Met a ladies lunch group of .6 here and Allysa was a pro waiting on us and answering questions regarding the menu. It was pretty extensive and I almost missed the lunch deal- 1/2 sandwich with side for $14!! What a deal for a Cardiff crack sandwich and sweet potato fries which I happily paid extra 2$ for. So many choices and all of us left happy and full. You could have a salad, brussel sprouts, or other choices with sandwich. Lots of beer choices of course too. The location is perfect on the corner with ocean breezes coming in and lots of seating. There's garage parking next door and validates tickets which I recommend- especially if here on a Thursday as the street fair tows cars after 1 for the vendors. read more

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon with wife and kid. Sign said "wait to be seated" but we waited about 5-6 minutes before just walking up to the bar to seek assistance. Once seated the server approached us and she had a strong detergent smell to her. Ordered the chicken katsu, fish tacos and kids chicken tenders. Pretzels as an appetizer. Pretzels were way too salty and oily. Didn't really enjoy them. Chicken katsu was bland and needed the dipping sauce they provided. The macaroni salad that came with the plate was watery and overly sweet. The cabbage has a fowl bitter taste. At least the rice was well cooked. Fish tacos were over fried unfortunately and lacked flavor as well. Only reason we didn't send dishes back was because of a time crunch we had. Kids chicken tenders were OK. I will say the kids plate has way too much food on it. It was a portion that even I would struggle finishing. In conclusion, service was slow, and food was overpriced for how bland it was. Just a solid well-run restaurant. I've eaten here four times and it has always been pleasurable. I recommend the blackened mahi sandwich with garlic truffle fries and try the peach cobbler for dessert. Great place to watch sports especially the world cup! One of the few places open late on a weekday and for all the craft beer lovers, this place has a good variety of local beers that you would definitely enjoy. I was hungry and had to stop by for a bite and since their kitchen was open till 10pm I got a chance to get a bite. They have all the finger foods, burgers, sandwiches and plates here as most brewery style restaurants do. I wanted something a little hearty so I had ordered their Hawaiian Chicken Katsu plate which comes with Rice and Macaroni Salad. The food was alright, the breading was not really the Japanese panko but it's a brewery so it did the job. The place itself is nice, and they have a nice indoor and outdoor area along with their nice bar area. Definitely a place to get some good beers and drinks along with a bite. read more

What's better than 1 cheeseburger? 3 cheese burgers and what's how many I threw down. You know how big daddy dong does it. Took my razor scooter down to cruise the strand and pick up some baddies. While pulling numbers one of my heely wheels needed new bearing lube and I got hungry and decided to try a new restaurant. Walked in, the servers were so lovely and smelt great. I started with 1 burger, 2 shots and a triple ipa. Somehow I ended up smashing 3 burgers it was so good. Then I decided to indulge in some classy fine whiskey aka fireball. Delicious food. Been to the Encinitas location a few times. Decided to try the new location out and it was amazing. Got a drink at the bar while waiting and all of the bartenders were very nice and attentive. Sat down and our server was very nice and didn't miss a bit we didn't have to flag her down for a thing and made us feel very important and taken care of. This has been my second time giving this location a try. Great location and lots of TVs to catch any game. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating to put on the game you are wanting to watch. Unfortunately though I have been disappointed in the food order both times. Price doesn't match the quality of food. If I ever go back it will only be for drinks and to watch the game. The meat and shrimp for the fajitas were overcooked and bland. First timer at Biergarten -Oceanside- Service subpar- Server started out seemingly pleasant but we had to ask for everything needed for food to taste palatable. Asked for check. Asked for book. Food- fish and chips NOT fresh. Would not try it. Did not finish. Guess I should not assume being on the beach means anything related to fresh fish. 2nd meal-breakfast-only eggs came out hot, everything else was warm. They're testing a new kind of burger with a thick layer of chopped bacon smashed on top of the patty... don't get it. It's essentially raw and super fatty. I made the waitress aware of this and it was clear from my plate that I didn't eat any of it, but nothing was taken off the bill. Also, the cocktails are apparently pre-mixed. No modifications can be made. I tried to order the spicy verde margarita without the serrano and they couldn't do it. It was definitely off-putting since they have a full bar. ZERO STARS!!! All around!!! A nightmare!! My friend and I came this evening to have dinner after work. Two couples were in front of us waiting for a table. There were two people helping people get sat, a middle aged man and a younger girl. Finally it was our turn and the woman was the one helping us. I said I knew they were a bit busy but did they have a table inside. She said to let her check. She came back and said there was one table left inside if we wanted it. I said yes we for sure wanted it. She said it wasn't cleared off but she would take the iPad so in the event the guy came back to seat more people he couldn't really do that as she had the iPad. So we waited for a moment and the guy came up to the booth asking if we had been helped. We said yes and he responded with well move then. We moved aside sort of surprised and he then escorted the people to the table we were given. We again stood there a bit shocked and the woman started to walk back with the iPad. I was asking about our table and she never acknowledged what I said and came back with outside? You want to sit outside? You're sitting outside? While I was telling her we literally want that table inside and it was given to us first. My friend chimed in to say at this point we will just sit outside. We got sat outside. I can not express how long it took us to get any service. We tried flagging our waitress and after a while, anyone down to take our order. We got to the point we were essentially waiving our arms and shouting for someone to come. Finally our waitress comes up and asks our drink orders, we say water and she literally walks away (so we had no opportunity to place any more of our order). We waited and waited once again and again had to do essentially the same thing to get any attention. What was even more strange is we were somewhat at a middle table and everyone around us was getting served. We once again finally caught our waitress and she asks us about appetizers (since we waited so long we were hungry) so we put one in. Again right after we said that she tried again to walk away. We had to stop her and demand to order. My friend orders a Cubano and I ordered the chicken sandwich with onion rings. A while goes by and we finally get our appetizer. We then have no waters even and are waiting again on our mains. Finally what we think is our food comes out. A man came to bring our food to the table. He said a cubano and my friend said yes right here and he placed it on the table. Then he said a club? And I said no and he kept saying it and I kept saying no. He was holding the dish maybe a few inches from my face insistent it was mine. My friend had to chime in and say there's no club here dude!! And the guy said seriously?? And we said yes that's what we have been saying. He said we will see about that and took the food finally back to the kitchen. Shortly thereafter, the waitress comes up and starts going on about how sometimes the food doesn't come out together but surely my food will be out any minute. I tell her what just happened with the guy and she looks shocked and darts to the kitchen. She comes back to say how they already realized the mistake and are putting the finishing touches on my food and it will just be a minute. (I bet you can guess by now - it wasn't just a minute by any stretch of the imagination). We're waiting and waiting again and she comes by again to say how it will just be another minute but in any event they are going to comp my meal. Again we are still waiting. Finally my food comes out and the guy essentially just drops it at the table and leaves. When my food came out I was very surprised. It wasn't a breast, it was very small tenders that were so overcooked they shriveled up. The batter was inconsistent and so hard (when I eventually tried it it stuck to my teeth). I didn't even think it looked like chicken either, I'm allergic to fish/shellfish so my friend tried some and smelled it for me to make sure it was safe. When he took his bite he said it was disgusting and threw the rest down onto his plate. The sandwich was still not what I ordered. The chicken was so off, there was a ton of lettuce that was brown and wilted. There was no sauce on it and no tomato or onion. I guess at least my onion rings were alright. I tried to eat my sandwich but it was so dry that I was genuinely afraid to choke so I gave up. The waitress came back again and started talking about how at least now I have my food and how it's right now and how it's even comped so I can really enjoy it. As a new place in our neighborhood I anxiously awaited their opening. Not familiar with their Encinitas location and what they served, I mistakenly assumed that with a name like "Bier Garten" it would have a German beer hall like menu - maybe like the "Tip Top" in Carlsbad - good German food at a reasonable price. What I found instead was a very typical menu with absolutely nothing German about it. That certainly wasn't a deal breaker for me. However, a not so special small sandwich with a few French fries and a small glass of beer costing me nearly $30 was. They need to rethink their menu and pricing and quickly. read more

We go to the Encintas location quite often. It's always a great time- the servers are over the top with service and so fun. We tried the oceanside location and had a great experience the first time. Our waitress was great. Went tonight and sat at the bar. The two girl bartenders had friends sitting at the bar and it was really awkward because they were ignoring everyone else. I really felt like I didn't belong there. The bartender forgot to put our appetizer in so it came out with our food. They always had their back to us , but we're so attentive to their groups of friends. Very disappointing. Bartenders are supposed to be engaging at fun and drive the energy. We stopped in for dinner after walking by and checking out the menu. Decor was nice, music was great and we were happy to be sitting outside. Great new place in Oceanside! We went with 10 people (which grew to 17) on Thurs night. Everyone was so accommodating and welcoming. Service was awesome as was the food! They even gave us separate checks, since some just had drinks while others ate dinner. Happy hour food menu is very limited, but the regular menu has a great variety. Stopped by while on vacation with my husband. I saw the grand opening sign and we decided to give this new place a try. Our Server Kaleb was outstanding. He was very attentive and aided our needs. Firstly the service was great. We sat at the bar and our bartender was working solo and killing it, he was attentive and brought a great energy and my Bloody Mary was delicious! The food however was possibly the worst breakfast my partner and I have had at a restaurant. We got the egg white and Cardiff crack skillets. The potatoes were cut huge for some reason and needed to be cut up to eat, and were very burnt. Not crispy, just burnt with that bitter char flavor. The egg whites were truly "white" with not a fleck of pepper or any other seasoning from the taste. The Cardiff crack skillet was served without the chipotle aioli which we asked for a side of since that's the only thing that gave the dish any flavor. Both were very dry and under seasoned. Hopefully the kitchen can get it together because we love the Encinitas location and had high hopes, but likely wouldn't be back unless it was for drinks only. read more

Food was not worth the price. Everything was bland, I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was probably the worst I've ever tasted. It was pretty disappointing for the price that we paid for it all. The brunette waitress with her teeth diamonds didn't help either, seemed like she had an attitude and definitely did not give good service at all. Do not recommend. As a retired Le Cordon Bleu educated and trained Chef, my wife and I unfortunately Ignored our better knowledge and experience to visit the Bier Garden before they have been open for at least a month. The concept of this business is a 10, but the execution was a 2 and I am being generous with this rating. The food was the biggest disappointment of our visit. Our first choice of an appetizer was the 'Twinkie's' that were not available due to the kitchen not having any available to prepare. This is not encouraging for a new restaurant to not have a menu item available after being open for approx. a week. Our second appetizer choice of the 'Crack' Fries was very disappointing as we are fans of the Seaside Market Tri-Tip and the flavor profile of these fries did not taste like the Seaside meat at all. Our dinner choice of the Cheeseburger was the biggest disappointment of the evening because of the lack of flavor and the Blue Cheese dressing on the side salad was almost impossible to identify as Blue Cheese. The inside of the restaurant is very inviting and well decorated, the service is lacking as bar staff training was being conducted as we sat at the bar, and there should not be any expectation of enjoying great food.
