We come here every time we come to Oceanside. My husband ordered Fishrmans Fry, I ordered the Seabass. His was not very tasty and my Seabass was dry. We spent a lot of money on these two meals... was not worth it. The service was wonderful and I have to say they have the best homemade tiramisu... I hope they get better cooks. I don't think these are the same cooks from last year. I have ordered Seabass before and it came out so moist and delicious and my husband's seafood smelled really bad, very fishy and the sauce was something you would not dip your bread in? The view is always beautiful ...

Chicken nachos - chicken was cold and the entire dish barely edible

Yea this place is pretty terrible and the only saving grace is that the staff were really nice and maybe in the daytime, the views make up for the lackluster food. I came in here after trying to go to two other spots, (LTH and Pure Project were both packed with people and I needed some quiet) and was greeted pretty nicely by the host and chose a seat at their long inviting bar. Its Taco Tuesday as I was told and there was a special on Modelo draft (not my kind of beer) and taco specials. I had an Oside Blonde and that was pretty much the only thing good about the meal. I actually wanted a bowl of soup and when I asked the guy serving me which one was good, he was nice enough to give me a taste of all three, only the Manhattan clam chowder was edible and hot so I opted for that one. But when the soup came, it wasnt even hot and it was lukewarm!! I then ordered a chicken nachos and that was just a sordid mess honestly. The worst nachos I have ever eaten, and the grilled chicken was cold! I didnt want to make a fuss about the food as I just wanted to finish up my meal, pay and make a mad dash for the door. The other thing is they charged me fill price for the nachos even though it was a special for Taco Tuesday. And while the food is inedible, the staff were nice and it was fun to listen to some ska style Xmas music! You're not going to find me coming back here, but never say never, and maybe one day who knows I might be back for the $2 oyster special.

My grandson and I can't come to Oceanside without stopping here for dinner. We love the ambience and service is always wonderful. Happy hour here is always wonderful. It's the perfect way to end our first day on the ocean. Today we ordered the oysters, which are always delicious, crispy calamari and the shrimp scampi. The oysters are always a highlight fresh and delicious along with the calamari. The shrimp scampi was pretty good, it could've used more garlic. We enjoyed our evening watching the sunset before heading out.

Went on a Wednesday night, sat down right away. We'd been eyeing the menu so we knew what we wanted. We were a little weary to order the clam chowder based on reviews but I would give it a 7.5/10. It wasn't awful like the other reviews said. We got decent amount of clams and flavor wasn't bad. Also ordered, ahi tacos, cioppino, and ceviche. Ahi tacos were pretty good, came in an order of 3. The ceviche was the best. Really enjoyed it! The cioppino fell absolutely short. It was actually awful. We couldn't eat it however the servers were so kind and removed it from our bill. Would return but maybe just to get ceviche and poke to go from downstairs.

Yum! crab Louie salad, coconut shrimp, clam chowder in bread bowl, cocktails - all so delicious! Service was great too. Hard to beat the Oceanside Harbor view from here.

I went during happy hour. I didn't try a lot but with $1 dollar oysters, why try anything else. The oysters along with the horseradish and mignonette were amazing. That horseradish packed a punch. And the oysters were fresh and briny. The drink - the Jin Mojito was a lil celery forward but still pretty good.

Come for the location and friendly service but not the food. Spacious restaurant and bar with fun atmosphere. Food is mediocre. For a seafood restaurant the Boston clam chowder was a big miss - they should call it warm cream sauce. Not a clam to be seen, loads of creamy broth, scant potatoes. Never had anything like it. The coconut shrimp seemed dry and re-fried. Heavy on the coconut batter. Spinach salad was fine - no seafood in that! Bananas foster saved the night!

A nice light munch on the patio. We met some friends and had an array of food. Salads, tacos, tuna stack and all were white tasty. The view is nearly in eatable and at 72 degrees, could not have been nicer. The place is showing its age and is not showy in any way. That said, the service was truly superb and this is a great place to hang and enjoy a nice meal.

Despite the mixed 3.5-star reviews, I've never had a bad experience at Lighthouse Oyster Bar and Grill in Oceanside Harbor. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Staff are on top of it. Their oysters are absolutely fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and a true highlight of the menu. The blackened fish tacos are top-notch as well--perfectly spiced, tender fish nestled in warm tortillas. The staff is friendly and attentive, always making sure you have what you need. It's become my go-to place for a consistently great meal with a beautiful harbor view. Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy fresh seafood in a laid-back environment. I gave it 5 Stars just to offset the BS. It a 4.6.

Excellent fish & chips! I substituted their garlic mashed instead of fries! My wife loved the NE Chowder & grilled fish taco. Great Harbor location!

Went to the lighthouse after walking around the harbor with family. We sat outside looking out over the harbor and boats. Beautiful beach skies. We sat ourselves as the sign requested, and we were quickly greeted by staff. Menus, water and a friendly smile. We ordered some drinks and split a couple of appetizers. Chips and salsa and chicken nachos and oyster shooters with extra horseradish. The salsa had the perfect heat. Fresh made chips with the nachos also. Everything tasted fresh. Such a great outdoor atmosphere on St. Patrick's day. The service was amazing. Juan was our waiter. Attentive and professional. You must try the chicken nachos not heavy at all

Rockafella Oysters- Look nice but na NO!

View...Amazing Food...Not so amazing Out of towners touring the pier and wanted oysters. Stopped by here, it said oyster bar and looked nice. First off, them stairs to get to restaurant were a little inconvenient. Ordered the Rockafella oysters (dry and Colby Jack on top), clam chowder(very watery, no pieces of potato or clams), a slice of garlic cheese bread were a definite NEVER AGAIN! The raw oysters and sautéed mushrooms were good. Very disappointed in this spot. Oh and also the cooks use their bare hands to grab everything and waitress was a little all over the place. Sorry but don't think I would recommend this place to anyone.

Located in the SeaBird Resort in downtown Oceanside right across from the beach, Piper has that classy beachside aesthetic with light grey and sand wood colors. They have a nice outside area for drinks and lounging, but we ate inside. We had a reservation for a Saturday evening and when we arrived, we were sat right away. Our party of 4 started off with the Prager Bros bread & whipped butter with sea salt and the Grilled Peaches appetizer. The grilled peaches came with burrata cheese and I really liked the two flavors and consistencies together. A friend got the lobster & coconut soup, whipped smoked eggplant, and I had the house-made spaghetti and meatball. It was a beef meatball My other friend got the Steak frites which was grilled prime NY Steak with bone marrow, chimichurri and of course french fries. Also good.

The restaurant was not very busy as I saw some open tables. Our waiter really was the worst. He seemed inattentive and then borderline rude when we asked to order. We sat down and got our food 2 hours later. Then we sat around for another hour waiting for our dessert/coffees and finally the check. A total time of 3 hours for dinner and the restaurant itself was flashing lights to indicate it was closing. You would think that would mean they hurried to get us settled out. Nope, the employees were just talking to each other and starting to close down...and apparently forgot about us. Some of our party started to leave because it was way too long to wait. The food was overall fine. Some plates were good and some were lackluster. The decor was sophisticated and obviously going for an upscale vibe. The bill finally came after we asked multiple times and it totaled over $1,000 and it really was dissatisfying. I would recommend everyone take their business elsewhere. There are better spots to blow some cash.

On this last visit, we had the chance to meet the owner and chef, and they, along with the entire staff, were incredibly kind and attentive. We ordered some of our go-to favorites, but also tried a few new dishes like the beef tartare, which was fantastic. The chef's special with green mussels and spicy coconut curry both looked amazing and tasted even better. We finished with a dessert that was light and perfectly balanced between tart and sweet. As always, an incredible experience--we'll definitely be back again soon.

Nearly everything we tried was bursting with flavor, well-deserving of the Michelin Bib Gourmand designation the restaurant has earned the past five years. The food is served family style, and the cocktail menu is unique. Conveniently, there is also a good amount of street parking around the restaurant, even on bustling weekends. To start, I had the black rose, an agave wine cocktail with black sesame, rose orgeat, and egg white. I'm not sure the blend of flavors worked, but it was certainly unique. We also tried the gypsy king (their version of a spicy margarita) and the pandan, lime, and coconut mocktail, both of which were decent. For the small plates, we agreed that the charred eggplant and sea bream ceviche were stellar. The sambal shined with the eggplant, and the cassava chips paired perfectly with the makrut lime and coconut cream in the ceviche. The roti was just alright - nothing to write home about. The pork belly skewers were juicy and well-flavored, although we had finished all our small and large plates by the time the skewers came out (we had to ask about them - the waiters/kitchen likely forgot about our skewers, as multiple tables seated after us received theirs before we did). The ayam penyet, nasi goreng, and beef rendang were delicious and well thought-out dishes. We agreed that while the menu is heavily Indonesian-inspired and the food features the flavors of Southeast Asia, the dishes are quite Americanized. Dija Mara shines in presenting a typically uncommon cuisine in the U.S. in an easily accessible manner, which is laudable. Would recommend everyone try at least once.

For our first appetizer-type courses, we ordered sliced sourdough with butter and roasted cabbage - both great options. The roasted cabbage ended up being my favorite part of the dinner. It was like a Caesar salad on a juicy, tender cabbage spear with a slight char. I felt like I definitely needed to order some bread to try some element of the bakery. We got another taste of the bakery because we also ordered pizza from the kids menu. I snuck a piece and that was great. We ordered two main courses: one pasta dish and the other was a braised rabbit with morels. The pasta dish was fine but my wife and I weren't planning to share it. We had to share it because the rabbit dish took so long that I had to cancel the order. It was unfortunate because I was really looking forward to that. That was one inconvenience. The other hiccup was they didn't have any beer available because of a cooler issue. They had really good beer on the menu too, so finding that out after I ordered was a let down. I entertained ordering wine or a cocktail afterward but passed. We were sitting by the bar and the cocktails they were making looked really good. With those issues, the manager spoke with us and sent us home with a slice of lemon meringue pie to rectify. We appreciated the gesture and the service we had all night was good. I'm sure this place gets 5/5 stars most nights. It's a super cool place inside and out.
