Lived the ambiance. Restaurant has tons of outdoor umbrella and patio covered seating. It is exceptionally dog friendly which was perfect for us as we were traveling with our dog. Nice di ing experience. Friendly staff. Thank you Jenna!
Pros: The service was fantastic and my salted carmel latte was delicious! Cons: The short rib was dry and lacking flavor. My fried chicken was very thin, overcooked, slightly burnt, lacking flavor, and out of proportion to the bun and overall sandwich.
I'd say 3.5 stars. Came on a gloomy Sunday morning in the summer. My friend put us on the waitlist and when I arrived it seemed relatively empty and they only could seat us inside. No problem. I ordered the Risotto Benedict ($19.75) and a Valrhona Dark mocha ($6.5) while my friend had a regular coffee with a pancake and the divorciado. The food came out pretty quickly and it was pretty good. The bacon was well cooked as were the eggs. Our server was ok. She gave us another table's request for extra butter and we had to ask her for water and coffee refills a few times before we got them. Aside from that everything else was ok.
We visited Clare's for a relaxed Friday brunch on the back patio. While bustling, not crowded and we were seated right away. Attentive, prompt service. Beach shack ambience across the main drag about a block in from the beach. Mimosa for me and aperol spritz for my dining partners. Brioche grilled cheese egg sandwich for two of us and cheese enchiladas and eggs rounded out our trio of meals. A very pleasant experience and well worth return visits.
I came in with pretty high expectations after seeing so many great reviews. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, which wasn't too bad. The standout dish was definitely the Brussels sprouts. They were easily the highlight of the meal and an absolute must-order if you dine here. As for our breakfast, it was just okay. The bread was quite hard, making it difficult to cut and chew, and the hash browns could have used a bit more seasoning. The service also felt a little off. Our server took the orders of tables that were seated after us before coming to ours, and we didn't receive water until she was ready to take our order. It would have been nice to have our waters brought out shortly after we were seated while we looked over the menu. Overall, I'm glad I gave it a try, but I'm not sure I'd return. The Brussels sprouts were excellent, but the rest of the experience didn't quite live up to my expectations.
I loved this place. It is someone's home, made to look like a restaurant. It has lots of outdoor seating. It is warm and inviting. I do believe there is a bakery in the back. The atmosphere is casual, flip flops and tank tops. Cool ocean breezes, fresh coffee and cinnamon rolls. I feel this is California. The food was incredible. The staff was friendly but working so hard. We ordered salmon benedict, bagels and lox, and a green omelette. It was delicious. The bagel came with ingredients, so you had to assemble yourself. This was a bit strange for us, but the ingredients were very good. I will return.
I tried this restaurant recently and had an average experience. They offer various breakfast items and great coffee. Food: I tried the Norwegian salmon and bagel. The portions were very generous. It tasted delicious. However, it came with the ingredients on the plate. I would have liked it more if they made the sandwich for you. I tried the hot latte and it was very flavorful. Service: our waitress was very friendly but wasn't very attentive since the restaurant was very busy. Ambiance: The decor inside is very nice. There is both indoor and outdoor seating.
Our server was nice, and the food was delicious. The restaurant was very cute, but I wouldn't want to eat here on a hot day. By the time we were done we were all sweating so bad. Very muggy, with the windows open. We will be back for the Peruvian chicken sandwich
Found ourselves here recently for brunch. It's in the most adorable little converted craftsman house. Food was great, I had the chilaquiles which were so good and my husband raved about them too. Parking is easy with the train lot across the way. We've been coming for years and will continue to do so. Also, big shout out to Laura, she's so sweet and always provides the best service!

That changed the moment I tried a bite of the pancakes my daughter ordered. I was genuinely surprised to discover what may be some of the best pancakes I've ever had. Since then, Claire's has become a breakfast tradition whenever we're in the area. Buttermilk Pancakes (OG) - 5/5. These pancakes completely changed my expectations of what a pancake can be. What makes Claire's buttermilk pancakes stand out is their depth of flavor. They have a rich, buttery character and a subtle fermented tang that give them a distinctive personality. Add a little extra butter and real maple syrup, and the flavor reaches another level. The texture is equally impressive. Unlike many restaurant pancakes that are either soggy or overly dense, these strike a near-perfect balance. They hold their shape well while remaining tender and fluffy, with just the right amount of air pockets. They're substantial without being heavy and soft without falling apart. The finishing touch is a thin ring of golden-brown crispy edges that adds both texture and extra flavor to every bite. Seasonal Lemon Ricotta Pancakes - 4.5/5. Our server recommended the seasonal lemon ricotta pancakes, and I'm glad I gave them a try. They are every bit as well-executed as the original buttermilk pancakes, with a bright citrus flavor and a richer, creamier profile from the ricotta. While I still prefer the original buttermilk version for its subtle fermented tang, these are excellent in their own right and well worth ordering if they're available. On a return visit, I made a point of trying something different and was glad I did. The standout pairing here is the crispy hash browns. This is one of those dishes where the individual components really shine when eaten together. Combining the arugula, poached egg, hollandaise sauce, and crispy hash browns creates a wonderfully balanced bite. The hash browns contribute crunch, the egg and hollandaise provide rich creaminess, and the arugula adds freshness and brightness that keeps everything from feeling too heavy. It's a thoughtfully composed dish that delivers both flavor and texture. Drinks - okay. The juices, teas, and coffee were perfectly fine - nothing remarkable, but nothing to complain about either. They do their job and complement the food well. Here are my final Thoughts. I'm so glad we discovered Claire's on Cedros. It has given me a new benchmark for what great pancakes should taste like. Even as someone who never considered pancakes a favorite breakfast item, I find myself thinking about them long after the meal is over. If we're back in Encinitas or Solana Beach, Claire's will be one of our first stops. The pancakes alone are worth the visit.

Such a cute breakfast spot! Very friendly staff, very very welcoming and easy to accommodate. The food itself is the perfect breakfast food with a variety of options. Their omelets are really good, the hash browns are super yummy and (not pictured) the buttermilk pancakes are a must try!!
I had a green scramble with rye toast and hash browns, along with a guava mimosa. Everything was delicious and fresh, and service was friendly and great! The menu is large and fit for different dietary restrictions. Prices are reasonable. This is a super cute brunch spot with a very long wait. There aren't enough restrooms and it's quite noisy inside.

We've never had a bad meal at Claire's. We have been coming there since 2010. Claire's is so special to our family. Our children have been there as babies, and all of our dogs have been there for the last decade and a half. We're about to move out of San Diego with our whole family and we decided unanimously that our final stop as we drive north will be breakfast at Claire's. Once more, with feeling! read more

Recently me and a friend dined at Claire's on Cedros while I was visiting from Florida (She lives in San Diego.) I went last time I was here a year ago, and remembered how much I loved everything about it. (Food, drink, staff, and ambiance.) We went on a Wednesday and had an amazing breakfast. I had the Tuscan Benedict and my friend had the California omelet- both were outstanding and cooked perfectly. We each had a latte, and both were made with Barista perfection! My friend had a hot latte and had beautiful latte art- it was really delicious. We also shared the peach coffee cake, which was the best I have ever had- I would buy it again and again if I lived here. Our waitress was also lovely and provided wonderful breakfast service. The following Monday (so less than a week later) we returned as 2 friends had joined us, and we loved it so much- seemed like a perfect idea to return. It started off on an odd foot- our waiter was cold and aloof, which was odd based on prior experiences. The first thing that threw us was my friend ordered a coconut latte (Espresso, whole milk, coconut syrup.) It came out looking suspect, as it had none of the attention to detail we had seen the prior week. It was also bad- not creamy, not coconut. It was not drinkable. We realized when we saw the bill- it was entered as a plain coconut milk latte. (Def not what was ordered.) Although 3 of our entrees were cooked perfectly - my friends eggs benedict arrived raw (it was a scary.) When the waiter finally made his way to us we showed him, he shrugged and asked if they should re make it - we said yes, this is dangerous. It took a VERY long time for my friends entree to be re made (so long that I said I fear they are going to error the other way.) Sadly, I was correct. Essentially it came out as a hard boiled egg in poached egg form. I was really frustrated for her, and I went to speak to someone at the front of house. They were wonderful and made it right and re made her breakfast correctly, but of course now the entire table was done eating. As we walked back to our table she told me that 3 benedict had been returned to the kitchen that am, so something was going on with the chef. They comped my friends meal for transparency. My concern is this place is lovely with wonderful staff and food. What was going on this day? I hope the owners address it because with our first experience we would return again and again, but with the latter experience we would hesitate to return. The restaurant made good on the situation, but we would rather pay for delicious food and wonderful service, as I am sure everyone would. Our first visit would be 5 stars, and the second 3- hence the 4 stars. read more

I really enjoyed brunch here at Claire's. Jade, our server, was super attentive and also helped make our big group of 9 work on the outdoor patio. I ordered the dulce de leche latte and turkey and goat cheese melt with sweet potato fries (pictured). Both did not disappoint and I will be coming back again for brunch as it's near the water and perfect on a sunny day. Really great spot to check out if you're in or near Solana Beach. read more
I was definitely surprised by how spacious the place is and also how good their food is! Quite pricey though and some items may be fairly small for the price but definitely a good place for brunch! Came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon exactly at noon and there was actually no wait which is amazing. Had a nice spot outside on the patio and also brought our dog. This was a nice ambience for sure. Dulce de leche Chai latte was phenomenal! Husband got this one and he definitely made the right choice. There we asked for almond milk and were a little surprised that they charged an extra $1 for that. Not too bad though cuz that drink was delicious. Friends got the ibara mocha and raspberry mocha. But honestly, everyone agreed that the dulce chai latte was the best! Asparagus and roasted beet salad - 8/10 Honestly this was a really nice salad with flavors going really well together. We added some chicken on and it was a great source of protein. Chicken was not too oily and was also cooked really well. Only downside here for which I had to take off a major amount of points is the salad was actually very small. Quite expensive for the small portion size. Raspberry ricotta stuffed French toast - 10/10 This was absolutely amazing! Soft French toast with that raspberry compote and the ricotta filling on the inside was a really good combination. Quite a large amount of ricotta filling which was appreciated. Fresh berries on top were also abundant and overall a really good item on the menu. Fried green tomato sandwich Friend who was vegetarian got this and honestly we were both surprised how large the sandwich was! Really really good portion size with an abundant amount of filling inside. Also got some fries on the side which was nice. Value for money here. Salted Caramel Waffles Friends got this to share and nice how it was loaded up with pecans and bananas and came with Chantilly cream on the side as well. I think they quite enjoyed it because they finished everything on the plate. read more
Sweet brunch gem right across from the Solana Beach Amtrak station. Parking was pretty tight and small behind their lot, so I'd suggest parking along the street nearby. Waited a bit for walk-in dining, so I'd recommend joining the waitlist first. Food was fresh & delicious, if a bit simple, especially the sides. I did enjoy the maple chicken sandwich, crispy outside and juicy inside. Service was a bit hit & miss. I'll chalk it up to a busy weekend since our server did look a bit rundown even though it was only noon. Overall, I'll try this spot again and since I do want to try their other brunch specialties, especially the sweet ones. read more
Such a cute little place. Small inside with a larger outside eating area. Along with a quick takeout coffee area. Came for the fried green tomatoes yet they were out. Settled for the white chicken chili which was perfect for the chilly day. A pistachio cortado went well. Wish I had saved some to dip the cookies they gave with the bill. This is our 3rd year in a row going to this great breakfast spot. Close to Del Mar Race Track and the food is always great. Service was excellent and my wife and I split 2 breakfasts since we couldn't decide on just one. They split the meals for us and were very responsive to any requests. Definitely recommend. read more
Great menu and food choices. The Tuscan Benedict was fantastic with bacon. It's really unique that it served on a delicious risotto cake. I have also gotten the short rib Benedict previously which is also delicious. The Greek yogurt with açai is very refreshing. We also sampled the lemon ricotta pancake, which was fluffy and yummy! The divorciado was savory and awesome with salsa verde and pico de gallo. Our table also shared the salted caramel waffle which was delicious . The coffee drinks are great too ! Service was superb and friendly. Very helpful when you can't decide what to order any ambience is cozy and intimate! read more

Great spot for breakfast and lunch in Solana beach. Place is busy so wait times can vary, bring your patience. I had the Peruvian chicken sandwich and it was phenomenal! The avocado and French toast were great as well. There are interior and exterior dining areas and staff is very friendly. Highly recommend this place. read more

What a perfect cafe. Given the number of reviews for Claire's, I expected this to be a cafe with loud signage and in a location heavily trafficked. But it's not. Which I loovveeed! Though it's clearly very popular, and for good reason, it still feels quaint and undiscovered. Like a secret oasis. Well done! read more

Claire's is consistently a great spot for brunch. My family has been coming here since they opened. When we have time we sit down in the restaurant for a relaxed meal. The Green Scramble is my go to meal at Claire's. I also request berries on the side and they are very fresh. The salmon Benedict my son tried during our last visit was delicious as well. We go lucky on a weekday and did not have a wait. There is typically a 30+ minute wait for a table. If you don't have time for a sit down mean, the walk up cafe has some delicious options. I particularly like this spot after a long walk in the area. With new walking paths available this is a convenient meeting spot with friends. read more

This place is amazing! Came here on a Wednesday at around 1020 am and there was a small line forming. We got seated almost immediately. However when we got our food, there was definitely a line. A lot of people come here for brunch and there are people of all ages here. Their servers here are super nice. The food here is what I enjoyed the most. This place gives me a fancy breakfast vibe. We got the Angus Short rib & hash brown potato cakes and the waiter was nice enough to split it into two plates (we were sharing). The French toast is also a must. The food tasted so good.
