This spot is just across the street from the beach and has indoor and patio seating. It's connected to the hotel so very conveniently located. Menu had plenty of options and everything we ordered was delicious. The oysters were fresh and yummy. My favorite was the pear and prosciutto flatbread. It was full of flavor and amazing!!! Service was quick and friendly.

We stopped for a lunch by the ocean with our two dogs. They had a patio perfect for us where we could see the ocean. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We had calamari, Oysters Rockefeller and a French dip. We enjoyed everything only the French dip needed a harder roll, the hamburger bun was too soft. We'll be back.

Great place to have a drink with a view! Across from the beach and enjoyed an espresso martini . Quick service and would definitely come back for food.

For a Sunday brunch, this place was very open with lots of tables, though they had a hard time accommodating our group of 7 without blocking one of their many walkways. The food on the other hand sounded delicious on paper, but the execution was just meh. Everything lacked flavor. I wouldn't eat here again.

Great oceanfront spot!! Enjoy sitting on the patio and watch a great sunset. Delicious food and drinks and stay for the bar side after. Definitely will be back!

Food was good, and services was great and great view of the sunset A little need of repairs, not to clean in the patio But I only only sayin it could use a clean up and paint But I didn't pick this place

Dini's is our go-to beachside spot. It has its own parking, which is already a dream, and the ocean views are incredible. The happy hour is fab (get the nachos, but be careful .. they come out hot hot hot), and I love the blackened chicken salad. Or the salmon BLT. Honestly, it's all good. It's fun, it's beachy, it's local and it always hits the spot.

The clam chowder was the only thing we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the fish was extremely hard and tasted off/fishy/ hard to the point that we were uncomfortable eating it. My husband only took one bite before deciding to order more chowder instead. We barely touched our meals, and later that night he ended up getting sick and was throwing up all night. Really disappointing experience, especially for a seafood restaurant. Tartar sauce also wasn't good and I love tartar sauce. Maybe check out the harbor fish cafe right up the street .

Staff is warm and attentive, good restaurant and bar with outdoor seating viewing the ocean, patio is great for watching sunset. Eggs Benedict was good, the potatoes are flavorful and the feta cheese and green onions add great flavor

Dini's is a classic gem in Carlsbad. The food is amazing. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. Get there a little early and try to snag a patio seat for the best sunset in town. You won't be disappointed.

We've ended up here every time when visiting the area. The view, being right across from the ocean. Back patio has literally the best sunset view in town. Such chill, beachy community energy that it just feels right to be there. Anyway after three wonderful experiences, I decided I should leave a review. I even took photos to share with you all because yes it's that good. Okay so far we've always sat in the back patio and timed dinner with the sunset. Happy hour though is killer and ends at 6pm. So you can make both happen. Literally craved the same things every time, so figured why switch it up now! Ceviche, Clam Chowder, Steamed Bucket which is mussels, clams in this delicious broth with parsley and shallots. Placed underneath the shells is pasta and it comes with delicious garlic bread. My compliments to the kitchen... Then to end it all nice and sweet they have a lovely Crème Brulee... Menu says desserts are made in house. Can't say enough great things about this place and yes I'll continue to dine here, when we're in town. Might even try something new next time but that's just a might.

Awesome visit! Great food, great service, and great view. Large restaurant to accommodate the crowd. Food was served pretty fast. The clam chowder bread bowl and garlic bread was delicious. The classic Breakfast pick with egg whites, pancake, and potatoes was really good. Nothing bad about this place so go check it out.

Popped in for a last min dinner on a Sunday night around 7, party of 2.5 While it wasn't crazy busy, it was pleasantly full for a Sunday night in the off season. We were greeted and seated right away and accommodated with a high chair as well. Came in for the clam chowder and some other goodies, perused the menu and the seafood looked delicious but was in the mood for a burger! Snagged a bowl and cup of fresh homemade chowder, it was nice and light, fresh veggies and although the cup was def more a tasting size, next time I'll opt for the bowl. They also offer a bread bowl. Decided on splitting the burger and while everything was fresh, I'll probably skip that next time and try some of the seafood options. The desserts were also made in house and while normally I am not a creme brulee kinda gal this one had strawberries and whipped cream which caught my eye and it did not disappoint! Come to find out when they make it, they boil a huge pot of vanilla and make the kitchen smell wonderful. That comment made me feel warm and cozy on top of the delicious fresh taste the dessert provided. The server was kind and knowledgeable and even welcomed us to the neighborhood! Can't wait to try more on the menu.

Ask the Community - Dini's By The Sea

Reservations Sunday mornings?

Is the patio pet friendly?

Yes! I recall seeing doggies when we dined in the patio. Happy eating!

Do they still play taps at sunset?

No they do not. I just called them right now to confirm.

Are dogs allowed in the patio area?

Hi Tiffany, Yes, all of our patios are dog friendly :)

Do you provide gluten-free options?

I keep trying to call and the number is not in service. Is this an error ? I'm trying to make a reservation.

I don't believe they take reservations. But don't let that detour you.

How do you make reservation/are they accepting reservations?

They only accept reservations for parties of 10 or more. Smaller groups only accepted as walk-ins.

FOOD: - hot potatoes: has a pickled radish and some sort of crème sauce that was so good - these were my husband's favorite. - chicken satay: It came with pickled cucumber (think when it's cucumber kimchi, but it wasn't a kimchi type of marinade). The peanut sauce had a little spice (if you don't have any spice tolerance I would avoid the sauce, but it was sooo good). This was my favorite. - khao soi curry (has egg noodles) and that was delicious. We added the brisket to it which was a good add. My husband ate his so fast and I had to make him not take any more so we could have leftovers! DRINKS: - we got complimentary champagne for our anniversary which was so so sweet of them and made our night! The champagne itself was actually one of the best champagnes I have had. It had a nice sweetness to it. - my husband had the thai lager, which he said was okay. It tasted like most lagers he's had. - we shared the tangerine you are my sex machine as it sounded interesting and i do have to say this was the only thing we weren't big fans of. it was very smokey, but my husband put "old boat motor" in my head and that's all we could taste. if you love smokey drinks this would be for you. - I had a house cocktail that I cannot remember the name of for the life of me, but it was sweet, peachy (I think) and had champagne in it from what I remember. It was so good and would get it again! The vibe inside the restaurant was cool and there are over 30 tigers (our server counted for us, but she said she couldn't even find them all). The bathrooms were cute and very clean. 10/10 recommend. The check even came in a romance novel!

I think everything really complimented each other well from the music to the art to the menu, it was great! Our server was nice as we were indecisive with even such a small menu, we had a hard time. The drinks were good and strong, unique and creative. Which I guess when you're going out and want to stay on theme, it works. We had the coconut broth hamachi which was so lip-smackingly addictive with those wonton chips! I would come back just for that dish! The chicken satay skewers were also delicious and the sauce that came with it was a good mix of sweet, savory, spicy and salty. I do think from there it was kind of just okay? I got the half fried chicken which smelled a fish sauce glaze and that's what I went in expecting but there was no punch of that fish sauce flavor you know? It needed a bit more pop. BF got the pork belly banh mi bowl which I guess in theory why would you get that at a Thai place? But the pork belly was hard and firm, not as you'd expect it to be which was dissapointing. Our friends got the Khao Soi which was delicious I do have to say and the Panang with Brisket. I think it was cool to try but im just stuck in my ways and prefer the ole mom and pop down the road with more options. But its fun for a night out!

Fat succulent burgers, and fries, total of 15 bucks. Can't beat that. The vibe of the place felt like a well, a tavern. Inside and outside options with semi comfortable seating. Great wine menu and decent beer on tap. Only downside is I didn't see a beer menu, so I had to look to see what they had on tap at the bar.

AT THE INTERSECTION OF REGRET AND REMORSE…read more At what point does a cover charge become just a discrete way of saying "you're not welcome, only tolerated"? Nothing humbles you faster than paying a $40 daytime 'cover charge' to sit uncomfortably with alchy-bros and their untreated mental health issues. We came to this Irish Tavern because...well... St. Patricks Day. The bouncer wouldn't let us in until we paid the extortion. It's no wonder millennials are broke. I didn't really wanna pay, but we found such a great parking spot... He took my cash and stuffed it in his pocket. For $40, we assumed something legendary was awaiting us inside. Is Cillian Murphy here? Or maybe a Glen Hansard cover band.? At the very least a Conan O'Brien blowup doll? Nope... just canned music playing over speakers that crackled like grandpa's radio. So there's no band... But, for $40 there better be at least something I haven't seen before. Perhaps they've summoned St. Patrick from the dead? Or figured out how to make everyone's red flags visually appear. Or how to uncrack an egg... Something! But nope, it was just like a regular day that wasn't $40 to get in. And here's the thing: the food and drink are ALSO more expensive than usual! So they already fleeced me for $40, and now two drinks are also $40? Two corned beef plates: another $50!? It was average to below average. It was like they took every Irish Tavern in the world, put 'em all in a blender, and hit puree. It was just... easy-to-chew mediocrity. Honestly, I've been to better pubs at Holiday Inn. As we walked out, the same bouncer was still collecting his shakedown fees. But this time the cover charge was only $10. Only 45 minutes later, the cover charge for the privilege of... well nothing... lowered exponentially!?! This isn't an Irish tavern, this is a scam with a jukebox. Pro tip: I've paid $40 for many things. A glow-in-the-dark toilet seat. A Texas-shaped waffle maker. A desktop punching bag for when Yelp takes down my reviews. But I'd rather pay $40 to NOT go to a mediocre Irish bar. Next year, I'm staying home to enjoy a $3 Guinness in my garage. No cover. Curated playlist. Parking's up front. Just me, my red flags, and zero regret.
