food features the flavors of Southeast Asia, the dishes are quite Americanized. Dija Mara shines in presenting a typically uncommon cuisine in the U.S. in an easily accessible manner, which is laudable. Would recommend everyone try at least once.

For a spot that is also a bakery it was quite disappointing that we would have bread out of the fridge or freezer. They replaced it but it wasn't much better. The grilled cabbage appetizer that was supposedly a hot item was bland without much flavor and had piles of Parmesan on top to cover up the blandness? It would have benefited from a more complex flavor profile. The salmon was over salted and terribly over cooked. Also worth mentioning it was a super small filet for $39. The pea pesto was tasty but needed to be more creamy. For this price point I expected more than just a small salad plate that didn't have anything more than the filet and pesto. The sausage pasta only had a little heat going for it - any other seasoning was unnoticeable and nothing more than what I can do in my own kitchen and could even do better. This place does not compare to its sister restaurants (Campfire and Jeune et Jolie). Definitely not worth the price point and a huge disappointment. Would have much rather spent my money at a hole in the wall that served complex flavors and undeniably satiating dishes.

One thing that was really stellar about 333 Pacific was we made reservations for their first time slot of the day at noon, and despite arriving about 12 minutes early before opening, we were still able to be seated. We drove nearly an hour to get here and it was pretty windy outside, so we appreciated the opportunity to be out of the elements. Our waitress was very nice and throughout our meal multiple staff assisted. No one ever missed a beat. They were all very pleasant and worked well together. You could tell the morale here is very high! We stared out with the calamari, which was- easily a 5 star dish! It was fried to perfection and the melange of sauces drizzled on top were *chefs kiss* excellent! Before our entree arrived they also brought out some piping hot Rosemary Bread Rolls along with some Maple Butter. I thought it was pretty good, but I wish the presence of the rosemary was dialed back so I could taste more of the Maple Butter. For an entree I had the Ahi Tuna Burger lunch special with fries. The seared Ahi Tuna was great and there was a very generous portion served on the burger. The Brioche bun was not very good though, and I feel the shallots on the burger were a bit overwhelming. The fries with the dish were good, but pretty standard fare. I would've preferred the option of a small green salad instead of fries if it was available. My husband ordered the Cioppino. I tried it and it was delicious- another 5 star dish! It had a very deep flavor and lots of seafood. A lot of work to get to some of the seafood, but well worth the effort. The main miss of the meal was my husband ordered a Dr. Pepper and it was flat. He let the waitress know and she went to another station to get a fresh one, and it too, was on the flat side. By this point, my husband just wanted water since the carbonation wasn't up to par. The waitress did a great job and really tried to fix the situation, but the carbonation just wasn't working. I had a Strawberry Lemonade which was fine, but could've used a little oomph for the $8 price tag. Another miss was the terrible smell in the women's restroom. It was either dry drain or some other plumbing issue, but it was pretty bad. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. Overall, we did have a nice lunch here with a great view of the beach. The things that were amiss can easily be fixed, so I'm sure they are not permanent issues. Glad to have dined here, the staff really elevated the experience and made us feel very welcomed.
