The cupcakes were so good. Perfectly moist. The staff were super nice and even gave us a free cupcake. The bakery is nicely decorated and very cute. We ordered a mini Red Velvet and a Chocolate cupcake, priced at about $2.75 each. This bakery is located at One Paseo, and parking was a breeze. You can park on the street or in the parking garage at One Paseo, near SusieCakes.

We stopped in after a trip to the beach for some cupcakes for my daughter's birthday. They had all kinds and cakes as well. We went with the seasonal pineapple upside down cake and red velvet. The cupcakes were so delicious. Moist flavorful and delicious. This was one of our favorite stops on our vacation.

Really well made cakes with quality ingredients. Well balanced and not too sweet as well. Customer service is on par and efficient even with an extremely busy weekend

Love how simple it is inside. It's a small space but very bright and clean. The service was great from the time I walked in to when I walked out. I like how they have mini sizes. It's just perfect if you're craving something sweet. I got the strawberry cupcake, it was a bit on the dry side. But I also got the chocolate vanilla cupcake and they were delicious. Super moist and not too sweet. Thank you Susiecakes - Del Mar for your hospitality.

My friends and I stopped by here for a quick dessert after a day of shopping around. It's a cute and cozy little cake shop! We tried the mini red velvet cupcakes and the chocolate cupcake. It was delicious and moist! The sweetness level was perfect, and I definitely enjoyed it! My friend accidentally dropped her cupcake while taking a picture, and the staff replaced it at no additional cost! She was super nice! I would definitely come back again and try their other desserts.

Nice location and love the colorful storefront and interior. Was in the area and decided to walk in and take a gander. I got a chocolate chip cookie (was good but wouldn't say the best I had ever had). It was light but felt like it didn't have as many chocolate chips as I would have liked. I also got a slice of their cranberry orange cake. This was very good, moist cake with a tarte interior and a light and sweet frosting. Was the perfect holiday combination. Staff was helpful and we were in and out with our goodies fairly quickly. Next time I am in the area I will for sure be picking up another slice of one of their yummy cakes!

Good to see Susiecakes at one Paseo. After a delicious lunch or dinner it's a treat to have dessert from here. Greeted by a great team behind the counter. Immediately, the carrot cake caught our eye. Unfortunately, the carrot cake only comes as a slice not available as a cupcake. We bought a slice and some other cupcakes. Chocolate Guinness was delish! Tasting the beer :) Coconut and lemon were tied for 2nd. Strawberry cupcake's frosting had an oily consistency compared to the other cupcakes and didn't have a strong enough strawberry flavor. Besides the chocolate the other cupcake's cake seemed a bit dense. Holds up well without the need of a fork. The carrot cake is A+! One of my favorites of all time. Cute retro branding :)

Adorable cupcakes! I had birthday cupcakes with in vanilla (pink icing) and chocolate. Rarely would I declare the chocolate to be the better, but it in this case it was. I loved the chocolate cupcake!! The vanilla one is too sweet/sugary. I knew this and still bought it because these are just too cute. This bakery is aesthetically pleasing, bright, decorated in pastels, and creates beautiful cakes. A nice thing is they are open late! :)

Came here last night. Loved loved loved the chocolate cake. The chocolate chip cookie was ok I liked the cake way more. Yes it's pricey but definitely worth it. Will definitely be back.

Delicious cupcake and cake shop! Love the seasonal offerings and gorgeous decorated cakes. It is definitely a premium dessert shop and the prices reflect that. But good for extra special occasions. The location in One Paseo has easy parking, friendly staff, and quick service.

What can I say, Susie Cakes sets the bar high when it comes to cakes. This is my go to spot and all their cakes are delicious. I usually get the celebration cake for birthdays and is always a crowd favorite with its vibrant blue frosting. Also, if you're not in the mood for cake they have plenty of other dessert i.e. cookies and cupcakes. Last, the bakery is very welcoming with friendly a staff.

This is a dense cake! I would recommend this cake/SusieCakes if you order your cakes to have buttercream frosting. Upon opening box, I was met immediately with butter. Service is friendly here and it's more of a grab and go. There is no seating inside so expect to get cakes and cookies and enjoy them elsewhere.

They are always so nice to us here. We've come near closing time usually and they gave us samples and got us hooked on the old fashioned chocolate cake. Today I was telling them that my son lost his playoffs game so I was here to cheer him up and buy him his favorite cake slice and they gave me a box of cookies and wrote good luck for his game Monday! We love the chocolate and marble cakes and my son requested it for his birthday this year and now my oldest wants it for her birthday too

Ask the Community - SusieCakes - Del Mar

Hi! I want to make an order for event date 5/24 Saturday. If I pick up the cake near closing the night before, will it be okay for the next day? The party starts at 11am, same as your open time so I can't pick up that morning.

Hello! Yes we will provide storage instructions for your cake flavor.

On Mondays after 6 pm, are cakes usually sold out? I'm trying to buy a cake for my friend before her birthday dinner.

Hello! We encourage you to give us a call, but we will make something happen for you even at the end of the day!

What are the seasonal pies this and next month?

We are not currently baking any pies, though we will offer Pumpkin, Apple, and Pecan pies in November.

Does anyone know how much their cakes are. I need dessert for an event next week?

You may view our most accurate pricing at this link. https://susiecakes.com/app/uploads/2021/10/SC-Menu-1021.pdf

Do you do mini cupcakes?

We bake mini cupcakes in our Vanilla, Chocolate, Red Velvet, and Flourless Chocolate flavors and these are available to order with 24 hours notice.

Do you offer gluten free cupcakes?

Hi Rosi, we do make a Flourless Chocolate Cupcake that is prepared without gluten.

My question is if given a bite of RV cake or a bite of RV cupcake would I know/ tell the difference? My thinking is the full cake is somehow better than a cupcake. Please advise.?

Our Red Velvet Cake has four layers of cake with Cream Cheese Frosting between the layers, and our cupcakes are filled and topped with a dollop of Cream Cheese frosting. While the cake and cupcakes are made of the same ingredients, some people enjoy… Read more

Do you have any dairy-free cakes?

For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

Also just so everyone is aware they're also liars just to mention & stupid.. she tells us her name is Karen thinking we don't know the owners name lol .. She was at the register at 7:20pm and was extremely rude and dismissive after we placed our order, especially regarding a child's dietary restrictions and health concerns. We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

Flour Atelier is a small bakery right next to the hovering Mitsuwa. They carry two refrigerated sections' worth of original treats and pastries, many with Asian flavors such as their ube leche flan and calamansi cheesecake. I'm a gluten free girly nowadays, but when I could eat their desserts I did love their cheesecake: a balance of cream-to-crust is important to me. And those flavors? Standout. Hard to find many other places. They also have tea and coffee, and my husband and I LOVE their hojicha latte, which boasts a nice earthy-to-sweet ratio. If you want a grounded flavor without getting another coffee, try the hojicha latte! The store itself is quite small, selling sweet treats, drinks, and even flowers through a collaboration with a florist. They have about 4 tables outside -- recommended for small parties, unless you come when it's empty with a group. BIG TIP: Bring your mother or mother-in-law here to impress -- that is, if she likes cute, sweet treats and a tea party vibe! My mom always loves coming here, and bringing the whole family, too Keep up the great work Flour Atelier!

Many reviews have noted this, and I would have to agree, especially for the size (crepe cake slices) and/or simple design (two layer naked cakes). We ended up trying a slice of their taro crepe cake. It was tasty - light, smooth, and included real taro - and had alternating layers of cream and taro; however, we were surprised with how small it was in person (vs photos) for $12.50 before tax. This is just below the price for an Extraordinary Desserts cake slice, which is not only bigger and more complex, but also made fresh. We noticed the crepe cake slice we got had that dusting of ice sparkles, indicating it was frozen and defrosting, and additionally, as it defrosted, the more it started leaning. Lines are always better with a friend and even though we all arrived before opening there was still a healthy line. I was really excited, to finally get to check them out, I saw on their socials that a new chef had taken residency and that they came with some Filipino flair. As a fellow Filipino I definitely wanted to support. I ended up ordering a lumpia roll, ube butter ensaymada, a halo halo tart and a egg sando sandwich along with an iced matcha with honey, with tip my total was $48, which isn't horrible considering these are meant to be higher quality pastries. My girlfriends and I found a table and decided we would share, I shared my egg sando sandwich and the lumpia roll, while they shared their ube butter ensaymada and the turon kouign amann. My matcha, was a horrible, it was a muddy green and really lacked any matcha flavor, my friend didn't like her matcha either and she had the miso caramel matcha. I didn't even finish my matcha and I can really take one down. We joked about how we should have opted for the orange juice instead. Now for the pastries, I was really underwhelmed by them, the ensaymada was just fine, I honestly cannot remember the taste of it, it lacked something. The egg sando sandwich, the filling was plentiful and flavorful BUT the bread was dry, was that potato bread? The texture was off for me and I ended up just scooping out the filling and eating it like that. Where the sando had a good amount of filling the lumpia roll lacked it, it was so sparse I figured it would be more like a sausage roll so I was taken aback by how little there was in it. Flavors were fine, the pastry was buttery but I just wanted a little more. The one pastry we agreed was better than the rest was the turon kouign amann, the crunchy bits of sugar was so reminiscent of turon but the filling, for me was like uncooked banana bread batter, that threw me off entirely. It was better, but not the filling. So overall, I would say it was okay, I guess for the costs it just didn't meet my expectations.
