I love that they're a little smaller than standard donuts because it meant I could sample more flavors! The nitro cold brew was great, too. As for the donut flavors I tried... BRUNCH BROAD - 10/10 A perfect donut. I grabbed an extra one to go for my boyfriend (even though he's not a huge donut fan - I was sure he'd like it). He ate it the next day and loved it so much he took a picture of the packaging so we could come back, haha. The maple scent is strong and intoxicating! NANTUCKET - 9/10 Also amazing. The warm caramel and sea salt were absolutely delicious. CREAMSICLE - 8/10 A really unique and delicious donut! I'd order this one again for sure. CINNAMON SUGAR - 7/10 Classic and delicious. We came down to Encinitas to grab a bite to eat. Unfortunately, the streets were closed off for a Farmers Market event. Luckily, we found a parking spot nearby and we were able to explore around the area. This time, we were able to walk around to see what else was located nearby. While walking down Coast Highway, we saw some large advertisements for Broad Street Doughnuts. The photos were colorful and we were in the mood to try something new. We had never heard of Broad Street Doughnuts, so we were hoping that these would be delicious. Broad Street Doughnuts is located off of PCH, in the city of Encinitas. This is their only location on the west coast. They have 3 other locations in New Jersey, so it's great that they opened up a shop out here. They share a parking lot with other businesses, so parking is relatively easy. Their doughnuts are made to order. You will not get that stale, day old taste when you take your first bite.They are fried up after you place your order and then the toppings are applied. It beats staring are doughnuts through a case and ordering what may have been sitting there for hours on end. The menu is on the wall and it's totally visual. Each combo is displayed in a vivid photo. You can select from those or from the doughnuts that are near the register. The doughnuts at the front counter are not featured on the visual menu, so you may need to ask about their toppings/combos. I got a classic rainbow sprinkled doughnuts, along with a half glazed and half chocolate sprinkled doughnut. We also ordered a cotton candy doughnut that had what looked like dried out cotton candy. Delicious!!!! These doughnuts were light and fluffy. They were warm to the touch and incredibly fresh. They are a bit smaller in size, when compared to an average size doughnut. They seem prefect in size because you could walk the calories off while exploring around Encinitas. Broad Street Doughnuts was a pleasant surprise. Sometimes the visual representation isn't always an indicator of how good the product will be. In this case, the product lived up to the visual representation. We have passed by Broad Street Doughnuts many times, and finally had an opportunity to stop by. Hot and fresh, fresh, fresh donuts here! All donuts are made to order and you can witness them being made. This cute little shop grabbed our attention while we were enjoying a morning drink. We walked right in and were greeted by a friendly face. A large menu with so many choices and 40 flavors to choose from. They also offer vegan and gluten free donuts. Since the donuts are made to order, you can substitute toppings and create your own donut. On the weekends they offer specials as well. We went with an order of nine donuts and as soon as we got them to our table, we all enjoyed one. So delicious coming out of the shop, my mouth was watering with the anticipation of tasting these yummy treats. They are a smaller donut but packed with so much flavor. Extremely warm customer service, and a family like environment with multiple generations of folks working together to bring a smile to patrons' faces. I tried the Broad Street and West Side donuts. We were also generously comped a flight of one of their specialties - churro-donuts. All arrived fresh, warm and so delicious. The donuts were a reasonable size and not too sweet. The texture of the churro-donuts was also delightful. It feels like Broad Street cares about serving up fresh, custom creations instead of over-indexing on visual appeal and size over quality as I've experienced at other donut shops. I went to Broad Street Donuts last weekend and it totally lived up to the hype. We tried the Boston crème and another one filled with banana cream and Nutella. Both were phenomenal. They make the donuts fresh to order, so it took about five minutes to get ours. I would imagine the wait would be longer depending on how busy they are, but it was absolutely worth the short wait. The staff were super helpful when we were asking about flavors and gave great suggestions. Fair warning, the donuts are huge. But honestly, that just makes them more fun to share or to enjoy twice. They even have doggie donuts that they give for free! My pups loved them too! read more

I appreciate the size - how it's a manageable sized doughnut that's not too big nor too small, for some it may be on the smaller side but it's perfect for me. The dough is fluffy like a pillow and soft, light and felt weightless - no density, and has the perfect moisture. The Bavarian cream gave it that little extra moisture but not making it too soggy. Ratio of doughnut to cream was about 50:50. Thought I'd get sick of the cream but was satisfied with it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND I think I'm going to explore their A Little Extra menu more often. My husband and I adore a good donut, so while visiting Encinitas, we decided to try Broad Street Dough Co. Upon entering we were greeted by staff who were friendly and helpful. The menu is fairly big and can be slightly overwhelming. They had display donuts to view which only added to that feeling of "what should I order?". After much debate we decided on "Old School" glazed and chocolate donuts, the BDSC Specialty S'mores Galore donut and a "Little Extra" West Park donut. The donuts all had the same base, the toppings and frostings are what makes them different. This was slightly disappointing as we were hoping to experience different flavor profiles and textures. I honestly have no words--I am completely in love with Broad Street Dough Co. The variety of gluten-free vegan donuts is absolutely out of this world. Not only are they made fresh to order, but they come out warm, fluffy, and insanely delicious. If I lived in San Diego, this would 100% be my daily go-to spot. Just... wow. Every donut I tried was great, but my top three were: 1. Lemon Jelly 2. Chai Town 3. Strawberry Fields I also tried Coco Loco, The Aztec, West Park, and Wake & Bake, and honestly, every single one was delicious. All the others were amazing as well, but those three truly stood out in flavor and texture for me. The shop itself is clean, welcoming, and has a great vibe. Customer service was exceptional--the staff member who helped me was incredibly kind, patient, and answered all my questions (I wish I caught her name!). She explained that they use separate sections for gluten-free vegan donuts and also accommodate nut allergies, which I really appreciated as someone with celiac disease. That said, they do also make regular donuts and regular vegan donuts, so there is still a risk of cross-contamination--just something to keep in mind. The safety protocols are clearly in place, and they are very transparent and accommodating. I also ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk, which was delicious. They don't add sweetener to their matcha by default (which I love), but syrups are available if you prefer it sweeter. I added just one pump of vanilla since the donuts were already sweet--perfect balance. And let me tell you... I'm still thinking about these donuts. They were so flavorful, light, and fluffy. I don't think I've ever had a gluten-free and vegan donut that was this fluffy before. You can really tell they focus on freshness and make batches to order. They even offer complimentary water, which is such a thoughtful touch. Overall, the staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. We were so excited to come here since we are dairy and gluten-free, and they advertised having so many options that fit our restrictions. Most of the staff are much younger individuals (assumingely high school or early college), which is fine, but consequently the customer service was horrible and fit the exhausting stereotype of Gen-Z. Distracted. Disengaged. Lacking any form of care. We ordered the classic chocolate vegan gluten free donut and the broadwalk vegan gluten free, which is a vanilla rainbow sprinkle. The total before tip was about $7 and despite experiencing no customer service, we still tipped. These "donuts" were awful. Both the chocolate and vanilla were completely undercooked and just pure warm mush with hot icing that was pure liquid and spilling over everything the moment we tried to eat it. The literal raw dough we were served had very little taste on its own. The chocolate frosting tasted fine but the "vanilla" frosting tasted like nothing but pure powdered sugar. My husband and I were so dang disappointed. The cherry on top was that we both walked away with stomach aches after eating the donuts too. The donuts are "made to order", and there is a menu for selecting the donuts you order. We chose six different donuts plus two gluten-free ones. I was hoping for some French crullers -- the light airy, fluted, ring-shaped glazed doughnut extruded from choux pastry -- in the mix, but everyone was a dense cake donut, including the "filled" donuts. Stopped here on a weekend when I was waiting on some friends. The place is small but cute inside. They have free little donut dog treats if you have a fur baby. They make the items fresh while you wait, which definitely makes a difference. I checked out the menu and saw they had beignets, in 3 different flavors. They all looked extremely good, but I decided to try the original powdered ones. They definitely did not disappoint. The beignets were warm and tasty. A little crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. You get 3 for around 6 dollars. You will definitely get powder all over, so be prepared. If you like freshly made, warm donuts... this is your spot! The menu describes each donut and there are pictures on the opposite wall. Each donut takes about 2 minutes to prepare. Both of my two donuts looked exquisite. The Nantucket with hot caramel and sea salt was my first choice, and it was good. I was reminded that hot caramel has a more intense taste, as opposed to the mellow taste of cold caramel. The Route 66 chocolate dipped with chocolate sprinkles was my second choice. On my way to the Scotty Cameron store, I stumbled upon Broad Street Dough Co. and decided to give it a try. I got the Aloha Broad, churro croissant bites, and a cold brew. Everything is made to order, which was a nice surprise. The Aloha Broad had a good balance of sweetness from the pineapple with toasted coconut on top. The churro croissant bites were flakey, warm, and had just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. Cold brew hit the spot. It's definitely on the pricier side, but you can taste the quality. Walked up to Broad Street Dough Co after having dinner not far away. I didn't have 'eat a donut' in the evening on my bingo card that night, but thought 'why not' and gave it a go . I knew nothing about them, but the gentleman at the register explained to us a few things, and they had illustrations of each donut they had. We grabbed a couple. I was pleasantly surprised they were reasonably priced. We sat down outside, and again surprised to find my donut was warm. No complaint there. I had the most life altering experience this morning at Broad Street Dough co. I'm not usually a big fan of decadent fancy donuts because they can be overwhelming, and stacked with too many toppings. Joseph kindly supports the Encinitas Chamber and offered me a donut - to which I selected a banana glaze with chocolate drizzle. It was THE most perfect donut. Warm, fresh, perfectly crispy while still being soft and fluffy, and most importantly the flavor came through so organically, filled with unmistakable but not overwhelming banana flavor. The serving size is also perfect, which I really appreciated. Great options for all of your dietary restrictions too! Staff were friendly and service was so quick. You can tell each worker is happy to be there. This location is perfect - right on the corner with plenty of parking and outdoor seating galore. This is a very cool doughnut shop located along Pacific Coast Highway in Encinitas. The interior is charming and the doughnuts are made fresh to order and are extremely attractive. We tried the popular Wake and Bake which is coffee-flavored with chocolate chips. However, the coffee flavor was hardly noticeable so this one was a bit of a disappointment. It's an ok doughnut but if they upped the coffee flavor by a lot, it would be much better. The Broadstreet, made with chocolate, pretzels, peanuts, and caramel, was solid. The S'mores Galore was the star of the show. It is made with chocolate, graham crackers, marshmallows, and caramel. It's beautiful looking and absolutely delicious. The doughnuts are all freshly made and come to you warm. They look like belly bombs but they are delightfully lighter than you might expect. The menu is awesome and I would gladly them again. I reallllllly wanted to believe the hype about this place, especially since they have vegan and gluten free options! But after trying it today I have to say, not everything that glitters is gold. Granted, making vegan/gluten free donuts is not an easy feat to conquer, but the two donuts I got today were severely undercooked, lacking in flavor, and just tasted like straight sugar. All of the staff were teenagers, or early college age at most, and there wasn't much customer service or friendliness. The shop itself is located in a cute shopping center and has a decent amount of seating area for the space. All in all really bad donuts that ended up giving me a straight stomach ache. Not worth it. I never write reviews like this but I felt inclined to do so in hopes of helping someone else that is gluten free! I went to this donut shop a couple of times very excited that they are gluten free friendly. As it appears many of their donuts are gluten free on their menu. I ordered donuts and thought they were incredible, only to realize on my third visit to their shop, that I had been ordering and eating donuts that were NOT gluten free! The first time I tried this donut shop I asked the worker what "VG" and "G" meant next to their donut flavors on the menu and he explained that it meant the donuts were either (G) gluten free or (VG) Vegan and gluten free. I thought how wonderful, considering I'm gluten intolerant and LOVE donuts. I proceeded to order multiple donuts and then eat them. Thinking about how good they were, I returned another time. It wasn't until my third visit that I realized you have to ASK and notify the employee while ordering, that you want the donuts to be made gluten free. They DO NOT come this way. It wasn't until receiving my third order that I realized the real "gluten free" donuts tasted nothing like the first two I had ordered (that were not gluten free). Making me realize I had eaten gluten twice from this donut shop, under the impression the flavors I had ordered were naturally gluten free. The menu is so deceiving, as directly next to their flavors, it shows a large "G" symbol, making it appear that the flavor is gluten free. And this business doesn't do a good job of explaining or even asking if you want them gluten free or vegan. The menu makes it seem like all of the flavors with "G" are already gluten free. I think they should be required to ask each customer if they need the donuts gluten free or vegan. Simply due to how they advertise their donuts. Very frustrating and scary as a gluten allergy is very real and serious! read more

But then, fresh out of the oven, warm, and perfectly golden, they proved that size does not matter.
