I have been here twice and both were not great experiences. It is your average diner but the first time our party waited 1.5 hours for the food and we chalked it up to it happens and we did not write them off. The second time to start the new year we waited 1.5 ours AGAIN for our food. The food was not cooked well, the service was very rude, they had bad excuses. They had said they had a reservation of 20 that was being focused on which is not the best thing to say to a table of 8 waiting for their food. They were out of potatoes and for a breakfast place that is not a great look. read more

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION. T's Café is now open for dinner on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I was here last Thursday and had their filet mignon dinner and it was fantastic. For $20.00 I got a 6 oz filet with mashed potatoes and a hearty serving of vegetables. The filet wasn't as thick as you would get at some other more pricey restaurants but the flavor more than made up for it. The potatoes are probably the creamiest I have ever had. Creamier the better I say. Vegetables were cooked perfectly and were a nice variety of zucchini, butternut squash and carrots. So get yourself down to dinner on Tuesday or Thursday for dinner. This seems to be a trial period and I would like them to continue this service because if I get a hankering for a great steak that won't break the bank then T's will be my go to. read more

FOOD COMPLAINT DEPT: T's Cafe in Solana Beach This last Saturday, 6/15 my family took me to T's Cafe in Solana Beach to celebrate Father's day. Shortly after being sat another (rather awkward) guy with a camera was sat next to us. We noticed the waitresses bringing this guy out different dishes of food. The waitresses would then leave this guy with the food while the guy moved the food around so it looked aesthetically pleasing. He would then photograph the food and, over time, the waitresses would come back and take the food to whichever customer had ordered it. One of these dishes was literally picked off this guy's table and immediately delivered to my youngest child right in front of us. This was obviously unnerving as we watched this guy park his old beat up car, walk in and sat down without ever washing his hands, while touching his camera equipment, and absolutely no supervision by any employees.. have the freedom to touch our food, and the food of our young. I requested to speak with the manager who came from the kitchen. When the manager, who I believe to be the owner, arrived, I asked her why this strange guy with unwashed hands was touching our food unsupervised? She replied, I was watching him. Not that it matters, but she was not in the room and was absolutely NOT watching him. I asked if he was an employee. She replied, no. I asked if he had a food handlers card. She replied, no. I asked if she understood my concerns and instead of apologizing she got super defensive and unfriendly. So we decided to leave.. On the way out I took pictures to validate this story. Thank you to all staff members at T's Cafe for making us feel welcome! Spontaneously stopped in today while walking in Solana Beach. They have a fun outdoor seating coffee/bar area right on the 101 which caught our attention. We happened to run into the owners on our way in and gladly sat down for a home cooked meal after hearing this place is family owned and operated. The coffee was hot and our server was very attentive! There was plenty of comfy indoor booth and outdoor patio seating to choose from. We started with the T's famous Blood Mary made with their signature in-house mix - delightful! For my meal, I went with the Corned Beef Hash Florentine. I had to fight to keep forks off my plate with this poached egg and hash showstopper! This place makes you feel right at home - arrived at 10a and enjoyed it so much we stayed until noon. Probably more like a three & a half stars, but I really enjoy my time here, so I rounded up. The food is good, and eating outdoors there is fantastic. My only complaint is the length of time to order & get seated. It's bad. You stand in line & order like your at a fast food place, only the staff is not trained (Clearly) to deal with that operation. I have never been anywhere where people are supposed to be helpful , & just look down & ignore you. However, once you get through that 10-15 minute process, you pay in advance, then you are seated, and then you can enjoy. Once at your table, the staff rocks. Many servers working to help you enjoy good food at a good value. It has a brunch vibe, with a great bar every time they are open. You sit amongst the world passing you by, really relaxing. Occasionally they hire this guitarist named Tom, he is the best solo/restaurant entertainment I have ever been around. This is my #4 breakfast spot in SoCal. read more

T's cafe is one of the best brunch/breakfast spots in Solana Beach. Their menu has a little bit of everything - perfect for larger groups so everyone can get what they're craving. My favorite part is the never ending list of eggs benedict that they have - my favorite are the Solana Sunrise, Surfside Crab Cakes, and Nova Lox. Their service is always great and all the staff is so friendly. We go once a month - maybe more and I don't see that changing! read more

Excellent service, delicious food and drink. Came here for breakfast after a walk on the beach one Sunday and everything was outstanding. The staff was friendly, my coffee cup was never empty and the food came out hot and fresh. The Bloody Mary was well balanced and was just what the doctor ordered. Crab cake and Good ole Bennie were perfect and the build your own omelet was stuffed full with bacon and mushrooms. Will definitely make this place our go-to breakfast spot on beach days. read more

If I could give this cafe zero stars I would without a doubt. T's cafe?? This place should be called The Waiting Room after my party waited for what felt like an eternity. We ordered one simple meal which seemed to take longer than a sloth on sedatives to arrive. It was served with a side of disappointment and a couple pieces of toast that we didn't know we were getting charged for. As we sat waiting for our one meal, termites started raining down from the ceiling like confetti! They don't advertise that this place isn't just a cafe--it's an all you can eat PEST buffet! No one wants a side of insects with their extra charge of toast. I expected gourmet toast for that extra charge but instead received a simple piece of bread with a measly slab of butter on it. T's cafe--where the only thing served promptly is your rising blood pressure. Save yourself the time and head over to Denny's instead. read more

I had to stand up three times, first because the table was dirty, there were pieces of bread and honey in the table. This concerns me very much because of Covid obviously. The second time it was because they didn't brought any spoons or sugar for my coffee (The coffee also wasn't good I got the cappuccino) So it wasn't very comfortable. My friend asked for jalapeños at the beginning when we were ordering our food and the waitress brought the jalapeños when we were signing the check. The food was not great, really big sandwiches but they weren't that good. My plate (Bagel Delight) I asked that instead of fries they put salad, the salad was all over the plate like as if a horse was going to eat it, just arugula with tomato and dip. the bagel delight was more like an avocado toast with a bunch of arugula on top of my meal and the rest of the plate. Okay, I had nice experience getting breakfast here. But sometimes the waiting time can be annoying. Once they said it's 30-40 min to get sited only, but it took only 10 Once we were waiting for food for about 40 min. It's a cute place, especially outdoor seating, there's live music on the weekend, so could be really busy - again plan extra time! Food, drinks are delicious though. They might be kinda short stuffed, just get more patience :) I would definitely come again and I wish them success and grateful guests! read more

Our second less than stellar breakfast in Solana Beach in one week. It looks like a place that has been there for a long time. Probably beloved by the locals but if so it's resting on its laurels. There were 4 of us for breakfast. We were seated promptly in a booth as we requested. Downhill from there. 2 coffees were ordered. They arrived 3/4 full full of grounds, obviously the bottom of the pot. A promise of fresh coffee was promised but slow to be delivered. As we started to order we found they were out of several breakfast essentials. No sausage, hash browns or pancakes. My husband ordered chicken fried steak which arrived without the promised gravy. When he requested gravy a cup of coagulated lump was delivered. I ordered a skillet with home fries, Swiss cheese, chorizo and scrambled eggs. It arrived with potatoes that were pretty hard and overcooked chorizo. No toast was forthcoming until we reminded the server to bring it with the aforementioned fresh coffee. So you get the idea, slow service, crummy food and the tab for the four of us was over $100 with tip. There is a Dennys on Via de la Valle and Hwy 5. It's probably a better choice. read more

Great place for breakfast. Showed up at 9:30 on Sunday and got seated right away. It was busy but not enough for a wait. I have been here before and expected a wait. This place is worth a little wait. Not a long one but a little one. I have read some of the bad reviews and might be able to see a little service issues but not to lose any stars over. They don't get any for great service but don't lose any either. The parking is OK. I have been here four times and always found a spot in the back. I can see how, if I didn't get a spot, it would stink but it's solana beach and where on the coast, is there tons of parking? Food is good. I have had the scramble, my daughter gets the kids pancake and we add bacon, my boy got the two egg breakfast? I ordered the eggs Benedict corned beef hash. Corned beef was salty and tender and delicious. Hollandaise, had to google the spelling lol, sauce was perfect. Egg was poached just right. Really a good breakfast. Serving sizes aren't huge like a lot of places and I appreciate that. I don't need 5,000 calories in one sitting. Coffee is excellent and the water is, for some reason, really good. I've been wanting to try T's Cafe ever since I moved to North County. I've driven by it a million times and this past Saturday finally made it inside. It was 9.30 a.m. and surprisingly not too crowded. It's like an old fashioned coffee shop, with the added quirkiness of a fire pit in the middle of the dining room. I had the California Potato Skillet and it was just delicious. A little frying pan served sizzling hot with home fries on the bottom, covered with two eggs over easy with pieces of turkey, topped with hollandaise sauce and a few slices of avocado. Really really good. Filling and tasty. Darcy just had two eggs scrambled with veggies and sausage pieces, and a side of bacon. The bacon was underdone so ask for well done if that's what you want. Fathers day brunch. Always the best. We got seated fairly quickly especially since its was packed. A great patio table in the beautiful sun. I had my usual eggs scramble which was ok. The eggs were overcooked that day which is unusual. My son had the corn flake crunchy French toast. A great portion, nicely cooked. The side of fruit came with the upgraded fruit I like to say. Berries, pineapple, not your usual grapes n melon. The chix fried steak Benedict was massive covered with gravy on top of biscuits. They were rich and my ex loved every single bite. Love this place. T's has a diner type feel in central Solona Beach. Within walking distance of many of the shops and workout spots it's a great location for good food and quality service. The menu is huge and diverse, and everything I've ordered there was good diner-type food with a diner-type price. I am especially fond of the sausage benedict. But waiting in a line to place the order was long, the service chaotic (sauces never arrived), the sidewalk scenery basic, and I couldn't get over that hair. Don't eat here. They mean well but can't effectively run the business. We called ahead and asked about wait time. They said 5-10 minutes. We got there and ordered and the food took 75 minutes to come out!! They offered us drinks and grits while we waited to their credit. I get that kitchens are short staffed right now but it felt deceptive for them to not let us know the wait would be long when we ordered. They were nice enough but the food was just mediocre. Not a fan at all of the check in process. You stand in line to order at an outside bar that seems like it takes forever to get waited on. You order and pay then get seated to your table. There were plenty of open tables. Food was ok. Coffee wasn't very hot. My French toast was dry and not eggy. Egg bennnies were ok . In fact none of the food was very hot. BEST BREAKFAST PLACE IN NORTH COUNTY This place has history, open for over 35 years and still packed with people and delicious food. They've perfected breakfast in my opinion and hope you feel the same, from the servers, to the owner Pam who treats this place and her guests as family. My favorite meal is breakfast so I'm a bit of a foodie when it comes to breakfast places. This place is my fav for many reasons: unparalleled homemade Bloody Mary, damn good hollandaise, yummy sausage gravy for their biscuits and house made corn beef hash. The menu is extensive and I think I've tried just about everything on there. T's (formerly Mr. T's) Cafe has been around forever! I've been in a few times over the years and while I've never had an awesome experience, it's always been ok. The service and food are generally good, and I try to be easy-going as I've worked in a number of restaurants in my day. However, a year after George Floyd's murder, I've been seeing things a bit differently. T's isn't holding up so well under that lens. White folks may not always see racial discrimination, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. As a brown skinned man in America, I see it all of the time. And today at T's, my mom and I were very likely treated differently because of the color of our skin. After placing our order, we waited 15 minutes for a latte. 5-10 minutes later, a couple who arrived 10 minutes after us received their food. I bet you can guess their ethnicity? When our food came 10 minutes later, my mom's order was wrong. They took back her entrée, but rather than rushing to get it back out like I would when I worked in a kitchen, I was able to finish my entire meal before hers even showed up. Finally flustered, my Mom asked a busser, "Can I please have my food?" It must have been ready and sitting under a heat lamp, because he came right back out with it. The other table that also arrived about 15 minutes after we got there got their food immediately after she did. They too were white. Out of 20 or so customers, we were two of the three brown people at the restaurant today. Yet when it comes to the staff that we saw, two of the three we saw were brown. Consciously or unconsciously, racial discrimination is still alive in America. I have a very hard time coming back to North County, where I grew up, because I find I'm often treated poorly when I'm here. I am tired of being treated differently for being a brown man. And I won't be going back to T's Café. I do, however, want to acknowledge that there is a chance something else was going on. Maybe they delivered our meal to the table behind us on accident? Plus, I have to give them props for even being open right now. Running a restaurant during Covid has got to be one of the hardest things to do--when we went to T's today, they were understaffed and that staff was hustling. I do appreciate their hard work. I just encourage them, and all of us of every color and identify, to reflect on the way we treat others. Systemic injustice is everywhere in America--we can all do more to change that. Including me.
