Very disappointed with The Roxy--the food was overpriced and boring. My wife had been wanting to go back for the falafel burger and here we were. We came during lunch, the Italian sub was skimpy on meat and fillings, the falafel burger was just okay, and only the garlic fries were amazing. What really infuriated us: a sneaky 3.95% surcharge fee that popped up out of nowhere on the bill, that was not listed anywhere on the lunch menu. Why insult your guests? If costs are rising, just update the menu prices transparently like a respectable place. Hiding behind a vague surcharge feels deceptive and cheap--it ruined the whole experience. Later we found the surcharge listed at the bottom of the dinner menu. But not on our lunch menu. Are we supposed to scour the menu looking for nonsense fees? My wife was pissed she didn't make a stink about the bill, and will never return. Plenty of better options without these gimmicks. Our server Sam gets an award for his customer service & how he handled a very difficult customer that challenged every item on the menu due to health reasons He was patient & very accommodating. My girlfriend and I were looking for a dinner spot with live music and stumbled upon this place. I guess she has been here before as well but it was my first time. And this is such a cute spot! Right behind the metro station on the Main Street you'll find the roxy. They have an indoor outdoor Vibe with a lot of windows which adds a really nice feel to the restaurant while still staying warm in this San Diego winter. I love the live performers it was such a nice Vibe of instrumental piano and guitar while we enjoyed our dinner. Our server was very tentative and did a really good job at explaining the dishes when we are being undecisive. Overall I had a really great experience and definitely would recommend this place if you're looking for a dinner with live music. Perfect timing because about an hour later the place was packed. Good service, several wait staff checked on us, made sure we had drinks, water, and were quick to take our order and remove empty plates. Hubby and I shared the garlic fries (gluten free). I got a Coupe de Vie and he got the Pizza Port IPA. Happy Hour pricing so $2 off the drinks. The Coupe de Vie was tasty, the Wheatley Vodka was okay, would be smoother with Grey Goose. I would have gotten another but wanted to be able to sleep. Followed that up with Bees Knees. The ginger has a kick so be forewarned. The Spinach and Arugula salad (gluten free) was delicious. Generous portion. Lots of spinach, light on the arugula just the way I like it. Will definitely order again. Hubby devoured his Roxy Burger, enough said. Very overpriced for very mediocre food and drinks. They charge for a shot glass of pineapple juice (used as a chaser to shots served in rocks glasses) which is something I've never heard of, if we were ordering a full glass of pineapple sure, a shot glass full? Absolutely not. Their 'special butter burger' is the same price as their regular burger which comes with more toppings. Don't even get me started on the service, absolutely horrible. Our server was basically nonexistent and her coworkers did more to actively care for our table while she was off doing who knows what. The perfect amount that doesn't leave you feeling like a glutton and of course I added Sriracha for an extra kick. Honestly i didn't expect to have a drink because I was stuck on the English Breakfast Tea but mannn if you don't try the Espresso Martini you're going to wish you did. So creamy and delicious. I had the pleasure of meeting Terry who checks in to make sure everything is up to par and he is absolutely welcoming. He let me know on Wednesdays they have some jazz and I also got to experience the DJ on Sundays. This place is a complete vibe. After a long day of hiking, my good friend and I decided to stop here for a cocktail. The Roxy Encinitas was established in 1978 and was originally a restaurant and Ice cream place. It is the longest operating business in Encinitas. It has been through a recent remodel in 2016 and continues to serve the North County coastal community. I had never been here before, but it's a favorite watering hole for my friend. We received really good service from the bartender. I went with a Cosmopolitan and my friend had a Vodka Martini. Both drinks were stellar! Atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing just as a beach bar should be. They feature live entertainment nightly as well. Be sure to park behind the restaurant or street parking is available. We did not have time to eat but I plan to return in the future to try their food. read more

This place rocks (pun intended)!!! My husband and I came here on a Saturday evening in January and loved everything about it. First of all, it wasn't busy which surprised us, but maybe it was the time of year. We read reviews that it was dog friendly and planned on sitting inside after signing a waiver. I guess they don't do the waiver anymore and let dogs in because they said they couldn't sit us inside even with the dog. We sat just behind the gate so we were outside but felt inside. We ended up moving MORE outside after learning the heater above our table was broken. The heaters on the patio crank and we were just fine. We could still hear the live music which is so nice to have. The service was great. Food came out very promptly and hot. Our cups were never empty and we didn't get pestered. Our waiter also recommended the cheese curds which were not on the menu and they were DELICIOUS! So flavorful on their own with herbs in the breading. YUM. I recommend eating with a little marina. The ranch was good, but not needed because it masked the great flavor. For entrees my husband got the bucatini carbonara with chicken and I got the beef stroganoff. My husband said his pasta didn't even need the chicken, it was so good on its own. My beef stroganoff.... Good Lord it was good. I could eat that in the daily and die happy. They said the menu is seasonal but I sure hope the stroganoff is there was I come back because I WILL BE BACK. PS. Okay -- I LOVE this place!! I can't believe it's taken me so long to try it -- but I was SO pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! I ordered the salmon with truffle fries and I was blown away by yummy it was!! The drinks were good too -- we ordered a mixture of drinks, and honestly the negroni & the dirty martinis were done super well! We attended Yelp's Women Run North County celebrating Women-Owned Businesses at the Roxy and it was so great. The venue is beautiful, small and very intimate and the staff was friendly. The bar was hopping and the bartender's drinks were on point. I tried the minty martini with Irish Cream and it was very tasty). The bites were nice as well. This past Saturday while out and about in the Porsche with the top down, on a beautiful California morning, the end of the drive was Encinitas and our stomachs were growling for a meal and a beverage. After parking the car shortly before 1PM, we took a stroll along the main street in search of a proper establishment to meet our dining needs, and Roxy looked like the place. Nestled along the street, boasting sidewalk seating with ultimate "people watching" opportunities, the only additional requirement was a good menu, and their brunch menu checked all the boxes! After being seated, we were welcomed and greeted by Lucie and offered some cool water as we began the selection process. Arriving at the Pastrami Benedict, Chicken & Waffles, and two Pample Mousse Cocktails, we proceeded to gaze at the never ending parade of people passing before us. Roxy is very hipster, casual, dog friendly, beachy, and comfortable with outdoor and indoor seating. On Saturdays after 1PM, there is a 3.95% entertainment fee for live musical performances. When the food and beverages arrived, everything looked very delicious! The Pastrami Benedict was topped with perfectly prepared egg that oozed a rich yolk over the dish, and a single bite was heavenly, and the side of fried potatoes crisp on the outside and tender on the inside and completely complemented the dish. As for the Chicken and Waffles; it was presented on skewers and looked as if it was missing something. Somewhat of a "de-constructed" Chicken and Waffles consisting of just a drizzle of syrup on the plate. The chicken tenders were moist, and the waffles pieces were dry! Visually, I thought the plate was lacking cohesion and flavor. Requested additional syrup, but it didn't rescue the entrée, and it was not visually appealing. The cocktails were extremely refreshing, and complemented the meal and the ambiance of the establishment, aside from the unnecessary musical entertainment. Great customer service provided by Lucie! Very attentive, pleasant, professional, and accommodating. Overall, a great time, and I will return for the Pastrami Benedict! read more

Never again! Bartender was so rude. My friend ordered from her and she forgot about 30 minutes later she looks at us and says "what did you order again" she proceeds to make the worst tasting drinks barely had any alcohol. My friend tells her that it's together and she's paying with cash in her hand the bartender then replies " it's gonna be more than that". I came here on a Saturday around 230 with some friends to grab a bite to eat and a couple drinks. I love that they have happy hour every day from 3 to 6 PM!! We were instantly seated and ordered the cheese curds to share and then my friend got the Pastrami Benedict. I really loved the seasoning on the cheese curds and would order them again. My friend said she loved the Benedict too, and it was a huge portion. For drinks, we tried quite a few! I got the margarita and Mexican mule, which were both tasty. I love that they make a classic margarita here. The bloody Mary's are also super fun and they each come with a little mini beer. Unfortunately, they did run out of bloody Mary and sangria stuff so that was disappointing. The service was a little slow, but overall, they were pretty friendly. But, no that was not good enough for them. They proceeded to make a scene and the young guy pushed me.., I'm a 63 year old disabled woman and this young man pushed me! Intimate and cozy, it features a cute stage--perfect for a singer or two, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Heather, the bartender for the night, was an absolute powerhouse. She worked nonstop for the entire two-hour event, keeping drinks flowing without missing a beat. Her hustle and efficiency didn't go unnoticed! Stopped by the Roxy a while back for Sunday brunch and was delightfully impressed. I've heard great things over the years and the place certainly lived up to the praise. Right in the middle of downtown Encinitas, the Roxy offers a large space that included live music. The chicken and waffles were fantastic and my girlfriend enjoyed her Kale salad. They say their Bloody Marys are the best in town - not sure if it's the best I've had in SD, but it was very delicious.
