This is one of my favorite spots of all time. Every time I come here I have an amazing experience! Diego or Kelsey usually takes care of me and they are two of the most friendly, kind, and accommodating people ever! The hostesses are always super sweet as well. Went in for dinner on a Friday evening around 5:45, place was almost empty so that was fine so it wasn't too loud. The food was overpriced, the service was nonexistent. The menus are accessible through these little stands that seem like they should be drink menus while their drink menu is larger than their food menu and on a regular physical menu. We were told to seat ourselves and the menus are on the QR codes and to order through the QR codes too. I had to get my own water and utensils after our food was delivered too. I am a server and I tend not to judge too much but this was a horrible experience and I really expected more after hearing so many good reviews. Not great. We went here on a Saturday afternoon about 1.5 hours before closing. It was pretty empty. Service was really slow, and it took the waiter a long time to visit our table at all. We didn't get water until our food arrived. I was pretty disappointed in the food. The eggs were incredibly dry and seemed like they were microwaved or sat under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. The black beans were just thrown in eggs with some cheese, and they didn't bring me avocado even though it came with the Baja scramble. The waiter asked if I wanted to be charged for it, but I said no thanks. I was about to get up and go to the front to ask for a menu to check when he brought the avocado and apologized, which was nice. I picked around and ate the edible parts with the avocado. What was left was rubbery eggs that were hard to cut into and bouncy. Worst waiting experience ever! We signed up via text for the waitlist and it showed 30min and 10 parties ahead of us. We ended up waiting 1hr & 30min and watched table after table get sat before us without being on the waiting list. We asked the hostess if we were next and she informed us 4 times that we were, but then we would watch her seat another party as they walked up. You might be thinking oh maybe they were on the list.... Nope....the text system even said we were "0 in line". We had been 0 in line for the last 30min. Very frustrating, this was hands down the worst experience with this restaurant. We come here all the time but today was just purely terrible. I have been coming to Goodonya as a regular customer for over 5 years now, and order to go at least once or twice a week. While my experience at the start was great, the last 2 years have really gone downhill. The food may be fresh, however almost every single order I've had specifically in the last year has been made wrong or missing an item. Recently I ordered a turkey sandwich and added bacon (for $6) but they forgot the bacon. Just today I ordered a California burrito for breakfast and the meat AND salsa were nowhere to be found in the burrito. Not to mention when I order online and remove an item it is NEVER removed from my order. The attention to detail of the staff needs to be drastically improved. read more

I am new to the area and was excited to try this place as it close by and is organic. It has a cute little shop that sells wine & gift type items. However, I was let down as soon as I entered the cafe. There was a host stand at the entrance but no host. I ordered a breakfast burrito and coffee. Coffee was ok, nothing special, just regular coffee. Burrito was not good. It said on menu that salsa is inside but it was very negligible. I asked waiter if I could please have some more and he said it would be an extra charge. The server was very unwelcoming and unfriendly. He came to give me the check (on his credit card device). I had cash ready but he said they don't accept cash. He was standing and waiting for me to pay, shoving the credit card machine in my face and just standing there. It was an awkward feeling & I felt very uncomfortable. I appreciate good food, but appreciate good service just as much. This place had neither. This review is just for the breakfast burrito, nothing else on menu, so I don't know what their other food is like. But I won't be returning to find out. read more

Perfect for gluten free & dairy free people! Healthy, yummy & variety of choices for all. Came at noon on a Friday & we were able to get indoor seating right away. We had fabulous service from Lexi today with guidance on menu options. Berry tea latte was wonderful. Hard kombucha was good. Highlight of meal was the gf avocado toast. Both the fried egg avocado toast & the sweet potato hash avocado toast were delicious. Prices are not cheap, but healthy eating costs more, & the portions are generous. I tried the pesto chicken sandwich and was hooked on that. I love the homemade pesto sauce. I highly recommend trying it! I also tried the sauerkraut turkey sandwich. I really like this as well, I did get pesto on the side for this one too. Give me all the pesto. That is a threat. Alas, this was all I got to try before I left san deigo. I loved the friendly staff here, the food can be a wait but it's worth it. Be patient and check out the awesome shop! Service needs to learn to appreciate paying and tipping customers. Went to Goodonya for the first time this morning. We wanted to have breakfast on Fourth of July and sit down and enjoy a meal so have never been there before I went up to what I thought was where we order I ordered two meals two coffees and even tipped 25% because it was the fourth and I was being generous . We then sat down outside and was approached by a waitress saying we had to move. I told her we just ordered and are paying customers. She said we still had to move because we ordered it in the to go area by accident. I told her to switch it for to stay and was very respectful. She proceeded to again say we had to leave and sit behind the restaurant, even though there were plenty of tables open, and it was not remotely crowded. We then had to speak to another waitress who again gave us the same problem. Finally, the manager came out and reluctantly gave us a seat and made it seem like we were asking for something crazy when all we did was buy food and sit down at an empty restaurant and tipped them 25%. If it was not such a vegan gluten-free California restaurant this place would be out of business. read more

Wow, unbelievably fresh food. The food here is absolutely refreshing especially when walking down the beach. The food here is immaculate, it is surrounded by other small clothing shops on a one way street. The atmosphere is fresh and the menu if expansive. The prices are high but the quality is higher. The view of the ocean outside is great. The food I received was a green salad with fresh organic veggies, tuna, sprouts, spinach, tomatoes and a lemon ginger sauce to soothe the belly. The food was filling and as it wasn't the most expensive quality tuna, it was quite good. It was one of the best salads I ever consumed. The wait was long. That was the only issue I had.
