Pros: Great coffee, we had a flat white and latte and both are very good. The atmosphere is cute, and has a variety of spaces to settle in. The gift shop is a nice touch, too. Cons: We came ready to get a full day of work done, bought our coffees and food and sat down, only to find they don't have wifi until 3 pm! I've literally never heard of such a strange thing. According to the staff, "the owner doesn't turn on the wifi until 3pm". What on earth? Basically, if you want to come and work you better have your own hotspot. Didn't know that before we arrived, and was pretty disappointed, so instead of working there for the day and spending more money on their food, we left early. Plus we were sitting down in the lower area on the couches and there was a strange odor that lingered around, so that wasn't exactly tempting us to stay. Also, they make all kinds of gluten-free muffins, but none are safe for those with allergies/gluten sensitivity, so what's the point?? Overall, the atmosphere and location are unique and it's worth a stop for the coffee itself. But it's got strange quirks!
Wonderful coffee, teas, and pastries. The Pannikin serves as a historic part of the community. The little Victorian house was built in the late 1800s for a train station. I have fond memories visiting this yellow house since childhood and will continue to pay homage while sipping on delicious tea.
Loved stopping in while driving down the coast. We were lucky enough to find parking on the street a little ways down. This place has seating everywhere, inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs... The menu is vast and baked goods a'plenty. I ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee and it's probably the best one I've ever had.. we also split one of their breakfast burritos and took a couple treats home for later. Service is quick and very attentive. Whoever makes your drink also takes your order. I loved this place and I wish it was closer.
The six of us really enjoyed our brunch here and loved the spacious outdoor patio, perfect for bringing our dogs along! Our San Diego local friends recommended this spot, and it turned out to be a great choice. The line to order was a bit long on a Sunday morning, but it was definitely worth the wait. I had the breakfast tacos, while my husband ordered the chicken sandwich and a breakfast burrito. Our friends enjoyed their quiche, pastries, coffee, and drinks, all delicious! The staff brings your order right to your table, which is a nice touch. I only wish I had more room to try a few more of their pastries! We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the San Diego area
I took my mom to Pannikin Coffee & Tea in Encinitas for Sunday brunch, and we had such a nice time! My mom immediately thought the place was adorable, and I have to agree. The fact that it's located in an old railroad station gives it so much character, and I love the relaxed, eclectic atmosphere. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, plus a cute little gift shop. Sunday was definitely busy and there was a long line when we arrived, but it moved surprisingly quickly. I ordered a café au lait and the lox bagel on an everything bagel. The lox came with fluffy, creamy cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, lots of capers, pepperoncini, and lemon. You do have to assemble it yourself, which got a little messy, but once I put everything together it was delicious and very filling. For around $15, I thought it was a good value. My mom originally wanted avocado toast, but they had run out of avocado, so she went with the ham bagel instead on a sun-dried tomato bagel. It was a good-sized sandwich with cream cheese and lots of sprouts, and she really enjoyed it. The menu is much bigger than I expected. They have loose-leaf teas, specialty coffee drinks, and an amazing-looking pastry selection with pies, bars, huge muffins, and gluten-free options. Some of their specialty drinks are pretty serious--the Jimi Hendrix has four shots of espresso! I'm not sure I'm brave enough for that one. It was a hot San Diego weekend, so sitting outside with a little cloud cover felt really nice. There were also lots of cyclists stopping in, which adds to the fun, casual neighborhood vibe. My one complaint is the flies around some of the outdoor seating. There are uncovered outdoor garbage bins, which seemed to attract quite a few flies. We probably could have chosen a different table, but covered bins would definitely help. And if you're not a fan of those big green beetles, just know they apparently like hanging out there too! There are two restrooms, and although there was a line on this busy Sunday, they were fairly clean. I've also visited during the week when it was much quieter, so if crowds aren't your thing, a weekday might be the better time to go. Overall, Pannikin has a great vibe, good coffee, filling food, tons of tempting pastries, cute gifts, and a really unique setting. I was happy to bring my mom here, and it turned out to be a really cute spot for a mother-daughter brunch. We'll definitely be back!

Please know that this café has no Wi-Fi, but it's intentional to focus on the present which I believe that we need time to time. I'd say it's one of those places that I would love to catch up with friends or just really focus on a book with a nice coffee and a pastry or breakfast. would come again.
Such a cute spot! My husband and I were visiting Encinitas CA for a wedding and stopped by this coffee shop one morning. Definitely a popular location as there were so many people gathered there! Though there was a line, the service was quick and everyone was friendly. I got an iced caramel latte with oat milk that throughly enjoyed. I also ordered scrambled eggs with cheese. I was a little disappointed with the eggs as the cheese was just sprinkled on the top and not mixed in. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would recommend this local spot!
Such a classic historical San Diego coffee shop serving up delicious drinks and bites. My top picks are the flat white latte and the Joey (coffee with butter to make it extra creamy). The pastry case is always filled with pies, cakes, freshly baked muffins. I appreciate how many different gluten free muffin flavors are available. The lemon poppyseed is tart and soft without being too sweet. The outdoor seating overlooks Highway 101 and is a relaxing place to enjoy your drinks. The only complaint is that the line can be very slow with the small space available for the baristas.

This place is a standard in San Diego County. If you are in North County Coastal San Diego (Encinitas), this is the place to go for a brew. I'm a strict black coffee or Americano drinker, no additions. Pannikin always nails it. The parking lot is on the smaller side and typically full. Street parking is key. Currently, they are doing a remodel inside so the coffee counter is out front. Great coffee, relaxed vibe, and a very comfortable place inside and out with plenty of seating. I sit out in the sun and people watch. Been coming here for decades. Super nice people serving here.
cruising up the PCH from the Seaside Market in Cardiff i glanced over my shoulder and saw a yellow looking house with a giant sign out front said Pannikin. Since i was driving I did not stare too long but noticed on the sign was a picture of a kettle. I was on route to Carlsbad when i decided to take a quick Uturn. I am a Tea Connoisseur so had to stop in to see what this place was about. immediatly walked into the loose leaf section and gawked at a wall of goodness. the lady working behind the counter was helpful with my questions and I got a lot of good intel about the area. I live 2 hours north so my Orange County weekends are more like vacations. I ended up getting a coconut ginger blend tea. it was as awesome as that sounds. I drank half of it hot and the other half over ice. both versions were delectable. I normally go for just natural nothing blended style teas but they had such an amazing variety i had to try this one. the interior vibes are so chill and relaxing. This place is Totally my cup O TEA! This is my favorite tea spot i have discovered yet. apparently they have several locations but i doubt they are as cool as this location. not too far from the ocean. There is plenty of parking and seating with a few porches.
Love this spot! I haven't eaten here yet because we arrived when it was about to close, someone had to use the bathroom haha. They were so sweet and let us! I've been to the other location several times and highly recommend this place! Love seeing it here in Oceanside! We will be back!

I met a colleague here for a meeting on a Tuesday afternoon. It was a beautiful day so we grabbed a table outside. They have lots of pastries, desserts and lunch offerings. We ordered two iced matchas with oat milk and a croissant. Service was quick and friendly. The same girl who took our order made our drinks. After a few minutes sitting outside, the wind picked up so we closed the umbrella so it wouldn't fall over on us. We wrapped up our meeting shortly after. Will be back when I'm in the area. read more

Was in the are and decided to try manikin for the first time for breakfast. It was a Sunday morning so pretty busy but the line wasn't too bad. I opted for soy chorizo breakfast tacos and a cappuccino. The breakfast tacos were essentially flavorless. The soy chorizo had almost not flavor, not even salt it seemed. I finished them all because I was very hungry, but otherwise, I would not get this again and felt that the price does not reflect the quality of food. The espresso in the cap tasted over extracted, so I didn't really enjoy it. Overall, k didn't like the coffee or the food I had. I would not come again unless they improved. I did like that the wait wasn't TOO bad and they have lots of seating. read more

I love Pannikin!! There's no other cafe that has this ambiance, truly one of a kind. I've tried so many things off their menu, there's nothing I wouldn't recommend. This was the first time I ordered the Yerba, quiche/salad combo, and chocolate cake! They were all super good. Quiche- perfect always Mango chutney chicken salad- sooo good I didn't even use the dressing that accompanied it! Chocolate cake- their cakes are always very sweet, dense, and huge I love coming here, it always makes my day with the bright exterior, vibrant community, and the huge menu for any mood. They also have a small gift shop area where you can buy the coffee, syrups, merch, or goodies. Parking: there's street parking and a lot right behind them but they all fill up quite quick! read more

Really cool, old-school coffee shop with tons of character. The interior is warm and nostalgic, with walls lined with jars of loose-leaf tea, vintage displays, local gifts, and even free stickers at the counter--which is a nice touch. Their tea selection is impressive, and the coffee itself is genuinely good. That said, service was noticeably slow, and the staff wasn't as welcoming as you'd typically expect from a neighborhood coffee spot with this kind of charm. The atmosphere and product quality are there, but the customer service could definitely match the vibe a bit more. Overall, still a solid stop if you appreciate character and quality drinks, just don't expect fast or overly friendly service. read more

Great atmosphere, fast service and have been coming here over the years. This was my first time here in probably 2 years. coffee and food prices have gone up since the OG days but so has everything. I got the $15 breakfast burrito and it was filling but small for the price. $13 PB banana toast is exactly that. Toast was over toasted and more like a cracker. I will stick to $9 drinks and fresh baked goods next time. Which I will gladly pay for a community space to meet friends and that's close to the 101! read more
Cool coffee shop housed in an attractive yellow house in Leucadia on the Coast Hwy. Looks like a train station. Large outside dining space. Lots of little tables inside. Can be very busy & you may have to wait in line during peak hours. Prices a bit high. They have an in house bakery with lots of choices Nice little gift area attached to the shop. Several coffee/tea options for sale along with jewelry, books & other trinkets. read more

I was looking for some loose leaf tea & came across this place. Decided to eat here as well. I had a jalapeño ham croissant that was super delicious, a GF pumpkin walnut muffin, & hot matcha. :) they had a variety of sweets as well. This place has a long line but moves quickly. Stopped for their carrot cake and coffee. Yum. The cake is HUGE. Enough for three people. Never ate their eggs or real food but looks good. Great place to stop if you are cycling. read more

Located along PCH, parking can be hard to find. The parking behind this converted house is small. It is worth it though. This gem has great vibes. There's outdoor seating, and a large indoor seating. They have a little boutique as well. Service was fast and friendly. I got baked goods to go. My favorites were the chocolate croissant and the apple pie. Yum! read more
This place is so cute. I love the yellow building so much, and the interior is also really charming--the simple, old-fashioned vibe put me in a good mood right away. I also liked the goods for sale right as you walk in. We ate outside on a nice day and it was lovely. However, it was hard to find parking--we had to park a few blocks away. I ordered an avocado toast which was decent--the balsamic was a nice touch. The lemon poppyseed loaf was super dense... my friend and I couldn't finish it. The iced chai was decent too. Overall, I recommend if you're looking to grab a breakfast/brunch with good vibes. read more

I ordered the Vietnamese Coffee, was pretty good but it was $9 which is a little steep for no add ons. Place seems to be pretty popular so the line was quite long, but once we got in they were pretty quick to take my order and make my drink. There's a super cute spot downstairs with a few seats! No complaints on the service, the ladies here are very sweet! read more

The breakfast burrito was packed with flavor. I went with the bacon, cheddar, and avocado, paired with a flat white. Everything was amazing. Service was quick, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The decor is fun and eclectic, with plenty to look at. You really can't miss the big yellow house (it adds to the charm) Just a heads-up: if you're looking for a study spot, this might not be the place. There's no WiFi and limited outlets. But it's definitely a great spot to visit, enjoy a bite, and hang out. read more

Pannikin is a place you should certainly make time for on your way to or from Encinitas. There's a cozy atmosphere. The selection of coffees and teas is wonderful and baked goods are scrumptious. The only drawback here is that this stop is reached Best Buy auto. So it's not near other stores where you can stop in for a respite while doing shopping or other activities. read more

What's not to love about Pannikin! It is located in the heart of Leucadia , in a cute and queen yellow house. They have a great coffee, and yummy pastries. There is minimal indoor seating, but lots of patio seating. They really stepped up their menu, and have all sorts of other breakfast and egg dishes as well. This is a local favorite, and they are making the names for themselves in San Diego, as more and more locations keep popping up! read more

I had a brief visit here a while back. I had driven by here multiple times and finally had time to stop by. This charming coastal coffee shop is set up inside the old train station for Encinitas. Love the interior and the decor. The building is opened up and very airy. The coastal breezes weave in and out keeping everyone comfortable. I wasn't looking for anything to eat so I of course had to try their Matcha. After I placed my order I discovered the global tea and coffee room. What a wonderful find. So many teas and coffees to choose from. They offer black teas, oolong, organic teas, green teas and some strong smelling coffee beans. All fresh and waiting for one to purchase. The outdoor sun-drenched patio was so inviting on the day I came, I truly enjoyed sitting outside and people watching. My only disappointment was my drink. I realize Matchas are not every coffee/tea places specialty but this one was just tasteless. Service was quick and efficient but not overly friendly. Glad I stopped by and perhaps I will return on another day to try some of their teas. These all looked really good. read more
