My friends and I came here for lunch and I had The American sandwich, which also comes with a deconstructed Caesar salad and it was ok. Service was good and the employees were friendly.

This was a cute little coffee shop with a nice ambiance. overall it was calm and pleasant, and it felt like an easy place to stop by for something light. The food was okay overall. We tried the acai bowl, and that was actually good. Nothing felt overly memorable, but it was still a nice option if you're looking for a quick bite or something refreshing with your coffee.

Stopped by for breakfast with my bestie on a beautiful Sunday. Although a pretty full restaurant at 930am, we were able to find parking in their small parking lot, beat the line and find seats. It got busier as the morning went on. Ordered the Organic Açaí Bowl, about $17, an Iced Lofty Style Nola, $7+, Egg Quiche and donut, while my friend got one of their lattes, hot. I loved the Açaí bowl. It was filling, came with a lot of fresh and ripe fruit, and had a lot of yummy different textures from the granola, nibs, coconut and seeds. I really enjoyed the egg quiche but wish they offered to warm it up; it would've been perfect. My latte was okay in taste but did wake me up. The green donut was delicious and pretty looking but the whole thing would've been too sweet for me; I'm glad we shared it. Her hot latte had a cute design on top This place is perfect when the weather is nice, since it's mainly outside. No complaints about the service.

A solid café for a fresh, well-executed breakfast. Ingredients tasted high quality across the board, and the açaí bowl was a standout--beautifully balanced with generous, thoughtfully layered toppings. A spot that delivers and is definitely worth the stop.

Iced Salted Caramel Latte, $7! Nov 8, 2025

3-4 stars. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon! The line wasn't that long as it looked to be from outside as there were only maybe 3 people ahead of me. Although all the tables were taken up & even the seating that faced the road. They had heaters on as well that you could feel as you stood in line or waited for your name to be called out. I looked at the menu from above and I believe I read that the Iced Salted Caramel Latte was $7.50, but when I went to pay it was only $7! (I handed her $8 because I swore I saw $7.50 on the screen lol). It looked like the cup was 16 oz or larger, unsure because she didn't ask -- so maybe they only have one size. When I'm nervous or at a new spot, I forget to ask all these basic questions. I read that it's house made caramel with fleur de sel. I think they should add more fleur de sel because it was lacking the salty aspect, but the caramel was delicious. As a whole, I think the latte had too much milk because the espresso was very much lost. It just tasted like caramel milk. It wasn't balanced as my friend mentioned it was (he got the same drink, at their Little Italy location I believe?). However, price was nice for the size of the drink. Would I come back? Maybe on a cold day since they have those heaters! I'm a huge fan of salted caramel and this one missed the mark. I'd give them another try when they have new seasonal specials. Also, they do have a big menu for food choices which is nice. I did see people enjoying toasts and açaí bowls. Great place for bicyclists, families, people with doggos, solo, dates, etc! Come & check them out, they are just two lights away from the beach as well.

Cute coffee shop on Cedros. It is a popular place so it's not great for large groups. Very nice servers and items get to you quickly. The acai bowl ($17) is perfection and definitely big enough to share with two people. Tons of fresh fruit, acai scoops and peanut butter underneath. A must on a hot day!

This is genuinely the hugest latte I've ever gotten. It was 20 oz (the only size) for $6. They have a cute outdoor space with shade. It was a very serviceable latte but also not particularly memorable. Some of their other drinks are on the pricier side, but this is an otherwise fine spot to pick up a coffee before hitting the beach!

Great coffee ! Very open and airy setting. Not far from the beach / ocean U order at the counter and u can eat outside or take to go The server is busy but nice and efficient !

I wish I would have tried Lofty sooner. I've seen it in Little Italy for a long time and it had a good look, and yeah it's pretty bomb. Good portions. Everything is fresh and well prepared. Quick friendly service. Great indoor outdoor spaces. Decent enough parking. Not too loud. Enough space. Heck, you might even be able to work if you need to. Various options. A little spendy but worth it.

Some of the best coffee in the San Diego area!!! We were staying in Solana Beach for a vacation and loved walking up here for lattes. We even got their beans a few times to keep in our Airbnb, and they were gracious enough to grind them for us. Highly recommend Lofty!

Relaxing spot to sip on your coffee while catching up with friends. The service was good, orders came out quick. The parking lot is small but glad that they do have a parking lot. There is street parking. My favorite is the Iced Salted Caramel Latte. The coffee was strong with a little sweetness to it. If you're in the area please stop by, you will it be disappointed. Thank you Lofty Coffee staff for your hospitality.

Easy to find. Very busy downtown area by the beach. They do have a parking lot but half of it is taken over by the business next door. This is an outside coffee shop - order inside- sit outside. There is a lot of seating and the people working were nice. We came here because they have house made almond milk, house made syrups and they're organic. I ordered the mint matcha with cold foam and it's delicious 5/5 We also ordered The Salted Caramel latte with house made almond milk and cold foam 10/10 !!!! Heads up that they only have one size for drinks - 16oz. I highly recommend going here!

We each got to order a pot of tea, so we decided to order 5 different ones to try out more flavors together. The ones we picked were: -Jasmine orange oolong - Coconut milk green tea - Earl grey lavender - Vanilla cream -Strawberry rose champagne oolong tea My top two favorites were the jasmine orange oolong and the coconut milk green tea. The only flavor that none of us enjoyed was the strawberry rose champagne oolong tea, so when it came time for refills, we switched it to the rouge provence. For the food, there were four finger sandwiches: chicken breast, smoked salmon, cucumbers, and chopped spinach. We all liked the chicken breast one the most, and felt like the cucumbers and chopped spinach could have been combined into one sandwich for a more balanced flavor. For sweets, there was the seasonal scone, fruit tart, macaron, and donut. I loved the scone with the butter and fruit preserves, as well as the fruit tart. The service was polite, but a bit slow and we waited a while before our food arrived. There was only one person who was serving the entire afternoon tea area, so it's understandable that there's a longer wait. All in all, I would definitely come back for another afternoon tea experience!

Unfortunately, the coffee wasn't any better. It was poorly made, tasted burnt and bitter, and wasn't worth finishing. For a coffee shop, that's the one thing that should be done well. There are plenty of other local cafés where you'll be treated with respect and get a much better cup of coffee. Only draw is the bunnies, who I really hope Samantha treats with more care and kindness than she does her customers; I honestly am concerned for their wellbeing after experiencing how Samantha treats people.

This would have been an average San Diego coffee shop experience for me, except for the fact that I absolutely LOVED the cherry bomb! It's a cherry mocha and essentially a perfect drink for me. Back in 2019, Starbucks had a seasonal cherry mocha for Valentine's Day that I was obsessed with. Apparently I was the only one, because they haven't brought it back since. Cherry mochas are hard to come by, and I haven't really encountered another one. This one was delicious! The espresso was bold, the milk perfectly creamy, and the overall taste not too sweet (unlike Starbucks'). Wow!! I can already tell this will be a drink I daydream about. Unfortunately it was $7.50, which will prevent me from indulging very regularly. The rest of the menu is pricey too, with avocado toasts nearly reaching $20. (I may be a millennial, but I can certainly understand the negative stereotype when I see coffee shop prices like these.) Besides pricing, the other downside of this place is the limited seating. There were only 4 small outdoor tables, so unless you're with just one other person and you arrive before 10am, I'd suggest grabbing your coffee to go and taking a walk. My friend and I sat down, since there were open tables when we arrived. She enjoyed her iced honey cinnamon latte. If you love a cherry mocha or are looking for coffee in the design district, definitely come through!

A little bit on the sweet side especially for being beet based. But still very refreshing and also well balanced out with the cacao. The açaí bowl was the best I ever had. It's lovely with turmeric, cinnamon, oat milk, MCT oil and black pepper. I also ordered the Hot Chick salad. It came out looking gorgeous. The salad tasted really good, the chicken was seasoned nicely, and I liked the different textures with the rice, the quinoa and the roasted corn. The dressing was super tasty too. When I got towards the end of my salad, my last few pieces of avocado were bad. It wasn't a dealbreaker for my experience, but I would've definitely preferred that they would've left those pieces out. Also, the little toasted cracker things tasted like cardboard, dry and flavorless. I probably should've tried scooping up some of the salad with them, but I left them on the plate. This Achilles Coffee is tucked smack dab in the middle of a health-centric mall surrounded by wellness centers, nutritional experts, and yoga studios. The decent sized parking lot is typically busy but has a good churn throughout the day. There's street parking too and the commuter rail nearby for those looking for a light walk. With seating outside on both the ground level and up on the roof, it's a perfect spot to soak in some sun, breathe in the ocean air, and have a sip and a bite in this quiet part of town. The menu here is comprehensive with coffee (espresso, pour overs, cold brew), teas, specialty drinks, as well as breakfast and light bites to pair with a good start to the morning. We primarily came for a coffee run but a few of our team members decided to visit for breakfast the following day and from what I've heard, they're solid with the food! I look forward to coming back to give their bites a try. In theme for Saint Patrick's Day, they had a few special drinks but I opted for a traditional flat white this time. They had milk options but as a traditionalist, I went with whole milk. The coffee had great flavor and balance. The richness was bold and rounded out after every sip. I was tempted to grab a couple bags on my way out but seeing they had free shipping for online orders over $40 (about two bags), I decided to save some luggage space and order some when I was back home. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was impressed how many of them they were able to fit behind the small work area but they were experienced and worked collectively as a team. The drinks were prepared quick and for those liking them hot, you will be pleased with the freshness of that first sip. Overall, Achilles Coffee is a perfect small batch roaster to visit while you're in San Diego to get a great cup of coffee, a breakfast to go with it, and some bags of single origin or blend to bring back home for your own brew. And if you're interested in trying them out before you visit or just looking to restock, consider checking out their website and order from there. They even have a sampler to try their in-season batches. I guess their only Achilles' heel is that there aren't more of them but with five spots all across San Diego county, at least a San Diegan (or visitor) can get a taste of the sweet nectar marketed under this Greek warrior's moniker.
