No prices on the menu (red flag #1), and then this shows up: a single slice of bread, one piece of ham, one egg, and a handful of greens drowning in dressing to make it look like more food than it actually is. This isn't elevated brunch -- it's the bare minimum dressed up as something fancy. No béchamel, no real effort, no substance. Just a glorified open-faced ham & egg toast with a side of overpriced leaves. I don't mind paying for quality, but this felt straight-up deceptive. If you're charging $21, at least make it feel like a full dish -- not something I could throw together at home in 5 minutes. Great location and potential, sure. But value? Not even close. read more

Cute French café... customer service was really terrible. The woman taking the order super rude. Got a large iced mocha with an extra shot. Came out hot. Ask them for an iced. They just dumped the hot onto the ice so after 30 minutes of waiting, I got a watered down iced coffee for $10. The staff couldn't care less. read more

Been a regular, weekly customer here since they opened. For the first time ever, I asked for a refill on my iced tea. Was told they don't do refills. Requested I pay for another tea. This...after spending $37 on lunch and pastry and additionally giving a $6 cash gratuity. I understand this is a tough time for Restaurants but in a competitive market with new french restaurant's opening up, you'd think they could at least value the customers they have by providing a refill of a very nominal beverage. The food and bakery goods are fresh and delicious. There is also a nice selection of drinks but I had water. The service is quick and there is a quaint covered patio in the back with tables and chairs. There is also a bar area with bar stools to sit in the front of the store. There is street parking. This has been our favorite treat spot for years and we take all our out of town friends and family here. The almond croissants are incredible (get there early - they run out), the cafe miel and matcha latte are perfection and we love their breakfast vegetarian crepes (even the gluten free one is amazing). Our kids love the fresh made pastries and sitting on the patio. The staff are always so welcoming and they've created a great environment that does feel like it transports you outside of our local town. We paid a 10% egg fee on the TOTAL bill. 4% restaurant tax. Let's start with the good stuff first. . The french corner has the most amazing crêpes, and my family enjoyed having breakfast here. Great quality food and really nice staff. Once I got home, I looked at my receipt because I did think it was a bit more expensive than I was expecting. Come to find out , I was very disappointed to see A 10% egg tax on the total bill and a 4% restaurant tax. I have no problem paying extra for Eggs but to charge it on the total and not per meal is unacceptable I was the only person that actually had eggs inside my crêpe and even though crêpes are made using eggs, I find it hard to justify $5.30 worth of eggs went into three crêpes. I should have scrutinized the bill at the restaurant. I also added a two dollar tip for the charming service. We are a family of five and unfortunately will not be coming back. We spent $75 for four people. Just the orange juice was eight dollars because I'm sure it was fresh squeezed but to then make me pay $.80 for eggs on my Orange juice is taking advantage of the customer. It's just plain sneaky , so now five more customers will not be coming here. I would recommend they change their pricing . read more

New discovery with a French flavor. My friend Sandra found this coffee shop/corner cafe and the '101 Spaniards' + another French friend went there recently. Pastries and coffee fantastic, but the best was the service. Love the people working there, so cool and friendly. We felt like at home, and of course I took out my cute table cloth to make the situation more 'Frenchie'. I did not know much about this area up of Encinitas and this coffee shop is going to be one of out staples for our girlfriend's outings from now on. read more

Nut allergy alert!!! We asked if the dessert we were getting had nuts due to the kid having a nut allergy. The lady said "NO." So we purchased it... Luckily, we checked before giving it to the kid. SO CUTE! I came here randomly and the place is adorable. There is no seating inside but there's plenty of seating and patio space! I brought my pup and we sat on the side balcony. I ordered the madeline and canele, both were pretty good, not amazing but good. The madeline was as good as most places. The canele was adorable, heart-shaped!! The flavor was good, but it was soggy. However I LOVED the Le Noir coffee. I had it hot and it was soooooo good on a chilly day. I really enjoyed this place and want to try all their other options. My friend lives nearby and recommended this place to our group who was in town visiting! We came on Saturday morning and they were pretty busy. The inside is very small, it is standing room only and has just enough space for you to order then go back outside. They do have lots of patio seating though! I was impressed at how big their menu is, they have a lot of options to choose from and several delicious looking pastries on display. I think everyone in my group went for a sweet crepe and a coffee! I got the nutella crepe with strawberries and the lavender latte. The latte was really good, I could taste the lavender flavor but it was not too overpowering. I got a 12oz but it seemed like the whipped cream took up more space in the cup than I would've liked, so it felt like much smaller than 12oz of coffee. The crepe was delicious! The batter was thin enough but not too thin. They used the right amount of nutella for the filling and I really liked how it tasted paired with strawberries and whipped cream on top. I do not know how they put such great flavor in such a small location! It is amazing. We had the mini cream puffs, ham & cheese sandwich and Caprese sandwich. Everything was fresh and delicious. I felt that the pesto would have added more to the dish if it was evenly distributed. My husband ordered a ham omelette (he told me it tasted dry) and a coffee.
