Ok yum! What a treat zzz the cookie is delicious, the hot chocolate is great, everything about it is such a treat and so unique. Great dessert

I had to pick something up in this area so I decided to stop by this place. I went inside, the smell of delicious sweetness goodies baking filled my nose the moment I opened the door. They had about 2 people working that day, they had all the different cookies displayed in the window. While looking at the different kinds of cookies, there were at least 4 different groups of people that came in. I was only going to get 3, but ended up getting 7. If you buy 6, you get one free. Solana Beach-I guess their most popular cookie- 3/5 I expected to detect the saltiness, but none really. Scarlet Letter- 5/5 (Single Origin Chocolate chunks (Peru), fresh organic raspberries, natilla (Spanish custard) semi sweet drops) I did include the description since this one stood out. I think it was the fruit and probably custard that made this cookie very tasty. Butter Toffee Almond- 3/5 Didn't care for the almond, they were not crispy/toasty. 50 Shades of Chocolate- 4/5 (I did not really like this cookie, but my niece and sister did) I liked the bitter part, but needed to be a little bit sweeter. Oat-M-G- 3/5 Milk Chocolate Chunk-3/5 The OG-3/5 The cookies marked as 3's does not mean they were not 'good.' They are cookies so of course they are still good. They just didn't stand out, I would not drive to this location for them. The size of the cookies are not very big either, for the price of the cookie, you would expect them to be a tad bigger. Service:5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5

We were craving for sweet baked goods and stumbled upon the Solana Sumptuous Cookies. The staff was nice and greeted us with a smile. The place was clean and cozy. We ordered the oatmeal and s'more chocolate cookies and hot cocoa with caramelized marshmallows around the rim and whipped cream squeezed right at the center. The cookies were made fresh and delicious along with the crafty chocolate drink with a twist of bitter taste. It surely satisfied our sweet tooth.

Hello Yelp Community! You're in for a splendid treat at Solana Sumptuous Cookies. A scrumptious cookie with a scope of ice-cream is waiting for you. What a spectacular combination!! It will melt in your mouth and not in your hands (Lol). Definitely check it out for a heavenly experience!!! They have something for everyone ;-) Whenever I'm on the 5 and have my cookie craving, I make a pit stop at Sumptuous Cookies. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. Plus, they're the only dessert spot that offer peanut butter on their regular menu. I've always been a peanut butter lover...baked my 1st batch of cookies in my childhood. It's difficult to find this option nowadays. A BIG THANK YOU to Solana Sumptuous Cookies for having peanut butter as one of your flavors. You're a godsend! :-)

This place is a definite must go. I would have liked to have given it five stars. I am very big at a greeting when you walk through the door so that being said, we did have to wait a bit before being acknowledged after we walked in. At the time we went it was not crowded at all. The place was bright with some neon signs in it , kinda cute. They did have a small amount of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. Putting that aside, the cashier was very friendly when he was helping us. We chose the hot chocolate with toasted marshmallow around the rim and two cookie sandwiches. This hot chocolate masterpiece has to be described in layers. Hot chocolate that is so rich and creamy and delicious. The chocolate is not Swiss Miss or anything low budget like that. You can tell it is high-quality chocolate. Around the rim is fresh toasted marshmallow fluff. You can tell it is fresh right when you take the first soft pillowie bite. On top of that, they put a chocolate chip cookie so warm and had very rich gooey chocolate. Then on top of that, they put fresh cream that tasted almost like vanilla ice cream. Then on top of that, they put a small heart shaped chocolate chip cookie. I was lost in the deliciousness of this drink. Our boys got the chocolate chip cookie sandwich. They chose cookies and cream. Wow! This was such a great cookie sandwich. The saltines and sweetness of the cookie was so flavorful. The ice cream also creamy and smooth. They definitely complimented each other. I will definitely come back again.

Stopped by Solana sumptuous cookies in Solana beach after I came across their beach s'mores hot chocolate on Instagram. When I got there around 730 today, I was informed by the cashier that they had already sold about 170 of these in a day! Apparently they were on the news and went viral shortly after. This is the holiday drink you don't want to miss. Made with South American cocoa wafers, no seed oils, and only natural ingredients, this hot chocolate is rich, creamy, and so comforting. Topped with a homemade marshmallow torched to golden, toasted perfection, plus a cloud of salted butter chantilly cream on top of a warm cookie. Sounds exceedingly sweet but it's really not. The hot chocolate was delicious and not cloyingly sweet like at Starbucks. The cookie on top went well with the cream as well, the marshmallow was my least favorite item of the concoction.

Had to get my tire fixed and this was right around the corner. The cookies smelled amazing and they were super yummy too. I hope they add more flavors like strawberry or cookies and cream. Service was super quick and nice. It was busy so it's def a hit spot! It's not a very big place, order and go, but they have seating outside.

We are so happy we found this gem in the community. In 2 weeks time we have been there twice. We live in south bay. Worth the drive. We've had the beach fire s'mores hot chocolate twice! Best hot chocolate ever!! We've grabbed a half dozen cookies twice and each one did not disappoint. Best cookies I've ever had!!! I highly recommend going for yourself or ordering some to be shipped to you! The owner is kind, warm, and friendly. Amazing small local business!!

The viral hot chocolate for the holidays ($16) - Dec 2025
    Candace C.

Cookies were good - their award winning solana cookie is yummy. Cookies range from 4-$6.50 or "MP" market price. 4 stars for cookies but 3 because the "viral" hot chocolate was sadly not worth it. $16 and we would not get it again since it's pricey. Good for photos but overpriced. Service was friendly and parking is easy in the plaza. They also serve Neiderfranks ice cream (local shops supporting other local shops are the best).

I had such a disappointing experience at Solana Sumptuous Cookie in Solana Beach and felt compelled to share. We stopped in because my son wanted a cookie while we were already nearby at Marshalls. Honestly we would have been better off grabbing a cookie from the Panera close by. This was our first time visiting and the experience was awful from the moment we walked in. The woman working was extremely rude. Since it was our first visit we were looking at the options which were very limited. We initially ordered two cookies and she asked if we wanted them warmed. I said yes and then clarified that we were actually only getting one cookie but still wanted it warmed. I also asked a simple question about whether they offered smaller sized cookies. Some cookie shops do so it felt like a reasonable question. She reacted very strangely and rudely saying nooooo this is all we have with a hostile tone and attitude. When she handed me the cookie I noticed it was not warmed at all and mentioned it. She rolled her eyes and said it just came out of the oven. It was not even warm. As I was walking out I told her she was very rude. Her response was okay so. I explained again that she should not treat customers that way especially first time customers. She then said she did not care and claimed she was a billionaire with three other businesses as if that justified being rude. At that point I asked for a refund because I no longer wanted to support the business and she refused. Completely unacceptable behavior. With the way customers are treated it is no surprise the place is always empty. To make matters worse the cookie itself tasted like cardboard. I will never return and would not recommend this place to anyone.

I saw their hot chocolate on Instagram and had to try it. In no way did it disappoint, it was fantastic! She made it in front of me as she explained what she was doing. The hot chocolate was sweet and rich in flavor. The handmade marshmallow cream was piped in and toasted. A soft warm cookie with the center removed in the shape of a heart. Fresh made Chantilly cream then the center placed on top. It's a bit expensive but the attention to detail, fresh ingredients made in house, and amazing flavors made it a unique experience worth every penny.

We had stopped here once before to try their hot chocolate but the employee that could make it didn't arrive till noon. Today the owner was present and made it for us. She suggested we share one and we were glad we did. It's really more a dessert than a hot chocolate. I love the toasted marshmallow ring. The chantilly cream was fresh made and so yummy. You can pick your cookie top but we went with the original Solana Beach cookie. The best part was the hot cocoa. They use high quality chocolate disks and it's rich and delicious. While some might find it not sweet enough, my husband and I prefer rich chocolate taste over sugary sweet. There are tables and chairs outside and we enjoyed it there. We also took home some cookies. My husband's favorite is the 50 Shades of Chocolate.

I can't rave enough about the cookies from Solana Sumptuous. These were hands down the best gluten free cookies I have ever had! The texture is so soft, buttery, and rich with flavor. The double chocolate chunk with sea salt on top was perfect. There is a wide variety of regular flavors available and my husband loved the s'mores one with toasted marshmallow. Can't wait to visit again and I'll be telling everyone to grab a delicious cookie!

This would have been an average San Diego coffee shop experience for me, except for the fact that I absolutely LOVED the cherry bomb! It's a cherry mocha and essentially a perfect drink for me. Back in 2019, Starbucks had a seasonal cherry mocha for Valentine's Day that I was obsessed with. Apparently I was the only one, because they haven't brought it back since. Cherry mochas are hard to come by, and I haven't really encountered another one. This one was delicious! The espresso was bold, the milk perfectly creamy, and the overall taste not too sweet (unlike Starbucks'). Wow!! I can already tell this will be a drink I daydream about. Unfortunately it was $7.50, which will prevent me from indulging very regularly. The rest of the menu is pricey too, with avocado toasts nearly reaching $20. (I may be a millennial, but I can certainly understand the negative stereotype when I see coffee shop prices like these.) Besides pricing, the other downside of this place is the limited seating. There were only 4 small outdoor tables, so unless you're with just one other person and you arrive before 10am, I'd suggest grabbing your coffee to go and taking a walk. My friend and I sat down, since there were open tables when we arrived. She enjoyed her iced honey cinnamon latte. If you love a cherry mocha or are looking for coffee in the design district, definitely come through!
