First time visiting this location. A friend and I had lunch. I'm glad I made a reservation because the indoor seating was fully booked by the time I checked in. To me, the food was 3.5 to 4 stars. I ordered the thai and basil soda mocktail which was super refreshing and not too sweet! The spicy tuna and crispy rice was really good! I ordered the harvest bowl ($26) and added 3 oz. of steak for an additional $15. I didn't think that was a good value for roasted veggies and a small portion of steak. Some of the steak was extremely chewy as well. My friend said the hot honey chicken sandwich was good but there was a lot going on. I did take a bite of the molten butter cake while it was hot and fresh (I ordered it to-go) and the caramel really elevated the cake. Five stars for ambiance and service. Came in for lunch w friends for the first time after reading great reviews. Seated in a big and comfortable booth. I ordered the seared tuna chop salad which was so delicious! Nice bite sized pieces of tuna, snap peas, cashews and avocado mixed with a delicious sesame vinaigrette. I'd come back just for this salad again. My only complaint was our waitress never offered to refill my iced tea. However she did allow us to sit and chat for awhile without feeling pressured to leave, which was nice. If I could give zero stars I would. We recently visited during the week for an early dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated on the patio--which was fine because we had our 2 year old with us--but it was 80 degrees out and not a lot of air flow. Our server's name was Kyra or Kyla--I'm not too sure because it was hard to hear her over the music playing. She was nice enough but there must've been sort of disconnect with our toddler's meal. Either she forgot to put it in the POS system and asked the kitchen to quick fire it or the kitchen was in the weeds and we weren't made aware of the situation. Nonetheless, we purposely put the kid's burger in when we put our appetizer in. Her burger didn't come out until 45 minutes after the appetizer got to our table! I'm not exaggerating either--515 we got our fries and then at 6pm a child's hamburger...on a Tuesday! Our entrees were finished and we asked for the bill before it even came out. I shouldn't have had to check on it as a server's job is to know what your table has ordered and make sure it actually gets to the table. I'm extremely disappointed that there was no apology, no discount or comp. to our meal because of this mistake. We won't be returning. read more

We came for a birthday. It's a really cute place and a new so super clean as well. The service was solid. These are the dishes we had. Seabass Korean steak. Fried chicken House salad and shrimp cocktail. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I love dim lighting but it was almost too dark for eating. Maybe an additional lamp in the table? We had a lovely dinner with friends last night! Everyone enjoyed their meal and they were very accommodating to my gluten allergy. The Artichoke Ricotta dip did not list as GF but when asked they swapped the bread for a crudités of cucumber carrot and snap pea! Delish! We also shared the chilled shrimp which was also yummy! For mains we had The Sea Bass, Korean Skirt Steak, Chicken frites and the house salad with avocado! We stopped by for Easter brunch. For the holiday, they had their usual brunch menu along with a special cinnamon roll. Service was good, and even though they were pretty busy, they still checked in on us throughout the meal. Our group ordered the cinnamon roll, short rib potstickers, turkey melt French dip, wagyu cheeseburger, and a toasted bagel with cream cheese with a side of bacon and potatoes. We also got coffee lattes (the Rocket, the Cleo, and the Wildflower). Everything was delicious! Our favorite was definitely the cinnamon roll. It was so fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. Honestly, it was one of the best cinnamon rolls we've ever had. They only have it on special occasions, so if you happen to stop by when it's available, I highly recommend getting it. The short rib in the potstickers was super tender, and the house-made wrapper made them melt in your mouth, especially with the ponzu sauce. The burger was juicy and flavorful, and the French dip was meaty with an au jus that was a total flavor bomb. The coffee drinks were strong, delicious, and not overly sweet. I came for brunch with a group of friends after a pickleball game. It was my first time here and now a new favorite breakfast place. We ordered some appetizers such as the parmesan truffle fries, potstickers, chilled shrimp, some matcha and coffee lattes and a couple of breakfast items like the eggs benedict, flower child scramble and the cinnamon french toast. We went to The Henry for the first time for our anniversary dinner. They gave us a card wishing us a happy anniversary, which I thought was thoughtful. The service we received by our server was exceptional as well. Overall, the food is delicious. However, the portion sizes for the price are disproportionate and too small. - Umami Brussels Sprouts $15 - these were delicious! Would reorder & a good price point. - Pressed Yellowtail Sushi $22 - great, the yellowtail melted in your mouth. - Braised Short Rib $39 - yummy, on the smaller side. - Korean Prime Skirt Steak $43 - delicious, but such a small portion. - Mac & Cheese side $11 - good but SO TINY! Typically sides are shareable, but this was smaller than a kids meal. It was shocking how little your receive and it's definitely not shareable. - Molten Butter Cake $15 - a disappointment. I thought "molten" meant it had a filling inside, but no. It's just a normal butter cake. Would not reorder. The environment and ambiance was nice and a perfect date night. This place didn't open that long ago and they're always crazy busy so if you don't have a reservation for dinner, good luck, but you could probably sneak by for an early brunch or breakfast for brunch. I really love their iced coffees. I think they are phenomenal. I brought my brother here and he's somewhat of a coffee snob and he loved it too. That being said I'm not a huge breakfast food person so I can't tell you that their brunch is life-changing food wise, but it is well worth it for the Coffee and we've come here for dinner. One time as well and dinner was really good. Their martini was delicious. I've also come a couple of times to just sit at the bar solo before an appointment somewhere else and the bartenders are always super kind and they make a great drink. Great experience on a Saturday night. Went @ around 5:30pm. We got to sit on the patio section. I was afraid it would be too cold, but surprisingly the heaters keep the patio area really nice and warm. I noticed they also provide you with small blankets if you ask them. We got a server that was in training, and she was extremely sweet and efficient. I forgot to get her name, but the whole staff were excellent. I had my all time favorite harvest bowl and a winter sangria. Food arrived really fast and drink was perfect. This was my first time at the Carlsbad location, I usually go to the on in Coronado. Been here a few times now and had an early birthday dinner here, where I was given a card and free champagne. It was very cool of them. I also had the option of picking out a dessert with a candle for my birthday. My kids love the sushi and crab cakes here. They also love the potatoes here: truffle fries, mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes were all delicious. I loved the crab cakes, the tuna crudo, and the roasted chicken. We've sat inside as well as outdoors and I don't think you can go wrong with either. They had the heat lamps on for outdoors and so it didn't feel like we were outdoors. The burger was disappointing the bun was dry and had a strong burnt taste. The Caesar salad was decent. The spicy tuna was almost good but the bottom was a bit dry and there was a little too much mayo. The cocktails were tasty, and parking is easy with plenty of space. We were very curious, since it took the place of Panera (casual eatery with great seating and conversing, no waiter, stay as long as you want, go back for more etc). I was a bit disappointed that it was a couple levels higher as a restaurant, has a wait for seating if you go at a popular time and is a LOT pricier. Service: The wait staff is super helpful, knowledgeable and hyped up. They suggest items and encourage you to try as much as possible. Our waiter explained that they (wait staff) were all highly trained and that the cook is NO NONSENSE. Which I love. Food: That being said, our food was very good. I got the Roasted Chicken and Avocado Salad, which was wonderful. Fresh and crispy with house made croutons and wonderfully colorful. I'd get it again ... but a bit expensive. My hubby ordered the All American Burger. It was a great burger ... but nothing extra special (in his words). Meh. Again, a bit expensive. Drink: I ordered a diet Coke, which was hardly bubbly - quite dead in fact. I told the waiter, who apologized and asked if I wanted another. Of course I said, 'no', pouring another one isn't going to change their proportions. I hate this. When I get a diet soda, I want it lively! Well, he brought me a specialty drink as an apology, the Honeydew Highball (non alcoholic). I appreciated that, it was great wonderful - except it wasn't sugar-free, of course. Oh well, it was a nice gesture, and I appreciated that. Dessert: We tried the Molten Butter Cake because it was highlighted on the menu and we wanted to try their 'signature' dessert. The waiter raved about it. When it came to the table, the waitress poured warm caramel over the vanilla gelato. Impressive! The gelato and carmel were amazing, but when it came to the cake, it was so-so. Not like our favorite warm butter cake at another favorite restaurant. At all. I won't get it again. The small bar was lively - we sat near it. The atmosphere was fun, clean and comfortable. Overall, it was a nice place for maybe a couple times a year. We wish it was more of a neighborhood restaurant where you can bring your kids once every couple weeks. It's not real kid-friendly in our opinion. There you have it. The Henry has become one of my go-to spots in Carlsbad. Every time I come in, the food is consistently on point and the vibe is always right. If you haven't tried the spicy tuna crispy rice, do yourself a favor and order it. It's the kind of dish that made me stop looking at the rest of the menu for a while because I couldn't not get it. And I have to shout out the rocket coffee. It's amazing. I've had it hot and shaken chilled, both are great options. Beyond the food, the staff here really sets the tone. The servers are always attentive and friendly, and the manager on duty has been great every time I've been in. You can tell the team actually cares about the experience, and that goes a long way. Then we had a skirt steak, short rib, and burgers. All were very good. Service was great too. Non alcoholic drinks were so fresh and delicious. Cons: You never hear me complain about potion sizes. I'm definitely quality over quantity. So when I can eat all my plate and I'm still hungry you know it's small. The app was not enough to even share with one person. As you can see, I am not lying when I say this is truly my boyfriend and I's favorite place to eat at the moment. We decided to do a movie at Cinepolis yesterday and wanted to grab brunch beforehand. Since this place is always busy (for good reason) I made reservations on OpenTable so that we can experience regular indoor table seating (we always sit at the bar). Our reservations were for 11:30am, Sunday March 23rd, and we arrived to the parking lot 10min early. I found that the BEST place to find parking is to the left after immediately pulling into the Forum Parking Lot (Near Jimbos). There were ample parking spaces to choose from! We arrived at the hostess desk 2 minutes early and both ladies were, as always, so welcoming. They checked us in and quickly guided us to our table. Now...this table location was the absolutely perfect spot for viewing the restaurant. It was towards the back wall nearest the mirrors with writing all over them, and a 2-top that was part of a booth that lined the backwall. Essentially you shared the booth seating with others but the space between each table was far spread enough to where you werent joining in on Susan's 55th birthday party next to you haha! My boyfriend and I loved it. He took the chair seating that was across from my booth seat and our table was a small but mighty size with an adorable touch-activated lamp in the middle which im sure adds some romance in the evening. After admiring our location...our waitress walked up to greet us and introduce herself. Her name was Kayla, and she was AMAZING! She left us with the pretty green leather drink menu so we could peruse to make our decision and also asked if she can get us anything in the meantime. I quickly replied with the spicy tuna & crispy rice appetizer (because its my favorite). Kayla was honestly all smiles, and so sweet she left and got that order put in...then came back within a few minutes for drink orders and entrees. I ordered the wildflower coffee again and also a 9oz. Pour of their Reisling & and my boyfriend ordered an Old Fashioned. The coffee was just as good as I remembered... the Reisling is not a dry one and definitely leans on the slightly sweeter end of the scale (I loved it). They only have one Reisling option, so if you want a white wine that isnt bitter or dry? Go with this. The old fashioned was DELICIOUS ...one that you find yourself sipping on constantly. They even brand their "H" into the ice cube! It's honestly the little things that always amaze me here. For entrees, I went with the Bolognese and my boyfriend went with the Korean Strip Steak. Our appetizer came out shortly after our drinks & our food took a bit longer just like other times we visited BUT I will say they were always busy when this happens AND we werent waiting a horrendous amount of time. Think about freshly made items and how long they take to make and then add 15 minutes on top of that. If im being honest with the enjoyment of our beverages and just looking around the room...you lose track of time anyways! Since we ordered these entrees before...we knew what taste we were looking for in each...and I dont know how but both of our orders were even better than the first time we had them. I have no clue how but again, we were happy...Kayla made it a point to make her rounds to check on us to the point where I didn't have to worry if I needed something. I knew she would be by shortly to see if things were okay, and we loved that! Kayla you're an MVP! We finished our meals, asked for our check and then were visited by who I think was the manager or supervisor on duty that day. She was VERY nice and kind and asked how everything was. I told her obviously, how amazing things were, and she was so happy to hear that. She thanked us for coming in and wished us a good day! This was the first time this happened, so we were happy to see that. After saying goodbye to Kayla, we were again thanked for coming in by the hostesses and the same manager as we left. "Henry" Series, Part 1 So by a show of hands, how many of you just knew that the launching of this series was inevitable? ‍ I'd often thought of how much I'd like to explore this narrative, but just hadn't found the right opportunity to set it into motion. That all changed once I heard that "The Henry" was opening in North County San Diego. Although both breakfast and lunch options are available, it is while promoting the dinner experience that "The Henry" shines the brightest. When asked to capture why the nighttime ambiance feels so elevated two of our Review Team Members suggested that the true character of this space is only fully revealed by the warm lighting tones singularly reserved for the dinner patrons. These lighting differences create a slightly upscale, yet comfortably casual vibe. A place where your favorite pair of jeans seamlessly coexists with a designer martini. While settling in at your table I recommend an "Amalfi Spritz" or "Hank's House Blonde" to accompany your "Umami Brussel Sprouts", "Short Rib Potstickers", and/or "Pretzels & Provolone Fondue." When you get serious about entrees I'd recommend the "Scottish Salmon", "Bolognese", and/or "Korean Prime Skirt Steak." You won't want to end your night without including dessert and I'd recommend the "Warm Croissant Bread Pudding", "Chocolate Fudge Pie", and/or "Molten Butter Cake" (all of which pair nicely with a "Hank's Espresso Martini"). If you happen to be navigating the dating scene there is an intimate lounge area near the bar that offers a genteel atmosphere and the acoustics lend themselves well to determining just where this is, or is not, heading. Reservations are strongly recommended and your dinner experience here will not be inexpensive. I love this place! We came in for lunch - tip: if it's nice outside get the table on patio, it's so relaxing, shade from the sun yet fresh air and the noise around us was hardly noticeable. Lunch was turkey melts- tip: get arugula on sandwich just adds a little something. Get the fries very good.We split a sandwich and got crispy rice w tuna appetizer and short rib dumplings.
