Returned to San Diego last night, and spending Father's Day with my in-laws. We came to T's and sat outside for brunch today after church and it was a beautiful overcast day. The patio seating is best for groups of 4. More seating inside. Our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered coffee which arrived piping hot and delicious! Two of us ordered BLT sandwiches with avocado and side salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and my husband ordered the Mexicali egg scramble with a side of beans, my father-in-law ordered a potato scramble substituting grits for the potatos. The food was ready in 15 minutes. The BLTs were scrumptious , bacon super crispy. The grits* scramble was also delicious. My husband was disappointed with the Mexicali, particularly that it was already lukewarm when it arrived. He wished he'd gotten the scramble which apparently was still hot upon arrival. Attention Paymard family. Please read my review of my family's experience today. My kids wanted to treat me to Father's Day breakfast before heading to the fair. My daughter was the one who chose T's Cafe for our celebration, excited to share a place she loved with the family. Unfortunately, what should have been a special family meal turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in years. We arrived at 11:37 AM and were quoted a 20 to 30 minute wait. We were not seated until 12:29 PM, nearly an hour later. I understand holidays are busy, but quoting a wait time that is off by almost double sets the tone for a disappointing experience. Unfortunately, the service only deteriorated from there. After being seated, it took 10 minutes to receive water, 20 minutes before our server Leslie took our drink order, approximately 30 minutes before our food order was taken, and 45 minutes after being seated before drinks arrived. Even then, the drinks were delivered separately, about five minutes apart. Our meals arrived roughly an hour after being seated, and once again, the three dishes were delivered separately several minutes apart. Long waits on Father's Day are frustrating, but understandable. What was not understandable was the complete lack of accountability when our order was delivered incorrectly. My daughter specifically requested wheat bread on her sandwich for health reasons and was served sourdough. My son ordered a fried chicken sandwich and instead received a chicken fried steak. When Leslie finally returned, approximately 15 minutes after our meals had been delivered, I politely pointed out the mistakes. Her response was shocking. She dramatically flipped through her handwritten notes and insisted that my daughter had ordered sourdough and that we were mistaken. She acknowledged that my son's order was incorrect but made no effort whatsoever to correct it. Instead, while I was in the middle of asking a question, she simply turned around and walked away. At this point, we had already requested water from two other employees because Leslie had disappeared for extended periods. Throughout most of the meal, our water glasses remained empty. No refills were offered, and no additional beverage service was provided. When we finished eating, Leslie still had not returned. We ultimately had to ask a busser for our check. When she finally brought it, I asked for her name. She ignored me and walked away. I asked again. No response. I asked a third time, louder because it was clear I was being ignored. After paying, I asked two employees if a manager was available. They informed me that Pam had apparently left about 20 minutes earlier without informing anyone and was nowhere to be found. I then asked those employees for the server's name and was told it was Leslie. At that moment, Leslie emerged from the bar area and began raising her voice at me, repeatedly calling me "cruel." Every attempt I made to speak was interrupted by her continuing to raise her voice and repeat the accusation. This occurred in front of other guests at approximately 2:05 PM. Owners, specifically the Paymard family, I strongly encourage you to review your security footage from approximately 2:05 PM on Father's Day. This interaction should be used as a training opportunity because no guest should ever be treated this way. What makes this especially disappointing is that we have dined here at least a dozen times over the years. We intentionally support T's Cafe because it is a family-owned, women-owned business, and we have always appreciated supporting a local establishment with those values. In fact, I still think the biscuits and gravy are excellent, and I enjoyed my patty melt. However, one employee completely ruined what should have been a special Father's Day meal with my kids. My daughter, who had proudly chosen this restaurant to make the day special, left feeling embarrassed and responsible for how the morning had unfolded. That is not a feeling any child should carry home on a holiday. Poor service can be forgiven. Long waits on a holiday can be forgiven. Mistakes happen. Being blamed for the restaurant's mistakes, ignored repeatedly, denied basic service, and then publicly berated by a server is unacceptable. After years of being customers, we will not be returning. I will also be sharing this experience with others because no guest should be treated with this level of disrespect. A restaurant's food may bring people in, but customer service determines whether they come back, and in this case, it guaranteed that we won't. read more

I will stick with 4 stars.... been back twice recently... note they have a new "chef" so recent visits have been SLOW...and when i say slow...an hour before we got our food ...ugh... i am not marking down for that b/c hoping it is temporary and i understand staffing is a difficult thing. food is plentiful and better than your average diner... prices are reasonable...not cheap...not expensive menu is a little confusing for me....hard to explain why but there are so many "options" for each item I feel overwhelmed. Also note that website menu is not updated on prices, format or items service ....they really try....don't expect too much...they are friendly and kind and really try! it is extremely casual service. the walls are adorned with OLD pics of solana/del mar area which is super fun to look at. it's amazing how much the area has grown over the years. ya i'll keep going back...just mentally prepare read more

Chicken slightly dry but still good. Sweet potato fries were excellent. Hot and crispy. Good flavor. Excellent club sandwich big enough to split, grilled chicken salad was fresh. Food was good but I think our server was on drugs. Took our drink order after 20 minutes of sitting there with nothing ... then she never gave us our drinks but came to take our food order. We reminded her about our drinks and it still took her like 15 more minutes to bring them... brought us coffee with no cream. We asked for cream and then she started taking orders for other tables instead of bringing us our cream so I got up and got cream myself from inside. She brought the wrong drink out for one person and one food order was wrong.. We sat there with empty plates after we finished our food for a long time till the server came and sat at a table next to us talking to our dog for the 50th time instead of bringing us our check. I asked for the check and instead of providing an itemized bill, she whispered the total in my dad's ear (so weird) so I asked for the itemized bill. That should be a standard thing to bring, not something I have to ask for... anyways, some people just should not be servers. read more

Went to high school in Solana Beach and can honestly say that T's has been consistently good for a long time. I like it better than Sunnyside down the street and feel it is a solid breakfast option in small, sleepy Solana Beach. They have a fairly small menu, but it is full of great options and a lot of breakfast classics. Eggs Benedict is my favorite breakfast dish so I loved seeing many different types of Benedict options on the menu. Parking is extremely easy and service is always fast. Our server today was especially polite and everything that we ordered came out quickly and was cooked to our order. For this most recent visit, I chose to order the Surf Side Crabcake Benedict and thought it was actually very good. I had a Crabcake Benedict the previous week and this version was much better. The coffee is also strong and the pricing is fair and it's honestly a great option on the beautiful 101. They have indoor and outdoor seating and I would just highly recommend to anyone searching for a great breakfast spot in Solana Beach. read more

I wouldn't come here expecting a great experience. The Great - They have specials that are fun! (just make sure you look at the front, because a server isn't going to tell you about them.) We frequent this place often even though the service isn't that great. A month or so ago a server didn't even have our check correct, he just put pillbox which we didn't order, we had to tell him what we had and he said just to use the check with pillbox on it, it would be cheaper. We ordered our food & drinks, our food came out and our juice never came out and a server never checked up on us. The scrambled eggs and sausage tasted very odd, almost like a chemical taste. No one checked up on us so we didn't say anything. We had to go ask for our check and just wanted to leave at that point. Later that night my friend who ordered the eggs and sausage got sick. He hadn't eaten anything else that day so it had to be his breakfast. Very disappointing as this is our usual go to place. It's so wonderful to head to Ts Café on the weekend for a wonderful brunch and some local live music! My husband and I have been coming here for their incredible Bloody Mary's bountiful of delicious garnishes since our youth it seems! He has been ordering the Benedict's for years, creamy and comfort foods that assuage a relaxed soul and hungry appetite. Today there was a great musician who really played a mean harmonica!!! It has the old school charm so refreshing in a world that feels sterile and lacking character. Such true Solana Vibes. Always wonderful customer service and gravy with such depth and flavor! The bartender/server Uzbek was attentive, helpful and friendly. We put in our orders fairly quick, but they did take a while to come out- id say 20-30 min. Both dishes were yummy, except for my biscuits - they felt overdone and hard, not that edible. Was deciding between this and another place. Ended up going here, based on the menu. Arrived a little after opening. Similar to another review, I was standing at the host area for a few minutes. I think one gentleman was handling everything until I left when another server came in. I got seated in a booth. The sun initially was a little bothersome, as it was right in the eyes. But, it adjusted enough. I went with the T's Country Benny (country fried steak), which came on a biscuit and not an english m7ffin. This was excellent! The breading on the steak was crispy and flavored well. Tender, too. The biscuits were soft and did a great job at soaking up the egg yolk and gravy. The gravy had an excellent flavor, as well. I got a side of hashbrowns. These were your typical hashbrowns. Cooked perfectly. Coffee was OK, too. I was a satisfied diner. read more

Came here today because we get my dog groomed just down the block. That Groomer is pretty quick. She's (my dog) usually only in there for 45 minutes to an hour so my husband and I tend to walk around and grab some coffee somewhere and today we decided to stop here for breakfast. We ordered a couple of orange juices and some waters and then quickly ordered our breakfast. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of scrambled eggs with some cheese on them and I decided to order the breakfast sandwich with grits. Easy enough to make right? I swear the food took 30+ minutes to come out. I don't know if the back wasn't prepared other tables look to be getting their food. It was just a very Uncomfortable place to be sitting there twiddling my thumbs thinking I'm gonna get a text from my groomer that my dog is ready for before I ever see breakfast. Breakfast came out down to the wire. My husband immediately paid so that we wouldn't be tied to waiting for somebody to show up to check us out. The biscuits and gravy were gross. They didn't even look like biscuits and gravy and the gravy was separated. it was not appetizing at all. My husband took a couple of bites. I ate all my grits because I mean, you can't really fuck grits up so it was gonna be good. The breakfast sandwich horrendous. The sourdough toast was dry AF. Maybe they should try butter or something and the eggs and bacon on the inside were so overcooked, both things we ate a few bites and then we left I would say 90% of the food and just jammed and left the Groomer hadn't even texted at this point. They texted when we walked back to the place, but goddamn I haven't had this horrible of an experience at a restaurant establishment in like a decade. The food was bad. The service was lackluster. We had an omelet and scrambled eggs and it's interesting how they charge a little for everything over and above the basic price, but generally only $1.00 for adding spinach or tomatoes or chili but add $2 for egg whites only. I went to T's for the first time today with a friend. The dining room is cozy with a fireplace. We were seated right away. We both had a bowl of soup and some tea. The bowls of soup came and looked more like an oversized cup. (1 1/2 cups) Mine was French onion which usually comes with toasted bread on top and that was missing. We only waited about 15 minutes to get seated outside (no wait for inside) and ordered a caramel iced coffee, OJ, and Bloody Mary to drink while we waited for the food to come out. Service was very sweet and all the food we saw coming out, especially the sandwiches and French toast, looked SO GOOD and also huge! I got their seasonal special carnitas benny which was packed full of flavor and my friend got a more traditional breakfast with the fluffiest pancakes. Server told me they might need that table if a large party shows. Up. There were a dozen empty seat. I asked if a large party shows up would you like me to move for them. Was then told they would me to move now. Which I did, the table I chose was directed to had no shade. I asked if I could get one of the many unused umbrellas for shade and was told no but I could move again to a different table. There was no rush or people waiting. So, moved again. Then I get the bill that has a $17 price for a bloody Mary with premium vodka. I was never given the choice of well or premium. Never even asked. And it was a tiny mason jar with a weak AF pour. Read some of the reviews before going. Almost didn't go because of the remarks on slow service and long wait getting food. Definitely not our experience. It was crowded and we still got great service and food within a good time. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive. The Bloody Mary was really good and our food was delicious. Eggs Benedict for me, chicken salad for my daughter. And because I have to...an order of biscuits and gravy to try. It did not disappoint. A huge helping and so good. Usually don't leave bad reviews but I was very disappointed with my experience. Can't comment on the food because I didn't get to eat any. Came here with my boyfriend and dad, got seated right away and order taken. 25min went by and our server came over for the first time and told us it would be a few more minutes. Another 25min went by (50min since we ordered) and my boyfriend went up to ask our server what was going on. It seems like something happened/our order wasn't put in and they were going to work on it right away. Unfortunately, with it being almost an hour, we opted to leave and go elsewhere. Live in Solana Beach and haven't been here in a long time. 3 of us decided to go on a Saturday. There was no crowd but we waited but not too long. Service was not good. Took awhile to get greeted and then even longer to get our drinks. No coffee refills were ever offered. The cups were like child cups so small. The food was good but not worth the cost. 3 basic breakfast meals was $70 then add tip. For breakfast that's just too much. Took forever to get our check. The all around experience was not good. When your son finally goes off to Kindergarten, you suddenly find yourself free to eat out at a variety of breakfast spots to waste a few of the morning hours away. In the months following his start in school, we probably went to a new place week. When we branched away from Encinitas, finding T's Cafe in Solana Beach, it was the first place we felt compelled to come back for a second time with extended family. My first trip, I kept it simple with the side of Biscuits & Gravy. The biscuits themselves are large, dusted with flour, taste like they were sweetened with a bit of corn meal, and obviously fresh made, which is a definite plus in my book. The gravy was peppery, maybe a bit too much, and not as salty and creamy as I would prefer, but still not bad. My wife had the Chicken Fried Steak with Scrambled Eggs, Home Fries, and Toast. While we both felt that the chicken was better next door at the Hideaway, neither of us could deny how brilliant the home fries were. Typically, most diners are too easy on the spice and salt, afraid to overwhelm older eaters; here, those potatoes were roasted and herbed to damn near perfection. On other visits, I've had The 101, a scramble with cheese, veggies, and polish sausage. And while it wasn't too bad, satisfying my desire for salty meat, it was those home fries that overshadowed everything else. The lone trip my son made, coming with us after a soccer game, he chose the Kids Menu Kids Mini Cakes, which consisted of two, small pancakes. In all honesty, it didn't even come close to satisfying his 5 year old appetite, as he quickly chomped both down before scrounging off other's plates, and was a bit disappointing. Also gracing the table were the Chicken Client, a grilled sandwich that was half-eaten before being pushed aside. And the Solana T's Omelet, which didn't wow, but was still enjoyed. In the end, some nice high points, but still relatively hit or miss. It's definitely worth coming out to a few more times to see if we can pin down a few more winners off the menu. Until then, I have a strong 3-Star view of the place. read more

We are outdoors and had the sandwiches for lunch. It's large portions so you can have leftovers if you're not super hungry. The chicken cobb sandwich was pretty good: with Gorgonzola cheese, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, on a Kaiser bun. Comes with choice of fries or salad. I had leftovers for later since the chicken breast was quite large and there were around 4 slices of bacon on it. I got ranch on the side since it was a little dry for my taste. Was supposed to have avocado but mine didn't. Probably an oversight but it was still good. I also opted for curly fries. They were ok. Outside and inside cafe seating. Dogs ok outside. read more
