OMNI FAMILIES BE WARNED - RAW SEAFOOD AND AWFUL SERVICE Awful experience from the jump. Waiter took 15 minutes to even acknowledge our existence. We ordered 2 apple juices (kids) a Kettle One Martini and Guava Margarita. Marg was basically guava syrup with a dash of tequila, and the martini was heavy on the vermouth. We ordered the fritto misto and it arrived greasy and rubbery, but we were so hungry we just sucked it up and anssumed we ordered poorly. Our kids food arrived - they got Mac n cheese and butter noodles. Two bullet proof dishes that these goofballs at Vue somehow still manage to screw up. About 20 minutes had passed since our waiter took our food order and we sat there with empty water and drink glasses. Was hoping to just get a glass of wine but never saw the waiter until much later. When the food arrived, I got the shrimp piccata pasta and it showed up as dried / overcooked shrimp, steamed vegetables on top of mushy noodles sitting in about a 1/2 inch of water - not broth or sauce but water from the steamed vegetables. My wife got scallops and one was raw in the middle. We waited about 10 minutes and still never saw our waiter, so we flagged a different one down. By the time our waiter did come back I tried explaining what happened and he just said "let's just bring you the check" lol. Then, I had to argue why we wanted the two unconsumed, inedible dishes taken off the bill. Not once was there an apology or any kind of reconciliation for the pathetic excuse for a dining experience. I'm shocked Omni is willing to put up with this kind of service provider. read more

We had three fantastic breakfasts/brunch at Vue. Service was outstanding, never a half filled cup of coffee. The outdoor seating with view of the golf course is serene. I started with an over the top bloody mary garnished with bacon shrimp olive lemon and lime. One morning had a welcome a slice of jalapeño. Food wise I had a super tasty chicken sandwich. Nicely fried crispy chicken on big brioche bun loaded with excellent slaw. The side salad was particularly good with nice lettuce mix, cucumber, grape tomatoes & vinaigrette. Server had no blue cheese dressing, but offered some crumbles. 2nd day I ordered the dbl smash burger. Same bun with extra choice meat seared well. Same salad & crumbles. Two for Two for sure. My wife enjoyed an egg white omelette back to back and raved about it. A significant protein pouch loaded with vegg. The last day we both had Eggs Benedict. I doubled up on the poached eggs, asked for muffin toasted well and added a (generous) side of very scrumptious bacon. SCORE! My wife was not as pleased, due to a smallish portion comparatively. An impromptu fitness class ruined the vibe and view that last morning. That was an unwelcome surprise. read more

We came here for breakfast every morning while we were staying at the Omni La costa. wait staff was very attentive. Food was surprisingly delicious. I got the egg white omelette every morning. Husband got the burrito or the egg Benedict. The kids got a combination of the del so platter (scrambled eggs meh would get fried eggs in the future) or the açaí bowl, oatmeal or yogurt. Açaí was hit and miss, one day it was really soupy, maybe get it without the matcha I think that's what turned it into soup. The prices are typical for resort. For my kids, the $17 kids buffet was not appetizing for them (scrambled eggs, pancakes with toppings, bacon and sausages) so they ordered off the adult menu instead. read more

We booked a reservation at the Vue for Easter for a nice view, good food and service but only the view was really good. Ordered classic Eggs Benedict and a side short stack pancakes. Portion size very small for the price, short stack pancakes were 2. Quality of the food was pretty good and the pancakes were very good. Service unfortunately was very lacking, server took our order and that's it. We sat with empty coffee and water for almost our whole meal and that's after asking twice multiple people for refills. Our server finally came back around after we were done and asked if we needed anything else, really? Isn't it normal to stop by after the food is brought, oh well next time will go somewhere else. read more

For sides, we ordered calamari and lobster mac and I must say the lobster was super amazing! Service was by far one of the best I've had. I went there to celebrate a big milestone birthday with some girlfriends and they brought out all the desserts possible including gelato. Ambiance was top notch. Located in the Omni La Costs Resort. Beautiful, gorgeous view with outdoor seating. Overlooks the gold course. Celebrated my dad's birthday with a party of 16. Service was superior. Plates were generous and delicious. Also, plated very pretty and huge portions. I ordered the steak salad. It had tons of steak pieces and bacon strip pieces topped off with crispy onions. As appetizers, we had the bread and butter (whipped was nicely spread and garnished with flowers). The butter was light you could eat it off a spoon...lol. We also had the shrimp ceviche. Shrimp was petite with chunks of avocado. It was okay, not spicy enough for me. The mussels and broth was so flavorful and a popular amongst our party. They provide birthday cake and the cake was beautiful. I wish I took a picture of it, was round and double layer chocolate. They dressed it up so nicely and memorable for my dad. Would definitely come here again. It's a great staycation venue too. I've stayed with my husband for his birthday and brought our puppy for a weekend stay and the service was impeccable. Came here for lunch one day and it was kind of disappointing. The service was nonexistent, had to wait a while just to order. Then the food room 30min to come out which is very slow. I ordered the short rib and eggs and the short rib was super dry and salty already, it was sitting in a pool of super salty spicy salsa that completely destroyed the flavor of the short rib. Small portion sizes. Service throughout was terrible, drinks and water never refilled, never saw our server after we got our food. Don't know what service we are paying for. Vue has an absolutely gorgeous patio, and if weather permits, I highly recommend taking advantage of it! Most of the menu that I've tried is delicious but not life changingly so. I'd pass on the sushi next time, but the scallops are delicious! They were well made, seared with a crispy top, and had a great texture. This is my second time in a week going to Vue. Again the food was incomparable. The charred lime mint aguachile was a better version of shrimp ceviche. The tajin gave it a little kick and because the rock shrimp were whole it stayed on the tortilla chips better. The chicken lollipops we're also very tasty. There were four of them-perfect for our party of four. I'm normally not a fan of chipotle. However, the blend was just right to give the taste buds an awakening but not kick them out of bed. I had the flat iron steak which was cooked to perfection. It was covered with the best green chimichurri sauce I've ever had in my life! It was rough cut not pureed. I had to get a separate ramekin of it because every one of the table wanted to dip there food in it after I gave them a taste of my steak. Again the the broccolini and the smashed potatoes underneath or cooked perfectly. I also have to give a shout out to Jayden who was an amazing, personable, attentive and very knowledgeable waitperson. I'm sorry I forgot to take pictures. We had our Christmas dinner at VUE last night. The food was HORRIBLE to say the least. The risotto was mushy and brown, the steak was raw and the ramen had no flavor. The chicken looked like something you would scrape off your shoe. The lights were SO bright, you felt like you were in a cafeteria. But be prepared for the higher than usual costs for typical dishes because you're definitely paying for the "vues" here. We've had breakfast here twice while staying at the Omni and both times we've been blown away by the quality and presentation of the food. The service is wonderful too with the nicest servers. Just look at that açaí bowl in the picture. It's too pretty to eat but it was tasty too. Their buttermilk pancakes were simple and old fashioned but so soft and yummy. The first day we ordered their La Costa morning breakfast and it had a little bit of everything. Definitely worth it as you get to try their Amazzzzzzing avocado toast! I think the outside area is the best part about the restaurant! We came during a jazz festival & were able to listen/watch the band play while we had dinner. -Food:3.5 stars It was good but it wasn't great considering prices. What kept me from giving 4 stars is how slow the service was. It took forever to get my kids' meal, and it was the first thing we ordered when we sat down. Did I mention we came for dinner? I ate here during my first night on my own, i ate breakfast with my boss one morning, and I also attended a vendor dinner here as well. Every time I ate here, the service was excellent. They go above and beyond for their patrons. In one dinner, one of the attendees has an issue of having a lot of different food allergies, and they worked with the person to find something on the menu you could have safely. My first night, I ate at the outside area. It has breathtaking views of Carlsbad. You can see it beautifully light up at night, theres bonfires also nearby. I had a nice beer, while I let myself get lost in the beauty. I did order food as well though. I got a New York strip steak in black garlic sauce with mashed potatoes which was exquisite. The steak was perfection, the mashed potatoes creamy. My second time, I ate breakfast with my boss in the inside portion of the restaurant. I ordered eggs benedict, and they were delicious. Again, service was impeccable. My last time eating at Vue was at the vendor dinner. We started with some appetizers which included jumbo prawns, which were so succulent. I had been craving chicken, so I went with some fried chicken and mashed potatoes. The fried chicken was very juicy. If you are staying at the Omni La Costa, I would recommend eating at Vue! Not the worst but definitely close. Upon being seated immediately asked what I would like to drink and replied I need a few minutes....waitstaff didnt come back for 15 minutes. Finally able to order tea and it was brought quickly but with no cream. Nobody picked up the empty tea cup, saucer or hot water throughout the entire meal even while we ate appetizers and mains. Staff seemed unsure of how to properly serve, and one wore the same gloves the entire time we were there. Foot was typical tourist fare. Champagne was crap. My husband and mother in law seemed to like their meals (curry and blackened salmon) but my tri tip sandwich wasn't great. It was overly salty and didn't have any other flavor. I asked for more horseradish cream and was given a side of straight horseradish. Service was a bit slow, drinks overpriced. I loved the view and the little green area out front for kids to run around. I don;t often rave about Avocado Toast, but come on!! This is incredible. The Avo Toast came with a lightly poached egg and just the right amount of Avo, hot pepper sauce and cilantro. This is one of the restaurants located at the Omni Resort. If you sit outside you will get some pretty nice views of the golf course! The breakfast sandwich I got was rather good! I liked the bacon as it wasn't soggy or too soft. The breakfast potatoes were really good with the ketchup. They are the soft kinds though not crunchy. For the sandwich, the egg unfortunately popped and I got the yolk all over the place but I had enough bread to help sop up the yolk. The flavors were good and savory and I liked the sauce. Coffee and juice are not complimentary so if they offer you some and you don't want to pay just say no thanks. read more

Normally a resort restaurant would not be a great review but Vue is different. At a resort where wellness is a goal and employees are career workers, Vue is a pleasure. We had the fish tacos and impossible burger. Both were excellent and I'd eat either again The additional impressive process shown at Vue was how all the employees worked together. Multiple servers came up to ask how we were, drop off food, fill drinks and take care of us at all opportunities. The restaurant Vue was as much of a reason to stay at this Omni resort as the rest of the facility. read more
