    Buttermilk Cinnamon Bun
    Savannah B.

Tiny little shop on the corner of 5th & Olive in Banker's Hill- super close to Balboa park. A decent amount of street parking but prepare for there to be a line (though it moves fast). This was my first time here and I asked one of the workers about the famous cinnamon buns and he recommended the buttermilk cinnamon bun. I also paired my bun with a matcha lemonade situation (can't remember exactly what it was but it was refreshing and delicious). $8 for one cinnamon bun is a little crazy though so that's why the 4 stars, for the matcha lemonade (no adds) and the cinnamon bun i paid $15.

Finally got to try this place out, and it did not disappoint. We got here early, as they tend to have a line. Definitely worth the wait. The pastries are all so tasty and fresh. My favorite was the Orange Blossom Ube Financier. The butter almond cake was so tasty and loved how the outside was crisp. Perfectly made. The inside is super tiny but clean. You basically get your goodies togo or they have tables outside for you to enjoy. Thank you Michi Michi for your hospitality and and tasty baked goods. Will definitely be back to try more.

Right when I got there, I had a feeling this place was going to be good, because there was a line out the door! I got the Raspberry Flan, since I always like getting the fruity tart desserts, and I loved it! The crust was flaky, and the raspberries were very fresh. I also got the chocolate chip cookie and the chocolate chunks were melty which I loved. The store is small, but there's seating outside, which is great because of the San Diego weather.

Oh my goodness, a burst of flavor in my mouth! Came here for the first time with my brother and the pastries were so fresh, delicious, big and flavorful. Some were not that much sweet which is fine for me! The presentation on some of them was absolutely beautiful. The prices were in the middle/average. Not too much but also not cheap. But definitely a nice lil treat to treat yourself once in a while! The service was wonderful. Everyone that works there is very nice and friendly. They give great recommendations. Their drink menu is very small. The inside of the place is small. There was a line out the door but it moves by fast. There is seating outside but very limited. They have very limited parking (only street parking) so it depends on the day and if you get lucky on finding parking.

Like any other review says, Michi Michi is that good! If you're out of town, near the area, want something to treat yourself too, this is your spot! You must try their cinnamon rolls! Small corner cafe on streets of bankers hill, with meter parking around (don't pay for it, nobody does. Especially San Diego locals). There is seating outside but limited - as well as drink menus but various pastries to choose from. You can't go wrong with any! The baristas are friendly and quick too! They must get busy some days because when my friend and I went it was slow and still lots of options left. The vibe is overall relaxed and calm. Can't go wrong with Michi Michi, I need to go back!

Blueberry cheesecake tart (April 2026)-- more of a croissant base but really tasty blueberry cheesecake flavor!

Love the idea of a baking collective-- rotating bakers every month brings the anticipation and joy of trying new creative pastries! When I went last week, the menu showcased Chef Julian Demonchy and was very laminated/croissant-focused. There were some really interesting flavor combinations (smoked Baja tuna croissant, pistachio rhubarb galette, etc.), and everything was beautiful :D ** Matcha white & ruby chocolate cookie (4/5): strong matcha flavor, and the ruby (pink) chocolate was more for looks than taste. The texture of the cookie was super soft without much chew and made it hard to pick up in one piece. Tasty overall~ ** Jalapeño popper baton (4/5): earns a thumbs up from MT who described it tasting just like a jalepeno popper. The inside was cream cheesy with a kick of spiciness. The croissant was pretty but not really crispy at all (maybe because of the filling?) so was more of a thin bread. ** Pistachio rhubarb galette (4/5): brownie points for creativity and visual presentation! Very pretty. As for taste, the pistachio frangipane was nutty and creamy, could've been sweeter for me, but was the tastiest part. The rhubarb was concentrated in the middle in big pieces and wasn't very sweet. Perfect for those who love a "not too sweet" dessert. ** Orange blossom ube financier (3.5/5): the financier portion itself was yummy with a light fluffy and moist texture, and the only ube part was the ganache on top. MT felt like it wasn't enough ube flavor despite how vibrant the color was. Think this would be good if you had this alone with coffee or tea. ** Croissant fruit tart (4/5): the filling was more like an egg tart than the usual fruit tart cream, but the fruit was sweet. The edges are layered like croissant as advertised, pretty neat! ** Blueberry cheesecake tart (4.5/5): my favorite out of the haul-- definitely tastes like a blueberry cheesecake with a slight taste of something funky (not sure if it was a small layer of goat cheese) that I could've done without. Despite being named a tart, it was more of a croissant base. I loved the (hopefully) naturally purple hue of the croissant layers from the blueberries, so pretty! The layers still were light and airy, delish! It's a tiny and cute spot with a few tables outside, and the staff were friendly. Metered street parking is your best bet. While it was fun (and made me happy!) to eat through most of the menu, I probably wouldn't order anything except for the blueberry cheesecake tart but would return to try new things. I recommend checking Michi Michi if you're in the area, and it's perfect do grabbing a box to share at the park nearby!

Michi Michi is one of my favorite bakeries in San Diego! It has so many unique pastries, and occasionally has fun in unique collabs with local San Diego small businesses! It is located in the heart of Bankers Hill near Balboa Park. Parking is metered street parking or near residential areas. I've tried a number of their pastries throughout a couple visits and I've loved a majority of them. My recent favorite has to be the kumquat torta de azucar, which was pillowy and perfectly sweet. The cinnamon roll was not quite cinnamon-y enough for me, but the softness of the bun was heavenly! Definitely give Michi Michi a try if you're looking for a bakery in San Diego!

    Ashley H.

The cutest hole in the wall bakery with some of the best and most unique pastries I've ever tried! I had the privilege of visiting Michi Michi for the first time on their one year anniversary, and let me just say... they really lived up to the hype. They had a DJ, a Photo Booth, a live mural painting, and complimentary croissants as you waited in line. The staff was so incredibly kind and accommodating, and the pastries were a 1000000/10! My personal favorites were the French Onion Soup Croissant and the Egg Salad Sando. Michi Michi is a must visit every time I'm in San Diego now :)

Miso matcha with ube foam Latte
    Caralynne J.

Stopped by Michi Michi around 9 AM on a Saturday and got there just in time--there wasn't much of a line yet, but by the time we left, there was a line out the door! Street parking was easy at that time, though it is paid. It's definitely a small spot with limited space and just a bit of outdoor seating, but it has a cozy feel. We ordered a latte and a miso matcha with ube cold foam--both were really good and a fun twist on your usual drinks. The standout for me was the jalapeño popper baton--such a great savory pastry and definitely something I'd order again. We also tried the pistachio rhubarb galette, which was unique and tasty, though not as tart as I expected. Overall, I'd love to come back and try more pastries if I'm in the area!

    Yums!

This place seems to have a consistent line. Plan to have a slight or decent wait when planning to visit this establishment. Take a look at their offerings via pics and you'll see why people que in line. Their variation of pastries has unique identities and great flavors. As you browse through the window, there's definitely something for everyone here. Inside, the bakery is relatively small. There's a few tables outside to enjoy your selection but most take their orders to go. If you are looking for delicious pastries in SD, this is one of my top spots. Can't wait to try their new flavors when they rotate the choices or introduce new ones.

Michi Michi is a "bakery collective" in Bankers Hill @ Downtown San Diego, where they curate artisan baked goods from local vendors. There is a rotation of vendors and baked goods, they're open from Thursday through Sunday in the morning and early afternoons, and they sell out when they sell out. This means that you have the best selections when they open in the morning and what they offer may be different every time you come. I really like the concept of buying locally made baked goods and you can find some interesting things here. The drawback is that if you find something that you really love, you may not be able to find it again on a different day. Parking at Banker's Hill is also terrible; however, I'm lucky that my wife is willing to drop me off to pick things up for us. Lastly, I hope that they can make it clearer regarding who is making the sweets that I am buying. If I find something I like, I want to be able to find/follow the independent baker(s) on their socials. Today, I bought a cinnamon roll and kouign amann. The kouign amann was flaky, but had the texture of a crispy cookie, which I didn't prefer. The cinnamon roll was delicious and it had a creamy quality, that made me feel that they did that "heavy cream" infusion that's been trendy on social media. Overall, I think that this is a good concept; however, it's an okay (3 star) experience because what you find may be hit or miss and, if you find some great hits, it is not clear that you'll ever be able to find it again.

    Steph L.

Street, metered parking only. Some outside seating available. They have a selection of pastries and coffee. Staff was moving everyone through the line quickly. It's hard to see what to order until you get inside. Menu for drinks is on the wall by the register. Tried: Banana Bread $5.50 - very healthy tasting. Was hoping it would be a little sweeter. The topping isn't a cream cheese it's a whipped butter. They use the same tongs on all foods so anyone with a nut allergy be aware as the banana bread has walnuts littered on top of it. Rhubarb Yuzu Twist $8.00 - really bitter but friend liked. Fresas Crema Danish $7.50 - just okay, really hard/crunchy and difficult to take a bite/cut. Cinnamon Roll $8.00 - just okay. Wasn't really a fan. Everything was just okay. At $7-8 per item it was a little pricey for me.

    Nhu V.

This spot is such a gem! The line in front of the door might look intimidating, but it moves fast. The inside is really small with the pastry displays and some merchs. There are a few tables outside but it seems to be a grab-and-go kind of place. There are many options to choose from and the flavors are so creative. They change the offerings all the time so every visit is a new experience. Overall, delicious pastries (of course there are some hits and misses - but it's all personal preference). My drink, coco matcha, was unfortunately a huge miss. I did not taste the coconut water flavor at all. I'd still get in line next time for their scrumptious baked goods.

They carry two refrigerated sections' worth of original treats and pastries, many with Asian flavors such as their ube leche flan and calamansi cheesecake.
