Fourtillfour is a cute Independant coffee shop at the intersection of N.Coast Hwy and Glaucus. It has Youthful and inviting vibes. The outdoor seating has picnic tables and barstools. I liked the vintage car they had, in addition to the fresh green plants which were very relaxing. The aroma of fresh coffee with fresh air created a very enjoyable atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu included drip coffee, cold brew, matcha, cappuccino, espresso, latte , assorted pastries, sandwiches and more. We ordered two Cappuccino and Iced caramel latte. Their cappuccino was rich and had velvety texture with an adorable heart design on the top. The caramel latte had the right amount of sweetness with strong coffee flavor. For breakfast, we ordered toasted asiago bagel with cream cheese. It was fresh savory, crispy from outside, light and chewy from inside. We also got a breakfast sandwich in a biscuit. The sandwich filling included eggs, Swiss cheese, arugula, bacon with light spread of cream cheese. It was fresh, savory and flavorful. I personally would not study here if I needed charging ports/quiet/ etc. Parking was fairly easy to find, it was just busy with the small Sunday market going on outside NOW ~ to the best part of this place, which was the service~ I normally never ask for a baristas name (bc it lowkey gives karen energy) but today the barista was so nice!!! It's an all-around enjoyable place to visit and here's why... With two locations, Leucadia and Scottsdale, Fourtilfour has created a community that celebrates vintage cars and great coffee, which can be appreciated by both visitors and locals alike. The staff is beyond friendly and the quintessential San Diego "chill" radiates throughout their open air cafe. A black Cafe Americano is my go-to beverage and they made it perfectly balanced. Who roasts their coffee does a phenomenal job. They also offer light breakfast bites, bagels, a few pastries and jam covered biscuits that I regret not trying. (Don't make that same mistake!) The inside is decorated with natural foliage and vintage car decor, making it a relaxing spot to sit in solitude or catch up with a friend. Be sure to check out the gift shop and take a bag of beans home with you. You'll want more of the good stuff! read more

Came here with some friends who often go to the Scottsdale location expecting great drinks but left slightly underwhelmed. I ordered the seasonal coconut vanilla matcha latte and it was alright. The coconut flavor was a little overpowering and it lacked the sweetness I felt it needed with the flavors but I think they may make matcha differently from what I prefer, or maybe missed the mark on this one. My friends who are frequent visitors said their lattes were not great and were a bit let down on the experience. I think the drinks didn't meet our expectations but I'm wondering if I should've tried something else. The ambiance however was great and the location was cute. I would walk past 5 coffee spots to come to this place for the last few years. Today it was $4.50 for drip. And no drip... just americano, thus no refill. That was my routine. It was cheaper than the other guys. And staff OK. Now they are on par with the other ones closer to Seabuffle to the north. An era has ended for me. Good atmosphere. Leucadia is boundless, where time is elastic, and apparently, the coffee game is as authentic as the Eucalyptus that line PCH. Attention to detail is paid, but not obsessed over, shedding light, not mastering. Fourtillfour is an interesting concept and perhaps wins for the cutest and most chill vibe around. The coffee is outstanding, tambien, and at 7am when they opened and when I arrived, it was hot, fresh and so clean, clean. Very cute and cozy spot in Encinitas. Decided to take my bike out with no destination and I ended up here. This coffee spot is in a little plaza with 3 other businesses. There was plenty of parking which I had no trouble finding. From the outside it looks like it's just a coffee stand you order and take to go but upon walking inside there is a decent size area with benches and tables to sit. There are also tables outside near the parking lot for more seating. Some of the other customers were there with their laptops. I ordered a cold brew the coffee tasted good and I also ordered the lemon poppy muffin since they were not serving their sandwiches and bagels anymore. I believe the employee told me they stop serving at 12. Would definitely come back to try the sandwiches! read more

Total hidden gem in Leucadia. I was planning to try this coffee shop for so long but is not precisely close of my usual path. However last week after my gym class I went all the way just to check it out and spend some time sketching there and trying their coffee. I was super enchanted with the whole car theme and the stories behind the car events they run there. The whole aesthetics of charcoal and lavender colors and even the cactus plants in coffee cans makes the place very 'manly' to me (in a great sense). Love the picnic tables, the flooring, the vibe...and of course the coffee. As artist myself, I love the mural artwork, so cool and fun. I spent a great time posing for cute selfies and also sketching the vintage car in front of me. Will go back soon. read more

Some businesses set up in so-called doomed locations. For reasons mysterious and unclear, they don't survive. Restaurants seem to be particularly vulnerable in this regard. In my hometown, a shop on the corner of Oxford and Center hosted at least six different eateries while I was growing up. In Encinitas, there are two spots: the site currently occupied by Chiko (which seems, thankfully, to have broken the curse) and now the one occupied Fourtillfour Cafe. Prior to its establishment about a month ago, there had been something like four different businesses here in as many years. This was particularly heartbreaking, since it is set in one of the increasingly rarer 101 strip malls that truly made funky Leucadia actually funky. It's a venue worth preserving. So chancing to see yet another business there and a coffee joint at that, I pulled in and entered the premises. One of the things that distinguishes the space is that there are no permanent structures. There's a deck in the back with a large awning and a small performance space (live music has been played at this venue in previous incarnations) and a trailer where to order food and drink. It is enclosed by a large fence and trees, with gravel crunching satisfyingly under foot. It is an extremely pleasant space to sit and chat, cut off a bit from the outside world. And the coffee? The judgment upon one cup is that it's pretty good. The flavors of the beans--roasted I think by Fourtillfour's original shop in Scottsdale, Arizona--are agreeable, if somewhat mild. The young barista (an actual Encinitas local) was I think still pretty new to her craft, but it was not a bad espresso. Compared to some of the other offerings along 101, I think this new spot compares reasonably well. Hopefully, the owners will give their new and second location a chance to take hold and thrive. And if 4t4 should manage to break the location curse, so much the better. read more

Tried this classic car themed cafe today and love it. Really wonderful mocha latte. Not too sweet and perfect balance. Tried a blueberry muffin and chocolate croissant and they were excellent, as well, super fresh, moist and yummy. Love the happy hour prices from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Seating is all outdoors but very nice garden like atmosphere and plenty of tables/stools. Feels like someone's super cool backyard/garage area. Lots of parking. Service was not super friendly but professional and efficient. They host classic car/4x4 meetups on the weekends. Love to see that! read more
