    Pink Lady + Pumpkin
    Wendy G.

Stopped by here during a post-dinner walk. I'm a cookie fiend, but have been let down at other SD cookie spots more than once due to their focus on style over taste and non-homemade, uniform consistency. Batch & Box stands out above the other cookie chains. The flavor combinations are interesting, you can taste fresh fruit and creative textural elements, and the cookies appear handmade. The cookie texture itself is somewhat odd - - thick, a bit dry in some spots and moist in others but at least it doesn't taste mass produced. The Pink Lady, featuring strawberry chunks and white chocolate swirls, was my favorite followed closely by the zany, marshmallow topped pumpkin chocolate chip cookie.

The Classic x2, The Doodle, The Oaty Chip, The Pink Lady, and The Sugar

We got half a dozen for $25 and tried The Classic x2, The Doodle, The Oaty Chip, The Pink Lady, and The Sugar. All were tasty, thick, and chunky. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside and they don't skimp on ingredients! My favs were the Pink Lady, as you can really taste the strawberries and it was a good amount of sweetness, and the Doodle, a classic snickerdoodle that wasn't overly sweet. We came on a weekday evening and were in and out quickly. Cookies were still fresh and moist the day after.

Out front of the store, in the plaza, so it's a good identifier if you are new to the area on where the store is located

During a girls trip to San Diego, for a concert, we stopped to eat an early dinner before arriving at the venue. After leaving dinner, the group agreed we needed "just a little something sweet". Several in the group wanted ice cream, but I am a sucker for a warm gooey cookie and happened to see Batch & Box. I can pass up ice cream any time but not a good cookie. While I waited for my friends to order their ice cream, I watched a steady stream of customers go in and out of this cookie store. Although I had never heard of this place before, I could tell they are a big hit in this area. So I jumped in line and was so happy I did! It is hard to tell by looking at their cookies that they are soft and gooey inside because they are a thick and tall mound of a cookie. No thin, flat cookies here. But trust me, if you like a soft cookie with melting chocolate bits/chips/morsels this is a must get when in the area. I am a big fan of an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and their Oaty Chip is in my top 3 of all time. Despite its heaping mound of dough, this cookie is NOT raw inside. The rolled oats, dark chocolate morsels (not semi-sweet) and sea salt is decadent. Two of us shared this cookie and the sounds of delight coming from our mouths was almost inappropriate! We had melted dark chocolate all over our fingers and the cookie was so soft that I couldn't safely get my phone out to take a picture. I was not going to drop any cookie bits. Although the cookie experience did not last as long as my friend's ice cream, it was by far, the best sweet treat ever! My only complaint is there is not a Batch & Box in my area.

Cute and cozy cookie spot! Came on a weekday evening and it wasn't too busy but I can imagine how packed they can get during peak hours! We got a half dozen for around $25, and chose the Classic x2, The Doodle, The Oaty Chip, Pink Lady, and The Sugar. Of them all, my favorites were definitely the classic and pink lady. All the cookies are THICK and chunky, and have a crispy exterior with a soft, chewy interior! Some were a bit softer and sweeter than I prefer. They still tasted fresh the day after

Old review: taken nov 2020 The doodle: Omg. This was amazing!!! I love the bits of cinnamon sugar morsels inside. Reminded me of apple pie without apples. The lady: I love the raspberry bits in this. Tastes like a raspberry cheesecake. Would taste better w dark chocolate imo. I'm biased though. The Julian: Amazing! Apple pie in a cookie!! Cinnamony and delicious. Pumpkin spice: Pretty good. The white choco chips are a little overpowering though The sugar cookie: The frosting tastes like cream cheese and overpowers the cookie. The cookie is nice and soft though. The wonder: It's good but I think I would like classic better. Cocoa PB: This was good but the peanut butter flavor is strong.

Small, cute, and very clean cookie shop. The employee was super friendly and offered us samples. I ordered The Pink Lady cookie and it was delicious. It was perfectly sweet with strawberries and white chocolate chips throughout. The cookies are a great size and definitely indulgent. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more flavors!

such a cute cookie store. I came here a while ago actually before the rage of crumbl came out and this did not disappoint. it is insanely sweet so have a glass of milk or something. service was quick and friendly but there are so many decisions so try to make your mind before you get to the counter!

Dubai chocolate cookie! A few dollars more expensive than the regular cookies. Looking forward to trying it!
    Alyssa S.

Tried their new Dubai chocolate cookie. $2 more than a regular cookie. Rich, dense, lots of pistachio flavor. It was tasty and fun to try - but ultimately I think their regular chocolate chip cookie is more satisfying. Glad they had something new and I got to taste it; just doing the same old stuff all the time is boring. But the Classic is classic for a reason!

    Gluten free chocolate chip cookie

The cookies at Batch & Box delicious and gourmet. The gluten free chocolate chip cookie is soft, buttery, and stuffed to the max with chocolate chips. I appreciate that the gluten free cookies are wrapped separately to prevent cross contamination. The shop is small mostly used for pickup but is modern and clean. I do wish sometimes there would be a different flavor for the allergen friendly option because I'm jealous of all the other amazing flavors my husband gets to try!

    Perla R.

Batch & Box cookies are amazing! I was excited to try the seasonal pumpkin s'mores cookie they came out with this month and it did not disappoint, it was delicious! The regular s'mores cookie they have in the summertime I think may be one of my favorites ever but overall every other flavor I've had have also been yummy this is definitely a cookie spot to try!

    Celeste C.

I was looking for a gluten free desert for my friend. Unfortunately she's also allergic to nuts so she wasn't able to get anything since it was made with almond flour. I still got a few items. The cashier girl was nice and give me options but personally I wasn't wowed. The Dubai chocolate brownie was so small literally just a bite. The strawberry and cream cheese cookie I felt wasn't cooked well enjoy because it kept breaking down into pieces. I give it 3 starts because it is really cleaned and people we were really nice.

    Stephanie O.

I've never been to Batch & Box before and now I definitely will want to try their other flavors! While I'm skeptical of a pricy cookie, these are better than their other cookie competitors. I can see why it was busy on a Sunday night! We picked up the chocolate and peanut butter chip cookie and oat and chocolate chip cookie. Both were perfectly baked inside and out and a thiccc cookie! I hope I'll be back in the area for another cookie soon or will need to find a location closer to my place'

This is an elevated cookie shop located at the corner of Del Mar highlands near Jimbo market. It's right next to Handel's Ice Cream. It's perfect, cookies and ice cream! The decor is modern minimalistic. The place is clean . There's a large window to see inside their kitchen. Person who helped me was very patient. She went over the entire list of cookies they have. Only certain cookies are warmed up. Otherwise, they come out cold and hard. I got the seasonal Tiramisu cookie. While it was 2 cookies with a filling, it was hard. Perhaps I could've waited for it to be at room temp since it had just come out of the fridge. For the price I paid, I thought it was just OK. My son got the doodle warmed up and it was pretty good! I will say that they put the cookies in a nice box. Presentation was on point!

For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). We got a variety but the Banoffee Maritozzi was an interesting combination of a sliced banana and corn flakes. But the Orange Blossom Ube Financier was our favorite. Would definitely come back and get that again. The store is pretty small, so you get the baked goods togo, but if you can't wait to get them home they do have tables outside so you can enjoy them.

Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.

This review is for the rolled banana croissant . Every time I visit I always order the rolled banana croissant and it never disappoints!!! The round croissant is cut in half, piped with delicious cream that is perfectly sweet that goes so well with the caramel sauce and bananas, perfect combo! If the bakery reads this review, it would be even better if there were a few more banana slices inside or caramelized banana on top, IMO. One more thing, it would be awesome if you opened on weekends. Today I ordered the banana and creme brulee rolled croissant and the banana was better. I was the only customer so ordering was simple. There are 3 tables in the store and a few outside the store. I'll be back when I have another sweet craving.

They were amazing!!! I got the biscoff matcha latte with the biscoff foam and a few slices of cake. It was soooo good. I'm going try to plan for some relaxing time next time. The inside was beautiful and peaceful. Looks like a great place to start my day.

Hinar in downtown is such a beautiful and aesthetic spot. I love their earthy color palette (I want…read morethat paint color in my house lol) and the overall vibe of the cafe. The main seating area is almost always full, but there's more indoor seating in the back through the hallway (where the bathroom is), plus some outdoor seating to the side. The drinks are really good. I always get mine half sweet, and the flavors are consistently great. They also have a ton of cute, picturesque desserts. They're a bit too sweet for my taste, but you can tell a lot of care goes into making them and they're definitely tasty. Parking can be tricky downtown, and it can get busy with lines, but it's totally worth it for the drinks, desserts, and overall ambiance. FYI, they have a new location up north in Scrips Poway, it's cute but slightly different aesthetic (umm more industrial) and is in a strip mall, so, way more parking!
