This is one of my favorite dessert places! Please note that I have a super sweet tooth and this reallllly is where it's at if that's your jam. Getting mini or regular cupcakes from this place is always a solid choice for any event or to take to work. They also have small cakes, half cakes, full cakes and tiered! Their regular/celebration cake is a play off of funfetti and it is absolutely perfect. Sometimes I wish there was a bit less frosting but honestly having a bit more of anything is never a problem! For peanut lovers I recommend the Susie's nutty! It's two peanut butter cookies with peanut whip inbetween. With milk this is heavenly! Other goodies include: snickerdoodle cookies, regular cookies, red velvet cake, and a specialty cake that varies. The service here is always top notch! This location has a lot that is right next to it that is convenient. If you are just picking up there is a 30 minute pickup zone as well which I recommend (directly off of Del Mar heights). read more

My friends and I stopped by here for a quick dessert after a day of shopping around. It's a cute and cozy little cake shop! We tried the mini red velvet cupcakes and the chocolate cupcake. Nice location and love the colorful storefront and interior. Was in the area and decided to walk in and take a gander. I got a chocolate chip cookie (was good but wouldn't say the best I had ever had). It was light but felt like it didn't have as many chocolate chips as I would have liked. I also got a slice of their cranberry orange cake. This was very good, moist cake with a tarte interior and a light and sweet frosting. Was the perfect holiday combination. Staff was helpful and we were in and out with our goodies fairly quickly. Next time I am in the area I will for sure be picking up another slice of one of their yummy cakes! read more

Good to see Susiecakes at one Paseo. After a delicious lunch or dinner it's a treat to have dessert from here. Greeted by a great team behind the counter. Immediately, the carrot cake caught our eye. Unfortunately, the carrot cake only comes as a slice not available as a cupcake. We bought a slice and some other cupcakes. Chocolate Guinness was delish! Tasting the beer :) Coconut and lemon were tied for 2nd. Strawberry cupcake's frosting had an oily consistency compared to the other cupcakes and didn't have a strong enough strawberry flavor. Adorable cupcakes! I had birthday cupcakes with in vanilla (pink icing) and chocolate. Rarely would I declare the chocolate to be the better, but it in this case it was. I loved the chocolate cupcake!! The vanilla one is too sweet/sugary. I knew this and still bought it because these are just too cute. You can buy them by the slice (around $7) as well as in whole cakes. The cupcakes often have different cake types than the whole cakes (such as no sprinkles in the vanilla) so I prefer slices. They have cookies, other desserts, and gluten free offerings as well. They also offer vintage style frosting and heart shaped cakes for trendier options (albeit a bit expensive). You can walk in and see a good variety or order ahead. They're also on the Too Good to Go app if you want to try a random selection of end-of-day treats for a lower price. read more

Of course I had to order the LEMON CAKE SLICES and this time I'm taking them to NYC so ma man can taste it! We were walking around One Paseo, and one of the shops I wanted to check out was Susiecakes! I've been to their LA location, but it's been any years since then and my first time at one of their locations south of LA. First of all, I wish more bakeries had the high-quality customer service that this shop has! The employees not only were welcoming and knowledgeable, but truly seemed like they enjoyed working there and interacting with the customers. Their positive attitudes and professionalism, in addition to the cute, simple interior design of the shop, transports you back to feeling like a child at a candy store. As for the cakes ordered, I went with trying a slice of funfetti (the girl who helped us was kind enough to honor my bday freebie despite it being expired by a couple weeks ... shout out to this employer! I only wish I got her name!) and a slice of the tropical coconut. Both were massive and fairly priced for about $8/each. If you love traditional American buttercream, you'll love the funfetti. For me, however, it was on the sweet side and a little grainy. I ended up remedying this but adding some whipped cream and berries on it once we got back home. As for the tropical coconut, the cake was packed with coconut and pineapple. Again, the frosting was super sweet, but with a little whipped cream on top, viola! All in all, exceptional customer service, super cute shop, good prices, just may have not found the right cake for me. Will look forward to visiting again when back in San Diego. read more

This is hands-down, the best carrot cake I've ever had slices are huge, but the price reflects that about eight dollars a slice. Their cream cheese frosting is by far my favorite part about it but if you love carrot cake definitely definitely gotta try it. It's got huge chunks of carrot in there walnuts and just everything just goes so well together. I've also tried their coconut, pineapple cake, another fantastic choice and then their seasonal cookies during Halloween. I had their pumpkin cream pie. The BEST service! Most kind workers and manager is phenomenal making sure I love everything I try so def 5 stars for service. But only 3 stars for the taste as almost every single cookie, cupcake and cake slice is overly sickening sweet. The ONLY items I can eat that's less sweet is the summer berry cake which of course they stopped serving in September which I'm not sure why as it's their most delicious cake bc they use a Madagascar whipping cream frosting instead of a butter cream so it's more light and fluffy. That cake alone deserves a perfect 10 rating! And the peanut butter cupcake is definitely my go to and I wish they would make that into a cake slice bc for some reason it's not as sweet to me but has the right amount of balance and richness. You are able to custom order it however they don't offer it for purchase by the slice. The last and final item that is sweet but not sickly sweet is the regular chocolate cake. I still have to drench it in non sweetened almond milk when I I'm home to cut the sweetness. Other than that I would NOT try anything else in there unless you LOVE super sweet desserts that hurt your teeth. When I tried the celebration cake, carrot cake, red velvet slices and cookies I literally tossed them. Wasn't worth the calories if I'm not enjoying it! Susie Cakes celebrated her Golden Birthday on July 15 2023 and I went to join the celebration which featured a buy one get one free cupcake deal. Vanilla cupcake had a light pink frosting which was incredibly sweet like it was made of pure sugar.  Loved the vanilla flavored cake portion which was fluffy with a sweet vanilla flavor. Strawberry lemonade cupcake had very sweet frosting which tasted a bit like pineapple to me.  Loved the flavor of the cake part which started with vanilla cake and had strawberry pieces embedded in it. Strawberry cupcake had a vanilla flavored cake base with sweet strawberry frosting. Sugar cookies had a bit of crunch on the outside while the inside was soft.  Nice sweet flavor.  Reminds me of Corner Bakery's version only fresher.  Very tasty. Molasses cookie was soft and had a fresh molasses aroma.  Very tasty. Chocolate chip cookie was soft and full of chocolate flavor.  One of my favorite cookies. Summer berry cake was moist and fluffy.  Center was filled with sweet strawberry pieces.  Loved the mix of flavors from the yellow cake, strawberries, and the whipped cream frosting. Orange cranberry cake was soft and moist.  Loved the flavor of the cranberries and the texture of the berry piece which complimented the orange flavor.  Delicious.
