Definitely our favorite place !!!! Celebrated my birthday here with friends , and had an amazing time . We've been back on a daily basis since . Thank you Hannah!! You are amazing!!!!!

Bluewater Grill is always a good stop, especially if you're craving clam chowder. Their chowder is creamy, flavorful, and loaded with clams. It's perfect to enjoy there or take home, and portions are generous. I frequent this location for the fish market and the happy hour. Also, I've ordered the Java Mud Pie for various occasions; make sure to order ahead for an entire pie. The pictures will convince you, trust me. It's hard to resist. They recently started selling sushi, so I need to try it during my next visit. They have a nice variety of seafood dishes, salads, and appetizers. Favorites include clam chowder, crab cakes, calamari, oysters, fresh fish entrées, and fish tacos, with classic desserts too. There's plenty of indoor seating plus a nice outdoor patio, which makes it a great spot to dine. The patio is heated and pet friendly too. The fresh sourdough bread is always warm and pairs perfectly with the chowder. Overall, it's a great choice for fresh seafood and such.

Excellent fish restaurant. I have dined here a few times and I always enjoy what I order. The last time I was there, I had a shrimp and scallop pasta and it was amazing. The waitress we had was great. The ambiance is intimate and casual as well as could be romantic. They have a heated patio and large restaurant seating.

Came for happy hour on a Thursday around 3:30pm (3-6pm) is happy hour it was perfect not very crowded got seated right away & service was great! We had a few beers and a cup of the clam chowder which is a classic staple I get here and we shared the firecracker shrimp tacos they are battered shrimp in a lettuce taco wrap very tasteful! Great spot for happy hour!

Came here on a random solo date and had a really great time. The service was excellent...we love a server whose recommendations land 100%. I wish I remembered his name because he truly elevated the experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and I had a great window seat that made it even better. The food was chef's Kiss! Clearly fresh! Thanks to my fellow yelpers for this find as they spoke truth regarding quality and consistency here. I'm already looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in the area.

Crabcakes were some of the best. The steak was just okay, the today's fish entree was also just okay. The new england clam chowder was really good. Inside was clean service was good. We may return.

Service was very quick and attentive. The food at Bluewater Grill is exceptional. They have the best seafood Louie salad I have ever tried. The cioppino and cod were delicious too. Highly recommend blue water for seafood lovers

Hubby and I went to celebrate Valentine's Day early and Bluewater Grill did not disappoint. We had the Pre-Valentine set menu which was the seafood sampler paired with a glass of Prosecco and the lobster tail paired with a glass of white wine. So fresh and delicious! We ordered a bowl of the New England clam chowder and a bowl of the Manhattan Clam Chowder...perfectly seasoned! Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. We cannot wait to go back!

4:30 on friday for happy hour, complimentary sourdough bread & butter was warm & very good, the calamari nuggets looked off putting but were surprisingly good, tender & crispy with a sweet chili sauce. The crab artichoke dip was piping hot, good flavor, thin salty chips. Overall pretty good. Got a coors light too & total was $32 pre tip. Server was attentive, we sat outside & they turned the heaters on for us. Train is loud if you sit outside. On the back patio they have tv's, front patio they dont.

Wow! I can't say enough great things about this restaurant as their service is absolutely amazing. Food is fresh and top-notch and the ambience is very cool and laid-back. They have a great happy hour. That is an amazing deal for the quality of the food. You can also buy a fresh fish at their fish counter. They bring out a wonderful loaf of sourdough bread when you sit down that is warm and delicious. I've also had some of their sushi which has been some of the freshest I've had in a long time every time I'm in Carlsbad I will always visit Bluewater Grill as it is my new favorite restaurant that I really enjoy!

Scrolling through yelp found this place for an early dinner. It didn't disappoint. Looked small from the outside - but it's actually a lot larger. Inside and outside seating with a beautiful bar. We didn't realize the train track with a loud horn is right there- but doesn't last only a few seconds. I ordered walnut crusted halibut with lemon capers. It came with a side asparagus and scalloped potatoes. Hubby ordered panned seared scallops which came with mushrooms, spinach and shallots. A wonderful tasting wine sauce. This place is certainly a redo!! And staff was amazing! Parking is tight so early is the way to go.

Mother's Day is a battleground. Bluewater weathered the storm and not only maintained my reservation without any hiccups but the restaurant itself was spotlessly clean and very well staffed for one of the busiest dining days of the year. Seafood was fresh and plentiful. We had: calamari, a mixed seafood platter, grilled scallops and even a crème brûlée. All was delicious and perfectly cooked - zero complaints. Service was friendly and attentive. Successful Mother's Day.

Went here for dinner. Sat in the bar on a Friday night and it was still happy hour, we had a yummy beer and white wine, both which were on happy hour, then we shared two appetizers on the happy hour menu both of which were really good. Then we ordered the Halibut with blackened seasoning. Fish was amazing. We shared all three and it was A TON of food. It was overall a great experience, we easily found a table, were able to make happy hour without rushing to get thereafter work. Parking was good. And it wasn't too loud in the bar area. Food quality was delicious. We'll definitely be back.

Ask the Community - Bluewater Grill

What are the most recommended dishes?

We really enjoyed steak and lobster aka surf and turf although it was bit expensive. Ironically I would never order lobster roll again. The worst one ever.

Can we bring our dog for outside seating?

    Absolutely, we are dog friendly!

Do they have a happy hour?

    Sunday to Thursday 3pm-6pm

    Where is the parking?

They have their own lot on the side of the restaurant.

No reservations tor parties less than six. I'm concerned I'll show up tonight and have issues getting a table. Any thoughts on best time to get there so we have a relaxing and positive experience?

I've only been there for lunch, which is fantastic!! Don't know about the dinner crowd. Of course a quick phone call to them would be your best bet.

    Happy hour hours?

    Gluten free options available?

    Yes, just ask your server👍🏼

What is the wine corkage fee?

Can you order fried oysters at your restaurant?

Is there valet parking? Or ample handicapped parking? Mom and dad are meeting us there and they can't walk far.

No valet parking. a couple of handicap parking space. Plenty of close to the door parking spaces

Is happy hour in the lounge area only?

    Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are allowed on the patio. There are 2 patios

Can I bring in my own bottle of wine and is there a corkage fee?

Can we bring our own bottle of wine?

I don't know, but you can call the restaurant. Everybody there is really nice

Is there a corkage fee and if so, what is it?

Can I make a reservation for two,for the crabby event on June 12th?

Yes of course. Call the Grill directly.

FOOD: - hot potatoes: has a pickled radish and some sort of crème sauce that was so good - these were my husband's favorite. - chicken satay: It came with pickled cucumber (think when it's cucumber kimchi, but it wasn't a kimchi type of marinade). The peanut sauce had a little spice (if you don't have any spice tolerance I would avoid the sauce, but it was sooo good). This was my favorite. - khao soi curry (has egg noodles) and that was delicious. We added the brisket to it which was a good add. My husband ate his so fast and I had to make him not take any more so we could have leftovers! DRINKS: - we got complimentary champagne for our anniversary which was so so sweet of them and made our night! The champagne itself was actually one of the best champagnes I have had. It had a nice sweetness to it. - my husband had the thai lager, which he said was okay. It tasted like most lagers he's had. - we shared the tangerine you are my sex machine as it sounded interesting and i do have to say this was the only thing we weren't big fans of. it was very smokey, but my husband put "old boat motor" in my head and that's all we could taste. if you love smokey drinks this would be for you. - I had a house cocktail that I cannot remember the name of for the life of me, but it was sweet, peachy (I think) and had champagne in it from what I remember. It was so good and would get it again! The vibe inside the restaurant was cool and there are over 30 tigers (our server counted for us, but she said she couldn't even find them all). The bathrooms were cute and very clean. 10/10 recommend. The check even came in a romance novel!

I think everything really complimented each other well from the music to the art to the menu, it was great! Our server was nice as we were indecisive with even such a small menu, we had a hard time. The drinks were good and strong, unique and creative. Which I guess when you're going out and want to stay on theme, it works. We had the coconut broth hamachi which was so lip-smackingly addictive with those wonton chips! I would come back just for that dish! The chicken satay skewers were also delicious and the sauce that came with it was a good mix of sweet, savory, spicy and salty. I do think from there it was kind of just okay? I got the half fried chicken which smelled a fish sauce glaze and that's what I went in expecting but there was no punch of that fish sauce flavor you know? It needed a bit more pop. BF got the pork belly banh mi bowl which I guess in theory why would you get that at a Thai place? But the pork belly was hard and firm, not as you'd expect it to be which was dissapointing. Our friends got the Khao Soi which was delicious I do have to say and the Panang with Brisket. I think it was cool to try but im just stuck in my ways and prefer the ole mom and pop down the road with more options. But its fun for a night out!

We ordered a beer and seltzer and it took easily 10-15 minutes to get our drinks. Drinks that were in cans by the way. Music was good, DJs were good, but the whole vibe of the place is kinda everywhere. This lighting in this place needs to be more dimmed. DJs are spinning right in the middle of the room, and there's a clothes rack just chilling against the wall. The baristas are way in the back, and you can't really tell who works there. It took equally as long to get the check as it did to get my drinks. We only had 1 round of drinks. I dunno, waiting for canned drinks just threw me off.
