Absolutely love going to Bluewater Grill. The service is always great, and the ambiance is hard to beat. We sat outside on the patio--it was heated, and they even provided blankets, which made a huge difference since it was a little chilly. The oysters were fantastic, and the seared ahi tuna over rice with green beans was delicious. The "dirt with worms" dessert was a big hit with the kids, and the crème brûlée is a must-try. It's perfect to enjoy there or take home, and portions are generous. I frequent this location for the fish market and the happy hour. Also, I've ordered the Java Mud Pie for various occasions; make sure to order ahead for an entire pie. The pictures will convince you, trust me. It's hard to resist. They recently started selling sushi, so I need to try it during my next visit. They have a nice variety of seafood dishes, salads, and appetizers. Favorites include clam chowder, crab cakes, calamari, oysters, fresh fish entrées, and fish tacos, with classic desserts too. There's plenty of indoor seating plus a nice outdoor patio, which makes it a great spot to dine. The patio is heated and pet friendly too. I've been thinking about the trout for a month so when I got off work, I drove straight there. I work in San Marcos. When I arrived, I got great parking. I walk in and the hostess is seating me at a table and to the right there's one booth open against the wall and two booths dirty, nobody in them. I asked can I have a booth instead and she kind of giggled and said no. She offered me a seat outside. The fisherman's plate was bad with 2 little scallops, cold stale fries, and had better fried cod at Long John Silver :) I also tasted the misoyaki butterfish which was tough and the rice undercooked and not soft as it should be. Sufficient amount of shrimp, could perhaps added a few more pieces of scallops. Overall, the pasta entree was flavored and cooked well. The meals for the kids were bento box style. Definitely a bargain and lots of food. Main entree, two fruits (strawberries/oranges) and a drink. One opted for the panko fried shrimp and the cheeseburger slider for the other. They have a great happy hour. That is an amazing deal for the quality of the food. You can also buy a fresh fish at their fish counter. Scrolling through yelp found this place for an early dinner. It didn't disappoint. Looked small from the outside - but it's actually a lot larger. Inside and outside seating with a beautiful bar. We didn't realize the train track with a loud horn is right there- but doesn't last only a few seconds. I ordered walnut crusted halibut with lemon capers. It came with a side asparagus and scalloped potatoes. Hubby ordered panned seared scallops which came with mushrooms, spinach and shallots. A wonderful tasting wine sauce. Bluewater weathered the storm and not only maintained my reservation without any hiccups but the restaurant itself was spotlessly clean and very well staffed for one of the busiest dining days of the year. Sat in the bar on a Friday night and it was still happy hour, we had a yummy beer and white wine, both which were on happy hour, then we shared two appetizers on the happy hour menu both of which were really good. Then we ordered the Halibut with blackened seasoning. Fish was amazing. We shared all three and it was A TON of food. There is some parking right in front of the restaurant in the lot, but also plenty of public parking around. Parking can be challenging on the weekends during the day. The service was great! We sat down right the way in a large table. The menu has a good selection of seafood options, grilled, seasoned, fried, sautéed. We ordered fish and chips (2 pieces) and prawn linguine. The fresh complimentary bread was excellent! Really great to see that to start the meal. Mt prawn linguine was well seasoned and shrimp was excellent. Very fresh and well seasoned and cooked. The linguine was overcooked, too soft, but overall, I enjoyed the plate. Unfortunately, the fish and chips was disappointing. Very heavy breaded with the batter, almost like a hotdog. I believe they can definitely do better than this. We will probably visit again, but choose other dishes. read more
