Happy Hour specials. Steamed clams, crab cakes and sushi. Free sourdough bread and soft butter as an opening.

I appreciate the Bluewater Grill Seafood. They have a decent happy hour, with a good selection of food specials and drink specials. The interior of the restroom was clean and inviting. The service staff was very attentive and checked regularly. The regular checks was a plus, because we kept ordering more drinks. We ordered the steam clams, a sushi roll and crab cakes. What stood out of the most was the steamed clams. The garlic broth was delicious, so save some sourdough bread for dipping. We also ordered oyster shooters. The "islander" containing tequila and the the "shucker's choice" containing vodka. The hard liquor was a bit over powering and was abrasive. A month prior, we visited the Coronado location and had the "michelada" oyster shooter and it was decent as the beer didn't over power the oyster. There's a lot of potential in creating a non-alcoholic oyster shooter, and hopefully smaller in size. I would recommend a mexican flavor approach with a tomato base or even a Japanese approach with ponzu. The "shooter" size was about a "single" glass, a bit much but gosh trying to down it was abrasive, just to get to the oyster. Overall, I'll stick to the oyster on the half shell as they have a special for that at Happy Hour. I appreciate the staff that served us and this establishment as a whole. Thank you for the experience during my work trip.

Pretty good! Always a lively place, normally sit at the bar but also has great patio seating and live music. The foods all like a 7/10 nothing extra crazy good but still delicious!! Have tried basically all the apps at this point. Bartenders are very attentive and always offering free bread. Would recommend and will be back

I've been coming to Bluewater for years now. I have to say I've had some good experiences and some not so great. This night was bad. I arrived to meet friends who were already seated. They had bread, but ordered more for us late comers. It was a while before a server came to the table, long enough that when he came to take our drink orders we had viewed the menu and were ready to order our food too. He was friendly and patient though. We again requested the bread that never came prior. They were somewhat busy as it was happy hour so we waited a bit. We just chatted and caught up. After a while we once again requested bread as it still hadn't been brought to us. Third time was a charm and we were finally brought bread. The bread was the highlight of the meal. Served warm, it is soft inside and crunchy out side with a soft butter accompaniment. Shortly thereafter, our food arrived except for one of our party's orders. Two people ordered firecracker shrimp and they were cold upon arrival. One decided to send it back. Sadly my scallops were so rubbery that the provided fork and spoon could barely cut through it. (You can see my picture from the last time I had this dish and the drastic difference was clear) I hate sending food back so I ate it but it was pretty bad. The missing order arrived and it was supposed to be blackened fish tacos. The ratio of cabbage and salsa on top to the small amount of fish in the taco was disappointing, as was the lack of seasoning. Also, we would have liked more water but it was never offered and we didn't see the server until we waved him down for the check. I've tried a lot of items on their menu over the years but the lack of quality and consistency I experienced on this night may have me rethinking that choice, unfortunately.

Food was PHENOMENAL- every component was well prepared, seasoned, and plated! It was delicious - we really enjoyed the misoyaki butterfish as well as the sanddabs! Also, the portion sizes were great - especially for the kids meals!!! Service was very patient and friendly with us, even though we had 3 kids & a double stroller. The host, server, and manager made us feel welcomed & important! It was a great environment for our family - I was a bit concerned at first because it's a nicer restaurant BUT we were met with GREAT HOSPITALITY! There are RESTROOMS inside, along with a changing table available. There is a plethora of both outdoor seating and indoor seating; along with bar top seating.

Absolutely love going to Bluewater Grill. The service is always great, and the ambiance is hard to beat. We sat outside on the patio--it was heated, and they even provided blankets, which made a huge difference since it was a little chilly. The oysters were fantastic, and the seared ahi tuna over rice with green beans was delicious. The "dirt with worms" dessert was a big hit with the kids, and the crème brûlée is a must-try. I also really appreciate that they offer different wine sizes, including larger pours. Highly recommend!

Bluewater Grill is always a good stop, especially if you're craving clam chowder. Their chowder is creamy, flavorful, and loaded with clams. It's perfect to enjoy there or take home, and portions are generous. I frequent this location for the fish market and the happy hour. Also, I've ordered the Java Mud Pie for various occasions; make sure to order ahead for an entire pie. The pictures will convince you, trust me. It's hard to resist. They recently started selling sushi, so I need to try it during my next visit. They have a nice variety of seafood dishes, salads, and appetizers. Favorites include clam chowder, crab cakes, calamari, oysters, fresh fish entrées, and fish tacos, with classic desserts too. There's plenty of indoor seating plus a nice outdoor patio, which makes it a great spot to dine. The patio is heated and pet friendly too. The fresh sourdough bread is always warm and pairs perfectly with the chowder. Overall, it's a great choice for fresh seafood and such.

Excellent fish restaurant. I have dined here a few times and I always enjoy what I order. The last time I was there, I had a shrimp and scallop pasta and it was amazing. The waitress we had was great. The ambiance is intimate and casual as well as could be romantic. They have a heated patio and large restaurant seating.

Came here on a random solo date and had a really great time. The service was excellent...we love a server whose recommendations land 100%. I wish I remembered his name because he truly elevated the experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and I had a great window seat that made it even better. The food was chef's Kiss! Clearly fresh! Thanks to my fellow yelpers for this find as they spoke truth regarding quality and consistency here. I'm already looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in the area.

Ask the Community - Bluewater Grill Seafood Restaurant & Market Carlsbad

What are the most recommended dishes?

We really enjoyed steak and lobster aka surf and turf although it was bit expensive. Ironically I would never order lobster roll again. The worst one ever.

Can we bring our dog for outside seating?

    Absolutely, we are dog friendly!

Do they have a happy hour?

    Sunday to Thursday 3pm-6pm

    Where is the parking?

They have their own lot on the side of the restaurant.

No reservations tor parties less than six. I'm concerned I'll show up tonight and have issues getting a table. Any thoughts on best time to get there so we have a relaxing and positive experience?

I've only been there for lunch, which is fantastic!! Don't know about the dinner crowd. Of course a quick phone call to them would be your best bet.

    Happy hour hours?

    Gluten free options available?

    Yes, just ask your server👍🏼

What is the wine corkage fee?

Can you order fried oysters at your restaurant?

Is there valet parking? Or ample handicapped parking? Mom and dad are meeting us there and they can't walk far.

No valet parking. a couple of handicap parking space. Plenty of close to the door parking spaces

Is happy hour in the lounge area only?

    Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are allowed on the patio. There are 2 patios

Can I bring in my own bottle of wine and is there a corkage fee?

I don't know, but you can call the restaurant. Everybody there is really nice

Is there a corkage fee and if so, what is it?

Can I make a reservation for two,for the crabby event on June 12th?

Yes of course. Call the Grill directly.

The whole bar is vibey and cute, perfect for happy hour or a fun night out. The drinks were delicious and the food was incredible. The bartender was super attentive and took extra time to help me identify which items were gluten free. I've also been to Same Same multiple times for late night fun! Same Same, but Different? Not Quite…read more Hiya B.U.M.S., We recently decided to check out Same Same, hoping for an experience that was delightfully different. Our order for the night? The Thai-style New York steak, Khao Soi curry, and larb lettuce cups--all paired with a custom-crafted, half-Cranberry, half-Sprite. Before we even tasted the food, we almost ended up eating next door. The entrances are a bit of a maze, leaving us standing outside having a mini identity crisis about where we actually wanted to dine. Ultimately, we stayed the course and chose Same Same. The Larb Lettuce Cups: As a massive larb fan, I was hyped. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat. My wife officially dubbed it "lackluster." While the ground beef was seasoned and the lettuce was beautifully crisp, when the lettuce is the undisputed star of your larb, it might be time to reevaluate the recipe. The Yellowtail Ceviche: To recover from the larb disappointment, my wife ordered the ceviche. It was a step up, but for a Thai spot, it was missing that signature kick. It really needed a handful of jalapeños to wake it up. In fact, nothing on the table was truly spicy until I deployed their house chili oil. The Khao Soi Curry: This was the absolute hero of the night! It completely saved the meal. It was rich and delicious, and it paired unexpectedly well with our New York steak--even though the kitchen served it well-done instead of our requested medium-rare. As dinner went on, it became pretty clear that this spot might cater a bit more to the happy hour and drinking crowd, especially considering my Cranberry-Sprite mix was arguably the most flavor-packed thing on the table. That said, the service was fantastic. The staff members were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Pro-Tip: If you're ordering more than two items, do not let them seat you at the tiny tables for two. It's a high-stakes game of food Tetris you will not win. On the bright side, they earned major bonus points for boxing up our leftovers for us. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel like every restaurant should still offer that level of hospitality! Overall, I'd say give it a shot if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a cool atmosphere, but I wouldn't rush off your couch to get there.

One of them was the chicken shawarma, and it was so good! We were able to grab a charming spot outside near their garden, where they actually grow some of the fresh ingredients used in the dishes. Such a cool touch! They also offered a variety of sauces, all of which were delicious. Even the habanero sauce was surprisingly approachable, full of flavor without being overly spicy. The atmosphere was beautiful, the aesthetic was amazing, and the overall experience was fantastic. I would definitely come back.

This time around, it's just the family for Mother's Day. Since I know my food, the table let me order. Fresh hand cut thick long French Fries without a ton of seasoning or oil arrived: one with a cashew cheese truffle sauce, one with no salt, and one salted as requested. My daughter loved her reuben. I loved my blt. The two Caesar salads for the table disappeared quickly because their dressing is unbelievable! Let's see .... what didn't we eat is probably smarter than what did we eat. Beet ketchup, The C Word (braised cabbage), a couple of cronic sushi rolls, and there was a special lemon creme brûlée. Everyone enjoyed everything they ate, including my almost 3 year old grandson (they brought out a specially sliced fruit bowl for him). They offered many choices for kids, but he just wanted fruit. Hope you had as wonderful a Mother's Day as I did. Yes. We appreciated eating healthy and not walking away stuffed but instead satisfied. They were selling plants. So I bought 4 and planted them today! The gift that keeps on giving! We will be back for sure! With garlic, gusto & gratitude, Chef Marian

This was my second time here, and I love everything about this place. First of all, kudos to the bartender--I forgot her name, but she was incredibly generous and kind. She accidentally forgot my drink and kept apologizing, but I told her it was totally fine since we had a large party. To make up for it, she gave me two shots instead of one and even added a big discount. The ambiance of this place is unique and very artsy. If you're looking for a cool, one-of-a-kind spot to hang out, this is it. There's so much attention to detail throughout--even the restroom door is thoughtfully designed with a modern, creative touch. My friend ordered a variety of cocktails, and everyone enjoyed them. The food was great as well. I ordered the hummus plate, and it was the best I've ever had--so fresh and served in a generous portion. My friends tried the pizza and a few other items from the menu, and everything got a thumbs up. If you're in the area looking for a cool place to hang out or planning a party, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back again soon.

First off, they have a "wait to be seated" sign at their entrance, but it took a while to get anyone to seat us. When we were inside, we noticed there was another entrance and people were just walking in, so "waiting to be seated" was just an option? We ordered a beer and seltzer and it took easily 10-15 minutes to get our drinks. Drinks that were in cans by the way. Music was good, DJs were good, but the whole vibe of the place is kinda everywhere. This lighting in this place needs to be more dimmed. DJs are spinning right in the middle of the room, and there's a clothes rack just chilling against the wall. The baristas are way in the back, and you can't really tell who works there. It took equally as long to get the check as it did to get my drinks. We only had 1 round of drinks. I dunno, waiting for canned drinks just threw me off. I can't imagine how much longer it would have taken to get a mixed cocktail. I only saw one guy mixing drinks and a bunch of women just hanging around. I'm assuming workers that look like they don't work there.
