We ordered the salted coffee (the caramel syrup was unreal ), the vanilla mint latte (subtle, refreshing, and smelled amazing), and the maple donut--which is an absolute must. We also had the protein scramble, the spicy chicken sandwich (an absolute banger ), and a 4 oz cup of bone broth that genuinely revived my soul. And can we talk about the service? Cute spot located in Encinitas with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking can be a bit challenging, but the location has a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service did not match the setting. Despite several open tables, we had a lengthy wait before being seated. Once seated, no staff checked on us for quite some time, and I eventually had to flag down a server just to order drinks and food. The restaurant was not particularly busy, although they may have been short-staffed that day. When the food arrived, the portions felt small for the price. The flavors were decent, but overall the meal was underwhelming given the cost. The bottom slice of bread on the chicken pesto sandwich was soggy from the pesto sauce. The "smash" burger looked appetizing, but the patty was thick and resembled a traditional burger rather than a true smashed patty. For the price point, it would also be nice if the burgers and sandwiches included chips or fries. During the meal, our server checked in only once, and we again had to flag someone down to receive the bill. Overall, this is a casual café with a pleasant atmosphere, but the service and value did not justify the premium pricing. Goodonya is such a fun spot! Loved the shop area and their wine bottle selection while waiting for a table, plenty of spots to lounge. My husband enjoyed the bone broth to sip on, and it was delicious with the fresh herbs on top. I also had the breakfast tacos, which were great. Only downside was service was a bit slow, but we went for Sunday brunch so that's probably to be expected with the crowd. Both were generous portions and had tons of fun yummy toppings. We also got a small order of the fries to share which we both liked. Our server was super sweet and helpful. Stopped by for lunch seeing super healthy advertisement and excited to try food that is truly good on you, just to get wildly disappointed. I understand that the whole premise of the restaurant is to provide a healthy and nutritious food, but man it tastes like dirt lacking any flavor. I ordered their version of chai latte which felt like dirt water with no remote familiar chai flavor at all. Ok, things happen with drinks. Then my main meal arrived - the chicken bowl. Basically, an extremely dry chicken with no seasoning with a tiny pile of rice and quinoa but plenty of cabbage. All of this accompanied with a small side of salsa and sour cream to get ~any~ resemblance of flavor. Chicken was cooked so poorly that it was very chewy and practically felt like eating cardboard. I didn't end up eating here but I did stop by for a golden milk and checked out their merch store, I was really impressed by all the options they had of those little niche products that you just want all of. I ended up getting their monkey brittle which was omg so tasty and I wish I was local so I could get it more often! The taste of the banana and the crunch from the nuts makes it such a perfectly balanced treat taste wise and all the ingredients are organic. I truly appreciate how healthy this place is! They only serve food with high quality ingredients no BS it's so refreshing to see, so many gluten free options, organic, and seed oil free. so I definitely will be back for their dinner menu! Love this spot so much! All organic, grass fed and finished meats, well put together meals and friendly service all wrapped up in one. My partner and I both enjoyed our meals completely. I ordered the fried egg plate which comes with arugula, tomato and sweet potato hash. The flavor was just perfect! I didn't even need a sauce! I also picked up the bone broth with cilantro, turmeric and green onion added and that was so flavorful and delicious! My partner ordered the protein scramble which comes with pork sausage, grilled onion, mushrooms, cheddar and toast which he very much enjoyed. I had also ordered the strawberry matcha which was perfect too! Since it was raining and we had the pup we weren't allowed to sit inside, but it looked very comfy and cozy inside. The outside is always buzzing with energy too. Lots of space to sit and plenty of friendly servers around. They also have a gift shop with lots of goodies like snacks and local artist jewelry and cards. They even sell a couple cute plants on the wall. Definitely check out this place. Elk cheeseburger: 5/10 I was so excited to try it but the meat was dry and had no seasoning at all. The bun was extremely dry and crumbly. The only thing saving this burger was the thin slice of cheese and small amount of sauce on it. It was a good portion but wayyy overpriced. Smash Burger: 8/10 It was juicy and flavorful but not nearly as big for the price. Tallow fries: 6/10 They failed to meet my expectations. Tasted like regular fries. Great organic breakfast and lunch place. Incredibly fresh food and eggs that have deep flavor. The eggs are the star here- so fresh. Friendly and helpful staff. Menu has a nice variety. We had the vege scramble, breakfast burrito and the Baja scramble. Unfortunately they were out of chorizo for the Baja scramble and we had to substitute meats so it was just a scramble. The vege scramble was super fresh and they didn't overcook the spinach. Loved how they provided sliced avocado in the burrito! Tastes so much better than those that smash the avocado. What stands out here is the freshness of ingredients and depth of flavor for what you order. And A+ for giving sliced avocado. It's a cute location right on the 101 just a few steps away from Hansen's surf shop. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. My only criticism- it's a cashless restaurant but they didn't tell us that upfront. And, we didn't see the bill to check totals (and for hidden service charges), the waiter just shows you the total on a handheld screen. Everything was clean and fresh though. We dined on the patio, which was lovely. There's plenty of seating indoor and out, and the tables are spaced nicely apart. I waited 40 minutes and after that they gave me a refund without any food or any other sort of compensation for waiting (see the "VOIDED" on the screenshot of my receipt) after not starting my order at all because their kitchen is "a disaster" (their words, not mine). Do you really want to eat somewhere where their own staff says this about the kitchen? I love the mission but the service is unacceptable. Support any other local business and avoid. Nice inside and outside seating is great for people and car watching. We had their smash burgers and tallow fries. Fries: maybe the best I've had recently, I mean deadly good BUT, they brought them out 10 minutes before the burgers. The burgers were good....worth $18 each, not imho.
