The couple next to us was sharing an amazing looking breakfast. I'll have to try a meal here sometime! Counter seating faces the street where there's lots of fun people/creature watching--moms with strollers, joggers with dogs of all sizes, seagulls perched on rooftops calling to each other. Large umbrellas and a thick broad canopy over the patio provide plentiful shade while allowing the lovely breezes to pass through (we're only a few blocks from the ocean). What a great experience at Lofty Coffee. One of the things that really impressed me was learning that their baked goods are made fresh at their local bakery in Encinitas and delivered to the café that same morning. You can absolutely taste the difference. The pastry I had was incredibly moist, flavorful, and fresh and not dry at all like you often find at coffee shops (like the Coop) The gentleman working the register was also fantastic. I wasn't familiar with all of the baked goods, and he took the time to walk me through the options and explain what everything was without making me feel rushed. Having an office on Cedros, I am a huge fan of Lofty. The food, ambiance and convenience are all spectacular. The drip coffee, with endless refills till noon at under $5 is one of the best deals in San Diego. The only drawback is that service can be painfully slow. Especially for food. Stopped by for breakfast with my bestie on a beautiful Sunday. Although a pretty full restaurant at 930am, we were able to find parking in their small parking lot, beat the line and find seats. It got busier as the morning went on. Ordered the Organic Açaí Bowl, about $17, an Iced Lofty Style Nola, $7+, Egg Quiche and donut, while my friend got one of their lattes, hot. I loved the Açaí bowl. It was filling, came with a lot of fresh and ripe fruit, and had a lot of yummy different textures from the granola, nibs, coconut and seeds. I really enjoyed the egg quiche but wish they offered to warm it up; it would've been perfect. My latte was okay in taste but did wake me up. The green donut was delicious and pretty looking but the whole thing would've been too sweet for me; I'm glad we shared it. 3-4 stars. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon! The line wasn't that long as it looked to be from outside as there were only maybe 3 people ahead of me. Although all the tables were taken up & even the seating that faced the road. They had heaters on as well that you could feel as you stood in line or waited for your name to be called out. I looked at the menu from above and I believe I read that the Iced Salted Caramel Latte was $7.50, but when I went to pay it was only $7! (I handed her $8 because I swore I saw $7.50 on the screen lol). It looked like the cup was 16 oz or larger, unsure because she didn't ask -- so maybe they only have one size. When I'm nervous or at a new spot, I forget to ask all these basic questions. I read that it's house made caramel with fleur de sel. I think they should add more fleur de sel because it was lacking the salty aspect, but the caramel was delicious. As a whole, I think the latte had too much milk because the espresso was very much lost. It just tasted like caramel milk. It wasn't balanced as my friend mentioned it was (he got the same drink, at their Little Italy location I believe?). However, price was nice for the size of the drink. Would I come back? Maybe on a cold day since they have those heaters! I'm a huge fan of salted caramel and this one missed the mark. I'd give them another try when they have new seasonal specials. Also, they do have a big menu for food choices which is nice. I did see people enjoying toasts and açaí bowls. Great place for bicyclists, families, people with doggos, solo, dates, etc! Cute coffee shop on Cedros. It is a popular place so it's not great for large groups. Very nice servers and items get to you quickly. Dark woody panels for the interior cashier area, they have friendly and extremely fast service for coffee. All outdoor seating, but around lunch time on sunday, all seats were taken. I got the Kyoto style cold brew, it's bright and acidic. My partner got the NOLA, and it was... uhh... watered down. Very mid for the price. Overall, had better overpriced coffee. My family and I used to love this Lofty Coffee location in Solana Beach. It was always a quiet, cozy place where you could enjoy breakfast and spend time together. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. When my daughter came to visit, we decided to have breakfast here as a family. There was a line to order, which was perfectly fine, but every table was occupied. After placing our order (for three full breakfasts), I looked for a place to sit and found that there wasn't a single available table. What was frustrating was that at least six tables designed for four or more people were occupied by just one person sitting with a laptop. Right before us, another group of four or five people had also ordered full breakfasts and couldn't find a table either. I went back to the counter and asked how they manage situations like this. I was told there was nothing they could do. When our food was ready, there were still no tables available. An employee offered to ask someone if we could share their table, but the people he asked declined. Honestly, I didn't come to breakfast with my family to sit with strangers. We wanted to enjoy a private conversation together. The group that had ordered before us ended up eating their breakfasts standing up while holding their plates. That is simply unacceptable. What I don't understand is why customers who purchase only a bottle of water or a single cup of coffee are allowed to occupy large tables for hours while paying customers who order full meals have nowhere to sit. Many restaurants manage this by limiting laptop use during busy meal hours or encouraging solo guests to use smaller tables. Why doesn't Lofty? Eventually, I asked for a refund, which the staff processed without any issue, and we left. We had breakfast at another nearby restaurant instead. Ironically, we ran into friends there, and when I told them what had happened, they said this has been an ongoing problem at this Lofty location for quite some time. Management should seriously reconsider its seating policy. A restaurant should prioritize customers who are actually there to eat, especially during breakfast and lunch hours. We were ready to spend about $90 on breakfast, while several large tables were occupied by people who had purchased little more than a coffee or a bottle of water. This used to be one of our favorite places. Sadly, until management addresses this issue, we won't be coming back. read more

Was in the area after an appointment and really wanted an iced matcha latte. I ordered it exactly like that and asked if I could add a little vanilla to it and the worker said sure. When I looked at the screen, it said "matcha mint." Now while I love mint, I really don't want it in my matcha. I asked if the mint could be excluded and she said no but you can hardly taste it. I got my drink quickly and WOW could you taste the mint. This was honestly one of the worst matchas I've had. The fact that they cut their matcha with mint leads me to believe that they use a low quality matcha. I was never asked what kind of milk I wanted but it tasted like oat milk was used, which I don't like the taste of. I guess that was on me for not specifying what kind of milk I wanted. I took maybe 3 sips of it during my hour drive to OC and tossed it when I got home. The vibe of the place was cute though! Parking lot was a little bit of a tight squeeze but I managed. A friend took me here for lunch. We had our dogs with us at the Del Mar dog Beach so we needed a place where they are welcomed. This place was perfect with shaded outdoor seating, free dog treats, and a water bowl. We ordered at the front counter and food was brought to our table. We found a table in the back. Let me tell you the story about Lofty Coffee Solana Beach Café and my experience there. I was actually invited to go on a spontaneous date from a girl I matched with on Hinge . She was trying to find a nice spot that would appeal to both of our home locations. She eventually suggested Lofty Coffee Café in Solana Beach. The Lofty Coffee is a quick ride down the road once you get off the 5 Hwy. I appreciate that proximity, because it makes it easier to get to from Oceanside. We both found street parking and made our way over. At the entrance, there's a menu that also has a QR code for access on our phones. We then got in line and made our menu selections reading the menu on our phones. Seeing as it was 3:00PM, there were a few people dining-in and it was relatively quick to get serviced. As an extra convenience, there's also the menus located on 2 tv monitors above the register. After ordering, we took our number holder and found seating on their patio that overlooks the street. I ordered an Organic Golden Milk. This was heavy with turmeric (which I love for anti-inflammation) & honey. The turmeric foam was very dense at the bottom and it provided a gentle warming spice upon sipping. The heart design was cute too. I also ordered a Delicious Toast with peanut butter, honey, bananas & seeds to go along with my Golden Milk. My date ordered an arugula & endive salad and some hibiscus lemongrass tea. Loved the figs on top as well. We were very pleased with our meals and appreciated that the ambiance was casual and quiet, which allowed us to relax and talk undisturbed. The edible flowers on top & the company of finches (birds) was also a nice touch. The service friendly & attentive and their establishment was clean. Overall, I recommend The Lofty Coffee Solana Beach Café ESPECIALLY if wanting a quiet place to converse. Our meals & drinks came up to $35 together. A decent date spot. read more

ok let me start with that I loved the location and ambiance. it was a great place to sit down and enjoy a snack and drink or walk to the beach with your coffee. the pastries were incredible and you could tell they were fresh. the coffee however was very watered down especially for being a cold brew. couldn't taste the coffee at all especially as the ice started to melt it thinned out to only the hint of mint taste. good for people who like lighter coffee taste. the servers were very rushed and were very short when asked questions, which could be credited to how busy it was. read more
